Go For Your Life is a program set up by the Victorian Government to promote fitness and healthy eating. It is aimed at all age levels of Victorians. Their advertisements have now become well known.

This line up played at the Knebworth Fayre on June 22, 1985 alongside Alaska, Mama's Boys, Blackfoot, Meat Loaf, Scorpions and Deep Purple. Go For Your Life was dedicated to Pappalardi's memory. Shortly thereafter, the band performed with Triumph at the Prairie Capital Convention Center in Illinois.

Romano co-wrote 2 songs on Mountain's 1986 Go For Your Life album. In 1990, he teamed up with former Ian Gillan & Mammoth bassist John McCoy. They recorded an album called Heavy Metal Cowboys (later entitled McCoy Brainstorm), which was released on Angel air records in the U.K. In 1992, Romano joined the band Belladonna with former Anthrax vocalist Joey Belladonna. After writing 8 songs, Romano left the group.

Mountain released Go for Your Life in 1985, which featured new bassist Mark Clarke. Shortly after its release and promotion, the group quietly disbanded again. West and Laing returned as Mountain in 1992, with new bassist Richie Scarlet. After changing personnel again by replacing Scarlet with Randy Coven and later Noel Redding, the group released its sixth studio album Man's World in 1996 with a returning Clarke on bass.

Go for Your Life is the fifth studio album by Mountain, released on March 9, 1985. It is their first studio album since 1974 album Avalanche. It was the first Mountain album to not feature production or performance from Felix Pappalardi, who had been shot and killed by his wife Gail Collins in 1983. The album's closing track, "Little Bit of Insanity", was dedicated to Pappalardi's memory, and the album cover artwork was also designed with the fallen bassist/producer in mind.

Upon its release, Twin Peaks debuted at number 166 on the US Billboard 200 albums chart in the week of March 9, 1974. The album spent a total of eight weeks on the chart, peaking at number 142 in the week of March 30, 1974. This marked the lowest peak position of any Mountain release to that date, and remains the second lowest ahead of only Go for Your Life at number 166. Twin Peaks also peaked at number 138 on the US Cash Box magazine albums chart.

West, Bruce and Laing produced two studio albums and a live release before Mountain reformed without Laing in 1974 and released two more albums, Avalanche (with Laing) and the live Twin Peaks (without Laing), only to break up again shortly after. The band would once again reconvene with Laing in 1985 upon the release of Go For Your Life, and Laing has continued with them to this day, most recently working on the band's 2007 Bob Dylan cover album Masters of War. In late 1977, he recorded an album with John Cale (former Velvet Underground member), Ian Hunter (from Mott the Hoople) and Mick Ronson. This album was not released.

By August 1973, West and Pappalardi had reformed Mountain with Allan Schwartzberg on drums and Bob Mann (ex-Dreams) on keyboards and guitar; the new lineup toured Japan and produced a double live album, Twin Peaks (February 1974), from the tour. The studio work Avalanche (July 1974), for which Laing returned to play drums and David Perry became the new second guitarist (from November 1973 to September 1974), would be Mountain's final album with Pappalardi as a participant; the group broke up again after playing a final show at Felt Forum in NYC on December 31, 1974. On April 17, 1983 Gail Collins Pappalardi, Pappalardi's wife and songwriting partner (she had designed many of the band's album covers and wrote many of their lyrics), shot Pappalardi in the neck in their fifth-floor East Side Manhattan apartment and he died. After pursuing separate musical paths for almost a decade, West and Laing reunited Mountain, recruiting Miller Anderson (ex-Savoy Brown & Keef Hartley) on bass in 1981. After Anderson had Travel visa troubles, he was replaced in 1984 by Mark Clarke and the group recorded Go for Your Life (March 1985).
