The plan originally called for Rise Against to perform the song in a field containing busts of all 43 United States presidents located on a privately owned farm in Croaker, Virginia, formerly the site of the deteriorating Presidents Park. The permit granting Rise Against the right to film on the property was rescinded by the farm's board of directors during filming as the "message" it sent was deemed too "anti-American". As soon as he had finished, the pyre lit spontaneously, although in some versions, Mahākāśyapa lit the pyre himself in the traditional Indian role of the eldest son. On one hand, Fomalhaut b could be a planet less than twice Jupiter's mass that is either enshrouded in a spherical cloud of dust from ongoing planetesimal collisions or surrounded by a large circumplanetary ring system, either of which are responsible for scattering the primary star's light and thus making Fomalhaut b visible. Alternatively, it could be a conglomeration of rubble from a recent collision between comet-to-asteroid-sized bodies, and not actually a planet.. Fomalhaut b and three companions around HR 8799, whose discovery was announced simultaneously, were described as the first directly imaged extrasolar planets (among earlier claims such as e.g. 2M1207 b, GQ Lup b, DH Tau b, AB Pic b, CHXR 73 b, UScoCTIO 108 b, CT Cha b, 1RXS 1609 b) in that their emission was thought to originate at least in part from a planetary atmosphere.

Despite being one of the most luminous stars known, 500,000 times brighter than the Sun, IRC+10420 cannot be seen with the naked eye and needs a telescope to be observed. IRC+10420's spectrum has changed from late F to early A in recent decades without experiencing changes in its luminosity. This suggests IRC+10420 is a former red supergiant that is evolving blueward on the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram to become a luminous blue variable, or Wolf–Rayet star. Models suggest it started its life as a 40-50 solar masses star that lost most of its mass due to strong stellar winds leaving it with just 10 solar masses and that the star - which actually has a high surface temperature - is totally enshrouded in the matter it has expelled appearing as a fake photosphere, so IRC+10420 appears with a later spectral type as humans see just the expelled dust and gas it has blown out during its life and not the star itself.

Elbaz has made widely appreciated contributions to a number of areas in observational extragalactic astrophysics using mostly space infrared and submillimeter observations, as is evident by his Google Scholar record and the fact that he has been repeatedly recognized as ISI Highly Cited researcher by Clarivate Analytics. In 2001, relying on new data from the Infrared Space Observatory together with Ranga Chary produced a suite of galaxy spectral energy distribution templates which along with the current knowledge of the galaxy redshift distribution were able to interpret the cosmic infrared background as being produced to at least 70% level from dust enshrouded star formation in luminous infrared galaxies, (which has received ~1300 citations). The advent of the Spitzer Space Telescope in 2003 enabled extremely deep observations in mid-infrared. Elbaz and his collaborations analysing observations from the Great Observatories Origins Deep Survey, demonstrated that the star formation rate of individual galaxies increases due to environmental effects up to a critical galaxy density at redshift one, above which it decreases again, suggesting that galaxy evolution is not independent from structure formation at larger scales in the universe (which has received ~1400 citations).
