This can lead to a period of questioning authority in all domains.

There are hundreds of different things that he can identify with, for example, his talents, occupation, routines, lack of self-confidence, rebellious side, disease, religion, hypocrisy, nationality, looks, his ideas, sexuality, work, title, family, circle of friends, diet, home, car, etc.

Manning, Engine Number 5, arriving at 11:22 p.m., testified that the scene doors were about two-thirds open, with "one or two men attempting to bring something out of these doors." Abner C. Keeny, part owner and contractor of the building, commenting on the fire the following morning, believed that the sudden inrush of air from the scenic entrance fanned the fire and triggered its spread from the stage to the theatre at large, leading to the rapid advance of smoke onto the family circle.

His prominence naturally created jealousy among his competitors, and the Inquisition gave them an excellent opportunity of trying to get him into trouble. Although on the surface, Dr. Nunis was as good a Catholic as any churchgoing Christian, the leaders of the Portuguese Inquisition took note of the warnings given to them by the doctor's enemies. They managed to smuggle an "agent" into the household of the Nunez family in the guise of a servant, so they would be informed of what went on within the family circle. Eventually, the agent reported that the Nunis family definitely was practicing the Jewish religion in secret.

In a process akin to the division of labour which makes exchange necessary, one's daughter or sister is offered to someone outside a family circle, and starts a circle of exchange of women: in return, the giver is entitled to a woman from the other's intimate kinship group. Thus the negative prescriptions of the prohibition have positive counterparts.Claude Lévi-Strauss, Les structures élémentaires de la parenté, Paris, Mouton, 1967, 2ème édition, p.60 The idea of the alliance theory is thus of a reciprocal or a generalized exchange which founds affinity, just as economic exchange due to the division of labour resulted in organic solidarity.

Stone cameos of great artistry were made in Greece dating back as far as the 3rd century BC. The Farnese Tazza (a cup) is the oldest major Hellenistic piece surviving. They were very popular in Ancient Rome, especially in the family circle of Augustus. The most famous stone "state cameos" from this period are the Gemma Augustea, the Gemma Claudia made for the Emperor Claudius, and the largest flat engraved gem known from antiquity, the Great Cameo of France.

Despite this separation, Victoria was particularly close to her sister Frances Balfour, who in 1868 described Victoria's bedroom as "the centre of the fun and mischief that was going on in the family circle". Victoria underwent multiple treatments and surgeries to alleviate the paralysis in her legs, and after physical therapy she was eventually able to use crutches and walking sticks. She was obsessively timid outside the family circle to the point of turning her back on her partners in conversation without saying a word. With a single novel, Wuthering Heights (1847), and poems with an elemental power, she reached the heights of literature. Though she was almost unknown during her life, posterity classes her as "top level" in the literary canon"The place of Wuthering Heights in the literary canon is assured" : see the synopsis of Wuthering Heights in the Critical commentary of Heather Glen, p. 351.

On the issue of contraception it said "what is always to be condemned is not the regulation of conception, but an egotistic married life, refusing a creative opening-out of the family circle ... this is the anti- conception that is against the Christian ideal of marriage. A younger son died in one of the first battles of World War I on the East Prussian front. Returning to diplomacy in 1886, he became First Secretary at the Embassy in Vienna, and from 1897 to 1903 he was the Ambassador to Denmark. The Copenhagen post gave him a vantage point for watching the principal moving powers of European politics since the matrimonial alliances of the Danish royal family occasionally brought together in a friendly family circle the widow of Alexander III, Nicholas II and the Prince of Wales who was to become King Edward VII. In this way, Count Benckendorff received his initiation into the spirit of an Anglo-Russian rapprochement even before it actually resulted in an entente.

She went on to add that "the first break in the family circle is hard to bear, but people have been so kind& sympathetic& this has helped us much." George described his son's death simply as "the greatest mercy possible".

Influenced in early childhood by musical styles such as ragtime, rhythm & blues, soul, African variety and world music, Moona finally chooses Hip Hop as the privileged expression of her musical creativity. Trained as a lawyer, it is not without difficulty, but with a lot of determination that Moona manages to combine studies and music.
But UPI decided to hand over operations of Newstime on April 30, 1981 to an Atlanta- based television & radio production company, Eastern Broadcast Services (EBS), with the intention of EBS continuning the Newstime service. Shortly after EBS took over UPI Newstime in 1981, they merged the channel with another similar SSTV-transmitted cable TV network founded by Southern Satellite Systems (the corporate parent of Satellite Syndicated Systems, the uplink provider for UPI Newstime as mentioned earlier), called The Women's Channel. Unlike UPI Newstime, The Women's Channel transmitted their stills in color, although in the same technical fashion as UPI Newstime (albeit using a wider 10-kHz subcarrier for their color SSTV feed), featuring content adapted from partnering publications such as Family Circle magazine. The merged operation was then renamed North American Newstime.
Alexander III and Maria Feodorovna in the family circle on the porch of his home in Langinkoski, Finland in summer 1889. Alexander and his wife regularly spent their summers at Langinkoski manor along the Kymi River near Kotka on the Finnish coast, where their children were immersed in a Scandinavian lifestyle of relative modesty. Alexander rejected foreign influence, German influence in particular, thus the adoption of local national principles was deprecated in all spheres of official activity, with a view to realizing his ideal of a Russia homogeneous in language, administration and religion. These ideas conflicted with those of his father, who had German sympathies despite being a patriot; Alexander II often used the German language in his private relations, occasionally ridiculed the Slavophiles and based his foreign policy on the Prussian alliance.
Larcher de Brito at the 2010 Family Circle Cup In June came her best result of the season, a third round showing in Birmingham, where she lost to Kaia Kanepi, after defeating Ekaterina Dzehalevich and Olga Govortsova in the first two rounds. This was followed with a first round loss at Wimbledon against world No. 1 and eventual champion Serena Williams. The American hard-court season also proved to be unsuccessful with failed qualification attempts at Stanford and San Diego and a first round loss at the US Open against world No. 159 Sania Mirza (after she won three qualifying matches against Karolína Plíšková, Anastasiya Yakimova and Alexandra Panova). She finished the year at the $75k event in Albuquerque with another first round, straight set-loss to Daria Gavrilova.
On 13 April 1986, Graf won her first WTA tournament and beat Evert for the first time in the final of the Family Circle Cup in Hilton Head, South Carolina. (She never lost to Evert again, beating her six more times over the next three and a half years.) Graf then won her next three tournaments at Amelia Island, Charleston, and Berlin, culminating in a 6–2, 6–3 defeat of Navratilova in the final of the latter. Illness caused her to miss Wimbledon, and an accident where she broke a toe several weeks later also curtailed her play. She returned to win a small tournament at Mahwah just before the US Open where, in one of the most anticipated matches of the year, she encountered Navratilova in a semifinal.
Another London journal reported: :We are almost inclined to pronounce it the prettiest theatre in London. It is in the flat horse-shoe form, the stage being well within sight and hearing of every part of the auditorium. This comprises rows of comfortable and elegant stalls on the floor, with three tiers or circles extending nearly round the house as dress-circle, family-circle, and amphitheatre, respectively, and six private boxes on either side of the stage. The design of construction reflects the highest credit on Mr F. H. Fowler, the architect, and the chaste and elegant decorations of Mr K. W. Bradwell deserve great praise."Opera Comique", The Examiner and London Review, 5 November 1870, p. 713 The theatre opened under the name "Royal Opera Comique" on 29 October 1870.
Then, at the Oaks Club Challenger in Osprey, Florida, she made it to the quarterfinals, with wins over Melinda Czink and Eugenie Bouchard, where she was beaten by Edina Gallovits-Hall. Next, Hradecká went on to beat Urszula Radwańska in the first round of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, before losing to Stefanie Vögele. After losing early in Estoril, Hradecká qualified for Madrid. She caused the two biggest upsets in the tournament by beating both the world No. 4, Petra Kvitová (who also was the defending champion) and the world No. 5, Samantha Stosur, on the way to her first ever semifinals appearance at the Premier level, where she lost to Serena Williams in straight sets, 6–7(5–7), 0–6 and won just six points in the second set.
While all seven of the magazines were aimed at women, they all had divergent beginnings. Family Circle and Woman's Day were both originally conceived as circulars for grocery stores (Piggly Wiggly and A&P;); McCall's and Redbook were known for a text-heavy format focusing on quality fiction; Good Housekeeping was aimed at affluent housewives. Ladies' Home Journal was originally a single-page supplement to a general interest magazine, while Better Homes and Gardens began as a blending of woman's magazine and home design journal. Through the 1990s, in the face of declining readership and advertising revenue, the Seven Sisters attempted to differentiate themselves from each other and from the rest of the market, relying on either incremental tweaks to their formula or wholesale changes in the format of the magazine.
She was then commissioned by the city for several projects, including Family Circle (1996), a bronze sculpture on Elm Hill Avenue in Roxbury, depicting a mother and father embracing to protect their child; The Sentinel (2003), which depicts an African woman watching over the Forest Hills Cemetery; and Rise (2005), a 20-foot granite and bronze monument in Mattapan Square, which celebrates the diverse history of Mattapan. One of her best known works is the Harriet Tubman memorial, titled Step on Board, in Boston's South End. The seven-by-ten foot bronze sculpture stands at the entrance to Harriet Tubman Park, which is a stop on the Boston Women's Heritage Trail. It depicts a young Harriet Tubman carrying a Bible, leading a small group of men and women to freedom.
In the first round of the main draw, she had a decisive two-sets victory over former top ten player Patty Schnyder, and backed it up by winning a tough match against 2010 Wimbledon semifinalist Tsvetana Pironkova in three sets, to advance to the third round, where she was sent crashing out of the tournament by fifth seed Francesca Schiavone in two sets. At the Sony Ericsson Open, she fell in the first round to Virginie Razzano. After this, she played the Family Circle Cup but again suffered an early elimination in the first round to Arvidsson for the second time that year. Seeded eighth at the Grand Prix SAR La Princesse Lalla Meryem, Cornet was beaten by former world No. 1 Dinara Safina in the second round.
The gala opening on April 12, 1905 was completely sold out, with seats being priced at as little as 25 cents in the theatre's "Family Circle", while others had been auctioned off for as much as $575. The performance was a four-hour extravaganza, the first act of which was called A Yankee Circus on Mars, which featured space ships, horses, elephants, acrobats, clowns – including the noted Spanish clown Marceline – a baboon named Coco, an orchestra of 60, hundreds of singers, and 150 dancers performing to Ponchielli's Dance of the Hours. The second act was Andersonville, about the notorious Confederate military prison where many Union soldiers were maltreated. The spectacle depicted the Union raid on the camp, with gunfire, explosions and cavalry troops on horseback swimming across the huge water tank simulating a lake.
As with marriage celebrants, public acceptance of funeral celebrants was enthusiastic and rapid. The early celebrants reported the commonly expressed need of non-church people to have a funeral that was personal in nature, with a minimum of platitudes, and also a personal eulogy that was well prepared, and substantial in its coverage of the life of the person who had died. There was a strong antipathy to mistakes which people had experienced in funeral services, such as factual errors: the deceased being called by the wrong name, or a mispronounced name, as was characteristic of many under-prepared and ritualistic funeral ceremonies provided by the churches.Marinos, Sarah, Prepare Yourself to say Goodbye, Family Circle, June 1997 pp40-41 The public also required that music, quotations and individual tributes be appropriate to the deceased person.
His family circle includes a number of musicians; his grandfather introduced him to music from country artists like Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson. Performing as a child, Timberlake sang country and gospel music: at the age of 11, he appeared on the television show Star Search, performing country songs as "Justin Randall". By that time, he began listening to rhythm and blues musicians from the 1960s and 70s, such as Al Green, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye, and he had listening sessions with his father of studio albums by the Eagles and Bob Seger. In 1993 and 1994, he was a Mouseketeer on The All-New Mickey Mouse Club, where his castmates included future girlfriend and singer Britney Spears, future tourmate Christina Aguilera, future bandmate JC Chasez, and future movie actors Ryan Gosling and Keri Russell.

As the expedition encountered the various American Indian tribes during the course of their journey, they observed and recorded information regarding their lifestyles, customs and the social codes they lived by, as directed by President Jefferson. By western standards, the Indian way of life seemed harsh and unforgiving as witnessed by members of the expedition. After many encounters and camping in close proximity to the Indian nations for extended periods of time during the winter months, they soon learned first hand of their customs and social orders. One of the primary customs that distinguished Indian cultures from those of the West was that it was customary for the men to take on two or more wives if they were able to provide for them and often took on a wife or wives who were members of the immediate family circle. e.g.

He met several high officials of the government of Tibet, studied Tantric Yoga and collected many books on Tibetan Buddhism. Bernard was an accomplished and energetic photographer, shooting "an astounding 326 rolls of film (11,736 exposures) as well as 20,000 feet of motion picture film" during his three months in Tibet in a "near obsessive documentation" of what he saw. In the view of Namiko Kunimoto, Bernard's photographs taken in the East served to authenticate the travel narrative and to construct Tibet "as a site of personal transformation." Back in America, Bernard's photographs of himself, whether in Tibetan dress or performing yoga poses such as Baddhapadmasana in the studio (a photo that also appears as plate XX in his Hatha Yoga), appeared frequently in The Family Circle magazine from 1938, "reveal[ing] his willingness to commodify spirituality and assumptions of exoticism".

In an October 25, 1940, interview conducted by former student Olive Byrne (under the pseudonym 'Olive Richard') and published in Family Circle, titled "Don't Laugh at the Comics", William Moulton Marston described what he saw as the great educational potential of comic books (a follow up article was published two years later in 1942.

She then lost in the quarterfinals to Anna Chakvetadze. She then moved onto the green clay of Amelia Island, where she suffered a shock second-round exit, after receiving a first round bye, to former top-20 player Karolina Šprem in straight sets. At the Family Circle Cup held in Charleston, South Carolina, she fell in the third round to Anabel Medina Garrigues. After losing in a grass tune-up event in Birmingham, Li pulled out of every tournament she was to play in the summer, including Wimbledon and the US Open, citing a rib injury. Li Na at the 2008 Wimbledon Championships Li had not played a professional match in half a year and had resultantly slipped to No. 29 in the WTA rankings when she returned from her rib injury in January 2008 to compete at the 2008 Mondial Australian Women's Hardcourts in Gold Coast.

Indeed, he pointed out, the English word strange and the French word étrange both mean 'odd' or 'peculiar', while the related words stranger and étranger mean 'foreigner', and the neutral language used at World Congresses of Esperanto, which implies equality among linguistic communities, can respect other cultures yet strictly avoid imposing any particular mode of thought on them, even if they happen to be non-influential minorities. The following year, Zaleski-Zamenhof sent a written greeting to the 87th World Congress meeting in Fortaleza, Brazil. Declaring that mankind is a species created for diversity, he congratulated the Brazilian hosts for the variegatedness of the nation's natural setting and the diversity of its peoples, customs and cultures and favourably compared Brazilians to the "great family circle" of worldwide Esperantism, urging people to not to see cultural differences as a threat but as their good fortune.
The week after, playing at Family Circle Cup, Vesnina again came out the loser in a three-setter, this time against experienced fellow-Russian Vera Zvonareva, who took the match. In May, retreating to a lower-level Tier-IV event at Estoril, Portugal, she encountered Flavia Pennetta, the first seed in the draw, in the first round; and this time the Italian wrought her revenge in the third set tie-break of a very evenly tied match that ran. At the Berlin Open, she lost to Czech Květa Peschke in the first round. At the Internationaux de Strasbourg, Vesnina encountered fierce resistance in the first round from upcoming Italian world No. 249, Karin Knapp, but finally defeated her to book her place in the second round, where she made light work of world No. 27, Marion Bartoli, for the second time in her career, this time dismissing her.
In contrast to his two eldest sisters, Princess Adile Zogu and Nafije Zogu, who was seldom seen in public, the king gave his four younger sisters official roles to play in the royal representation. During the first years of his reign, the princesses lived a traditional isolated life in the royal palace complex and seldom appeared outside of the family circle, but this changed by the time of the wedding of Princess Senije in 1936. Her wedding was a public affair, and from that year onward, the king regularly arranged formal royal balls, and had his four younger sisters appear in public on official royal representational assignments: Senije was assigned tasks within health care, Ruhije Zogu education, Myzejen Zogu culture, and Maxhide Zogu attended to tasks within sports. To prepare them for this task, they were given lessons in piano playing, dance, language and riding, and were sent for several trips to Western Europe, where they became known for their expensive shopping trips.
Agatha Christie, An English Mystery. (p. 315) Headline, 2007 Professor Rushbrook Williams in The Times Literary Supplement of 28 December 1946 was less impressed: “The enthusiasts of detective fiction who regard the publication of a new “Agatha Christie” as a landmark will experience something of a shock when they turn over these pages. Here is no ingenious plot, no artfully contrived love-interest, no unmasking after satisfying suspense, of the horrid criminal. While those who know something of archaeological work in the Near East, and recognise in Mrs Mallowan’s minor misfortunes and victimisations an echo of their own experiences, will sometimes chuckle as they read, the ordinary person will find the whole thing too long drawn out. The book, indeed, is reminiscent of the ‘letters from dear Uncle William’ types of literature – excellent for reading aloud by those, and to those, who know Uncle William, but a shade tedious to persons outside the family circle.”The Times Literary Supplement, 28 December 1946 (p.
A seven-layer bean dip A seven-layer dip is an American appetizer based on ingredients typical of Tex-Mex cuisine. The first widely published recipe (1981, Family Circle magazine) actually called it "Tex-Mex Dip" without reference to any layers. The dish was popular in Texas for some time before the recipe first appeared in print. The dish typically includes: # Refried beans (originally commercial jalapeño bean dip) # Guacamole (originally mashed seasoned avocados) # Sour cream (originally a mixture of sour cream & mayonnaise seasoned with commercial taco seasoning mix) # Pico de gallo, salsa roja, salsa verde or chopped tomatoes (originally simply chopped green onions, tomatoes and onions) # Grated cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, queso asadero, queso Chihuahua or a blend (some early recipes substituted processed commercial jalapeño cheese dip - or homemade chile con queso) # Black olives # Optional ingredients and variations include many items such as chopped onion, cooked ground beef, shredded lettuce (for texture), or sliced jalapeño chiles for additional spiciness.
Henri Adamczewski has always rejected the theory according to which children acquire their native language thanks to an unconscious process based on repetition and imitation. He has also consistently opposed the theory of Universal Grammar (UG) put forward by Noam Chomsky; according to that theory, UG is an innate property of the mind, therefore inherited by all children, and in that perspective grammar is an organ that grows in the mind. Adamczewski claims that the utterances produced by the people around a child (in the family circle, etc.) contain enough evidence for him/her to decipher the grammatical code of their native language. It is the grammatical items found in the utterances which, as traces/markers of linguistic operations, serve as landmarks guiding the child and helping him/her acquire the grammar of their language. « Children find in the linguistic data around them the keys necessary for building up their grammatical system » (Adamczewski, 1995: 76–transl. ours).
Following the arrival of electrical engineer Wyndham D'arcy Madden from Stothert & Pitt in 1919, Hick Hargreaves was re-organised to include a sales department responsible for advertising, supervised by Madden who in succession was appointed Managing Director in 1922, serving until 1963. From outside the Hargreaves family circle, Madden ensured the business was run economically during the difficult times ahead and the readiness to adapt was crucial to success during the interwar period; he realised that marketing the firm's specialities was as important to the design and manufacture of its products. As the steam turbine replaced reciprocating steam engines, the company required a skilled engineer to produce a design of its own; in 1923 former principle assistant to the Chief Turbine Designer of English Electric, George Arrowsmith was appointed as Hick Hargreaves' Chief Turbine Designer; development continued and by 1927 the firm's engine work was principally steam turbines for electricity generating stations, becoming a major supplier to the CEB.
Bernard was also featured in popular magazines, including five cover stories in Family Circle in 1938 and 1939, followed shortly by his second book, Heaven Lies Within Us, which explored Hatha Yoga under the guise of an autobiography. According to Paul Hackett's 2008 Barbarian Lands, many of the experiences Bernard describes in these books were exaggerated or fabricated, based on the experiences of his father. However, he had indeed learnt fluent Tibetan, travelled in Tibet, met senior lamas and government officials, and returned with an unmatched collection of photographs, film, field notes, and manuscripts, from essentially the only moment when Tibet had allowed foreigners in, and from its final years as an independent country with a vibrant spiritual culture. His Tibetan collection included 22 bronze statues of Buddhist gods, 40 thangka paintings, 23 rugs, 25 mandalas, over 100 cloth wood-block prints, 79 books, and many textiles, robes, hats, ritual implements, and household objects.
A few weeks later, Kerber progressed to the quarterfinals of the London Olympics, falling to Azarenka before upsetting Serena Williams en route to her first WTA Premier 5 final at the Western & Southern Open. Between 2013 and 2014, she made a second consecutive semifinal appearance at the BNP Paribas Open, reached another two WTA Premier 5 finals in Tokyo and Doha and advanced to her second quarterfinal at Wimbledon after defeating Sharapova in a tight three set match in the fourth round. 2015 saw Kerber reverse her previous season's 0–4 record in singles finals by winning four titles including her maiden titles on clay and grass at the Family Circle Cup and Aegon Classic. Kerber began 2016 with a finals appearance at the Brisbane International before claiming her first win over Azarenka en route to her first major final at the Australian Open, where she overcame Serena Williams in three sets to win her maiden Grand Slam title.
It formed a group for young people known as the Young BNP, although in 2010 renamed this group as the BNP Crusaders, "to pay homage to our ancestors from the Middle Ages who saved Christian Europe from the onslaught of Islam". It established a Land and People group to recruit support in rural areas, a Family Circle to recruit women and families, and both a Veterans Group and an Association of British ex-Servicemen for former military servicemen. A group called Families Against Immigrant Racism was established to counter perceived racism against white Britons, while an Ethnic Liaison Committee was created to build links with anti-Muslim Hindu and Sikh groups active in Britain. Another group was the American Friends of the British National Party (AFBNP), set up by Mark Cotterill in 1999 to gain support from sympathisers in the United States. In 2001 it had 100 members, and by 2008 had 107.
All That Heaven Allows was referred to as a "woman's picture" in the film trade press and specifically was marketed towards women. The film press compared it favorably to Magnificent Obsession (1954), Sirk's previous movie that starred Wyman and Hudson. A review in Motion Picture Daily was generally positive and praised Sirk for his stunning use of color and mise en scène: "In a print by Technicolor, the exterior shots and the interior settings are so beautifully photographed that they point up the action of the story with telling effect." Motion Picture Daily also reported that the film earned $16,000 its opening day and did “above average” business in areas like Atlanta, Miami, New Orleans and Jacksonville. All That Heaven Allows was released in Great Britain on August 25, 1955, several months before its U.S. premiere. The film opened in Los Angeles on Christmas Day, 1955, and in New York City on February 28, 1956, following an extensive advertising campaign focusing on popular women's magazines, includingMcCall’s, Family Circle, Woman’s Day and Redbook.

During the later 1920s Ruth von Kleist-Retzow became deeply concerned by the looming menace of National Socialism, entering into an intensive exchange of ideas with the aristocrat-lawyer Ewald von Kleist- Schmenzin whose own warning was published as "Der Nationalsozialismus – eine Gefahr" in 1932. In 1935 she moved back from the countryside to Stettin where she rented and apartment which she converted into a "grandchildren's hostel" ("Enkelpension"), in order to facilitate and keep an eye on the school arrangements for her grandchildren: the return to the city also made it far easier to build up her contacts beyond her own immediate family circle. In Stettin she very soon came across the large group of enthusiasts around the progressive theologian Dietrich Bonhoeffer who was in charge at the Evangelical Priest Training Establishment ("Predigerseminar") of the recently formed anti-Nazi "Confessing Church" ("Bekennende Kirche") at Finkenwalde, just outside the city on its south side. Von Kleist-Retzow became the intermediary between the two superficially contrasting worlds of the intellectual theologians around Bonhoeffer and the scions of the old Prussian army families, trying to perpetuate traditions of decency and honour on their landed estates in a fast changing worlds.
Her next event was the Family Circle Cup in Charleston. In the first round, Zheng defeated qualifier Monica Puig 3–6, 7–6, 7–5 in a match lasting over three hours. In the next round, she faced seeded Yanina Wickmayer for the first time, losing 4–6, 0–6. Zheng then competed at the Estoril Open as the seventh seed. Her first-round opponent was Italian Romina Oprandi, who won the match 6–4, 6–2. Zheng then played in a qualification tournament for the first time since 2008 at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia, as the second seed. She lost in the second round of qualifying to Anastasia Rodionova 6–3, 2–6, 5–7. However, Zheng reached the main draw as a lucky loser, but lost to the wildcard Alberta Brianti 4–6, 5–7. Next playing in Brussels, Zheng lost to Ayumi Morita in the first round in three sets; after losing her points from reaching the finals of Warsaw from the previous year, Zheng dropped from world No. 47 to No. 80, her lowest ranking since 2008. At French Open, she defeated Sandra Záhlavová in the first round 6–4, 6–3.
The magazine’s recent history has been troubled with a succession of editorial makeovers, relaunches and sudden departures.
