Soon after April 15, a dismayed Maynard reported that 'the President's extraordinary proclamation' had unleashed 'a tornado of excitement that seems likely to sweep us all away.' Men who had 'heretofore been cool, firm and Union loving' had become 'perfectly wild' and were 'aroused to a phrenzy[sic] of passion.' For what purpose, they asked, could such an army be wanted 'but to invade, overrun and subjugate the Southern states.' It is widely accepted that Bar Simson really existed, but it is hard to be sure who wrote the Chronicle and for what purpose. The Chronicle of Rabbi Eliezer bar Nathan (mid 12th century) is known to be written by a person named Rabbi Eliezer bar Nathan, who was very popular in his time due to his writings. He is thought to have borrowed much of his information from Bar Simson, since much of the information is the same. His writing here is extremely emotional, taking on a more apocalyptic tone in a sense.

The land mass of Asia is not the sum of the land masses of each of its regions, which have been defined independently of the whole. For example, the borders of Central Asia and the Middle East depend on who is defining them and for what purpose. These varying definitions are not generally reflected in the map of Asia as a whole; for example, Egypt is typically included in the Middle East, but not in Asia, even though the Middle East is a division of Asia. The demarcation between Asia and Africa is the isthmus of Suez and the Red Sea.

In his "Life of Emperor Uroš", Pajsije sought to connect this ruler to the uninterrupted line of Serbian history. His work started with the Nemanjić ancestry and continued to own time, with Uroš's life representing only one episode. In the book, Pajsije himself reveals his larger ambition: It was my desire to understand and learn this: whence the Serbs originated, and for what purpose. He also wrote the Service to St. Symon (Stefan the First-Crowned) and his successor, Gavrilo I (1648–1655) who, like Jovan Kantul, would die a martyr's death while in Turkish captivity in Bursa in 1659.

This fortification was built on the order of the Viceroy of the Portuguese State of India, Dom Francisco da Gama, Fourth Count of Vidigueira, during his second government, for the defense of South Goa bar, which was then capital of the state of India (Estado da Índia). His works began in 1624, according to ancient epigraphic inscriptions. In that century, due to the continuous plagues and attacks that racked the old city of Goa, the Viceroys considered the transfer the capital of Portuguese India (Índia Portuguesa) to Mormugao, for what purpose some buildings were erected. The high project costs led to its abandonment though.

Inside Barn Cave, on of the biggest man-made cave in Iceland The Caves of Hella (also known as the Caves of Ægissíða) are a series of ancient man-made sandstone caves located at the farm Ægissíða on the bank of the river Ytri- Rangá, just across from the village Hella, in the southern part of Iceland. Through the past centuries the caves have been used by Icelandic farmers as sheep sheds, barns and, food storage. Nobody knows for certain who made them and for what purpose. However, throughout the centuries the people of Ægissíða have said the caves were built before the Viking settlement.

Boon Farm, a part of the former Legerwood parish, was carved out of lands that were originally covered in thick woodlands. The Picts, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Britons, and Scots, successive possessors of this region, consumed the greater part of these woods through the ravages of war, in opening passages through the country, for domestic uses, and in clearing the ground for cultivation. The remains of an ancient wall, or earthen mound with a ditch on one side, known as The Black Dyke, or Heriot's Dyke, runs eastward from Boon towards Greenlaw and the coast at Berwick. It is not known by whom or at what time this wall was built, nor for what purpose it was intended.

Exactly for what purpose prehistoric Britons originally constructed stone circles is a question that continues to elude archaeologists. Despite this, many suggestions have been put forward, most of which argue that they were a form of a church. Based on his study of those examples found at Orkney in northern Scotland, the archaeologist Colin Richards suggested that the stone and wooden circles built in Late Neolithic Britain might have represented the centre of the world, or axis mundi, for those who constructed them,Richards 1996. p. 206. an idea adopted by fellow archaeologist Aaron Watson as a possibility in his discussion of why Late Neolithic peoples constructed the great ring at Avebury in southern England.

Misiunas, p. 60 Rolf-Dieter Müller states that 30,000 volunteered in addition to those conscripted, and another source states that the 20th SS Division received 15,000 volunteers, which was enough for it to reach full strength. The Estonian History Commission reported 32,000 men were conscripted after Uluots's call. After the mobilised men had made known their reluctance in being a part of the Waffen-SS and wearing the SS uniform, SS-Obersturmführer Bernhardt redefined the concept of volunteering: individuals do not matter any more and can no longer decide on volunteering; it is effectively the occupier who chooses which men, how many and for what purpose. The 20th SS Division received reinforcements, bringing the total of Estonian units up to 50,000 or 60,000 men.

The Kurds for their part, in particular Ibrahim Ahmad and Jalal Talabani, felt increasingly frustrated that Qasim had taken no practical steps towards Kurdish autonomy. Kurdistan slowly and almost inadvertently headed towards revolt, and between 1961 and 1963, violence engulfed Kurdistan and the longstanding divisions between the socialist- nationalists such as Talabani, and Mulla Mustafa and the old tribal Aghas solidified as they disagreed as to how to conduct the revolt and for what purpose. Mullah Mustafa unsuccessfully sought the assistance first of Britain, and then the USA – which lost him any of the remaining allies he had in the Iraqi Communist Party. As of April 2011, there were at least 24 civil suits from celebrities and politicians filed for breach of privacy against News of the World alone. As of early October 2011, there were reportedly 63 civil suits directed at News International relating to the phone hacking scandal. The diary of Merer, a middle ranking official with the title inspector (sHD), is thought to date to the 26th year of the reign of Pharaoh Khufu Pierre Tallet: Les papyrus de la Mer Rouge I, Le journal de Merer, (papyrus Jarf A et B), MIFAO 136, Cairo 2017, , p. 160 and describes several months of work with the transportation of limestone from Tura to Giza. Though the diary does not specify where the stones were to be used or for what purpose, given the diary may date to what is widely considered the very end of Khufu's reign, Tallet believes they were most likely for cladding the outside of the Great Pyramid. About every ten days, two or three round trips were done, shipping perhaps 30 blocks of 2–3 tonnes each, amounting to 200 blocks per month.

It is uncertain for what purpose the negative used to strike the Eastman House print was produced, as it includes footage from the 1930 sound reissue, and shows few signs of wear or damage. For unknown reasons, an opening prologue showing a man with a lantern has been added—using a single continuous take—but no corresponding title cards or dialogue survive. This shot seems to have been a talking sequence, but it shows up in the original 1925 version, shorter in duration and using a different, close-up shot of the man with the lantern. Furthermore, the opening title sequence, the lantern man, the footage of Mary Fabian performing as Carlotta, and Mary Philbin's opera performances are photographed at 24 frames per second (sound film speed), and therefore were shot after the movie's original release.

Izrael Poznański Mausoleum After September 1 the Jewish community in the city continued its normal work. On the first day of the war, the Commune Board headed by the chairman of Mincberg headed to the headquarters of the Voivodship Office, where, in the hands of Chief Stanisław Wrona, he made a declaration "on readiness to cooperate with state and social factors on behalf of the entire Jewish community"Delegation of the Łódź Jewish commune in "Kurier Łódzki", 3-4 September 1939, No. 234, p. 5. The next day Łódź Henryk Mostowski, the Staroste of the town, informed the community about the used attachment order through its premises at 18 Pomorska Street. Unfortunately, it is not known for what purpose the authorities planned to allocate the community premises. On September 3, the community's management sent a letter to "all departments, offices and institutions of the Commune", in which in view of the new war conditions "the greatest possible savings and the most rational management were recommended and administration".

The novel Chicano, by Richard Vasquez, was the first novel about Mexican Americans to be released by a major publisher (Doubleday, 1970). It was widely read in high schools and universities during the 1970s and is now recognized as a breakthrough novel. Vasquez's social themes have been compared with those found in the work of Upton Sinclair and John Steinbeck. Chicana writers have tended to focus on themes of identity, questioning how identity is constructed, who constructs it, and for what purpose in a racist, classist, and patriarchal structure. The original songs, those written by one or more Gibb brother, were all written and recorded during or shortly after the recording of what made up the Spicks and Specks album at Ossie Byrne's recording studio in Hurstville. Those twelve songs could have made up the contents of a subsequent Bee Gees album, but were ultimately turned over as demos for other artists to record, among them Ronnie Burns who promptly used eight of their songs for his 1967 album "Ronnie", including "All the King's Horses" of which the Bee Gees version remains unreleased. "Lonely Winter" was part of a deal with the band Steve & the Board to each record a song written by a member of the other band, Barry Gibb in turn supplied them with "Little Miss Rhythm & Blues". The brothers also took time to record a number of covers of songs by The Beatles as well as the Lovin' Spoonful, but for what purpose is unknown.
