In making that claim, Brooks relies heavily on the work of psychology professor Jonathan Haidt, which shows that humans process moral judgments more quickly than rational ones.

Established in 2008, TFAS Santiago has garnered a TFAS foothold in Latin America, where more than 500 students have been given the tools to defend freedom in a region where it has been under attack. The competitive program brings together approximately 50 students from throughout Latin America and the United States to study economics, political theory and the basis for the rule of law and institutional governance. Accredited through the University of the Andes, the TFAS Santiago program educates young people about the underpinnings of the free-enterprise system and encourages them to apply these concepts to institutions in their home countries. TFAS Santiago alumni have started free- market think tanks, been elected to office, started new political parties based on free-market principles and become columnists for major newspapers.

Trustees of Dartmouth College v. Woodward, 17 U.S. (4 Wheat.) 518 (1819), was a landmark decision in United States corporate law from the United States Supreme Court dealing with the application of the Contracts Clause of the United States Constitution to private corporations. The case arose when the president of Dartmouth College was deposed by its trustees, leading to the New Hampshire legislature attempting to force the college to become a public institution and thereby place the ability to appoint trustees in the hands of the governor of New Hampshire. The Supreme Court upheld the sanctity of the original charter of the college, which pre-dated the creation of the State.. The decision settled the nature of public versus private charters and resulted in the rise of the American business corporation and the American free enterprise system.

Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco patch The Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (ABT) is the Florida state government agency which licenses and regulates the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco. It is part of the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). The Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco is responsible for licensing the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries, for collection and auditing of taxes and fees paid by the licensees, and for enforcing the laws and regulations of the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries. The Division has the mission of effective supervision of the distribution of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products to consumers in a free enterprise system; collection and deposit of all taxes and fees authorized by law; and provision of a safe, drug-free, and responsible hospitality industry to residents and tourists of Florida.

An industrial school set up for ex-slaves in Richmond during Reconstruction The anti-literacy laws after 1832 contributed greatly to the problem of widespread illiteracy facing the freedmen and other African Americans after Emancipation and the Civil War 35 years later. The problem of illiteracy and need for education was seen as one of the greatest challenges confronting these people as they sought to join the free enterprise system and support themselves during Reconstruction and thereafter. Consequently, many black and white religious organizations, former Union Army officers and soldiers, and wealthy philanthropists were inspired to create and fund educational efforts specifically for the betterment of African Americans; some African Americans had started their own schools before the end of the war. Northerners helped create numerous normal schools, such as those that became Hampton University and Tuskegee University, to generate teachers, as well as other colleges for former slaves.

He viewed the organization as representing "improvement of the quality of life in America and the continuance of the free enterprise system. ... If we are to continue to remain a free country, it is going to take the efforts of each and every one of us as volunteers ..." On November 22, 1982, Bossier City proclaimed "Don E. Jones Day" because of his leadership over the Jaycees. While he was the Jaycee president, Jones maintained an official Bossier City residence and was qualified to run for mayor. An opponent, James Quillen Wellborn (1927-2004), a native of Daingerfield, Texas, a mathematics teacher at Bossier High School and a former chairman of the Bossier Parish Republican Party, failed to have Jones disqualified from the ballot on the grounds that Jones had not met the residency requirement for municipal office in Bossier City because he had spent part of the preceding year in Tulsa.

In the 2011–2012 fiscal year, the John William Pope made over $9.3 million in grants, of which 60% went to support North Carolina public policy organizations, 28% went to support educational causes, 7% went to support national public policy organizations, 4% went to support humanitarian organizations, and 1% went to support the arts.John William Pope Foundation Grants The Pope Foundation also underwrites scholarships for Eagle Scouts to attend college. Since the first class of scholars in 2001, the Pope Foundation has invested over $1 million in Scouts who plan to pursue careers in the free-enterprise system. The Pope Foundation also has invested heavily in capital construction projects for area universities, including $3 million to UNC-Chapel Hill for the renovation of Kenan Memorial Stadium; $4.5 million for a convocation center at Campbell University; and $1.2 million to finish renovations on Campbell University's law school – Norman Adrian Wiggins School of Law.

At the time of Jenkins' election only two members of both houses of the legislature were Republicans. Jenkins faced five older opponents in his first race but walked door to door and was elected with 67 percent in the Democratic primary and was unopposed in the general election. (Louisiana's nonpartisan blanket primary was not enacted until 1975.) He was sworn in at the age of twenty-four, just a few days before he graduated from LSU Law School. During his 28-year tenure in the Louisiana House from 1972 to 2000, Jenkins authored more than three hundred major bills that became law, including the Free Enterprise Education Act, which requires all high school students in Louisiana to complete a one-semester course on the free enterprise system; the Private Education Deregulation Act, which removed many regulations from private and Christian schools and legalized home schooling in the state. The Teacher Proficiency Act requires all new public school teachers in Louisiana to pass the National Teachers Examination; the TOPS scholarship program, under which more than 100,000 Louisiana students have been granted full college scholarships.

In April 2010, Brooks published The Battle: How the Fight between Free Enterprise and Big Government Will Shape America's Future in which he lays out a moral vision for the resurgence of the ideals of individual liberty, equal opportunity, entrepreneurship and self-reliance that have formed the U.S. identity. He asks the reason why, if the U.S. is a 70–30 nation favoring free enterprise, are the 30 percent who want to change that culture in charge? He submits that while the numbers appear to favor a traditional free enterprise culture, the 30 percent coalition has a tremendous amount of influence in key places such as academia and entertainment and has effectively influenced a large number of young Americans. Brooks believes the financial crisis of 2008–2009 was an opportunity for the statists to attack the free enterprise system as too risky for the U.S. to allow to continue in its current form but ignore the role of government policy and focus instead on greed and stupidity in the private sector.
