Over the next decade the railway re-assembled Irish Mail and the locomotive was steamed for the first time in 1980. The running line slowly grew in length until it ran from Becconsall to a station known as Asland, which is no longer the far terminus of the line. The line in its present form runs from Becconsall to Delph, with the original track to Asland running on from Delph but not suitable for running engines. In 2015, the WLLR hosted a gala to celebrate the 100th.
The station was opened on 1 September 1851 as the terminus of the London and North Western Railway branch from . The station closed on 2 May 1955, when the Delph Donkey passenger train service from Oldham to Delph via Greenfield was withdrawn. The station building (complete with platform) still survives as a private residence, now much hemmed in by later development. For a period after closure, the station yard became home to a small, privately owned collection of railway rolling stock, including two steam locomotives.
For the 2012 election, Delph was not standing in an election but he was mentioned as a Tea Party alternative to long-time Republican Indiana Senator Richard Lugar. At the time, he was fundraising and was the only US politician who accepted a donation from BP's political action committee in the period after its Deepwater Horizon spill and spoke out in favor of the company in defense of its critics. The Eccleshill Village Fair is held annually in The Delph, a grassed over former Stoney Lane Quarry north of Stony Lane. The spelling of Stoney/Stony Lane is contentious even today although older maps favour the Stoney spelling.

In January 2011, Indiana state senator Mike Delph introduced legislation requiring presidential candidates to file a certified copy of a birth certificate along with additional documentation to be on the Indiana ballot. The legislation was not voted out of committee.

Based upon the State Senate President Pro Tem Robert Garton's power to schedule votes, he lost the support of Right to Life groups and those groups threw their support behind his Republican primary challenger Greg Walker. This resulted in Garton's defeat in the May Indiana primary. Delph supported Senator Brent Steele, a Republican from Bedford and a strong opponent of abortion, during his bid to replace Garton for Senate leader in 2006, but Senator David Long won. Later, Delph was critical of a judge's decision in June 2012 on the state's law concerning the federal funding of abortion services.
In 2011, the Indiana legislature passed the Marriage Amendment to make Indiana's current statute on the definition of marriage as between a man and woman part of the Indiana Constitution. Isydore Hlynka (February 17, 1909 - May 18, 1983) was a Canadian biochemist, and Ukrainian Canadian community leader. He was born in the village of Denysiw, near Ternopil, Ukraine. He came to Canada at age one in 1910 with his parents, who homesteaded near Delph, Alberta, north of Vegreville.
Delph was the only station on the line beyond Moorgate with permanent structures; the station building still survives as a private residence (as does Grotton & Springhead station). Services ran to and from Oldham via Greenfield with connections to several other destinations, and summer specials ran usually to coastal resorts.
The amendment did not pass during session because of a controversial second sentence that would have also banned on civil unions. During the process, the second sentence was removed by each chamber. Delph was critical of traditional supporters of the amendment, especially Senate leader David Long and House Speaker Brian Bosma, who did not exert their political influence during the most favorable political climate for its passage. Delph criticized Long for moving the hearing for the amendment from the Judiciary Committee, led by social conservative Senator Brent Steele, to the Rules and Legislative Procedures Committee, headed by Long, and the change to the second sentence was made in the less favorable committee.
Worsley Delph, the entrance to the Duke of Bridgewater's underground mines Small scale coal mining had been carried on since the Middle Ages where coal seams outcropped in Worsley and the surrounding area. John Edgerton, the first Duke of Bridgewater, bought the Worsley estate in 1630. After inheriting the estate in 1748 the third Duke was keen to exploit the resources under his largely agricultural estate but the coal mines he inherited were small and particularly wet as water percolated through porous sandstone above the coal. The problem was solved by driving an underground level intersecting the coal seams northwards towards Walkden from the Bridgewater Canal into the rock face of an old quarry at the Delph.

Built in 1907 by architecture firm Matear and Simon as a warehouse for the Liverpool Cotton Exchange Building located next door, the building was designed to follow a similar architectural style. In 2016 the building was purchased for £9.6 million by property firm Delph and was converted into 71 residential apartments.

The London and North Western Railway opened a branch from to Oldham on 5 July 1856. Grotton was one of two intermediate stations which opened on the same day. Any unification-based grammar can be implemented, but LKB is typically used for grammars with typed feature structures such as HPSG. It is implemented in Common Lisp, and constitutes one core component of the DELPH-IN collaboration.
The GNR were the owners of the Witham Navigation, and the money was for maintenance of the banks of the river. The Greetwell Level covered an area of around , but the amount of water that had to be managed was disproportionate, as water from the higher ground to the north found its way into the drains, and the banks of the Witham were porous, resulting in significant seepage out of the river and into the drains. Responsibility for the North Delph, a catchwater drain running parallel to the river for from Lincoln to Horsley Deeps, passed from the GNR to the Commissioners. Before the Act, the land had been drained by a wind pump, but the Commissioners built a steam pumping station where the South Delph and the old course of the River Witham met.
The station opened on 1 January 1912, on the London and North Western Railway route from Oldham to Greenfield. It was located not far from the portal of Lydgate Tunnel. John Richard Latchford (16 June 1909 - 30 April 1980) was an English cricketer. Latchford was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm medium pace. He was born in Delph, Saddleworth, Yorkshire. Having played for the Lancashire Seconds in the Minor Counties Championship since 1927, Latchford eventually made his first-class debut for the county against the Minor Counties in 1930.
North of Leedsgate Bridge, the parish follows Fleet Drain, to the left of Rookery Farm, and it crosses the B1165 and the Little South Holland Drain at Raven's Gate Bridge. The boundary follows Fleet Drain north-eastwards alongside Raven's Drove. The two sides of the boundary are respectively known as Fleet Fen and Gedney Fen. Fleet Drain also follows Delph Bank.

The burgeoning village became a hub of commercial activity. The Duke employed craftsmen to service a wide range of industries including boat-making, plastering, blacksmithing and mining. A local quarry supplied limestone, for which a kiln was constructed at the junction of Barton Road (B5211) and Stableford Road. A quarry at the Delph supplied building materials for the region, including the stone used to construct Brindley's aqueduct.
In 1914 the business was described in Grace's Guide as cotton spinners specializing in the spinning of fine, super-combed sea island yarns, suitable for lace, muslin, harness twine, sewing thread, etc. Employees 1,200. William Heaton and Sons was formed to operate the two mills and the company's other mill at Delph Hill, Halliwell. By 1950 the company had evolved into Crosses and Heatons Ltd.

It meets Martin, and the boundary passes eastwards, just south of the Metheringham Airfield Visitor Centre. It crosses the north-south B1189 then, between the village and Martin it follows part of Car Dyke around the south of Martin Wood, and follows Timberland Delph to the north-east. Timberland Drove follows this waterway to the south. At the River Witham, it meets East Lindsey and Woodhall Spa.
Worsley Delph, the entrance to the Duke of Bridgewater's underground mines The Act of Parliament allowing the building of the Bridgewater Canal was passed in 1759. The construction of the canal had already started when James Brindley became involved. Brindley took charge of the canal's construction. Several changes were made to the canal's course under Brindley's control and the canal was completed in 1764.
In October 1979, Johnstone was lured to Britain on the pretext of a drug deal to take place in Scotland. He was murdered by Andy Maher, by order of Terrance John Clark, and his handless body was dumped in Eccleston Delph, Lancashire. Branston Booths is a small village in the North Kesteven district of Lincolnshire, England. The village is situated approximately east from the city and county town of Lincoln, and stands at the intersection of the Car Dyke and Branston Delph drain. Branston Booths is part of Branston and Mere civil parish. A church mission hall with seating for over 500 was built at Branston Booths in 1931.
The completion in 1761 of the Bridgewater Canal allowed Worsley to expand from a small village of cottage industries to an important town based upon cotton manufacture, iron-working, brick-making and extensive coal mining. Later expansion came after the First and Second World Wars, when large urban estates were built. Worsley Delph is a scheduled monument and a significant part of the town's historic centre is now a conservation area.
A US District Court judge ruled in favor of Planned Parenthood. The organization argued that state legislation to block its access to Medicaid funding for all of its services based upon its support of abortions created a conflict between state and federal powers. Delph said the courts were interfering with state executive and legislative powers. The judge's decision was upheld in October by 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
St. Michael's Church, Brierley Hill The first religious building in Brierley Hill was St. Michael's Chapel, which was constructed in 1765 by public subscription. It became a parish church in 1842, covering the areas of Brockmoor, Delph, and Quarry Bank. In 1872, construction commenced on St. Mary's Catholic Church. Designed by E. W. Pugin, it was completed in 1873 and upon completion, consisted of a nave, sanctuary, aisle and side chapel.
The settlement grew up around the confluence of Luddenden Brook and the River Calder and the existence of the woollen textile industry. The industrial growth facilitated by the opening of the Rochdale Canal in 1804 and the opening of the Manchester and Leeds Railway in 1840. There were several mills including Boy Mill, Luddendenfoot Mill, Delph Mill and Denholme Mill. None of these mills remain in their original use.
This part of the parish is called Timberland Dales, and to the south is Thorpe Tilney Dales, and the boundary meets Tattershall Thorpe. At Engine Drain, the boundary heads westward from the River Witham, where it meets Dogdyke. At the junction of Dales Head Dike, it meets Walcott, and follows Walcott Delph and Walcott Bank westwards over Thorpe Tilney Fen. Towards Walcott it briefly follows Car Dyke northwards.

The larger towns of Swinton and Eccles lie to the east and southeast respectively, and to the west the area is largely bordered by Chat Moss, open fields, and forest. The M60 and M62 motorways cut directly through the area. The underlying measures of coal have proved important for the development of the area; it was around Worsley Delph that the settlement first began to grow. Parts of the area are within an indicated floodplain.
The park area contains large reserves of Millstone Grit and was previously a quarry called Park Delph. An ideal building material, the millstone grit was used for building the majority of the cotton mills and churches in Blackburn. One of the park's two lakes was created in 1772 as the town's water supply, Pemberton Clough. A system of wooden piping carried the water to the town until the installation of the mains water in 1847.
Delph then negotiated the compromise between the House and Senate. After Governor Mitch Daniels signed it into law, a US District Court judge blocked two sections of the law. Other states, such as Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Utah also passed similar legislation, and like Arizona's those laws were challenged in court. Attorney General Greg Zoeller gave up on three warrantless arrest provisions of the law after the Supreme Court decided the Arizona v.
The Dudley No.1 Canal passes through The Waterfront and along the edge of the shopping centre before descending to Delph Locks. The centre's original developers and owners were Richardson Developments but it has had a number of other owners including Chelsfield, Mountleigh and Westfield. It is currently owned by Intu Properties. The centre is due to transfer to new operator Ellandi following Intu's entry into administration, and will be renamed in 2021.
Longworth was on the south west slope of Turton Moor and the lower land to the south east between the Longworth and Delph Brooks. The area of the township was . There was a hall but there was no village or hamlet within the township boundary and the land was chiefly pasture. A road from Egerton passed near the south west border and the ancient road from Blackburn to Bolton through Tockholes crossed the township.

In the 1945 general election, Rhodes stood without success as the Labour candidate in Royton, Lancashire. A few months later he was elected as Member of Parliament for Ashton-under-Lyne in a by-election on 1 October created by William Jowitt's elevation to the peerage.
On 17 October 2015, Bony scored his first two goals of the season as Manchester City defeated AFC Bournemouth 5–1 at the City of Manchester Stadium. He followed this up with his first Champions League goal in a 3–1 away victory against Sevilla on 3 November 2015. On 8 December, Bony appeared as a 65th- minute substitute for Fabian Delph in City's final fixture of the Champions League group stage, against Borussia Mönchengladbach.
The town expanded rapidly in the 18th and 19th centuries around the coal mining industry. The collieries were part of an extensive mine complex, the Worsley Navigable Levels whose underground canals stretched from the Delph at Worsley and linked the mines to the Bridgewater Canal. Other industry included iron foundries and cotton mills. The owner of Farnworth Paper mills, T. B. Crompton, patented a continuous-drying process which contributed to the mechanisation of papermaking in 1821.
The earliest evidence of human activity in the area is the remains of a Roman road which served as the route between Roman camps at Coccium (Wigan) and Mamucium (Manchester). The road ran to the north of Astley, past Keeper Delph and through Tyldesley. Evidence for the presence of Anglo-Saxons in the sparsely populated, heavily wooded and isolated region is provided by place names incorporating the Old English suffix leah, such as in Leigh, Tyldesley, Shakerley and Astley.
Ivey Delph Apartments is a historic apartment building located in Hamilton Heights, New York, New York. It was designed by noted African American architect Vertner Woodson Tandy (1885 – 1949) in 1948 and completed in 1951. It is a six-story, beige brick and concrete building in the Moderne style. It is a three bay wide building and the center bay features projecting balconies with curved ends and topped by curved iron railings with two horizontal bars.
Designed by the architect George Gilbert Scott, the church was consecrated on 2 July 1846 by the Bishop of Chester, John Bird Sumner. The church tower is now home to the mechanism for the Bridgewater Clock from the Bridgewater workshops at Worsley Green. The clock strikes 13 times at 1 pm, originally so that workmen did not miss the end of their dinner break. Many gravestones in the churchyard were cut from rock sourced at Worsley Delph.
Bloodsports soundtrack score was composed by Paul Hertzog, who also composed another Jean-Claude Van Damme film, Kickboxer. The soundtrack contains the songs "Fight to Survive" and "On My Own", both performed by Stan Bush. Bush's songs are replaced on the soundtrack with alternate versions sung by Paul Delph, who was nominated for a Grammy for this work. The film plays the song "Steal the Night" by Michael Bishop during a scene where Dux runs from Helmer and Rawlins.

He directed the offices to reclassify members of certain families as black, causing the loss for numerous families of documentation in records that showed their continued identification as Native American.
One is the daily 407 service between Denshaw and Oldham via Pennine Meadows and Moorside run by Stotts and operating hourly during the daytime. The other is the 354, running from Denshaw to Ashton-under-Lyne via Delph, Uppermill, Mossley and Stalybridge. It is operated by First Greater Manchester and runs every two hours Monday–Saturday daytime. There are no evening journeys on either service, they are replaced by a Local Link demand responsive transport service instead.
Construction was finished in June 1779, but the locks saw little use until the opening of the Stourbridge Canal, which took place in December. Dadford's son, also called Thomas, was engineer for the Stourbridge Canal. In 1787, discussions took place about amalgamating the two companies, but they remained separate, although they always worked closely together. The bottom lock at Black Delph Bridge is at the termination of the Dudley Canal and forms the boundary with the Stourbridge Canal.
Michael Christian Oakes (born 30 October 1973 in Northwich) is an English former professional footballer who played as a goalkeeper from 1991 until 2008. As a player Oakes notably played in the Premier League for Aston Villa and in the Football League for Scarborough, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Cardiff City. Oakes is currently a league cricketer, appearing as a wicket- keeper and batsman for various Oldham clubs in the Saddleworth League, including Delph & Dobcross, Moorside and also East Lancashire Paper Mill in Radcliffe, Bury.

From the site there are clear views up and down the valley, although it is overshadowed by higher ground on all sides. It is remote and exposed and lies along the Deva Victrix (Chester) to Eboracum (York) Roman road.
In 1931 Boothstown Mines Rescue Station was built along with housing for the rescue team members and other staff, it is a Grade II Listed building. A Mr Smith built a small cotton mill in Boothstown Delph by the Stirrup Brook in 1812. In 1891 Edward Makin of Garden Mill had 260 looms weaving "regattas, stripes, ginghams etc." and William Yates' Boothstown Mill had 9,000 spindles and 242 looms producing fine quality cotton from 1875 until the mill closed in 1968.
The Louisville Home Guard was a pro-Union military unit organized early in the American Civil War in Louisville, Kentucky. The auxiliary militia served to help secure supplies of arms and weapons, as well as to patrol the streets and discourage Confederate sympathizers. The original Home Guard militia was commanded by John M. Delph, the mayor of Louisville. When the Confederate states seceded, he demanded the keys to the state magazine to secure the supply of weapons and ammunition from seizure.
Hlynka was born in the Western Ukrainian village of Denysiv, in the Ternopil Oblast of Halychyna, then a province of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. He moved to Canada with his family in 1910, when he was three, and was raised in a homesteader community in Alberta's Delph district, about 18 miles northeast of Lamont. He was educated in both Ukrainian and English. Hlynka moved to Edmonton in 1922 and graduated from Alberta College the following year, but was unable to attend university.
At the same time, the remaining westerly portion of F.Q. Story's land was opened as "West Story" by developers Cowley, Higgins and Delph Company. It was also known as Franklin Addition, named for the new primary school nearby. Building restrictions were more modest still, just $2500 and $2200, which allowed working families to build in the area. Development hit its peak in 1930 with the construction of 133 new houses, only to falter as the effects of the Great Depression hit Phoenix.
Ashton-Under-Lyne bus station Many bus services use the bus station. The majority of services are run by Stagecoach Manchester with the remainder of services run by First Greater Manchester and Manchester Community Transport. There are frequent buses running to Hyde, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Stalybridge and Stockport plus several parts of the Tameside area including Denton, Droylsden, Dukinfield and Mossley. Buses also run to parts of Saddleworth, such as Greenfield, Delph, Denshaw and Uppermill, Chorlton, Middleton plus Glossop in Derbyshire.

Many of the original 17th and 18th century barns and weavers' cottages survive today as listed buildings. Together with neighbouring Delph, Dobcross is, geographically, "considered as the centre of Saddleworth", although is not its largest village centre by some margin. Industrial tycoon Henry Platt was born in Dobcross in 1770. John Schlesinger's 1979 film Yanks was filmed on location in Dobcross, and an annual Yanks festival, coupled with a brass band contest on Whit Friday, each contribute to the village's cultural calendar.
Denshaw is a village in Saddleworth—a civil parish of the Metropolitan Borough of Oldham, in Greater Manchester, England. It lies by the source of the River Tame, high amongst the Pennines above the village of Delph, northeast of Oldham, north-northwest of Uppermill and Shaw and Crompton. It has a population of around 500. Historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Denshaw and its surroundings have provided archaeological evidence of Stone and Bronze Age activity in the area.
Next approach was to John Hainsworth a local joiner who also agreed. The last approach was to Mr Harry Shepherd the local builder who agreed but said he would give six scaffold poles for the goal posts instead of ten pounds. A loan of thirty pounds from the founder of the club, Gordon Wright, set the club on its way. An approach was made to Bradford City Corporation Parks Committee to see if the Delph Recreation ground was available. The reply was “no”.
From here, the Fens Branch is a short, navigable feeder from Fens Pools and the main canal continues for to Delph Locks, a flight at the start of the Dudley Canal, which originally consisted of nine locks, but was rebuilt as eight in 1858. The canal forms part of the Stourport Ring, which is one of the popular cruising rings for leisure boating. The length of the route is , and it passes through 105 locks located on six inter-connected waterways.
During flooding of the River Stour on 7 September 2008 a major breach occurred. This swept away a length of towpath and bank between Bellsmill and Stourton Locks, completely draining the pounds, including the Stourbridge Town Arm. The problem was caused by the River Stour flooding the area around the Stourbridge terminus, resulting in water level surges further along the canal. British Waterways restored navigation from the Dudley Canal, via Delph Locks and Wordsley Junction into the Town Arm fairly quickly.
The remains of a Roman road serving camps at Coccium (Wigan) and Mamucium (Manchester) passed through the area. It ran from Keeper Delph in Boothstown crossing Mort Lane north west of Cleworth Hall and south of Shakerley Old Hall. The road continued towards the Valley at Atherton where coins have been found, and on towards Gibfield and Wigan. In 1947, two urns containing about 550 Roman bronze coins, minted between AD 259 and AD 278, were found near the old Tyldesley–Worsley border.
Delph Bridge Drain is a 0.15 hectare biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north-west of Soham in Cambridgeshire. This site has the only known British population of fen ragwort, which was previously believed to have become extinct in the UK in 1857, due to habitat destruction. It was re- discovered in 1971 when dormant seeds probably germinated following excavation of the drain. The site is a short stretch of ditch next to the A142 road between Soham and Ely.
Following high school, Brewer attended Westark Community College (now the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith). Brewer then signed to play for coach Eddie Sutton at the University of Arkansas. One of the famed "Triplets" along with Sidney Moncrief and Marvin Delph, Brewer was named All-American in 1978. He averaged 18.0 points per game while helping the Arkansas Razorbacks reach the Final Four in the 1978 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament, and was also named to the All- Tournament Team.
Entrance to the caverns Crank Caverns is the common name of the remains of the Rainford Delph Quarry near Crank in St. Helens, Merseyside, England. It is a network of tunnels and caverns, as well as an extensive woodland. Information in the St. Helens local history archives states that sandstone quarrying began here as early as 1730. As the quarry expanded, the cost of purchasing land to open cast mine it increased, so it was decided to opt for a different method.
A 1912 Railway Clearing House Junction Diagram showing railways in the vicinity of Oldham Glodwick Road (upper centre) The station opened on 1 November 1862 on the London and North Western Railway (LNWR) line between and , the bulk of which had been open since 1856. It replaced the LNWR's original terminus at Oldham Mumps which closed the same day. The station closed on 2 May 1955, when the Delph Donkey passenger train service to via Greenfield was withdrawn. The line remained open for goods traffic until 1964.
Villa produced a great result in their first game of December, by beating Southampton 2–3 at St Mary's. Southampton twice equalised after Villa had led through Gabriel Agbonlahor's first goal of the season and then a Libor Kozák header. Fabian Delph grabbed the winner ten minutes from time with a 25-yard strike, his first ever Premier League goal. However four days later Villa suffered only their second away defeat of the season, after a disappointing performance in an eventual 2–0 defeat against Fulham.
The only brewing today in Netherton takes place at the Old Swan pub (Ma Pardoe's). However, two of the remaining Black Country brewers, Holdens and Bathams, have Netherton links. Edwin Alfred Holden and Lucy Blanche Holden, founders of the Holdens brewing concern, had their first pub in Netherton, whilst Daniel Batham, son of Daniel and Charlotte Batham who had started the family beer production, brewed at the King William in Cole Street, Netherton before moving the brewery to its present location at the Vine on the Delph.
One son, Thomas Astbury, had begun business in Lane Delph, Stoke, in 1725, and was the first English manufacturer of what came to be called creamware. Samuel Astbury, also a potter, a brother of John Astbury, married Elizabeth, the sister of Thomas Wedgwood, father of Josiah Wedgwood, and was in 1744 one of the witnesses to the deed of Josiah's apprenticeship to pottery-making. One of Wedgwood's biographers attributed his success to his adoption of the important inventions described above, with which she credits Samuel Astbury.Eliza Meteyard.
The church was built in 1765 to serve a growing local population who otherwise had to go to church in Rochdale or Saddleworth. A bellcote was added to the exterior in the 19th century, and fittings were added to the interior during the same century. Many of these fittings were removed to the new parish church in Delph when the old church was closed. The old church was declared redundant on 16 April 1970, and was vested in the Trust on 24 May 1972.
John Lewis Byrom (20 July 1851 – 24 August 1931) was an English first-class cricketer, who played two matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 1874, home and away against Gloucestershire, and for the Gentlemen of the North against the Players of the North at Fartown Ground, Huddersfield, in September 1877. His right arm fast medium bowling was not called upon in the first-class game. Born in Saddleworth in the West Riding of Yorkshire, England, Byrom died aged 80, in August 1931 in Delph, Saddleworth.
Yarrow Reservoir was begun in 1867 and designed by Thomas Duncan, the Liverpool Borough Engineer. The Rivington watershed comprises 10,000 acres (40 km²) of land and the average flow rate through the filter beds at Horwich is 8.96 million litres/day (2.24 million gallons/day). To the east of the area can be found the separate chains of Belmont, Delph, Turton and Entwistle, Wayoh and Jumbles reservoirs. Situated in the northeast is Haslingden Grane, a glaciated valley with three reservoirs, Calf Hey, Ogden and Holden Wood.
Around 0.7 miles from the town is a former sandstone quarry, known locally as Star Delph Quarry. Its use as a sandstone quarry ended in 1897. Part of the quarry contains rocks formed around 314 to 315 million years ago in the Carboniferous period, These rocks contain an imprint from where the roots of a Lepidodendron, which are known as Stigmaria. This quarry is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and so it is protected by law with those that damage the site facing fines.
John Millbank Delph (August 18, 1805 in Madison County, Virginia – December 16, 1891 in Louisville) was the eighth and fourteenth mayor of Louisville, Kentucky. His terms of office extended from May 13, 1850 to April 26, 1852 and April 6, 1861 to April 4, 1863. He was a carpenter by trade, but entered into real estate in Louisville and became wealthy. He held various public offices in Louisville and Jefferson County, including city tax collector, constable, sheriff and deputy marshall of the chancery court.
Delph Carpenter, a Colorado attorney, proposed that the seven states which fell within the river's basin (California, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado and Wyoming) form an interstate compact, with the approval of Congress. Such compacts were authorized by Article I of the United States Constitution but had never been concluded among more than two states. In 1922, representatives of seven states met with then-Secretary of Commerce Herbert Hoover. Initial talks produced no result, but when the Supreme Court handed down the Wyoming v.

The road then crossed the young River Trent and ran down Lane Delph (now the end of the modern King Street, Fenton), toward Normacot.
With only one shot on target, the Saints could not cancel out the early goal from Bojan, slipping down to eighth in the table. Fleet is a village, civil parish and electoral ward in the South Holland district of Lincolnshire, England. It lies on Delph Bank, south-east from Holbeach. The population of the civil parish, including Fleet Hargate, at the 2011 census was 2136. In 1086, Fleet was listed as Fleot (Old English: the stream, estuary or creek), in the wapentake of Elloe in the Parts of Holland of Lincolnshire.Open Domesday Online: Fleet, Lincolnshire The Grade I listed Church of England parish church, dating from the late 12th century, is dedicated to St Mary Magdalene.
The river flows generally south through Delph, Uppermill, Mossley, Stalybridge, Ashton-under-Lyne, Dukinfield, Haughton Green, Denton and Hyde. The Division Bridge (which spans the river at Mossley), marks the meeting point of the traditional boundaries of Lancashire, Yorkshire and Cheshire. The section through Stalybridge was once mooted as a diversion route for the restoration of the Huddersfield Narrow Canal although the canal was later de- culverted along a different route. At the end of its course, the confluence with the River Goyt forms the River Mersey at Stockport.
One writer said that when finished, it "will be the most extraordanary thing in the kingdom, if not in Europe. The boats in some places are to go underground, and in other places over a navigable river, without communicating with its waters ..." Worsley Delph, now a scheduled monument, was the entrance to the Duke's underground mines. Two entrances, built years apart, allowed access to the Starvationer boats, the largest of which could carry of coal. The entrances allow access to of underground canal on four levels, linked by inclined planes.
The Washington Post also named Claudia Keller as another salary recipient who was a possible "ghost employee" and reported that her family members were also paid by Burton. In addition, Burton revealed in 1998 that he was the father of a child by a woman who was not his wife and that the boy was then fifteen years old. Although the Congressional Accountability Project filed a letter of complaint against Burton, which also made mention of Sharon Delph, the ethics investigation in the media was never pursued by the Congressional Ethics Committee.
The two patrol boats gave chase and captured the sampan one hundred meters further up the canal. As the patrol boat returned to the river with the captured sampan in tow, it was ambushed by a Viet Cong patrol that unleashed an overwhelming barrage of heavy machine-gunfire and rockets. USS Ford (FFG-54) Two explosive B-40 rockets struck Ford's boat, immediately killing the patrol leader, William E. Dennis, and Boatswain's Mate First Class Scott C. Delph. Within seconds, the boat was ablaze and out of control, heading directly for the Viet Cong positions.

Containerization has its origins in early coal mining regions in England beginning in the late 18th century. In 1766 James Brindley designed the box boat 'Starvationer' with 10 wooden containers, to transport coal from Worsley Delph (quarry) to Manchester by Bridgewater Canal. In 1795, Benjamin Outram opened the Little Eaton Gangway, upon which coal was carried in wagons built at his Butterley Ironwork. The horse-drawn wheeled wagons on the gangway took the form of containers, which, loaded with coal, could be transshipped from canal barges on the Derby Canal, which Outram had also promoted.
It is internationally important for its wintering and breeding waterfowl and waders, such as teal, pintail and wigeon. The smallest is Delph Bridge Drain at , a short stretch of ditch which was designated because it was found to have a population of fen ragwort, which was believed to have been extinct in Britain since 1857. The only site designated for both biological and geological interests is Ely Pits and Meadows, which has nationally important numbers of bitterns, and has yielded sauropod dinosaurs and pliosaur marine reptiles dating to the Jurassic period.
Member states of the Colorado River Compact Map of Colorado River Basin The Colorado River Compact is a 1922 agreement among seven U.S. states in the basin of the Colorado River in the American Southwest governing the allocation of the water rights to the river's water among the parties of the interstate compact. The agreement, originally proposed by attorney Delph Carpenter, was signed at a meeting at Bishop's Lodge, near Santa Fe, New Mexico, by representatives of the seven states the Colorado river and its tributaries pass through on the way to Mexico.
Much of the fen was flooded in 1862, when a section of the South Delph flood bank failed. The Great Northern Railway Company, who owned the Witham at this time, argued that although the river was their responsibility, the bank was not, as it was not specifically mentioned in the 1812 Act. However, Lincoln Assizes decided differently, and awarded damages to those affected by the flood. The engine was replaced by a Marshall steam engine and Gwynnes pump sometime in the early twentieth century, which was itself replaced by a Ruston oil engine in 1940.
Thomas Dadford, Sr., was engaged as the engineer and surveyor, and acted in this capacity until 1783, after which he was employed more informally. The junction between the Dudley canal and the Stourbridge canal would be at the foot of the 9-lock Black Delph flight. The Act allowed the company to raise £7,000, and this had been subscribed by July 1778, but was insufficient to finance the work. The company continued to call money on the shares, and raised £9,200 in this way, with each £100 share being worth £128.
As a result, the cost rose from £238,000 to £302,000, and a tunnel toll was charged to help recoup the cost. Gas lights provided illumination, which were later replaced by electric lighting. The short Two Locks Line was built to reduce the distance travelled by boats passing through the Lapal Tunnel and heading for the Stourbridge Canal. Brewins Tunnel, which had been built on the Lodge Farm Cut in 1838 was made into a cutting, and the Delph Flight of nine locks were rebuilt, the middle seven being replaced by six new locks.
Three Peaks Primary Academy is part of Creative Education Trust which is a charity and multi-academy trust. The second education provider in the area is Stonydelph Primary School located on Crowden road. A local centre is located on Ellerbeck road which contains almost all of Stonydelph's facilities that serve the area. These include: Spar supermarket, Subway(located in the supermarket), post office(located in the supermarket), church (St Martins in the Delph), pharmacy, hairdressers, Mccolls newsagents, Stonydelph Fish and Chips shop, dentist, Stonydelph health centre, Blacksmith Arms pub.
Two large disused quarries exist today at Bixhead (neither are open to the public). Other disused quarries also exist, on both sides, further down the valley; the largest being Spion Kop. Several disused levels and shafts can also be seen in the valley, although none can be accessed. The Yorkley seam outcrops in the lower half of the valley and was worked using relatively short drifts or shallow pits, but the thicker, and more important, Coleford High Delph seam could only be reached via shafts or longer levels, also called drifts.
The following season saw high hopes for Howson but he ultimately struggled to find his form. Fabian Delph superseded him as the club's hot young prospect and the team's indifferent form put added further pressure on the young midfielder. Howson remained a regular under McAllister for the first half of the season but the Scot's underwhelming tenure was eventually ended in December after five straight defeat in the league and cup. Blackpool manager Simon Grayson succeeded McAllister and Howson was mostly restricted to substitute appearances for his first ten games.
Since 1974, Smithills has been part of the Metropolitan Borough of Bolton and gives its name to one of Bolton Council's electoral wards, the Smithills ward which includes Barrow Bridge, Delph Hill, Doffcocker, Johnson Fold, Moss Bank Park, and Smithills Moor. It is represented in Bolton Town Hall by three councillors. At the United Kingdom Census 2011, the ward had a population of 14,011. The ward is also part of the Bolton West constituency and has been represented in the House of Commons by the Conservative Party MP Chris Green since 2015.
He was the first mayor to serve under a new city charter that allowed a two-year term for mayors, as opposed to the earlier single-year term. During his first term, the city experienced a Cholera epidemic, and Delph lead a push for better sanitation in Louisville. Though a member of the Whig Party during his first term, he became a Unionist and staunch supporter of the Union during and after that term. He served a term in the state legislature after his second term as mayor.
Instead of quarrying out the stone, they would mine it out, following a seam of stone until it ran out. This resulted in the network of caves, tunnels and shafts we see today. Rainford Delph is listed as a Colliery by 1854, under the ownership of Charles Howarth or Yorkshire Charlie as he was known locally by 1880. Mining finally ceased and the woods and caverns were used as a game reserve by the Earl of Derby until 1939, when they became a storage facility for ammunition for the anti-aircraft position at Crank.
The Masons of Lane Delph Mason was educated at King Edward's School, Birmingham, and from 1834 trained to be a doctor under William Royden Watts, a surgeon, of Birmingham, but abandoned medicine in 1844 in order to pursue a career as an artist. As a youth he was passionately fond of literature and athletics, and he inherited his father's taste for painting. An early oil sketch of his exists entitled "Dummy's Turn to Play" in which he tried to embody a ghastly incident of the time of the plague. He was also art critic to a local newspaper.
Johnson played for Leeds in the League 1 playoff final against Doncaster Rovers at Wembley, but was on the losing side as Leeds lost 1–0. After struggling to get a first team place under manager Gary McAllister due to the emergence of Fabian Delph, Johnson joined League One rivals Brighton & Hove Albion on loan until 3 January 2009. Johnson scored twice on his debut during the 3–2 victory over Leicester City. Johnson scored four goals in 10 matches on loan at Brighton before returning to his parent club Leeds United, now with a new manager, Simon Grayson.
In October 1979, Clark had Marty Johnstone (Mr Asia) lured to Britain on the pretext of a drug deal to take place in Scotland. Johnstone was murdered by his longtime friend Andy Maher under the orders of Terry Clark, and his handless body was dumped in Eccleston Delph, Lancashire, mutilated in a hasty but failed attempt to foil identification by the police. Maher not only cut off his hands, but battered Johnstone's face hoping to prevent dental identification. Initially the police were unable to identify the victim, and published a death mask of Johnstone in several newspapers to assist identification.
The West Lancashire Light Railway (WLLR) is a narrow gauge railway that operates at Hesketh Bank,BBC News Report situated between Preston and Southport in North West England.WLLR website The distance between the stations on the railway is , though track extends eastwards beyond Delph station on ledge above the old clay pit which is too narrow to contain a run round loop. An extension of up to , running along the north bank of the fishing lake has been proposed. The railway has eight steam locomotives, four of which are in operating condition; one is currently being restored and another is on static display.
In an eventful second period Kevin Nolan had a goal disallowed for West Ham before goals from Arnautović and a powerful strike from Odemwingie earned Stoke a 3–1 victory lifting them to 11th position. For a second week running Stoke were looking for another double this time over Midlands rivals Aston Villa. Stoke made a slow start and fell behind after five minutes after slack defending by Geoff Cameron allowed Fabian Delph to cross to Christian Benteke for a simple goal. Stoke came back strongly and levelled after good link up play between Odemwingie and Crouch.
Wolstenholme was born in Chadderton, Lancashire on 15 April 1947, and went to school at North Chadderton Secondary Modern School. His first instrument was a tenor banjo, which he took up at the age of 12, and he also played tenor horn for the Delph band. He met John Lees at Oldham School of Art and Woolly played tambourine and sang with John in the Sorcerers, then the Keepers, where Woolly played whatever instrument was required, such as harmonica and twelve-string guitar.Barclay James Harvest Biography The pair then founded Barclay James Harvest, together with Les Holroyd and Mel Pritchard, in 1967.
The Duke's mines were among those supplying the surrounding districts but transport was both inefficient and expensive, and the mines also suffered from persistent flooding. His solution to these problems was to build a canal from Worsley to Salford, and an underground canal into the mines from Worsley Delph. The canal boats would carry at a time, – more than ten times the amount of cargo per horse that was possible with a cart. The Duke and his estate manager obtained an Act of Parliament empowering them to begin construction on a planned route directly to Salford, avoiding the River Irwell.
Greenfield railway station, Saddleworth and Oldham's only remaining railway station Since the Oldham Loop closed, Greenfield is the only place in Saddleworth and the whole Metropolitan Borough of Oldham which has a railway station. Grotton & Springhead, Delph and Grasscroft stations closed in 1955, whilst Diggle and Saddleworth stations closed in 1968. Greenfield railway station lies along the Huddersfield Line with services running towards Huddersfield via Marsden and Slaithwaite and towards Manchester Victoria via Mossley, Stalybridge and Ashton-under-Lyne. A second line, known as the Micklehurst Line, cut through the village and was mainly used for freight.
The reservoir itself (known as Ogden Water) is sourced from water draining off Skirden Edge, through Skirden Clough, to the west and from the north the reservoir takes in water from Deep Gulf and Spa Flat, above the now disused Fly Delph Quarry, through the Great Scar and Ogden Clough. The reservoir is deep, holds of water and was completed in 1858 to supply fresh water to Halifax. The water is surrounded by of mixed conifer and broad leafed nature reserve that attracts 300,000 visitors a year. The construction of the reservoir was started in 1854.
All three partners in the realty company of Cowley, Higgins and Delph lived in "West Story," as did a number of O'Malley Lumber Company employees. The people who were first drawn to the neighborhood were considered one of its primary attractions. At one point during its development, the Price & Price Investment Company ran an advertisement listing the names and occupations of nearly all Story Addition property owners in an attempt to encourage sales. Homes were fairly small and, even at their most lavish, relatively inexpensive in comparison with some of the other emerging Phoenix neighborhoods of this era.
The basketball team rose to prominence in the 1970s now under the coaching of Eddie Sutton and with future NBA star Sidney Moncrief along with Marvin Delph and Ron Brewer, three similarly-sized Arkansas bred guards, known as "The Triplets". The team made a Final Four appearance under him, finishing 3rd by defeating Notre Dame on a last-second shot in the now-defunct consolation game. In the 1980s, the football team was now coached by Ken Hatfield, and established itself as a powerful running team. The Razorbacks challenged for the SWC title each year and went to the Cotton Bowl Classic twice.
Worsley Delph, the entrance to the Duke of Bridgewater's underground mines Transport of coal was difficult; roads were poor and carting heavy loads made them worse. In 1720 the River Douglas near Wigan and the rivers Irwell and Mersey were made navigable, providing a more efficient and cheaper method of transporting coal. The Sankey Canal was built in 1755 and by 1760 Francis Egerton, 3rd Duke of Bridgewater was constructing the Bridgewater Canal, providing a direct link from his mines, the Worsley Navigable Levels, into Manchester. This encouraged the development of more canals, including the Leeds and Liverpool and Manchester Bolton & Bury Canals.
Christian Benteke then skipped through the Stoke defence and slid the ball into the back of the net to wrap up the points for Villa, as well as the third win in their last four games. Villa drew 1–1 in their next game against Fulham, with Charles N'Zogbia giving Villa the lead but a Fabian Delph own goal meant the points were shared. Villa then faced Manchester United, with United being crowned champions if they won. They did so, 3–0, after Robin van Persie scored a hat-trick within the first 33 minutes of the game.
Goram was also a league cricketer, appearing as a wicket-keeper and batsman for various Oldham clubs in the Saddleworth League, including Delph & Dobcross, Moorside and also East Lancashire Paper Mill in Radcliffe, Bury. Goram played for Penicuik Cricket Club, Kelso Cricket Club, West Lothian County and Uddingston CC in Scottish cricket leagues. He represented Scotland four times: twice (1989 and 1991) in the annual first-class game against Ireland and twice (again in 1989 and 1991) in the NatWest Trophy. Goram is the only person to have played in a first-class cricket match and a full international football match for Scotland.
Timberland is situated near the Car Dyke, which used to be navigable. The village is west from Tattershall, north-east from Sleaford, and south-west from Woodhall Spa. Timberland Delph View eastwards towards the village Set within a patchwork of fields in the wetlands of the Lincolnshire Fens, the village is just south of the River Witham and near to the village of Martin. The illustrated signpost with the town name has a plaque above showing the nearby Car Dyke waterway which was once navigable but later drained by small canals to make the surrounding land suitable for farm use.
He scored his first top-flight goal in a 1–1 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on 7 April. On 2 May, he was recorded on video taking part in an early morning "nightclub brawl", along with team-mates James Collins and Fabian Delph. He said that his actions "were out of character", and was forced to pay a club fine as manager Alex McLeish called the incident a "slur on the club". loan to Bolton Wanderers against Chelsea in the League Cup in 2014 Herd scored his second goal for Villa in a League Cup win over Tranmere Rovers on 28 August 2012.
Villa somewhat made amends for their poor results in February, with a 4–1 home win against Norwich City in their first match of March. First half goals from Christian Benteke (2), Leandro Bacuna and an own goal from Sébastien Bassong gave Villa the victory, after Wes Hoolahan had given Norwich an early lead. Villa followed the victory with another, this time against league leaders Chelsea. Fabian Delph scored the only goal with a deft flick, in a match where Chelsea finished with nine men after having Willian and Ramires sent off, as well as manager José Mourinho being sent to the stands late on.
The line through Greenfield was constructed by the Huddersfield and Manchester Railway, which was absorbed by the London and North Western Railway on 9 July 1847 before any of it was opened. The section between and was opened on 1 August 1849, and the station at Greenfield was opened the same day. On 1 September 1851, the branch to opened, which left the main line at Delph Junction, about a mile to the north of Greenfield; Greenfield was the last station before the junction until opened in 1912. A second branch, to Oldham, opened on 5 July 1856; it left the main line just to the south of Greenfield.
The old hospital had its origins in a seven-bedroom mansion was known as The Hill, the home of George Mills, a glass manufacturer who was a partner in the Albert Glass House situated in Wordsley. He committed suicide on 13 November 1885 after several years of mental illness. He left debts of £11,344-12s-6d, and even though the house was in a poor state of repair it was eventually sold to pay of the liabilities. John Corbett, who spent his youth living at the Delph, made his fortune producing salt at Stoke Prior, Worcestershire and, perhaps remembering his youth, purchased the rather rundown house in December 1891.
He became the 7th overall pick by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 1978 NBA Draft. Sidney Moncrief was drafted the following year by the Milwaukee Bucks 5th overall in the 1979 NBA Draft, and became a five time NBA All-Star and was awarded a spot on the All-NBA First Team in 1983. His jersey was retired by the Bucks. Marvin Delph was drafted the same year as Brewer but in the 3rd round (65th overall) by the Buffalo Braves and then drafted again the next year by the Boston Celtics in the 6th round of the 1979 NBA draft along with Moncrief but never played in the NBA.
The parish boundary with Heighington passes close to the edge of the east of the village, skirting the school's playing fields. The boundary follows Moor Lane across the railway line along the road to Branston Booths where it meets the B1190 and Car Dyke, and along the Branston Delph on Branston Fen, crossing the River Witham, becoming the North Kesteven and West Lindsey boundary. The section north-east of the Witham is called Branston Island, meeting Fiskerton, Stainfield and Bardney, passing Bardney Lock. It meets Potter Hanworth at Bardney Bridge and follows Branston Causeway (which becomes the B1190) westwards, skirting the north edge of Potterhanworth Booths.
In 1812, the Witham was straightened by cutting the South Delph, and the part of Branston parish which was now on the east bank of the Witham became known as Branston Island. Drainage was by a wind engine, but this was not adequate for the job, and in 1832 a further Act was obtained to allow a steam engine to be used. The Witham Commissioners thought that the extra volume of water and the speed with which it would be pumped would damage the river banks, and sought an injunction to prevent the use of steam power. This was refused, and a engine was installed.
A Horseley Ironworks bridge over the disused Two Locks Line The canal forms an end-on junction with the Stourbridge Canal at the foot of the eight Delph Locks. These are usually known as the Nine Locks, even though they were rebuilt in 1858 as a flight of eight. There is a well-restored stable block by lock 3, and a grade II listed lock keepers house near the line of the old locks, which was built in 1779, probably to a standard design by Thomas Dadford. Above the locks, the canal passes Merry Hill Shopping Centre, built on the site of Round Oak Steelworks after its closure in 1983.
The railway company did not object, although it imposed a condition that dividends paid to shareholders would be restricted to 4 per cent until the cost of the new works had been paid. The scheme included replacing Delph Locks on the Dudley Canal, an extension to Lord Hay's Branch, and the construction of the Cannock Extension Canal, including two feeder tramways. The canal was opened to Rumer Hill Junction in 1858 and its length was fully open by 1863. A connection was made to the Hatherton Canal, a branch of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal, at Churchbridge Junction via the Churchbridge Branch, which had thirteen locks.
David I of Scotland was responsible for Tullibody's claim to fame when in 1149 he granted the lands and fishing rights to Cambuskenneth Abbey and it was then that the Auld Kirk was erected, where it still stands today. Hugh de Roxburgh was the rector of Tullibody, Chancellor of Scotland and bishop of Glasgow in the late 12th century. A 19th century map shows the church with the Priest's Well and the Maiden Stone at the graveyard. Edward I of England, in his attempt to subdue the Scots in 1306 reportedly tried to build a castle in Tullibody, on the hill behind the Delph Pond.
EFDSS director Douglas Kennedy collected a version in 1917 from a performer in Ilkley named Wilfred Hall, which was later printed in his son Peter Kennedy's book Folksongs of Britain & Ireland (1975). Several audio recordings have been made of traditional versions. Ken Stubbs recorded Albert Gartside of Delph, formerly in West Yorkshire, singing the song in 1964, whilst Fred Hamer recorded William Bleasdale singing a version in the village of Chipping in Lancashire some time in the 1950s or 60s. The American folklorist Helen Hartness Flanders recorded a version in her hometown of Springfield, Vermont and another in Naushon Isle, Massachusetts in the 1940s, suggesting that the song had made its way to North America with immigrants from Yorkshire.
450px The Ruabon Brook Tramway was a Welsh branch railway line linking the Ruabon coalfield to the Shropshire Union Canal at Froncysyllte, with a private extension into the Monsanto works at Cefn Mawr which reconnected to the main line at Trevor. The area was rich in coal, clay and minerals. The tramway was opened on 26 Nov 1805 between Pontcysyllte and Acrefair. The line was extended in 1808 from Acrefair to the Plas Madoc Colliery in Plasbennion and then into "The Delph" which climbed towards Penycae; after 1808 the line advanced via the industrial area around Wynn Hall and Copperas towards its summit at Pant, with level crossings on Plas Bennion and Penycae roads.

A day later, Villa lost their second league game of the season 1–3 to Everton. Goals from Steven Pienaar, Marouane Fellaini and Nikica Jelavić gave the Toffees a 0–3 half-time lead, before Ciaran Clark was sent off for Villa after fouling Jelavić, who at the time was the last man. Karim El Ahmadi scored from 30 yards, his first for Villa, but ultimately it was just a consolation. Villa and Lambert's first win of the new season came in the League Cup against Tranmere Rovers. Goals from Fabian Delph, Chris Herd and a first competitive goal since February 2012 for Darren Bent sealed a 3–0 victory for the Villans.
On 16 April 2011, he scored an injury- time winner away at West Ham United. Agbonlahor was less prolific in terms of goalscoring during 2010–11 due to Aston Villa manager Gérard Houllier preferring to use him as a winger. Agbonlahor scored his first goal of the 2011–12 season in Aston Villa's 3–1 home win over Blackburn Rovers on 20 August 2011, and followed this up with the leveller in a 2–2 away draw against Everton ten days later. For his positive performances during the opening month of the season, Agbonlahor was named as Aston Villa's Player of the Month for August 2011, beating off competition from Fabian Delph to the top spot.
Between the early 14th century and 1915, Scotgate Ash Quarry above the northern edge of Pateley Bridge, supplied Dimension stone (which was known commercially as Delph Stone) that was used in many buildings in Yorkshire and London. The stone was particularly prized as an edging stone for railway platforms and was used at , , , and railway stations. The Metcalfe family, who were landholders in the locality, had a major stake in Scot Gate Ash Quarry and by 1880, because of their influence, the quarry was the largest in the West Riding of Yorkshire. The Metcalfe's installed a standard gauge inclined tramway in 1872 to transport the stone down the hill to the goods sidings west of Pateley Bridge railway station.
Arkansas's famed Triplets, Marvin Delph, Ron Brewer and Sidney Moncrief, gave the rest of the league fits. Furthermore, the Razorbacks' Lee Mayberry, Todd Day and Oliver Miller won three straight SWC regular season and tournament titles from 1989–1991, the school's last three seasons in the conference. The passion of Arkansas fans for their Razorbacks often overran the confines of SWC basketball venues, so much so, that Reunion Arena in Dallas (annual site of the SWC postseason tournament) was deemed "Barnhill South" (after the Razorbacks' on-campus arena) based on the numbers and intensity of Hog fans present. Outstanding basketball coaches included Nolan Richardson, Tom Penders, Eddie Sutton, Abe Lemons, Guy V. Lewis, Shelby Metcalf and Gerald Myers.
Tullibody House Tullibody is a former mining town, although neither that industry nor any other major employers have a presence in the town, with many of the residents now commuting to Stirling and Alloa to work. Historically, there was work with wool employing 30–40 people and a tannery on Alloa Road, which employed 30 to 40 men processing leather and making glue. The site near the Delph Pond, a former curling pond, was demolished, being replaced with new housing in 2017. Since the late 1990s and early 2000s, there has been a rapid expansion in housebuilding in the town, with 400 new houses built on the north side of the village in the last 5 years.

Rio Ferdinand, whose father came from St. Lucia to Britain,"Rio: Game is 'great occasion'", 15 June 2006. is a former captain of the English national team. Fabian Delph, of Guyanese ancestry, won the 2017–18 Premier League with Manchester City and represented England at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Derby County player Michael Johnson, a player who has played for the Jamaica national football team The inaugural West Indian-born footballer to play football at a high level in Britain was Andrew Watson, who played for Queen's Park (Glasgow) and went on to play for Scotland. Born in May 1857 in British Guiana, Watson lived and worked in Scotland and came to be known as one of the best players of his generation.
While Delph was heading toward his first general election in 2006, he threw his support behind a controversial Senate Bill (Indiana SB-90) that would make it law to strengthen informed consent requiring information presented to women before abortions that 1) life begins at conception and 2) education about the pain felt by the unborn child. Planned Parenthood and other opponents rejected it on the grounds that the communication was religious indoctrination, the science was inconclusive, and the legislation amounted to interference in the doctor and patient relationship. Different versions passed the Indiana Senate and House and so the bills had to be reconciled in committee. In the end, the bill was unsuccessful by procedure because the necessary votes did not take place on time.
It follows the footpath east, then follows a hedge northwards to meet Fen Road (B1190), passing through Moor Farm, to the east of the farm shop, and north of Willow Tree Farm, it follows Middle Fen Lane to the north-east along Heighington Fen. It passes to the north of Slate House Farm along a track, and at Boundary Farm, next to the River Witham and National Cycle Route 1 (Water Rail Way), it becomes the North Kesteven boundary, with West Lindsey and Fiskerton. At Branston Island, on the Witham, it meets Branston, and follows the Branston Delph to the south-west. Just south of Corporation Farm, at Branston Booths, it crosses Bardney Road (B1190) and Car Dyke, then follows Moor Lane, and crosses the railway.
The Monkey Bridge At the junction of Stony Lane and Victoria Road by the roadside was the 19th century lock-up and a public urinal, however these have been walled up for some considerable time. The lock-up and urinal are now over-topped by a section of raised stone paved pavement with railings known as 'The Monkey Bridge' overlooking a small triangular area of land at the road junction that was the site of the village stocks. Eccleshill War Memorial North of Stony Lane is the former Stoney Lane Quarry now a recreation ground known as The Delph, a grassed area with a fenced children's play ground and triangulation pillar. South of Stony Lane is a grassed recreation ground or common with Village Green Status.
Frayne was born in Bradford, England, to an English mother and a father of Pakistani Pathan ancestry. Frayne is the eldest of four children, and his father was in prison for most of his childhood, where he grew up on the Delph Hill estate in Wyke, one of the most deprived areas in the UK at the time. Frayne suffered from bullying at school, and as a result, his grandfather taught him his first magic trick to make it seem like he was much heavier than he was in reality, so that other children couldn't pick him up. Frayne was diagnosed with Crohn's disease when he was a teenager, and had half of his stomach removed when he was 17 years old.
The Hogs received an at-large bid to the tournament after winning a share of the SWC Championship and beat AP #2 UCLA in the Sweet Sixteen before falling to eventual champion, Kentucky in the Final Four in St. Louis. The Hogs won the third place game against Notre Dame, 71–69. Sutton's 1978-79 team still managed a great campaign, despite the loss of two of the "Triplets," All-American Brewer and Delph. Repeating with a share of the Southwest Conference crown, the Hogs won the SWC Tournament to clinch the bid to the tournament. The Razorbacks advanced to the Elite Eight, where they lost a close game marred by a controversial last-minute missed tripping call to Larry Bird and undefeated Indiana State, 73–71.
The Great Harwood Power Loom Weavers' Association was a trade union representing cotton weavers in the Great Harwood area of Lancashire, in England. The union was founded in 1858, as the Harwood Branch of the East Lancashire Power Loom Weavers' Association, the association being the early name of the North East Lancashire Amalgamated Weavers' Association, or "First Amalgamation". Initially, it met in secrecy, in a delph, and its members were locked out, but thanks a donation of £846 from the Blackburn Weavers' Friendly Society, it survived. By 1863 it was operating on a firmer footing, and affiliated in its own right, as the Great Harwood and Billington Power Loom Weavers' Association, covering not only Harwood, but also Billington, Rishton, Whalley and York.
On 24 July 2017, it was announced that Premier League side Manchester City had signed Mendy on a five-year contract, for a fee reported to be £52m. The transfer fee eclipsed the previous record for a defender, set 10 days prior by City on teammate Kyle Walker. On 23 September, Mendy sustained an injury against Crystal Palace, hurting his right knee on a challenge against Palace forward Andros Townsend. The club later confirmed that Mendy had ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee, and he underwent surgery in Barcelona on 29 September. Mendy returned from injury on 22 April 2018 as a 75th minute substitute for Fabian Delph in a game against Swansea City at the City of Manchester Stadium.
Rosko GeeSpelling variations include "Rosco" and "Roscoe" is a Jamaican bassist, who has played with the English band Traffic on their albums When the Eagle Flies (1974) and The Last Great Traffic Jam (2005); with Go featuring Stomu Yamashta, Steve Winwood, Michael Shrieve, Klaus Schulze and Al Di Meola; and with the German band Can, along with former Traffic percussionist Rebop Kwaku Baah, appearing on the albums Saw Delight, Out of Reach and Can. He toured with Can in 1977 and also provided vocals for some of the band's songs during this period. In 1983, he recorded an album with Zahara, a group with several notable members including Rebop Kwaku Baah (percussion), Paul Delph (keyboards), Bryson Graham (drums). After recording with Traffic in 1974 he played in the Johnny Nash band, Sons of the Jungle.
