Defilers have no qualms about exploiting the environment, as every spell they cast sucks the life from the surrounding area and turns it into a sterile wasteland. The "Defiler Magical Destruction Table" indicates the effects of defiler magic on the immediate terrain. Preservers, striving to wield magic in harmony with nature, cause no damage to the environment when they cast spells.

In the early months of 2011, Souls Harbor lost two of its key members, Jonathan Fenin and Tony Bigley. Fenin left in order to devote his time to his successful career in the motion picture industry. In November 2011 it was announced that Tony Bigley had joined the metal band Defiler from East San Francisco, California.

Ghirahem told an inappropriate joke about goblins breastfeeding, and this confused the beast. While pondering this strange sword, Wm. Stage swung with all his might, and the dreaded beast from Yhar was decapitated.

In EverQuest II, Shaman actually describes two Priest classes - Mystics and Defilers. Mystic wards, abilities and spells are more defensively oriented, and their lore is generally good (vs evil). Defiler wards, abilities and spells are more offensively oriented, and their lore is generally evil (vs good). EverQuest II does not limit classes to certain races, so any of the 19 races can become a Shaman.

He has been performing live since the year 2002 and started touring when he was 17. Since then, he has done countless numbers of tours and has traveled to over 16 countries with various bands.

The Lex Frisionum of the duchy of Frisia consists of a medley of documents of the most heterogeneous character. Some of its enactments are purely pagan, thus one paragraph allows the mother to kill her new-born child, and another prescribes the immolation to the gods of the defiler of their temple; others are purely Christian, such as those that prohibit incestuous marriages and working on Sunday. The law abounds in contradictions and repetitions, and the compositions are calculated in different moneys. From this it appears the documents were merely materials collected from various sources and possibly with a view to the compilation of a homogeneous law.

It is the mate of Glamdring. In Peter Jackson's Hobbit films, the sword is found and wielded by Thorin Oakenshield but ends up in the possession of Legolas, who uses it in battle with the Orc Bolg but later returns it to Thorin so that the Dwarf may wield it against Azog the Defiler. Like Andúril and Glamdring in the Lord of the Rings films, it was not shown to glow in the presence of orcs due to the film-makers fearing that doing that made it resemble a lightsaber. Although described as the mate of Glamdring in the books, Orcrist in the films takes on a significantly different appearance akin to that of a kriegsmesser, being a two-handed, single-edged sword, with a deep, heavy belly and pronounced curve.
