The school is named after Michael Davitt, an Irish republican and agrarian campaigner who founded the Irish National Land League. He was also a labour leader, Home Rule politician and Member of Parliament (MP). He campaigned for Home Rule and was a close ally of Charles Stuart Parnell, the leader of the Irish Parliamentary Party, until the party split over Parnell's divorce and Davitt joined the anti-Parnellite Irish National Federation. In July 2016 Atheist Ireland published a report on the setting up of the State exam course on religion, developed by the National Council for the Curriculum and Assessment (NCCA). This was done under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI). This showed that the course was not suitable for all religions and none, as suggested by the NCCA and had a very strong bias towards Christianity. In September 2017 Atheist Ireland used the Freedom of Information Act to investigate the level of "religious indoctrination" in Education and Training Board (ETB) Schools, the alternative to Catholic schools provided by state bodies.

In 2001 the secondary school was moved to its current location in Summerhill and its further education section, originally just two courses (business studies and computer studies for adults and secretarial), took up sole occupancy on the "Annabella" campus at West End street where it remains today. In 2016 Mallow College of Further Education was given its own independent status as a College separate from Davis College. Part of the Cork ETB (Education and Training Board), Mallow College courses are primarily QQI assessed and certified with additional courses certified from IATI and CPA in accounting, ITEC and CIBTAC in beauty therapies, as well as a SOLAS run carpentry apprenticeship course.

ETI trolley buses, in 2016 One notable feature of the GDRTA system is its use of electric trolley buses. Only five cities in the United States currently have electric trolley buses: Boston, Dayton, Philadelphia, San Francisco and Seattle. The first electric trolley bus (ETB) operation in Ohio occurred in Dayton, on April 23, 1933, when the Linden–Salem line was converted from streetcars to trackless trolleys -- or trolley buses, as they are most commonly known today. The RTA renewed its commitment to electric transit with a Board of Trustees vote to continue the trolley bus service in 1991, and the purchase of a new fleet of ETBs from Electric Transit, Inc.

An Education and Training Board (ETB) () is a statutory local education body in the Republic of Ireland that administers some secondary education, most adult education and a very small amount of primary education in the state. They came into existence on 1 July 2013, when they replaced the existing system of Vocational Education Committees (VECs) that had been in place since 1930. In addition to taking over the responsibilities of VECs, ETBs took on the training functions of Foras Áiseanna Saothair (FÁS), the national training and employment authority, when it was dissolved in 2013. Education and Training Boards Ireland (ETBI) is the national representative association for the sixteen Education and Training Boards.

As originally built Thame station only had a single platform with an engine shed on the south side on the location where later cattle pens were built, sometime between 1864 and 1893 the engine shed was demolished and a second platform built, the trainshed roof was extended on one side to provide a cover over the new platform. As built Thame and the first station at High Wycombe were the same in design and dimensions only construction material differed: the train-shed walls at Thame were timber, while Wycombe's were flint and brick. The station was provided with a 28 lever signal box, with ETB using Tyer's key token machines in operation.

Since the 1990s Ethiopia has experienced more increase of schools and colleges despite still not covering all regions. Millions of Ethiopian birr (ETB) continue to be spent on building educational institutions and many new schools have been constructed since Meles Zenawi took office. However, the government's focus on the agricultural sector has slowed the growth of jobs in the urban areas of Ethiopia, which is reflected in the anger of the urban population and its students as well as the landslide victory of opposition parties in these areas during the recent national election. Statistics showed that in 1991 only 27 percent of Ethiopian children attended school, but in 2004 gross enrollment rate was up to 77 percent and it reached 85 percent in November 2006.

After the liberation of Ethiopia, Emperor Haile Selassie I asked the United States, the United Kingdom, and France to help him to establish an airline as part of his modernization effort. According to the BBC News it is possible that the Emperor intended the creation of a quality national airline to help dispel impressions of Ethiopian poverty. In 1945, the Ethiopian government began negotiations with both Transcontinental Air Transport and Western Air Express (later merged into TWA). On 8 September 1945, TWA signed an agreement with the American historian and foreign affairs advisor to Ethiopia John H. Spencer to establish a commercial aviation company in Ethiopia. The carrier, originally called Ethiopian Air Lines (EAL), was founded on 21 December 1945, with an initial investment of ETB 2,5 million, divided in 25,000 shares that were entirely held by the government.

Between 2008 and 2009, Verónica Moral joins some series: Plan América (TVE), Física o Química (Antena 3), Los misterios de Laura (TVE), Qué vida más triste (LaSexta) and Euskolegas in ETB 2 TV. Verónica Moral is also known for her work in Amar en tiempos revueltos'¡ from La 1 (TVE) since 2009 until 2010. Lately, Verónica has been working in films like L'assiette de mon voisin by David Merlin-Dufey and Olivier Riche, Zipi y Zape y el club de la canica by Oskar Santos, La novia by Paula Ortiz and Lejos del mar by Imanol Uribe, but also in series like Los quién (Antena 3), Frágiles (Telecinco), Ciega a citas (Cuatro) and Gym Tony (Cuatro). Verónica also appears in Vis a vis acting as a policewoman, portraying Carmen de Icaza in the serie Lo que escondían sus ojos and also performing in Mar de plástico.
