Their fellow competitors all checked in with the brothers prior to continuing on to the next stage of the race. Mariano and Brkich ultimately finished in second place behind married couple Uchenna and Joyce. Amongst fans, there has been much speculation surrounding the final leg of the race. It has been argued that the production crew had intervened with the airport authorities and aided Uchenna and Joyce onto the same earlier plane as Mariano and Brkich.

My Kitchen Rules is an American competitive cooking reality show, based on the original Australian format of the same name. The eight-episode series premiered on January 12, 2017 and is produced by 7 Beyond and broadcast on the Fox network. The program sees teams of two take turns hosting a dinner party at their home, attempting to impress their fellow competitors as well as professional judges Curtis Stone and Cat Cora. Teams with the lowest score after each round are eliminated.

Akiyo Noguchi is world renowned for her incredible technique and mobility. Udo Neumann, a German climbing coach, published a video of some of her best performances throughout her career, analyzing the qualities that have allowed her to excel in climbing. This video, entitled "Factors Deciding Bouldering Comps - the Art of Akiyo Noguchi," emphasizes her adaptability, which enables her to come up with unique solutions to the problems she encounters. Furthermore, her mobility allows her to do moves that elude her fellow competitors.

The international destination of the season was once again Paris, to where Gutman already took the girls from Season 1. After the original top 3 was chosen, the nine prior eliminated girls received another chance to compete in the final when all of them were brought back in Episode 12. At the end of that episode, all twelve girls voted for which girl they wanted to be in the final. Tslil Sela, previously eliminated by her fellow competitors, then received the most votes.

In October 2003 Escobar threatened to boycott the World Championships that were being held in Vancouver, Canada later that year unless the governing committee canceled a twenty thousand dollar fine that was imposed on a fellow competitor. During the twentieth leg, Magni attacked with Fausto Coppi when his fellow competitors had stopped to change their tires. Magni's efforts gave him the race lead and ultiamtely his third Giro d'Italia victory. The 1956 edition of the Giro was without much drama until the twenty-first stage that stretched from Merano to the summit finish on Monte Bondone, a mountain in the Dolomites. The stage was bitterly cold with temperatures near that forced over sixty riders to abandon the race including the race leader Pasquale Fornara.

Said contestant would be given a mission to complete and if they failed they would automatically be eliminated from the competition. They chose Brigitte who ultimately passed her mission and was allowed to eliminate two of her fellow competitors (she chose Katrine and Kit). The final three contestants, Marlene Thinggaard and Hugo and Morten Kleister, took part in a final challenge which would determine the winner. Ultimately, Hugo Kleister beat out his cousin Morten and Marlene Thinggaard to win the grand prize of 250,000 Danish krones.

Steve Berke started playing in tennis tournaments at the age of 7. At age 14, he won his first national championship and represented the United States in the World Team Championships in Japan against fellow competitors Roger Federer and Lleyton Hewitt. When he was 16 years old, he represented the United States again, along with Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish, making it to the quarterfinals of the Orange Bowl. He left home to live and train at the Nick Bollettieri tennis academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Each week, there would be two segments of competition – one with regards to acting, and another for hosting – which all comes with a particular theme. Lietzke's best finish in a major on the PGA Tour was a solo second place at the 1991 PGA Championship. Lietzke was well known for not practicing a great deal, and not playing in a large number of tournaments compared to his fellow competitors, electing to spend more time with his family. He did not play more than 25 events in any PGA Tour season and never played more than 20 tournaments in a single season after 1988. Despite this he never finished below 74th on the money list.

At those Olympics, he was involved in a close-run final race in the 400m competition, where he was placed fourth. Singh had beaten all the leading contenders other than Otis Davis, and a medal had been anticipated because of his good form. However, he made an error when leading the race at 250m, slowing down in the belief that his pace could not be sustained and looking round at his fellow competitors. Singh believes that these errors caused him to lose his medal opportunity and they are his "worst memory".

Beginning on July 8, 2007, a parody of Survivor called Total Drama Island appeared on the television network Cartoon Network. This animated show included 22 summer campers who signed up to stay at a five-star resort, which actually turned out to be a cruddy summer camp on an island somewhere in Muskoka, Ontario. The host, Chris McLean, is modeled after Survivor host Jeff Probst. The campers are taken to the island on boats to meet their fellow competitors, being heartbroken at the sight of their wasted summer.

He is now retired from wrestling altogether, but has instead made a successful career in racing vintage and post-vintage motocross bikes-mainly in American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association events. He is known for his sportsmanship and generosity with fellow competitors, where he can be seen racing several national AHRMA events annually.

On 19 June 2020, Zanardi was involved in a serious accident whilst competing in the Obiettivo tricolore Italian national road race for paralympic athletes. The accident happened on State Highway 146 between Pienza and San Quirico. According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Zanardi was descending down a hill when he lost control of his handbike and veered into an oncoming truck, leading to severe facial and cranial trauma. Emergency services attended the scene after his fellow competitors helped to raise the alarm, and Zanardi was airlifted to the Santa Maria alle Scotte Hospital in Siena.

In February he won the 63 kg category bronze medal in the U.S. Open held in Reno, Nevada. He won the qualifier tournament 58 kg gold medal and qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics and for the first time his country would have more than one representative, when two other fellow competitors also qualified. He considered this qualification revealed the country's new level as they test themselves at that high standard, they would fight for medals no matter what kind. After the qualifier, he won the 63 kg bronze medal in the Mexico Open, held in the same venue.

Ong Beng Hee began playing squash when he was eight – at the 17-court club his squash- enthusiast father had built in Malaysia. He first came to international attention in January 1994 when he won the British Junior Under-14 Open title in England. A year later he reached the final of the Under-16 British Open, eventually winning the Under-16 title in January 1996. Later that year, he reached the semi-finals of the 1996 World Junior Open in Egypt, competing as a 16-year-old in an event in which most fellow competitors were at least two years older.

Luffy and the rest of the crew are forced to fight for their lives when they stumble on the truth of Doflamingo's operations, who attempts to kill everyone in Dressrosa to keep the truth of his rule hidden. In the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City Boit finished 64th in the sprint race, beating three competitors. After the Salt Lake City Olympics Boit left competitive skiing again, but came back to participate in the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin where he finished 92nd in the 15 km Classic, ahead of five fellow competitors. Boit said in a 2006 interview that he was planning to retire after 2010 Winter Olympics to be held in Vancouver. In 2007, he competed in the World Ski Championships held in Sapporo, Japan, the same country where he started his Olympic career.

After making a fuel stop, on his 24th lap Pierre Levegh crashed his Maserati through a barrier, killing two spectators, after his engine seized. Not long after half distance, Chiron looked to be experiencing engine problems as an oiled plug caused stuttering. Although this quickly cleared, it was clear that Chiron's car was not running well, and if not for his fellow competitors experiencing trouble themselves he would not have been competitive.

Several times during his amateur career, Stranahan ran afoul of Clifford Roberts, the chairman of Augusta National Golf Club and the Masters Tournament, because of his unsportsmanlike conduct, which violated club and tournament rules. Notably, Stranahan was warned, and then finally suspended from the tournament in 1948, for playing more than one ball during practice rounds, although he had finished as runner-up the previous year. Stranahan appealed unsuccessfully to Bobby Jones, as well as fellow competitors, to be reinstated. Stranahan was invited to compete again the following year, despite the controversy, which continued, due to his failure to respect the rules.

In April 1862, the Church of Ireland, in pursuit of a larger, more attractive cathedral, and determined to reassert its authority in response to a resurgent Catholicism, initiated a competition for a replacement building, which became the commission for the first cathedral to be built in the British Isles since London's St Paul's. The following February, the designs of the architect William Burges, then 35, were declared the winner of the competition to build the new cathedral. Tyler Denk (born September 26, 1976) is an American model notable for his appearance on tenth season of The Amazing Race, which he won along with teammate James Branaman. Born in Columbus, Ohio, Denk and his teammate Branaman both traveled four continents, 13 countries and 44,000 miles before crossing the finish line in Garrison, New York. In an interview after the finale, Denk said one of the main causes that they won The Amazing Race was because their cab driver had an E-ZPass when they came to a toll whereas fellow competitors Rob & Kimberly's cab driver did not.Interview with AOL TV Editor Kelly Woo after the finale December 11, 2006.

Weightlifting at the Pacific Games has been contested since 1966 when it was included as one of twelve sports at the Second South Pacific Games held in Nouméa, New Caledonia. A weightlifting competition for women was introduced in 1995 for the games in Papeete. In accordance with the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) classifications, there are presently eight weight classes for the men's competition and seven for the women's competition at the Pacific Games (known as the South Pacific Games prior to 2009).

Nicknamed "Bad Ass" by his driving instructor colleagues at PalmerSport in 1999, for being "as fearsome a competitor you could ever find", Wilson was friendly, shy, endearing, soft-spoken and highly analytical. His technical shrewdness provided teams with extensive performance alterations to improve a race car. According to Racers Mark Glendenning this made Wilson a driver who "commanded universal respect" from fellow competitors. For DailySportsCar editor Graham Goodwin it created an image of Wilson as "a very rare breed indeed, a man in the modern age who had competed at the highest level in multiple motorsport disciplines", and a driver who "had the cutting edge".

Despite having won a battle round against fellow competitors the Shields Brothers, her vocal performance has been panned by fans and critics alike, as well as Voice coach Cee Lo Green himself.

Peugeot believes that the R15 features aerodynamic elements on the front of the car which violate the ACO's regulations about devices which may increase the amount of front downforce. Peugeot, as well as fellow competitors Aston Martin Racing and Oreca, initially questioned these aerodynamic elements at the 2009 12 Hours of Sebring in March, but were assured that the ACO would evaluate them prior to Le Mans. Major League Fishing (MLF) is a professional bass fishing league and television show that airs on Outdoor Channel, World Fishing Network and Discovery Channel. The league was established in partnership between the Professional Bass Tour Anglers' Association (PBTAA) and Outdoor Channel as an answer to other professional fishing tournaments that the anglers compete in. The show focuses on personalities and struggles of anglers in competition rather than purely on results. Major League Fishing was the top-rated show on Outdoor Channel and is different from other professional fishing tournaments in that the events are catch and release and fisherman have a constant update on how fellow competitors are doing through iPads on their boats.

Schwarzenegger had been hired to provide color commentary for network television when he announced at the eleventh hour that, while he was there, "Why not compete?" Schwarzenegger ended up winning the event with only seven weeks of preparation. Having been declared Mr. Olympia for a seventh time, Schwarzenegger then officially retired from competition. At the 2014 Safeway Championship Men's Provincial Curling, Kelly along with Allan Lyburn, were named the inaugural recipients of The Pat Spiring Memorial Award. This award is presented annually to a Safeway Championship competitor who, in the opinion of his fellow competitors, exemplifies excellence combined with competitive spirit, love of the game, and respect for the spirit and traditions of curling.

Sandbagging is frowned upon by track owners and fellow competitors since it is clearly not a fair way to compete, so some race directors will bump someone up or ask them to move up if they feel they are in the wrong class. Some tracks have explicit rules where you have to bump up if you have won a certain number of races in one class. Often apparent sandbagging is not intentional, and is actually the result of someone sincerely misjudging their own skill level. This can happen if someone is new to the track and doesn't know their level in comparison to others, or if they have not competed for some time and are not sure they can immediately regain their previous skill level.

After reaching the status of "top money winner on this year's [LPGA] tour," Blalock was competing in the Bluegrass Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky by mid May 1972. After the second round the LPGA executive board called Blalock in to tell her she was disqualified from the tournament, contending that she signed an incorrect scorecard and also levying a $500 fine. Although Blalock's scorecards had been signed and attested by fellow competitors, Tourney director Gene Mcauliff stated that Blalock "did not mark her ball properly on the 17th green and then failed to take a two-stroke penalty as required for that infraction." Ungar's drug problem escalated to such a point that during the WSOP Main Event in 1990, Ungar was found on the third day of the tournament unconscious on the floor of his hotel room from a drug overdose. However, he had such a chip lead that even when the dealers kept taking his blinds out every orbit, Ungar still made the final table and finished ninth, pocketing $25,050. His addiction took such a physical toll that in an ESPN piece, many of Ungar's friends and fellow competitors said that they thought that he would not live to see his fortieth birthday. In the same piece, one friend said that the only thing that kept him alive was his determination to see his daughter grow up.

The 84th Indianapolis 500 was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana on Sunday, May 28, 2000. After four years of an ongoing organizational dispute and "split" in Indy car racing, Chip Ganassi Racing became the first CART-based team to compete at the race since 1995.. The Ganassi team of Jimmy Vasser and Juan Pablo Montoya competed as a one-off entry, and were well received by fans and fellow competitors. Both drivers were quickly up to speed with the IRL regulars, and were expected to be favorites in both qualifying and on race day. Also making a heralded return to Indianapolis was two-time winner Al Unser Jr. who had switched full-time to the IRL in 2000.

Marcin Mroziński, who made it to the semifinals but was eliminated in the wildcard round, went on to establish a musical career before becoming one of polish most popular singers and represented Poland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2010 where he was eliminated in the semifinals.

Irvan's next victory came later in the season at Watkins Glen International Raceway. The race was marred by the death of popular veteran J. D. McDuffie. Irvan ended the year with two victories, three second-place and four fourth-place finishes among his eleven top-five and nineteen top-10 finishes in 29 starts. He finished the year fifth in Winston Cup driver standings and won $1,079,017. Irvan also picked up his first Busch Grand National Series win in the AC-Delco 200 at Rockingham. During this time, Irvan came under more controversy due to his aggressive driving style, earning him the nickname "Swervin' Irvan" by his fellow competitors. Irvan apologized to his fellow drivers in a televised speech at the driver's meeting before the 1991 Diehard 500.

Brock in his Mobil 1 Racing Sierra would prove to be the Shell team's most consistent challenger, finishing third in the championship, his highest placing since he finished third in 1985. Most observers felt that Brock adapted to the powerful Sierra's quicker than most, though he readily admitted his link with Rouse and the technical help he gave was a big factor in the Mobil teams revival. Also, unlike most of his fellow competitors when they started racing the Sierra's, Brock wasn't a stranger to racing turbocharged cars having raced a Porsche 956B at Silverstone and Le Mans in the 1984 World Sportscar Championship. Other driver/team changes in 1989 included a new Ford Sierra team for former Nissan driver Glenn Seton who took Nissan's Peter Jackson cigarette sponsorship with him to his new team.

They first secured an injury time victory against fellow competitors for the European places in the table, Newcastle. Vermaelen scored the winner in the fifth minute of added time at the end of the match, after Van Persie had drawn the teams level early in the first half. It was Vermaelen who again secured all three points in Arsenal's next match, away to Everton, a victory that was also enough to propel Arsenal above Tottenham into third place in the league table. A 3–0 victory against Aston Villa, with goals from Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott and Mikel Arteta, took Arsenal's run of form to seven consecutive Premier League victories, a feat the team had not managed since October 2007, as well as strengthening their position in third place.

On May 26, 2017, Fin & Field named Dillon the Most Interesting Sportsman in the World for the Spring of 2017. On November 20, 2017, Ty became a father as he and Haley Dillon had a daughter named Oakley Ray Dillon. Dillon does weekly vlogs following his personal and racing life in a series called The Ride similar to fellow competitors Brennan Poole, Noah Gragson, Anthony Alfredo, Ryan Vargas, Justin Haley, and Brett Moffitt. Dillon formerly co-owned sports management agency Team Dillon Management with his brother Austin Dillon which currently manages both themselves, John Hunter Nemechek, AJ Allmendinger, Anthony Alfredo, Tanner Thorson, Kaulig Racing, Brian Gay, and Chris Stroud. On December 5, 2019 Dillon announced he would leave TDM and join fellow competitor Kevin Harvick’s KHI Management Agency.

Friends and political admirers of McGovern initially feared the effort would prove an embarrassment, and McGovern knew himself that his chances of winning were remote, but he felt compelled to try to influence the intraparty debate in a liberal direction.Miroff, The Liberals' Moment, p. 270. Freed from the practical concerns of trying to win, McGovern outlined a ten-point program of sweeping domestic and foreign policy changes; because he was not seen as a threat, fellow competitors did not attack his positions, and media commentators praised him as the "conscience" of the Democratic Party. Anderson won a bronze medal in the big air event at the 2019 Winter X Games Aspen. She also participated the 2019 FIS Snowboard World Championships where she won a bronze medal and denounced the FIS President Gian-Franco Kasper in response to an article from Deadspin, where Kasper "denied the existence of climate change and spoke disparagingly about immigrants and lauded the ease of working with dictators to organize Olympic Games." Her winnings in that event were donated to Protect Our Winters and on her Instagram post, she urged her fellow competitors to do the same thing. In 2020, she won a gold medal in the slopestyle event at the 2020 Burton US Open and at the 2020 Winter X Games Aspen, where she became the most-medaled female competitor in the history of X Games.

Upon his arrival in Los Angeles, Guy meets the director of the spelling bee, Dr. Bernice Deagan, who expresses anger at his participation in the bee and places him and his reporter in a cheap hotel. Guy learns that Chaitanya is staying in the same hotel, and takes him out one night to expose Chaitanya to the wilder side of life: stealing food, drinking, and hiring a prostitute to briefly "flash" Chaitanya. In the bee, Guy actively tries to distract and disconcert his fellow competitors, at one point insinuating that he was sleeping with another contestant's mother. Despite Dr. Deagan's tampering with the word list to give Guy the most difficult words, he spells long, complicated words with relative ease, impressing and angering both parents and staff at the spelling bee, including the event's founder, Dr. William Bowman.

However, with just 3 laps to go Walker's engine blew, allowing Hodgson to take the title. He also won two races of the British rounds of the Superbike World Championship that year as a 'wildcard' entry – one at Donington Park and one at Brands Hatch. The most memorable race of Hodgson's British Superbike title winning year was at Oulton Park, when he started race 1 from the back of the grid due after he stalled his bike, and ended up winning the race in breathtaking style, much to the amazement of the British crowd and his fellow competitors. The most controversial moment of the season came in race 2, when him and Walker came together on the final lap of the race battling for the win, resulting in Walker going down and Hodgson receiving a post-race penalty.

Kobyluck's 2009 car Kobyluck began his career in 1993 driving in the popular Late Model division at Waterford Speedbowl in his home state of Connecticut. There, he posted numerous wins, top-five, and top-10 finishes – proving his ability to maneuver around the tight confines of a 3/8 mile bullring. His ease behind the wheel caught the attention of fellow competitors, and before long, he was asked to add to his already demanding schedule by piloting a car in the Modified division. His continued success left Kobyluck looking for new challenges. In 1997, the Uncasville native moved on to Stafford Motor Speedway’s Pro Stock division. The demanding ½-mile track proved to be the challenge Kobyluck needed as he looked forward to NASCAR’s premier regional series – the NASCAR Camping World East Series (then called the Busch North Series).

Bolles and Allen He became known among fellow competitors as Charlie Brown, because he liked to clown around, and the name of his boat evoked the character of the same name from the Peanuts comic strip by Charles Schulz. As Blackaller became more accomplished he began competing internationally, initially in the 6-Meter class. In 1969 the St. Francis Yacht Club became involved in the Australian-American Challenge, a new international 6-Meter competition. The club bought an Olin Stephens-designed 6-Meter named Toogooloowoo IV, originally owned by John Taylor of Australia. Renamed St. Francis, Blackaller helmed her to victory in the November 1970 challenge in Australia, defeating the very same John Taylor and his new Stephens Six, Toogooloowoo V. The first World Cup in 6-Meters was held in Seattle in 1973, which Blackaller also won.Street Blackaller's fame in yacht racing grew largely through sailing 12 Meters in his America's Cup campaigns of 1980, 1983 and 1986.

Goddard, who came second, lacked the resources of Borghese and had to beg fellow competitors for fuel. In a desperate attempt to catch up, he set an endurance record for non-stop driving for 24 hours. The prince's prize was simply a magnum of Mumm champagne, and the red colour of his 1907 Itala car was adopted by Italy as its racing colour in his honour. In Formula One, the colour was not determined by the country the car was made in nor by the nationality of the driver(s) but by the nationality of the team entering the vehicle. A yellow Ferrari 156 was entered and driven as a private car in the 1961 Belgian Grand Prix by Olivier Gendebien from Belgium, scoring 4th behind 3 other Ferrari 156s painted in red as they were entered by the Scuderia Ferrari works team itself, and driven by US drivers Phil Hill and Richie Ginther as well as German Wolfgang von Trips.

Stranahan worked with several golf instructors in an attempt to find the perfect swing; he was characterized by his fellow competitors as someone who experimented too much with his game, with a 'made' swing as opposed to a 'natural' swing, although his short game was very well respected. Stranahan became good friends with the young Gary Player, then, in the mid-1950s, just beginning to make his mark on the professional circuit, with advice on fitness, which Player successfully incorporated into his own training and preparation which Player had been training on since a boy. Stranahan drew chuckles from many by traveling to golf tournaments with his weightlifting equipment, but was in fact pioneering an eventual method which would become the norm several decades later, with the Tour supplying staffed workout facilities to players at Tour events by the 1980s. Stranahan was known as something of a playboy during his amateur years, before settling down with his marriage in 1954.

Throughout the start of the 2014–15 season, Collin was a pivotal member of the Rotherham side that maintained unlikely survival in the Championship, despite a late 3 point deduction, and a sizeable gulf in the budgets available at Rotherham and their fellow competitors. Collin was the main starter for Steve Evans as he picked him over Scott Loach and loan signing Emiliano Martinez of Arsenal and despite some dip in form towards the latter stages of the season, being replaced by Martinez in particular, played 36 times in the league and once in the FA Cup and was even named in an article in The Guardian as one of the Football League Championship's six most influential players. At the start of the 2015–16 season, Collin was relegated to second choice keeper, with first Kelle Roos and later Lee Camp being chosen ahead of him. He made just two first team appearances, and on 15 January 2016, he was allowed to join Aberdeen on loan for the remainder of the season.

A few days later, the stakes became even clearer: the Berlin critics savaged the first of Busoni's concerts on 8 November, the program of which included selections from Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius, the Overture to Saint-Saëns' opera Les Barbares, and Sinding's Rondo Infinito. This was the environment into which Sibelius stepped as second on Busoni's 15 November program, which also included Delius's orchestral nocturne Paris, Théophile Ysaÿe's Piano Concerto, and Ödön Mihalovich's ballad The Death of Pan ("my fellow competitors", as Sibelius referred to them in a 12–13 November letter to his wife, Aino). Sibelius was under constant stress: during the journey to Germany, he labored over the orchestral parts, many of which contained copy errors; upon arrival, he fumed over being second on the program and was annoyed that the promised rehearsals had both been scheduled for 13 November. Nevertheless, the rehearsals went well and the players reacted favorably to the tone poem: as Sibelius told Aino, "It is so beautiful... Busoni even embraced me".
