Philip was surprised to see this, and published a proclamation announcing that would give three days' grace to anybody wishing to commit suicide. The Abydenians, who were bent on following the orders of the original decree, thought that this would amount to treason to the people who had already died, and refused to live under these terms.
While the album's anti-technology orientation, according to Grayson Currin of Pitchfork, "seems almost painfully obvious for Slough Feg", he praised how Scalzi "spin[s] his rant toward a surprisingly broad" critique of "how electronics have turned well-meaning and intelligent people into facile consumers coldly following the orders of a screen". Scalzi suggested that technology has changed how people learn: He described as lyrics as "very extreme in order to be dramatic", in order to convey his fear that "digital technology will in fact find its way eventually into our biology, and already has found its way into our mentality".

Rebuffed, Ostojić drew up a plan in accordance with Mihailović's orders, which called for the Chetniks to remain south and east of the Neretva to avoid being outflanked by the Partisans. However, this essentially defensive strategy was rejected by Herzegovinian Chetnik commanders such as Dobroslav Jevđević and Bajo Stanišić, who wished to follow the Axis-led offensive strategy. This placed Ostojić in a very difficult position, with some of his key detachment commanders following the orders of the Italians rather than his, while the Chetniks were reliant on Italian air and artillery support, particularly around Jablanica.
189–190 During the American Civil War, the burning of Atlanta, Georgia and Sherman's March to the Sea in 1864 provided large-scale examples of the use of house demolition as a means of wrecking the enemy's economy. The Mediums wear special robes with bright colours. Most of the mediums are considered the reincarnation of an extraterrestrial giant people, "the Equitumans", who supposedly landed on the Earth 32,000 years ago, and later returned in successive reincarnations in civilizations like the Hittites, the Ionians, the Dorians, the Egyptians, the Greeks, the Romans, the Mayans etc. The Equitumans supposedly established themselves in the region of the Andes and are buried in Lake Titicaca, which was formed by a tear of the Glowing Star. According to the cosmology of the followers of the doctrine, Tia Neiva commanded the spiritual mission of this people on the Earth following the orders of the supreme commander, Pai Seta Branca (Father White Arrow), who seems to be an amalgam of several indigenous figures, Incan and American-Indian.

The pro-Beijing camp members are united by the political ideology of being closer to Beijing government, as much out of conviction as of pragmatism, but vary on other issues within the context of Hong Kong. Some pro-Beijing factions, including the "traditional leftists" who evolved from their Marxist-Leninist and Maoist conviction in the 1960s and 70s often hold a strong sentiment of patriotism and Chinese nationalism. They have had a years-long tradition of following the orders of the Communist Party of China (CPC), many of whom were also alleged underground members of the Communist Party. Amongst pragmatists, especially among the pro-business elites and tycoons who have been absorbed into Beijing's "United Front", have enjoyed political power and privileges, as well as economic interests, from the present political system and their close ties with the Beijing authorities.
