Ian Nathan of the British magazine Empire gave the film three out of five stars and criticized its B movie conventions, stating that "You're never entirely sure whether you're laughing at or with Deep Blue Sea." Variety reviewer Robert Koehler felt the computer generated sharks were inconsistently realized, but nevertheless highlighted the flooding of the facility very positively.

During the play's run he appeared as a worried parent in a thriller, The Yellow Balloon (1953). He was in another Hollywood-financed film, Never Let Me Go (1953), playing a colleague of Clark Gable.

The Book of Love is a 2016 American drama film directed and rewritten by Bill Purple from an original script by Robbie Pickering featuring Maisie Williams, Jessica Biel, Jason Sudeikis, Mary Steenburgen, Orlando Jones, and Paul Reiser. The film had its world premiere under its original title The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 14, 2016. It was released in the United States on January 13, 2017, by Electric Entertainment.
"Put 'em in a Box, Tie 'em with a Ribbon, and Throw 'em in the Deep Blue Sea" is a popular song. The music was written by Jule Styne, the lyrics by Sammy Cahn. The song was published in 1947, and was further popularised in the 1948 movie Romance on the High Seas, where it was sung by Doris Day. Popular recordings in 1948 were by Doris Day; Eddy Howard & His Orchestra; and by Nat King Cole.
Rebecca Spikings-Goldsman (September 21, 1967 – July 6, 2010), who was widely credited as Rebecca Spikings, was an American film producer and filmmaker. She produced or co-produced a number of films, including Deep Blue Sea in 1999 and 2004's Mindhunters. Her television work included the 1996 HBO movie, Mistrial, starring Bill Pullman. Spikings began her film production career as an associate producer on the 1991 independent comedy, Pyrates, starring Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick.
She initially worked at Irving Azoff's production company Giant Pictures before leaving for Renny Harlin's Midnight Sun Pictures, where she worked for six years. Her producing credits at Midnight Sun Pictures included Deep Blue Sea and Mindhunters, both of which were directed by Renny Harlin. Spikings-Goldsman was also the co-executive producer for Cutthroat Island in 1995 and Driven in 2001. Rebecca Spikings-Goldsman died of a heart attack on July 6, 2010, at the age of 42.

A number of adaptations for other media of The Deep Blue Sea have been made. The first, for BBC Television, was broadcast live on 17 and 21 January 1954 in the Sunday Night Theatre strand, with Kenneth More as Freddie, and Googie Withers as Hester. Also, Googie toured Australia and New Zealand in a production presented by JC Williamson Theatres. A further BBC version, in the Play of the Month series was transmitted on 17 March 1974.

Deep Blue Sea was first released on DVD on December 7, 1999, courtesy of Warner Home Video. Special features include the film in a 2.35:1 anamorphic format, two behind- the-scene featurettes, five deleted scenes with extended dialogue and relationships between the characters, and an audio commentary in which Harlin and Jackson discuss the film's technical features and special effects. Warner also released the film on Blu-ray on October 12, 2010, which includes the same special features from the DVD release.

Principal photography for Deep Blue Sea began on August 3, 1998. Most of the film was shot at Fox Baja Studios in Rosarito, Mexico, where the production team constructed sets above the large water tanks that had been built for James Cameron's 1997 film Titanic. Some of the sets were designed so that they could be submerged, while others were built on sound stages with fishtanks used as windows. At Fox Baja Studios, the cast worked with sharks that were either animatronic or computer generated.

In contrast to the complex portrayals by Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders, the European and Western view of sharks has historically been mostly of fear and malevolence. Sharks are used in popular culture commonly as eating machines, notably in the Jaws novel and the film of the same name, along with its sequels. Sharks are threats in other films such as Deep Blue Sea, The Reef, and others, although they are sometimes used for comedic effect such as in Finding Nemo and the Austin Powers series. Sharks tend to be seen quite often in cartoons whenever a scene involves the ocean.
J. Arthur Rank agreed to provide 70% of the finance if Cornelius could source the rest elsewhere; the director obtained the money from the National Film Finance Corporation. The original choices for the male leads were Guy Middleton and Dirk Bogarde; they turned the film down, and their roles were given to Kenneth More and John Gregson respectively. Dinah Sheridan says that the studio wanted Claire Bloom to play her part. Kenneth More was appearing in the enormously successful production of The Deep Blue Sea when Henry Cornelius approached him to play the part of Ambrose.

In October 2012, Jaglom's film version of Just 45 Minutes From Broadway opened, with Frederick recreating her role of Pandora Isaacs. In 2014, Frederick was chosen to perform in the National Black Theatre Festival for her role on stage as Lula in Amiri Baraka's 'The Dutchman' while concurrently starring in Jaglom's 'Train to Zakopane' at the Edgemar Center for the Arts. Frederick starred in Danny and the Deep Blue Sea directed by Carl Weathers in 2017 which was an LA Critic's Pick.
Tucholke was initially represented by Joanna Volpe of New Leaf Literary, who offered representation within 24 hours of receiving the manuscript for Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. The book sold to Penguin's imprint Dial, who purchased the book in a preemptive deal. Tucholke edited the anthology Slasher Girls & Monster Boys (Penguin, 2015), and her third novel Wink Poppy Midnight was published by Penguin Books in 2016. She contributed to Because You Love to Hate Me, an anthology of short stories written by 13 YA authors who were paired with 13 BookTubers published in July 2017.

Dan Fallshaw (born 7 March 1973 in Sydney) is an Australian filmmaker, producer, editor and cinematographer best known for the highly controversial documentary Stolen (2009), that uncovers slavery in the Sahrawi refugee camps in south-western Algeria and in Western Sahara. Dan Fallshaw has lived in London, Munich and Rome. He has an honors degree in Visual Communications from the University of Technology, Sydney and Saint Martin's College in London. In 2006 Dan began his collaboration with Violeta Ayala on Between the oil and the deep blue sea, a documentary set in Mauritania, about corruption in the oil industry, that follows the investigations of world-renowned mathematician Dr Yahyia Ould Hamidoune against Woodside Petroleum.

The film opens with Bing, a crooner, singing 'In My Hideaway' over the radio and at the conclusion of the song he arranges over the microphone to meet his girl Helen in 15 minutes so that they can elope. Helen's father, who hates crooners, is listening to the radio and with Helen's fiancé and two hired detectives awaits Bing's arrival. When Bing arrives outside Helen's window he gives a pre-arranged whistling signal but Helen's father, dressed in her clothes, climbs down the ladder and seizes Bing while Helen's fiancé and the two detectives appear on the scene to assist. The elopement is stopped therefore but later Bing, after singing 'Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea' telephones Helen from his hotel room.
In 2006 a Ferrari 340 America with chassis number 0202A was discovered that had received both a Chevrolet V8 engine and a Devin fiberglass body at some time around the year 1958. When it was rediscovered by Tom Shaughnessy it became one of the most famous "barn- finds" and was documented in a chapter called "Between the Devin and the deep blue sea" in the book "The Hemi in the Barn". Devin debuted the 250MM at the Sports Car Club of America 3rd Annual Members' Madera race on September 20 where he finished third in the novice event before turning the car over to Phil Hill, who won the main event. The car appeared at a few more events driven either by Devin or his brother Gene before being sold in June 1954.
