Kimiko Nakamura, portrayed by Saemi Nakamura, is the daughter of Kaito and older sister of Hiro. She is very intelligent and motivated, and wishes to advance in her father's company, Yamagato Industries. She accompanies her father to New York to retrieve Hiro. She gets along with her brother, in comparison to his and their father's strained relationship, as evidenced by the way Kimiko's pleas and reasoning get much further than Kaito's authoritative tactics (up to and including kidnapping).

Zohara is growing old, and tiring, and she puts pressure on her daughter Simone (Osnat Yerushalmi) to replace her. Simone wants no part of these old-country rituals, and opens a restaurant, which she struggles to maintain. It seems, however, that the "dreaming" is not willing to let her go, and she suffers from what appears to be narcolepsy, and takes medication to control her inability to fall asleep and her resulting bouts of obsessive cleaning. Zohar (Meital Gal Souissa), Simone's daughter, gets along with her grandmother but sees the dreaming as a curiosity, and wants to write a school project on narcolepsy.

Phil tries to tell them politely to remove the boat but when he sees that being polite leads nowhere, he decides to call his father Frank (Fred Willard) and all his retiree friends to come and camp in front of their houses with their trailers. At first everything seems to go well for Phil and Claire but Ronnie gets along with the older men and they all hang out together. That leads Claire to call the police.

Aneisha gets along with Frank well but sometimes he doesn't listen to what she says especially when her instincts are correct.

As expected for his age, Deck is immature at times but for the most part gets along with everyone though gradually as the series progresses he begins to prove himself as a pilot, establishing himself as a predominant role in controlling the Ideon.

He never seems to understand what Ponder is saying, and Ponder never expects him to, but at least the young man is doing something, which is more than can be said for the rest of them. Sue Lor (portrayed by Ahney Her) is a Hmong American girl who is Thao's older sister. She is the first of Walt Kowalski's Hmong neighbors to befriend him after he rescues her. She has a streetwise, witty personality and a strong, independent spirit; she easily gets along with Walt despite his grumpiness. She teaches Walt about the Hmong people's history and struggles in American culture, and the two of them realize that they share something in common of being "betrayed"; Walt by his own family and the Hmong people by the United States despite fighting alongside them in the Vietnam War. Louisa Schein and Va-Megn Thoj, authors of "Gran Torino’s Boys and Men with Guns: Hmong Perspectives" said "In defiance of women‘s typified hyperfemininity, Sue is outspoken, virtually fearless, gregarious, and fiercely protective of her brother."Schein and Thoj p. 25-26.

Jay (Ed O'Neill) wants to attend a dog's birthday party (a Bark Mitzvah) with Stella (Brigitte) and he also takes Gloria (Sofía Vergara) with him, while Manny (Rico Rodriguez) stays home to baby-sit Joe (Pierce Wallace). Gloria, who gets along with dogs very poorly, tells Jay that she is unable to stay any longer at the party and leaves. Back at home, Manny convinces her that she has to go back, in order to show Jay that she cares about what he loves, and because Jay has agreed to accompany her to the Colombian picnic with her friends the following day. When Jay sees Gloria coming back, he gets mad at Manny and tells him that his plan was for Gloria to leave so he could use it as an excuse to skip the picnic.

Bang Tae-sik is perennially unemployed as he drifts from one job to another, from manual labor to serving coffee. His appearance (dark skin and short height), being rather atypical for a Korean is to blame it seems, but best buddy Yong-cheol persuades Tae-sik to make better use of these disadvantages: Desperate and having nothing better to do, he adopts a strange accent and ethnic hat and is reborn as Bang-ga (a twist on his family name) from Bhutan, and immediately lands a job at a chair manufacturing factory. Despite a shaky beginning ― due to his unredeemable clumsiness, rather than doubts about his alleged Bhutani roots that are all too convincing ― Tae-sik gets along with his co-workers, and even starts romancing the lovely Jang-mi from Vietnam. He is even voted to become president of a migrant workers labor union and competent Korean language instructor, and joins in a harmonious effort to win a local singing competition for foreigners.
