The contractors were Alaska Environmental Contracting. They used 8, 13 and 18 tonne hydraulic excavators, 10 tonne rubber tracked dumper trucks and an innovative light railway. To bring in 10,000 tonnes of hoggin would have required 1,000 round trips for a Morooka MST-2200vd tracked dumper truck. The contractors Alaska designed and built an experimental light railway from a forest track to the cutting.

"Rock My World" is the name of a 1988 hit single by British pop group Five Star. It became their last ever UK Top 40 hit, peaking at #28. The video saw the band leather clad, with long hair extensions, dancing in the bottom of a quarry, with dumper trucks driving around them. The B-side, "Sweetest Innocence", received a BPI award for best instrumental.

The 250-hp engine type was C6SFL. Later the same engines were used in some dumper trucks and in 1961 in K-50SS, the up-to-date largest automobile built in the Nordic countries. In 1966 SAT produced vehicles with 300-hp Rolls-Royce diesels; the Sisu K-142SS was one of the most powerful trucks in Finland and advertised as "the king of the highways". The Rolls-Royce Eagle engines became to the selection in 1967.

Ready-mixed concrete can be transported and placed at site using a number of methods. The most common, and simplest, is the chute fitted to the back of transit mixer trucks (as in picture), which is suitable for placing concrete near locations where a truck can just reverse in. Dumper trucks, crane hoppers, truck-mounted conveyors, and, in extremis, wheelbarrows, can be used to place concrete from trucks where access is not direct. Some concrete mixes are suitable for pumping with a concrete pump.

Sisu R-142BPT, a former fire engine with Bronto Skylift aerial platform. Sisu R-series is a 2–3-axle lorry model series made by the Finnish heavy vehicle producer Suomen Autoteollisuus (SAT) in 1970–1982. The series consists of 4×2-driven R-141 and R-148, 6×2-driven R-142, 6×4-driven R-143 and R-149, 4×4-driven R-144, 4×4+2-driven R-145 and 6×6-driven R-146. Typical applications are logging trucks, dumper trucks and long-distance transportation haulers which pull conventional and semi-trailers.

Some 100 volunteers were expected and pumping began on Friday evening. The Severn River Board removed over 700 fish on Saturday morning and numbers attending exceeded expectations. Despite warnings by British Waterways not to touch it, the Lledan Brook flood paddle was opened to assist in the drainage of the canal and over 200 people set to work using hand tools and borrowed equipment including a mobile crane, ten dumper trucks, four 7-ton tipper trucks, three JCB diggers and a Hy-Mac long arm excavator. The agricultural engine and steamroller manufacturer Aveling and Porter of Rochester, Kent, merged with Barford & Perkins of Peterborough to become Aveling-Barford Ltd in 1934, largely due to financial help from Ruston & Hornsby, when both companies had entered into administration. The new company took a former site of Hornsbys, naming it the 'Invicta' works, from the motto on the coat of arms of Kent, and translates as 'unconquered'; all Aveling & Porter machinery was brought from Kent by rail. During the 1970s it was the town's largest employer with around 2,000 employees. It initially prospered, but with the sinking market for large dumper trucks and road rollers, it declined.

Russian president Vladimir Putin was described variously as a "bully," "imperialist," and a "brilliant" and skilled leader. As of December 2014, BBC News and Reuters take no position on whether Russia is a party to the armed conflict, saying simply that Russia is "accused" by "Ukraine and its Western allies." A few days after the OSCE's Observer Mission wrote that it "continued to observe high numbers of dumper trucks transporting coal from the Luhansk region to the Russian Federation," Reuters reported on Russia's offer to sell coal to Ukraine, saying "months of fighting a pro- Russian uprising has disrupted coal supplies" but not mentioning the OSCE's observations. In 2015, the BBC and The Guardian continued to portray Odessa and Kharkiv as deeply divided, despite polls showing that supporters of separatism or joining Russia were a small minority.
