Martha accepted but only lasted a few days as Ena's suspicious nature led her to walk out of hospital and return to her vestry, senile decay or not.

In the 1980s Akers issued a new gospel album every year on a regional midwest label. Each album cover featured a new color photograph of the artist to let you know it was a current production. She also recorded a few albums in Canada which were not distributed in the United States, such as Crusade LP 2702 with Glad Tidings Temple's Harvest Time Choir. In the United States she began recording for the Gaither label and appeared at some of their concerts and in TV productions, some fragments of which are currently available on YouTube.com.

Stuart Hodges took over the role of preacher at The Glad Tidings Mission Hall when Leonard Swindley was forced to take a rest after having a minor breakdown. Emily Nugent, a regular at the Mission, fell for Hodges as did most of the women. Even Ena Sharples took a liking to him when he helped her out with her cleaning job. Hodges left the Street to allow Swindley to take his job back, but returned months later with the news that the Mission was to merge with another in Weatherfield.

Lyrics usually include the line (or a slight variation): > The cuckoo is a pretty bird, she sings as she flies; she brings us glad > tidings, and she tells us no lies. According to Thomas Goldsmith of The Raleigh News & Observer, "The Cuckoo" is reportedly descended from an old folk ballad; it's an interior monologue where the singer "relates his desires -- to gamble, to win, to regain love's affection." The song is featured in the E.L. Doctorow book The March. A soldier suffering from a metal spike stuck in his head sings verses from the song.

The college used the premises of Richmond Temple in the first year. The 40 students enrolled at CBC in 1948 called themselves the "Van Couriers 1948" or "First Messengers". They came to study from all over Australia. In 1949 the college moved to Brisbane, first to New Farm, and, in 1961, to a purpose-built campus on the Brisbane River which was destroyed in the 1974 Brisbane flood.Our History (Alphacrucis) After a year of temporary operation at Glad Tidings Tabernacle in Brisbane, 1949, a new campus was obtained and refurbished at Katoomba, New South Wales in the former Palais Royale guesthouse.

He was a pious and learned man and pure-heartedly served the mission-دعوۃ. Looking to his sincere service and nobility Saiyedna Hasan Badruddin said to him that, "Allah will bless you with the bounty of noble children who will become the stars of my Da'wat." This wise words of Saiyedna came with the glad-tidings (بشارۃ) as he was blessed with the son named "Jivabhai". Saiyedna Hasan Badruddin himself gave the primary religious and other necessary education and learning to Jivabhai and due to his cleverness and wisdom at a very tender age he memorized the Qur'an.

Ghulam Ahmad published a book called The Heavenly Decree, in which he challenged his opponents to a "spiritual duel" in which the question of whether someone was a Muslim or not would be settled by God based on the four criteria laid out in the Qur'an, namely, that a perfect believer will frequently receive glad tidings from God, that he will be given awareness about hidden matters and events of the future from God, that most of his prayers will be fulfilled and that he will exceed others in understanding novel finer points, subtleties and deeper meanings of the Qur'an.

Although he preached the Message of God with zeal, his people refused to mend their ways, leading to building the Ark and the Deluge, the Great Flood. In Islamic tradition, it is disputed whether the Great Flood was a global or a local one. Noah's preaching and prophet-hood spanned 950 years according to the Quran. Noah's mission had a double character: he had to warn his people, asking them to call for repentance and, at the same time, he had to preach about God's mercy and forgiveness, promising them the glad tidings God would provide if they led righteous lives.

In 1970, De André wrote La buona novella ("Glad Tidings" – a literal rendition of the etymology of gospel), a concept album based on Christ's life as told in the Apocrypha. The album was very controversial, especially the song Il testamento di Tito ("Titus's Will"), in which one of the thieves crucified with Jesus violently refutes the Ten Commandments. Other terms are used, including "Warner", "bearer of glad tidings", and the "one who invites people to a Single God" (, and ), "Seal of the Prophets" (Khatam an-Nabiyyin) i.e. there will be no more prophets after him), a "Summoner unto Allah" and "a Lamp that gives bright light" Verse -- "And you did not recite before it any scripture, nor did you inscribe one with your right hand. Otherwise the falsifiers would have had [cause for] doubt" -- is thought to indicate that Muhammad was illiterate and had not read any earlier scriptures.

ISIS in Iraq and Syria In Canada, two girls from Montreal left their country to join ISIS in Syria after exploring ISIS on social media and eventually being recruited. On Twitter, there is an app called the Dawn of Glad Tidings that users can download and keep up to date on news about ISIS. Hundreds of users around the world have signed up for the app, which once downloaded will post tweets and hash-tags from accounts that are in support of ISIS. As ISIS marched on the northern region of Iraq, tweets in support of their efforts reached a high of 40,000 a day.

The atmosphere in Canton was intense, due to the expected Japanese invasion. His wife and children subsequently moved to safety to stay with her parents. She eventually meets the residents of the street following a gas leak in January 1961 which forced them to stay the night at the Mission Hall. After that she soon becomes friends with many of the residents and became a pillar of the community.

She also made a solitary appearance in the television series Believe It or Not in 1950 before earning a career breakthrough performance in Broadway comedy sitcom Glad Tidings where she played the role of long-lost daughter of Melvyn Douglas. She also received an award for the Best stage actress at the Theatre World Award in 1952. Deschner anticipates the main criticism at his work, namely the one-sidedness of selection of facts, and responds with a clear counter. His aim was not a history of churches, but an illustration of all (including non-church) phenomena of Christianity. These would be measured up to not only generic terms, like crime or humanity, but also to the central ethical ideas of the synoptics, as well as to the Christian self-conception as the religion of glad tidings, love, peace, etc., and also the ignored demands of the later church, like prohibition of military service (first for all Christians, then for the clergy, only), ban on simony, interest-taking, usury and many more.

Historically, the famous green "carpet bag" in the 19th century containing the lists of political appointees (also known as "patronage") of the Governor of Maryland to be approved by the General Assembly of Maryland has long been known as the "green bag", though the derivation of the term is unknown. The term became synonymous with "good news" and "glad tidings", such as could be applied to the feelings that recent graduates felt when seeing and reading their new yearbooks published soon after their graduations. The first yearbooks contained sketches of faculty and seniors, and included recollections, anecdotes, stories, and quotes significant to the student body. Underclassmen were included for the first time with individual portraits in the growing student body in 1948.

Morrison said he was inspired to write "Brand New Day" after hearing The Band on the radio playing either "The Weight" or "I Shall Be Released": "I looked up at the sky and the sun started to shine and all of a sudden the song just came through my head. I started to write it down, right from 'When all the dark clouds roll away'." One of the main characters during the 1960s, she was featured less regularly in the 1970s due to the declining health of actress Violet Carson, and was written out in 1980. Almost always wearing a double-breasted overcoat and hairnet, she spent much of her free time in the series' early years with her two cronies, Martha Longhurst (Lynne Carol) and Minnie Caldwell (Margot Bryant), in the snug bar of local pub The Rovers Return Inn, drinking milk stout. Ena particularly criticised Elsie Tanner (Pat Phoenix), whom she believed had loose morals.

He has also been Conductor of the Westboro Musical Society and of the North Brookfield Musical Society. He has written many musical criticisms and reviews of musical work, and has also lectured on music. His musical compositions number many hundreds, his speciality being church music, written for both the Protestant and the Catholic church. Of special excellence among his choir pieces are the following: Praise the Lord Jehovah, Blessed is the Man (Psalm I), Great is the Lord, How Beautiful Upon the Mountains, Sing and Rejoice, Benedictus, God is our Hope and Strength and Glad Tidings of Great Joy all published by the White-Smith Music Publishing Co. Of his compositions of secular music his Scenes from Nature: Six Musical Sketches is worthy of special mention.

Since 1961, Rev. Mosier had served in various capacities in the Pentecostal Church of God. He began his full-time ministry in 1961 as the pastor of Bethel Tabernacle in Jackson, MI. He also pastored Jackson Avenue Pentecostal Church of God in Ann Arbor, MI. After serving in various District positions, he pastored Glad Tidings Tabernacle of Flint, MI. During his forty-five years of ministry, he served the Pentecostal Church of God in the following capacities: 5 years as Michigan District PYPA (Pentecostal Young People's Association) President, 9 years as Michigan district Secretary/Treasurer, 7 ½ years as Michigan District Superintendent, 14 years as Assistant General Superintendent, 10 years as World Missions Director, 38 years as a Member of the Pentecostal church of God General Board, and 11 months as General Bishop.

Jacob is mentioned by name in the Quran sixteen times. Although many of these verses praise him rather than recount an instance from his narrative, the Quran nonetheless records several significant events from his life. Although Muslim tradition and literature greatly embellishes upon the narrative of Jacob,Qisas Al-Anbiya (Stories of the Prophets), Ibn Kathir/Kisa'i, Story of Isaac and Jacob the earliest event involving Jacob in the Quran is that of the angels (malāʾikah) giving "glad tidings" to Abraham and Sarah of the future birth of a prophetic son by the name of Isaac as well as a prophetic grandson by the name of Jacob. The Quran states: The Quran also mentions that Abraham taught the faith of pure monotheism to his sons, Ishmael and Isaac, as well as Jacob.

Communication has been an important role in the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Before 1875, every group had some sort of journal for communication, as well as active contributions in the mainstream press. In January 1876, the Presbyterian Record, a merger of the Church of Scotland's The Presbyterian (since 1848), and the Canada Presbyterian Church's Record (and its predecessors in the United Presbyterian and Free Church), began operations that continue monthly until 2016 when the Presbyterian Record was replaced by The Presbyterian Connection, a quarterly newspaper, and PCConnect a monthly e-newsletter. While stationed at Manipur, a good 1000 miles from Qadian, the Ahmadi headquarters, this officer, Abdur Rahman Dehlvi, arranged for a copy of The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad to be sent to Orchard from Qadian.Bashir Ahmad Orchard, (1993), Life Supreme, Islam International, p.124 Later, Orchard used his army leave to visit Qadian where he met the Caliph, Mirza Bashir-ud-Din Mahmud Ahmad and was much impressed, describing him as 'an embodiment of energetic repose radiating physical, intellectual and spiritual magnetism which captivated all in his presence'. Shortly after his visit to Qadian, as his unit advanced towards Burma, Orchard signed the form of Bay'ah (allegiance) and sent it to Qadian, thus formally joining the Ahmadiyya movement, and adopted the Arabic name Bashir (bringer of glad tidings) in 1945.

Born in Romania, Valentin Radu began his music studies at age four. At age six he made his concert debut on the stage of the Bucharest Philharmonic (as a piano recitalist) and at age nine as a concert soloist with the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1973, at 16, he won the prestigious Rome Piano Competition, and in 1979 - the Saarbrücken Organ Competition. In 1980, he won the silver medal at the Bach International Competition in Leipzig.

Mary, the mother of Jesus, is one of the most important women in the Quran, as she is the only one identified by name. Her name not only appears far more in the Quran than in the New Testament, but it is also the title of Sura 19, which discusses the annunciation, Jesus's birth and Jesus's first words, spoken before birth and in the cradle—"most other personal names used as titles of Quranic chapters are those of prophets." A hadith claims that Mary was consecrated to God, thus "escaping the pricking of the devil" at birth; this is said "to have played a role in the formation of the later Islamic doctrine of prophetic isma" (innate quality of 'impeccability', 'immunity from sin and error' of prophets). As a young girl and a virgin, Mary stayed in the Mihrab, where she received "glad tidings of a word (kalima) from God" about her giving birth to a "pure son".

The apostles claimed that Jesus' death was a sacrifice of an innocent man for the sins of the guilty. But "Jesus him self had done away with the very concept of 'guilt,' he denied that there was any gulf fixed between God and man; he lived this unity between God and man, and that was precisely his 'glad tidings'"The Antichrist, § 41 In order to claim that there is life after death, the apostles ignored Jesus' example of blessed living. Paul emphasizes the concept of immortality in First Corinthians 15:17, as Nietzsche explains: > St. Paul...gave a logical quality to that conception, that indecent > conception, in this way: 'If Christ did not rise from the dead, then all our > faith is in vain!'—And at once there sprang from the Gospels the most > contemptible of all unfulfillable promises, the shameless doctrine of > personal immortality.... Paul even preached it as a reward.... Paul used the promise of life after death as a way to seize tyrannical power over the masses of lower-class people.

The parishioners of St Magnus Martyr, desirous of acknowledging the mercy of God and calling to mind that Miles Coverdale was once Rector of their parish, erected this monument to his memory A.D. MDCCCXXXVII. How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace and bring glad tidings of good things.

Isaac is mentioned fifteen times by name in the Quran, often with his father and his son, Yaʿqūb (Jacob).Encyclopedia of Islam, W. Montgomery Watt, Isaac The Quran states that Abraham received "good tidings of Isaac, a prophet, of the righteous", and that God blessed them both (37: 112). "And We gave him glad tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous. And We blessed him and Isaac. And among their progeny are the virtuous and those who clearly wrong themselves" In a fuller description, when angels came to Ibrahim to tell him of the future punishment to be imposed on Sodom and Gomorrah, his wife, Sarah, "laughed, and We gave her good tidings of Isaac, and after Isaac of (a grandson) Jacob" (11: 71-74); and it is further explained that this event will take place despite Abraham and Sarah's old age. Several verses speak of Isaac as a "gift" to Abraham (6: 84; 19: 49-50), and 29: 26-27 adds that God made "prophethood and the Book to be among his offspring", which has been interpreted to refer to Abraham's two prophetic sons, his prophetic grandson Jacob, and his prophetic great-grandson Joseph.
