As the short priced favourite, Lonhro was expected to have no problem taking out the Warwick S-Gr2 (1,400m) at his next start but was beaten a half head by Defier. Two weeks later, he won the Chelmsford S-Gr2 (1,600 m) at Randwick by three lengths. At his next start, only six horses lined up for the George Main Stakes-Gr1 (1,600m) but it was described as a mini Cox Plate with Sunline, Defier, Lonhro, Excellerator and Shogun Lodge entered.

Take Charge Lady is a bay mare with a white star bred in Kentucky by William Schettine, the owner of the Florida-based Signature Stallions stud. During her racing career she was described a being "lean" and "lanky" in appearance. She was sired by Dehere, the American Champion two-year-old colt of 1993 whose other progeny included Defier (George Main Stakes) and Graeme Hall (Jim Dandy Stakes). Take Charge Lady's dam Felicita, was an unraced daughter of the American Champion Sprint Horse Rubiano.

At her next start, she carried the number one saddlecloth to victory in Doncaster Handicap. With 58 kilos, she defeated Shogun Lodge (who also carried 58 kilos) and Defier (who carried 51.5 kilos but was trapped wide). She closed her campaign with a six length victory in the weight-for age All-Aged Stakes. By winning these races, she became the first horse in Australasia to pass the $11 million mark in career earnings and with 13 Group One wins, she was within one of Kingston Town's record of 14 Group One races.

He was the raging favourite for the Doncaster Handicap-Gr1 (1,600 m) at Randwick, where he carried topweight of 57.5 kg. Defier and Shogun Lodge looked to be his main dangers, but then the rain fell and both his rivals were scratched when the track was rated officially slow. Inside the final 200m, Grand Armee, carrying 6 kg less than Lonhro, hit the front and raced clear to pass the post three lengths ahead of Dash For Cash with two lengths to Boreale, who held out Lonhro for third.

In August 2003, Lonhro began his 5yo season with his second win in the AJC Warwick S-Gr2 (1,400m). Two weeks later, it was on to the Chelmsford S-Gr2 (1,600m) where he again won. The WFA George Main Stakes-Gr1 (1,600m) at Randwick and a rematch with Grand Armee was next. In a slowly run race, Lonhro defeated Grand Armee by three lengths, with a further two lengths to the previous year's winner, Defier, in third. It was then to back to Melbourne for the Caulfield Stakes-Gr1 (2,000m), where Lonhro beat Mummify.

Winning by two lengths, he became the first horse to win consecutive Caulfield Stakes since Kingston Town in 1981 and 1982. Two weeks later, Lonho looked invincible in the Cox Plate-Gr1 (2,040m) with recent stars Sunline and Northerly missing and only Defier and Fields of Omagh joining Lonhro from the 2002 field. There were doubts over Lonhro handling the Moonee Valley surface, but his class was expected to overcome any problems. Then, in the 40 minutes before the race, it began to rain, continuing through to the race itself.

Lonhro was pocketed on the fence for much of the race and only saw daylight in the last 50 m, sprinting home to finish fourth. Sunline set a moderate pace in front from Defier, then Shogun Lodge outside Lonhro with Hey Pronto and Excellerator at the rear. Lonhro was then sent to Melbourne for a rematch with Sunline in the Caulfield Stakes-Gr1 (2,000m). A field of seven lined up, but all race discussions were whether Sunline as a 7yo would return to form and if Lonhro, having his first start beyond 1,600m, would be as effective over 2,000 m.

Fields of Omagh crossed the line to win by a long neck from Defier with Lonhro a half length away third. For the second year running, Lonhro had failed to run as well as expected in the Cox Plate. Critics claimed that the horse was a fair weather champion, dominant in small weight-for-age fields but unable to cope with the pressure of a larger field. In 2004, Lonhro opened his campaign in the C.F. Orr S-Gr1 (1,400 m) at Caulfield. Inside the final 100m, he swept up on the outside to hit the front from Sound Action and Super Elegant as Vocabulary took a narrow run between them.

In the spring, Sunline notched her fifth consecutive win when taking the Mudgway Stakes first-up in New Zealand, and returned to Sydney for the George Main Stakes. Sunline led but was run down by Defier and Excellerator. In her next start Sunline led, and, to a huge roar from the crowd, skipped away by more than three lengths at the top of the straight, but Lonhro loomed up strongly close to home to score in race record time, with a margin of six lengths back to the third horse. The clash may have flattened Sunline and Lonhro, who appeared to race below their best when fourth and sixth, respectively, behind Northerly in the Cox Plate.

On May 26, 2010, Kahn was found guilty of conspiracy to defraud the United States and conspiracy to commit mail fraud as well as one count of mail fraud,Four Florida Promoters of Tax Defier Schemes Convicted of Tax and Mail Fraud in connection with the sale of worthless "bills of exchange" for the purpose of impeding the Internal Revenue Service and promoting other schemes to orchestrate tax fraud. Kahn was accused of manufacturing over $1 billion in fictitious financial instruments purporting to be drawn on the U.S. Treasury. Others found guilty in the affair were Stephen C. Hunter, Danny True and Allan J. Tanguay. On August 30, 2010, Kahn was sentenced to twenty years in prison on these convictions.

Robinson. His Ship of the Righteous was a great success in Poland. According to Spencer Golub, The Chief Thing play provides a "compendium of Evreinovian aesthetics and devices" and features Harlequin "as death-defier and life- transformer".

At his next start, in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Shogun Lodge ran one of his worst races, finishing second-last, and, in an 'ominous' sign, was found to have had an 'irregular heart reading'. (includes photographs) After his first and only winless season at six, Shogun Lodge won the City Tatt's Lightning Handicap first-up as a seven-year-old (coincidentally, over the same course as his debut win, five years earlier), and was sent to Flemington for two further races.
