Educational opportunities offered through these offices include online and in-person classes, seminars, workshops, field days, publications and news releases. In addition, extension agents provide one-on-one advice and, increasingly, use the Internet to disseminate educational information. Topics covered include agriculture and natural resources; lawns and gardens; environmental protection and resource conservation; family life; health and nutrition; housing and emergency preparedness; and youth development through the 4-H program.

Affiliated with the Kucadikadi tribe, she wove baskets for her own use and that of others in the tribe. An innovative weaver, she incorporated materials and motifs that were not common in the Mono Lake Paiute basketweaving tradition. In the 1920s, she produced fancy three-rod woven baskets for non-Indian markets and continued making them until her death.

Amateur radio operators are experienced in improvising antennas and power sources and most equipment today can be powered by an automobile battery. Annual "Field Days" are held in many countries to practice these emergency improvisational skills. Amateur radio operators can use hundreds of frequencies and can quickly establish networks tying disparate agencies together to enhance interoperability. Kate Haber ( Sauks, born August 31, 1984) is a Canadian national rower. She won bronze at the 2016 World Rowing Championships in Rotterdam while competing in the lightweight women's sculls. Haber is the reigning two-time Pan American Games Champion when she won gold in lightweight women's double sculls with gold with Liz Fenje at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto, and Jaclyn Stelmaszyk at the 2019 Pan Am Games in Lima. She started rowing at the University of Toronto after injuries from her track and field days in the pole vault and pentathlon events forced her to move to a new sport.

Lawnparties at Colonial Club, 2015, featuring Lil Dicky Continuing its established traditions originating from the Roaring Twenties, Colonial frequently hosts events for its members and guests including game nights, intramural sports, semiformals, and winter and spring houseparties. Located on Loon Pond, Sabattus, Maine, Camporees have been held on this council property since at least 1947. The camp has been a regular site for Abnaki district (surrounding Auburn, Lisbon, Lewiston, Norway, Pris, and Bethel in Androsscoggin and Oxford Counties) events including camporees, Cub events, and district Cub Day Camps. Although a favorite of Abnaki, many units from other parts of the Council have camped there, taken part in "Beaver" work days, and done service projects to improve campsites.
