TransGeneration introduces viewers to four transgender college students—two trans women and two trans men—who are each studying at a different college in the United States during the 2004–2005 academic year. The series begins in the autumn of 2004, and concludes with an epilogue in the summer of 2005. Each episode revisits the students at an eventful time in their lives, and concentrates on life events that pertain directly to transgender experience. The youngest of the four is Raci, a first- year student at a state university near the West Coast of the United States.
After four years, Wingate left Charterhouse and in 1921 he was accepted at the Royal Military Academy at Woolwich, the Royal Artillery's officers' training school. Saki Miyanaga, a high school first-year student, does not like mahjong because her family would always force her to play it and punish her regardless of the outcome of the game. Due to this, she learned how to keep her score at zero, neither winning nor losing, a skill said to be more difficult than actually consistently winning. Kaneda first developed an interest in politics when a charter bus carrying Nihon Fukushi University students plunged into the Sai River in January 1985, killing the two drivers, a teacher and 22 first-year students. The cause of the accident was determined as driver fatigue due to being overworked. Kaneda, who was also a first-year student at the time, felt anger at a society that prioritised profit over human life, and felt it necessary to value the dignity of human life. Maxim Shchyogolev was born in Voronezh, to Valery Konstantinovich Shchyogolev, a Soviet Army officer, and Irina Alexandrovna, a doctor. He excelled at school and after the graduation joined the Drama faculty of the Voronezh State Academy of Arts. Here, as a first year student, he was noticed by the Moscow Luna Theatre's director Sergey Prokhanov who invited him to join his own troupe and transferred him to his own class in Russian Academy of Theatre Arts. In 2003, after the graduation, Shchyogolev joined the Moscow Art Theatre's Anatoly Vasilyev-led Drama Art studio, to study there under the supervision of the guest directors, Jerzy Grotowski and Thomas Richards.
During the Croatian War of Independence, in the Zagreb rocket attacks on 3 May 1995, the Academy's building was hit by cluster bombs fired on Zagreb's city centre (Donji grad). The dean's office and the dramaturgy department offices were badly damaged in the attack and two employees and four students were wounded, including Luka Skračić, a first-year student of film directing, who later died. In memory of this event, the Academy officially proclaimed 3 May as Academy Day and a plaque commemorating the attack was unveiled on its 10th anniversary in 2005. Adrian Ward Farmer (14 March 1895 – 5 August 1964) was an Australian rules footballer who played with University. Born in Melbourne to Paul Ward Farmer and Helena Joyce, Farmer was educated at Trinity Grammar School and later studied medicine at the University of Melbourne. While a first year student, Farmer player a solitary VFL game in the second last round of the 1914 VFL season, scoring two goals as an undermanned University team were defeated by Fitzroy. He also played district cricket for University from 1914 to 1919 He enlisted to serve in World War I in June 1918 but was never called up and was demobilized in December 1918.

Zhanna Bolotova was born in the Siberian resort Karachi Lake nearby Novosibirsk, on October 19, 1941. WHO WE ARE (2008) leftPottenger wrote and directed this performance about the lives and work of 8 members of Local 200, Service Employees International Union at Syracuse University. It was performed by the members themselves. Custodians, food service and maintenance workers, working in collaboration with Pottenger, developed and performed in a live piece about their lives and work. The original performance is now a part of First Year Student Orientation Week at SU. After viewing excerpts of the performance at a Labor & Arts Symposium, Chancellor Nancy Cantor reversed a long-standing policy of hiring nonunion construction companies, a policy the union had been fighting to win for years.
Hikari meets an older girl named Amane Ohtori early on in the story who is seen much like a prince from a fairy tale by other Spica students due to often riding a white horse named Star Bright. Amane is admired by many of the students from Spica as well as students from the other two schools, although she does not enjoy the attention. In the anime, Hikari admires her deeply, and she and Amane have mutual interest in each other. The final girl from Spica is Tsubomi Okuwaka, a young first year student who acts maturely for her age and gets on Yaya's nerves.

Zaborov was born in 1935 in Minsk to Abram Zaborov and Esfir Rappoport and, with his family, experienced the German invasion and occupation of Minsk in World War II. When his family returned to Minsk after the war, they found the city in ruins. In 1950 he enrolled in the Minsk Fine Arts School, leaving in 1953 for Leningrad and the entrance exams at the Academy of Fine Arts. Although he failed the exam, he was accepted the following year as a first year student. He describes his time at the Academy as a wonderfully self-contained existence, relatively isolated from the Soviet system.
