Black River Black River Falls was founded to utilize the waterpower of the Black River. As the area was predominantly forest at the time, its primary use was in operating sawmills. A large monument to Black River Falls' veterans of World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, as well as to local Medal of Honor recipient Mitchell Red Cloud, Jr., was erected near the Chamber of Commerce Building at 101 S. 2nd Street. Bissell not only accepted the challenge, but in his rights as the party challenged, specified army muskets, loaded with ball and buckshot, at close range. Davis then cleverly accepted further explanation for the seemingly offensive comments in Bissell's speech, but lost face with some in backing down. An interesting note is that this incident, though hostilities were never commenced on the field of honor, disqualified Bissell from holding state office in Illinois, according to the state Constitution of 1848. All state officials, as a part of their inauguration oath, had to swear as to never having participated in a duel, either by fighting in one, accepting a challenge or even acting as a second.

After failing to capture the title, Roderick Strong began campaigning for a match against IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada, the only one of the top three NJPW talents (alongside Hiroshi Tanahashi and Shinsuke Nakamura) he had yet to wrestle. Okada accepted the challenge, setting the two up for a match at Field of Honor, where Okada was victorious. Strong finally received a rematch with Lethal for the ROH World Championship on the August 21 episode of ROH Wrestling, but was defeated.

Every year, VMI honors its fallen cadets with a New Market Day parade and ceremony. These events take place on 15 May, the same day as the Battle of New Market in which the VMI cadets fought during the Civil War that was in 1864. During this ceremony, the roll is called for cadets who "died on the Field of Honor" and wreaths are placed on the graves of those who died during the Battle of New Market. The requirement that all cadets wishing to eat dinner in the mess hall must be present for a prayer was the basis for a lawsuit in 2002 when two cadets sued VMI over the prayer said before dinner.

The following day, Matt Sydal would defeat ACH in the first match of the Best of 5 Series. The day after that, ACH would defeat Matt Sydal in the second match of the series with both matches taking place at the ROH Reloaded Tour. Prior to the first match of the series, ROH announced on August 22 that the third match of the ACH–Sydal series would take place at All Star Extravaganza VII. On August 9, 2015 it was announced that The Briscoes (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) would issue an open challenge to any tag team in Ring of Honor to face them at All Star Extravaganza, after defeating RPG Vice (Rocky Romero and Baretta at Death Before Dishonor XIII and defeating Time Splitters (Alex Shelley and Kushida at Field of Honor.

Taylor made his first match in ROH on November 15, 2014, during a dark match at Glory By Honor XIII where he lost to J. Diesel. During 2015, he made a few team matches with Keith Lee, most of whom were not televised, and made themselves known under the name of "Pretty Boy Killers". On August 27, 2016, during Field of Honor, they participated in a gauntlet tag team match in order to have an opportunity for the ROH World Tag Team Championship, but this match was won by The Addiction. At All Star Extravaganza VIII, they received another chance to have a championship match for these belts alongside The All Night Express, War Machine and the team of Colt Cabana and Dalton Castle, but Lee and Taylor lost the match.
