ISI Yogyakarta was founded on 23 July 1984, replacing ASRI Arts Academy (founded in 1950), AMI Music Academy (founded in 1952), and ASTI Dance Academy (founded in 1961). It became the largest arts institution in the nation.

Bhate founded the Nrityabharati Kathak Dance Academy at Pune in 1947. Over the last six decades she trained hundred of dancers from her academy. She popularized kathak dance among the middle-class families of Maharashtra.
Vinay Chandra Maudgalya(1918 - 1995) was an Indian classical musician, vocalist and the founder of Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, a music and dance academy for the promotion of Hindustani music and Indian classical dances. Shri Muralidaran began his training at age 7 under Guru Kalaimamani Chamundeeswari. He founded Nrithyakshethra Dance Academy in Chennai, India in 1978 and has since trained over 750 dancers. He serves on the advisory board of Alagappa University's online degree course program.
Vilani started learning ballet when she was five years old. She moved to Russia with her parents at age 9 and started ballroom dancing at age 11, continuing ballet. In 1997, aged 13, she moved to the United States and joined the Kaiser Dance Academy in Brooklyn, New York. In 2001 she was part of the US Ballroom team for the National Dance Congress that won the Amateur Ballroom category.

The song titled 'Dak Li Taf' (What you know), written by Giovan Attard and Dominic Cini. On the 18th of the September the competition was tough, with 22 songs fighting for the win. Sebastian staged his song together with a dancer from A-Line Dance Academy by Alana Bondin.

In 1980, students of Orissa Dance Academy, Dipti Sahoo, Saratpriya Pattajoshi, Pagala Swain, Nandita Patnaik and Aruna Mohanty joined a cultural delegation by ICCR managed by Pattnaik that travelled to Portugal, Spain, Holland and Italy. By this time, students such as Minakshi Behera, Chapala Mishra and Mamata Nayak had started performing. The Academy relocated and became one of the premier cultural institutions of India. It has about 300 students and a 30 dancer performance unit.
Kim Jin-woo was born on September 26, 1991 in Imja-do, Sinan County, South Jeolla. His father has appeared on television multiple times due to his occupation as a captain of a fishing boat. Adriaan Luteijn was born 's Heer Arendskerke, a village in the southwest of the Netherlands, in 1964. He trained as a dancer at Fontys Dance Academy in Tilburg. In 1989 he joined the Introdans Ensemble for Youth when it was created, taking a leading position due to his unusual visual appearance and his expressive dance techniques. He retired from dancing in 1998 at the age of 35 and began working as choreographer and teacher.

Nenshi's council granted $5.5 million to build the 200-seat "Decidedly Jazz Danceworks Dance Centre" in the Belt Line neighbourhood. The new facility will address the expansion requirements of the Decidedly Jazz dance academy. The council decided that the facility would address the need to provide a permanent venue for the distinguished academy that served Calgary for many years. According to Nenshi, the facility will also help to fill the need in Calgary for more performing arts venues.

Umeh was born in Anambra State, Nigeria, but grew up in Lagos from the age of five. In 1992, she gained national visibility as an actress in the Nigerian Television Authority children's drama Tales by Moonlight. From 1994 to 1998, Umeh studied traditional and contemporary African dance, on full scholarship, at Ivory Dance Academy, founded by National Troupe of Nigeria member Steve James.

At the age of 17, Jamison graduated from Judimar and began her collegiate studies at Fisk University. In addition to her technique classes, she took courses in Labanotation, kinesiology, and other dance studies. One of the most sought- after oboe pedagogues of our day, Ms. Strommen held positions as Professor of Oboe at Louisiana State University and Wichita State University; Oboe Instructor at Mannes College of Music, the Juilliard Pre-College, State University of New York at Purchase, University of Hawaii, and adjunct faculty at Yale University. For many years Ms. Strommen has been teaching on the summer faculties of Le Domain Forget Music and Dance Academy and the John Mack Oboe Camp.
Ainsley Melham was born in Australia on 2 December 1991, and raised in Bathurst with his sister Nadia. He graduated from Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), graduating in 2012. He was also educated at the NIDA Open Program, the Australasian Tap Dance Academy and La Belle School of Dance. At WAAPA, Melham performed in a range of musicals, including Ragtime, Violet, Crazy For You, A Chorus Line, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, and Into The Woods.

Bommer began her career as an educator, opening her first dance studio, Ketzev Hagoof, in 1990. Ketzev Hagoof still teaches dance to children throughout Israel, offering classes at their original location and multiple branches throughout the country. In 1994, Bommer shifted her focus, opening another school called the Nadine Bommer Dance Academy. This school of contemporary dance focuses on preparing students for professional careers in dance and classes are based in Bommer's technique the Nadine Bommer Method (see technique section).
Nadine Bommer Dance Academy is currently the flagship location offering this technique to aspiring professional dancers. In 1997 Bommer established her dance company, beginning performances of work inspired by the early stages of her method. As she continued to make work, Bommer codified her technique, working through stages focused on classical technique (Nevet), improvisation (Kinetica), and characterization (Animato). The final stage of the method, Animato, was completed in 2006, leading to a new phase of the company centered in comedic narrative dance works.
Despite several warnings from Gopi to not let any personal feelings get in the way of the mission, Tiger falls in love with Zoya. Durant is from Sydney, Australia. She began seriously dancing at age 15 while a student at Loreto Kirribilli. Durant appeared on and was a Top 20 finalist on the third season of So You Think You Can Dance Australia. Following her elimination from So You Think You Can Dance Australia, she went to open auditions for the teen drama series Dance Academy and was cast in the role of troublemaker Grace Whitney for the show's second season, a role she continued playing into the series' third season.

She wrote and directed the documentary My Biggest Fan, about her correspondence and friendship with an American great-grandmother, Mildred Levine, who wrote to her after seeing Strictly Ballroom. The film premiered at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival, and was broadcast on the SBS network in Australia in 2008.
The band's first single, "Black Dollar Bills", was packaged in a hessian sleeve, each hand-sewn by a band member. The band's most extensive UK tour started in October 2004, beginning with a date in Belfast's Mandela Hall, including an appearance at the Dance Academy in Plymouth. Much of 2005 was spent recording the follow-up to The Lost Riots, and the band only made six live appearances. The band performed some songs to be included on their second album at an acoustic performance in London.

The first ballet performance was by Shanghai Dance Academy, Shanghai in 1965. It has also been performed by the noted soprano Guo Lanying. The opera is based on legends circulating in the border region of Shanxi, Chahar and Hebei, describing the misery suffered by local peasantry, particularly the misery of the female members. The stories are based on real-life stories of no less than half a dozen women, in a time frame stretching from the late Qing Dynasty to the 1920s or 1930s.
Candee Jay has released one album, Electrifying, in the UK, but it failed to make the chart there. Candee Jay made a moderate impression in the United States with "If I Were You" and "Back For Me." Both singles sold well, and featured on the Hot Dance Singles Sales chart. However, Electrifying failed to appear on all Stateside music charts, including the Top Electronic Albums list. Before her career as Candee Jay, Lankhaar was a professional model and successfully graduated from Lucia Marthas Dance Academy.

In 1949 she was named deputy director of the Central Song and Dance Ensemble, and in 1954 she became the principal of the new Beijing Dance Academy. She also served as director and adviser to the Central Ballet of China, and was the vice-chairman of the Chinese Dancers' Association. This period also saw the broadening of her artistic path. In the early 1950s, she became involved in the first ballet to be created in China: Dove of Peace, and was its leading performer in the piece.
Guangzhou Ballet was founded in 1974 by Zhang Dandan, a former dancer with the National Ballet of China. The current company has many members who are graduates from the Beijing Dance Academy. Members of the company are trained in the Vaganova method, following the tradition of Russian ballet introduced to China following the Communist Revolution. Ashleigh Ross aka Ashi Ross is an Australian actress, dancer and model. Ross was born and raised in Sydney, Australia. Although she mainly spent her time in dance, she loved to model and act and at age five she landed a two-page spread in Parents (magazine) Australia. At age nine, Ashleigh was cast as "May" in ABC mini series My Place (TV series) at age ten she appeared as "Okinawa" in Spirited (series 1) and then the role most recognised for "Scout" in Dance Academy (Episodes).
The music was strictly for dancing, and included mostly the simpler one and two step dances with quite a few foxtrots along with both "cowboy" and "Mexican" waltzes. Cain's Dance Academy opened in 1930 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. People danced to "hot hillbilly music" or "hot string-band music". Bob Wills and Texas Play Boys played Western Swing nightly from 1934 until 1943. Crowds at Cain's Ballroom were as large as 6,000 people. Coopes's first play, Art House was produced by award-winning Tangram Theatre Company in July and August 2009, previewing in London at the Old Red Lion Theatre and then Zoo Venue at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. McGinnis took dance classes at the Knecht Dance Academy in Levittown, Pennsylvania, for which he won numerous national Dance titles. He was Dance Masters of America's Petite Master Dance of America in 2006. After appearing in several commercials, small roles on the Nickelodeon sitcoms iCarly and Victorious, and starring in an episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, McGinnis was cast in a recurring role as Austin Marley, Justin's love interest, in the fourth season of Ugly Betty, appearing in the final five episodes of the show. He appears in the 2012 film Gayby.
The company also runs a program sponsored by the NEA which enables public school student to attend productions, not only by the BEDS but also Ballet Austin and Tapestry Dance Company, for free. These field trips also provide students with the opportunity to meet and talk with performers and choreographers. BEDC also runs a dance academy, the BEDC Arts Academy, where company choreographers and dancers provide classes to the public. The school also occasionally brings in professional artists from outside of Austin to teach masterclasses both to the BEDC company members and Academy students.
The village hall now houses a thriving dance academy with junior and adult classes being held on Saturdays and every weekday. Tonwell Water Tower The village shop and post office was closed down by the owners in the 1980s and converted into a restaurant room for the pub, which they are hoping to redevelop as housing along with 3 houses in the pub car park and conversion to flats of the B & B accommodation. Winwin has lived away from his family since 2009, when he moved from Wenzhou to Beijing in order to attend Beijing Dance Academy for six years. In 2015, he moved to Seoul, where he became a trainee at South Korea's largest entertainment company, SM Entertainment. Winwin has said that since his primary school graduation, he's only been able to visit his family in Wenzhou for about a few days each year. He also has an older sister who has been living in New Zealand for a long time.

The building that the MRT eventually acquired on Guy Street, had in the 1870s been the West-End School, and later served as a home for Protestant infants and as a dance academy. When the MRT took over the building it made many changes and constructed a little theatre with about 200 seats. Kongbrailatpam Ibomcha Sharma, popularly known as Abhiram Shaba, is an Indian singer and performer from Manipur, who is known for Sankirtan singing (Nata Sankirtana) of Raseshwari Pala, a part of the traditional Manipuri dance. His role as Abhiram Shaba in the Manipuri show, Goura Lilas is reported to have earned him the nickname. He is a former Guru at the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy and a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1981. He was awarded the fourth highest civilian award of the Padma Shri by the Government of India, in 1998.

Cain's Ballroom is a historic music venue in Tulsa, Oklahoma that was built in 1924 as a garage for W. Tate Brady's automobiles. Madison W. "Daddy" Cain purchased the building in 1930 and named it Cain's Dance Academy, where he charged ten cents for dance lessons. The academy was the site of The Texas Playboys' first regular radio broadcast, and they continued to play there regularly. It fell into disuse until 1976 when Larry Schaeffer purchased the building, refurbished it, and reopened it with the name Cain's Ballroom.

Bharati Shivaji is an Indian classical dancer of Mohiniyattom, choreographer and author, known for her contributions to the art form by way of performance, research and propagation. She is the founder of Center for Mohiniyattam, a dance academy promoting Mohiniyattom and the co-author of two books, Art of Mohiniyattom and Mohiniyattom. She is a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and Sahitya Kala Parishad Samman. The Government of India awarded her the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2004, for her contributions to Indian classical dance.
On 26 October 2011, it was announced that Matchbox Pictures and producers of The Slap were developing a thirteen-part youth-oriented drama series for the ABC called The Lost Boys. However, due to copyright reasons, the show's name was later changed to Nowhere Boys. The series creator Tony Ayres conceived the idea for Nowhere Boys after learning that the ABC, which had already enjoyed success with Dance Academy, was looking for a new series that would appeal to boys. Ayres developed Nowhere Boys with a range of writers, including Roger Monk and Craig Irvin.

Thouranisabi Devi is associated with Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy and has directed one of its ballet productions, Radha Sati. She taught at the academy for several years as Guru Rasdhari, Guruhan and Pradhan Guru till her retirement in 2006. She is also credited with two books, Diva Ras (2 volumes-1993) and Ras Makha Amsung Nungi Masahk (2006), both based on Manipuri dance and has recorded six albums for HMV. Devi is a recipient of the Royal Robe from Maharaja Okendrajit Singh and a gold medal from the Government of Manipur.
On 23 June 2017, German-Romanian actress Maria- Victoria Dragus had also joined the cast to play Scottish noblewoman and childhood friend of Stuart, Mary Fleming, marking her English-language debut in film, having a minor role previously in Australian teen drama Dance Academy. Because of the inclusion of performer William Wingfield into the top 20 dancers, Debbie Allen was ruled ineligible to perform duties as a Guest Judge during the Finals phase, as long as Wingfield remained in the competition. Wingfield is a Contemporary dancer from Nashville, Tennessee who trained under Allen at the Debbie Allen Dance Academy. He was voted off the competition on July 24, 2008. Because of Wingfield being eliminated, Debbie Allen was technically able to guest judge for the top six episode, but Adam Shankman was the guest judge instead.

Zvika started his career at Delta Psychiatric Centre, Rotterdam, The Netherlands, one of the largest psychiatric hospitals in the Netherlands, where he was a teacher for 27 years. In 2006, Zvika Frank co-operated with Chinese psychological institutions for the first time to open a dance therapy workshop in the Mainland China, which has drawn great attention from the industry.
Li Cunxin is born into a poor family commune in a small rural village in Shandong Province, where he is destined to work in the fields as a labourer. The new wave of artists deliberately created music that would suit samba-rock dances. Ferrero mustered out of the army on August 24, 1865, and returned home to New York City. He chose not to reopen his previous dance academy, but instead leased a building in a new location, eventually turning it into a world-famed ballroom known as Apollo Hall, 31 West 28th Street at Broadway. In 1872, he terminated his lease and the building was converted into a theater. Rajkumar Achouba Singh (born 5 December 1938) is an Indian classical dancer and teacher, known for his scholarship on the Manipuri dance forms of Raas and Lai Haraoba. Singh, who is credited several books and articles on Manipuri culture, is a former Principal of the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal. A holder of post graduate degrees in Raas and Lai Haraoba, he has also been a visiting teacher at the Government Dance College, Imphal. He was honored by the Government of India, in 2010, with the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri.

On December 2, 2018, Usher performed at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in Johannesburg, South Africa, celebrating the legacy of Nelson Mandela. Usher and DJ Black Coffee performed a mash-up featuring the South African Indigenous Dance Academy (IDA).Usher at the Kennedy Center in 2019 Usher had a cameo in the crime film Hustlers, which was released on September 13, 2019, and stars Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, Keke Palmer, Cardi B, and Lili Reinhart.
Allen later began working as director and producer, most notably producing and directing 83 of 144 episodes of NBC comedy series A Different World (1988-1993). She returned to acting playing the leading role in the NBC sitcom In the House from 1995 to 1996, and in 2011 began playing Dr. Catherine Avery in the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy also served as an executive producer/director. She has directed more than 50 television and film productions. In 2001, Allen opened the Debbie Allen Dance Academy in Los Angeles, where she currently teaches young dancers.
DePreist was born in Philadelphia in 1936. He was the nephew of contralto Marian Anderson. DePreist studied composition with Vincent Persichetti at the Philadelphia Conservatory while earning a bachelor's degree at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a master's degree from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania in 1958. On the side, he played percussion in a jazz Quintet, which performed on “The Tonight Show” with Steve Allen in 1956, and did enough composing to win a commission from the Philadelphia Dance Academy.
Scott was born in the New York City borough of Queens in 1970 and grew up in several locations including the Florida Keys and Ocean City, Maryland. She is named after her father, Robert LaMorte. After being inspired by the 1983 movie Flashdance, she began dancing and taking after-school lessons in jazz dance, ballet, and tap dance. She attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts as a dance major during the school's first year of operation, and then received a full scholarship to the Dupree Dance Academy in Hollywood.
Christopher Flinder Petersen (born October 29, 1987), is a Norwegian dancer, model and former member of the boyband L8R. At 13 he finished sixth in the world championships in freestyle dancing and two years later he became a member of the band L8R. The group split up in July 2004 when he chose to leave the group after getting into a prominent dance academy in Oslo. In 2006 Petersen was a contestant on the Norwegian version of "So You Think You Can Dance" (Dansefeber), receiving much praise for his charisma and technique.

Ifeachor attended The Raleigh School of Speech and Drama under the tutorship of Norma Blake and the Deborah Bond Dance academy, where she enjoyed the ISTD syllabus in tap, ballet, modern and jazz. After completing her A-levels, Ifeachor used her gap year to audition for London drama schools and gained a scholarship to the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama in London.
Rachel Sherak is a ballerina dancing with Morphoses/The Wheeldon Company and formerly with the Carolina Ballet. She began studying dance at the North Atlanta Dance Academy followed by the School of American Ballet. At SAB, she performed in New York City Ballet's productions of Coppelia and Susan Stroman's Double Feature and originated a principal role the James Sewall's 2006 ballet for the New York Choreographic Institute. Ms. Sherak was featured in Yip Deceiver's 2012 music video for their single "Get Strict", performing as the disco ball headed ballerina.
Following the suspension of Bom's contract due to her 2014 drug scandal, other members began exploring independent ventures, sending the group effectively into hiatus. Dara re-established her acting career by starring in web dramas such as Dr.Ian and We Broke Up, as well as KBS's Missing You. Minzy opened the Millennium Dance Academy. CL embarked a solo career in the United States with the release of "Hello Bitches" from her upcoming EP Lifted. The group's only activity in 2015 was a surprise performance at the 2015 Mnet Asian Music Awards in Hong Kong.
There, she was disciplined by Galina Ulanova but received further mentorship from Marina Semyonova. She participated in a ballet for two generations playing characters such as Aegina in Spartacus, and many others. The WSPU as part of their campaign of civil disobedience had decided that if women "didn't count, then they were not going to be counted". Ainsworth hired a room used by a dance academy in Jazreel's Hall (the religious folly known as Jezreel's Tower in Gillingham). Ainsworth was boarding locally with a WSPU supporter.

Over the years, only Odissi gurukul has been functional due to paucity of funds. Classical dancers are relaxing at Nrityagram garden. Buildings in the Nrityagram Surupa Sen who first came as a student, debuted in 1995, later became artistic director of Nrityagram in 1997, and remains to date. Orissa Dance Academy (ODA) student Bijayini Satpathy who was first student of Nrityagram, is now in charge of the Odissi gurukul. Some of Nrityagram's few but meritorious students include, Pavithra Reddy, who has had her solo debut in 2003 and who will be hopefully seen in some solo pieces on a wider platform very soon.
Workman's second album was released in 2001 through Isadora Records/Universal Music Canada. The album, titled (Last Night We Were) The Delicious Wolves, became Workman's breakthrough record both in Canada and Europe, spawning the singles "Striptease" and "Jealous of Your Cigarette". His record company press kit for The Delicious Wolves included such fanciful biographical details as sailing through the air on a kite, and learning music while working as a janitor at a tap dance academy. At the end of 2001, he also released an EP of self-penned Christmas-themed songs, Almost a Full Moon.

Some of their popular theatrical productions include Dance Spectacular (1994), Firedance (1997), Era (1998), Tango (1998), Minestrone (1999), Phantom (2000), Dirty Dancing (2001), C.H.O.G.M (2005), 25 Filigree (2009) and their most recent successful dance show Michael Jackson Forever (2011). Yada has performed in many countries, including Denmark, Cyprus, Spain, Germany, Portugal, UK, Italy, India, Switzerland, Dubai, Tunisia, France, Libya and Turkey.
With the help of a mysterious teacher (who would be played by Xuxa), the class would be eligible for a sports competition, whose prize money would save the college from debt. The film was scheduled for 1997 and much of the cast had already been defined as the participation of ex-paquitos Marcelo Faustini and Cláudio Heinrich. After difficulties due to the cost, the film curiously suffered modifications in its plot, mainly with the entrance of the actor Evandro Mesquita in the script. The story was told in a dance academy, but its title had been kept.

In 2001, she appeared in her first Music Video, 2002 performed alongside Trevor Nelson and shortly after moving to London in 2004, backing danced behind Jason Donavon in 2005. She then completed her teacher training at the National Dance Academy in London and went on to compete in beauty pageants placing as a finalist in Miss Derby 2005, Miss Galaxay 2005 and placing in the top 7 at Miss Great Britain 2006. Jatin Goswami is an Indian dancer and choreographer, known as one of the prominent exponents of the classical dance form of Sattriya. He is the founder director of Sattriya Akademi, Guwahati, a sitting member of its Advisory Committee, and a former member of the General Council of the Sangeet Natak Akademi. He is also the founder of Alok Shilpi Sangha, a dance academy and Pragjyoti Kala Parishad, a cultural organization, and is a recipient of the 2004 Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. The Government of India awarded him the fourth highest civilian honour of the Padma Shri, in 2008, for his contributions to Sattriya dance.
Silvano Shueg Hechevarría was born on January 6, 1900, in Santiago de Cuba, the capital of Oriente, Cuba's easternmost region. In 1919 Shueg became the timbalero in a son estudiantina (student ensemble) from Santiago called Los Champions del Son. In 1927, the band toured Havana and Shueg decided to stay in the city, where he joined the Marte y Belona dance academy. He then began performing at the numerous nightclubs and cabarets along the beach in Marianao, such as Los Tres Hermanos, El Ranchito, Rumba Palace (which was renamed La Choricera in his honor), and La Taberna de Pedro, where he played for over a decade.

Later in her life she grew very ill from an unspecified disease, and on the way to visit her at the hospital, her brother died in a car accident; as such, she blames herself for his death. In the 1990s, he opened a successful dance school in Germany called the 'Captain Hollywood Dance Academy' and later developed a unique style of choreography for his live act called the Crew Lock, a mixture of military style movements and locking. Artists such as DJ Bobo, Haddaway and several others have collaborated with Harrison extensively when planning, staging and choreographing a number of their live shows. By the year 2000, Harrison transitioned into working behind the scenes as a choreographer, manager and producer of boy bands in the United States and Canada. He has worked with the bands O-Town, 3rd Wish, B4-4 and Prymary Colorz.

The dancer and the dance teacher Ursula Cain began her dance education at the age of 12 years in the preparatory class of the Mary Wigman Schule for modern dance. She studied from 1942 until the close-down because of the Second World War at the Dance-Academy of the Conservatoire of the state capital Dresden. After her graduation and status as stage-dancer and dance-teacher Ursula Cain became a member of the Dore Hoyer-group in 1945. She danced until the closing of the group in Tänze für Käthe Kollwitz (Dances for Käthe Kollwitz), Lied der Zeit (Song of time) and Schießbude (Shooting Gallery).

Texas Tommy was described as the most prominent dance of the time, and it later spread across the country. As police harassment escalated on Pacific Street during the late 1910s, the Thalia was the most stubborn club for them to shut. In 1915 when a liquor ban eventually was enforced in all dance halls, the Thalia preserved their business as a dance hall by declaring that they had become a dance academy that enabled customers to pay by the dance. With that business model, the Thalia then became one of the earliest dance halls to offer taxi dancing without alcohol being served on the premises.

The Union Block a 2-story, brick and sandstone commercial building with 126-ft frontage on Idaho St and 120-ft depth between Idaho and Bannock Sts, constructed by contractors Walker & Jensen in 1901. The building includes space for five storefronts, and the second floor was designed for 21 offices and for a 55-ft by 120-ft meeting room and music hall. Original commercial tenants of the building included the O.K. Grocery Co., Beal Furniture, Regan Mercantile Co., and Idaho Hardware & Plumbing Company which expanded into the Union Block from their adjoining building. The music hall was leased by Professor Christensen's Dance Academy.
During his childhood, Swain worked with the Alabama Dance Academy, Alabama Ballet, Red Mountain Theatre Company, Birmingham Children's Theatre and Virginia Samford Theatre. The first instance of the ticket-a-dance system in Chicago came from a description, given by Godfrey Johnson of Mader-Johnson Dance Studios: Other dance schools began to try the ticket-a-dance system as well. As a former proprietor of the Colonial Dancing Academy in Chicago states: Many dance academy proprietors, who were disturbed by the "hoodlum element" that the ticket-a-dance system attracted, were very reluctant to adopt the dance tickets.
Persia Blue (born Persia Blue Victoria Toll) is an Australian actress of both screen and stage. Blue graduated in performing arts from Ensemble Studios, Australia, where she performed in ten theatre productions over three years. Blue also studied Practical Aesthetics (PA) at Atlantic Acting School, New York City in 2010. After attaining his Ph.D, Bandem returned to Indonesia from the US and was appointed as the Chancellor of the Indonesia Dance Academy (ASTI) Denpasar by the Ministry of Education and Culture (1982). Since then, Bandem exerted great effort to amplify the institution's status to become Indonesian Arts College (STSI) Denpasar and now Indonesia Institute of Arts. The efforts to increase the status of the institution to a higher level is not only a matter of political administration, but more a struggle to advocate arts as science, to equally position art in contrast to other field of studies. This struggle becomes imperative as the majority of Indonesia still view art as a profession (vocation), not a substantial field of study.
Born in Münster, (Germany), Ute Gertrude Lemper was raised in a Roman Catholic family. She joined the jazz-rock music group known as the Panama Drive Band at the age of 16. Later, she graduated from the Dance Academy in Cologne and the Max Reinhardt Seminary Drama School in Vienna. Her diverse credits include musicals, such as her breakthrough role in the original Viennese cast of Cats, the title role in Peter Pan, a recreation of the Marlene Dietrich-created Lola in The Blue Angel, the original European Sally Bowles in a Paris production of Cabaret, and Velma Kelly in Chicago (Lemper has played the role of Velma Kelly in Chicago in both London and New York.
Manoucehr Bahmanzadeh acquired the building in 1997 and renamed it "The Dance Academy". It soon became one of the top dance venues in the UK attracting top D.J.s such as Ferry Corsten, Judge Jules, Lisa Lashes, Dave Pearce, Gilles Peterson, Carl Cox and Sasha. The club could accommodate 1,300 dancers in two rooms and had seven bars and "gained a heady reputation" as a top trance and hard house club under resident D.J., Tom Costelloe. By 2005, the club claimed that it had in excess of 20,000 members. In 1998, Bahmanzadeh entered a short partnership with the team behind “Scream” and established "Eyecon", a weekly hard house and trance night from 10.30 p.m.
In May 2006, a five-month-long police operation showed that ecstasy, a Class A drug, was being used and dealt in the Dance Academy, and it closed as a result, with Bahmanzadeh, Costelloe and two other people being charged with permitting the supply of Class A drugs. Following the closure, protests were held outside the building by clubbers opposed to the closure. In July 2008, Bahmanzadeh and Costelloe were found guilty of allowing the sale of a class A drug and were sentenced to jail terms of nine years and five years respectively. 16 drug dealers had also been arrested following the raid in May 2006 and had been sentenced to a total of 27 years in jail.

Darnal, amid his schooling in India, started working at a recording company in Kolkata, where he was acquainted with fellow Nepalese musicians and singers, including Dharmaraj Thapa, Nati Kaji, Shiva Shankar Manandhar and Tara Devi. In 1958, Darnal brought to Nepal the mandolin and the guitar, and is considered to be the first person to introduce such western instruments in the country. Expanding his career contacts landed him a job at the Nepal Academy in 1959 as a mandolinist. Five years later, he was appointed as the secretary of the Nepal Music and Dance Academy as a part of a three-year plan brought about by the-then King Mahendra of Nepal.

2011 marked Robinson's television writing debut, contributing three songs to Series 2 of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation TV series Dance Academy. The same year Neil Gooding Productions produced Robinson's musical revue Sing On Through Tomorrow, with Robinson featuring on the Original Cast Recording available on iTunes. During Pippin, Robinson contacted composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz, leading to a mentorship that continues today. Since 2010, Robinson has travelled to New York City once a year conducting readings of his current musicals in development Happy People and Atlantis which have been attended by Schwartz and representatives from a number of Broadway producing houses including Disney Theatrical Group, Manhattan Theatre Club, Araca, 321 Theatrical Management and Ambassador Theatre Group.

Suspiria () is a 1977 Italian supernatural horror film directed by Dario Argento, who co-wrote the screenplay with Daria Nicolodi, partially based on Thomas De Quincey's 1845 essay Suspiria de Profundis. Under the aegis of the academy, she has contributed to the participation of the students at various dance and cultural festivals, including the festival of ICCR in countries including USSR, Mauritius, Ghana, Nigeria, Morocco, Ivory Coast, Trinidad Tobago, USA, Venezuela, UAE, Oman, Doha 2010, the Capital of Arab Culture, held at Qatar National Theater in September 2010. She made efforts to revive the Rajwadi tradition of Ghoomar dance and in popularizing Chari Dance of Kishangarh.
Though the Sangeet Natak Akademi functions as an autonomous organization of the Ministry of Culture, its programmes are completely funded by the Government. The Sangeet Natak Akademi is defined as "the apex body of the performing arts" in the country and primarily focuses on "preserving and promoting the vast intangible heritage of India's diverse culture expressed in the forms of music, dance and drama". Sougaijam Thanil Singh is an Indian classical dancer, known for his proficiency in the classical dance forms of Manipuri and Nata Sankirtana. Born to S. Ksher Singh, a Manipuri dancer, in the Northeast Indian state of Manipur, he received his early training from his father as well as Guru Tombi Sharma, Guru Bhaigchandra Singh and Guru Koireng Singh. Later, he studied Manipuri dance and Nata Sankirtana, under Maisnam Amubi Singh, renowned dancer and Padma Shri awardee, at the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy, Imphal, securing a diploma and a post graduate diploma, respectively, in the disciplines. Joining his alma mater as a member of faculty, he rose in ranks to become the Pradhan Guru and superannuated as the director of the institution.
Thingbaijam Babu Singh was an Indian classical dancer, academic and choreographer of the Indian classical dance form of Manipuri. He was the Pradhan Guru (chief instructor) of Pung and Raas traditions of Manipuri dance at the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy of the Sangeet Natak Akademi. Born on 8 February 1936 at Lairensajik, a small village in the state of Manipur, he was known to have been one of the notable choreographers and teachers of Manipuri dance and had a long line of renowned performers such as Elam Endira Devi, Ibemubi Devi, and Priti Patel, as his students. Singh was the author of a book, Meitei Punglon Raga Ahouba, and was a recipient of the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award for the year 1990.
One day, in a local competition, the footfall of Radhika and her team dips, while it aggressively increases for a team owned by Rægo, a dance trainer who practices Bollywood. Devi continued her work at the JNM Dance Academy where she rose in ranks to become the Head of the Department of Folk and Community Dance in 1966 and held the post of the vice principal of the Academy at the time of her retirement in 1985. Devi, during her active years, has participated in various national and international occasions and festivals such as the Republic Day Folk Dance Festival, National Dance Festival and Inter State Cultural Exchange Programs. Ngambi Devi married Haobam Amuba Singh in 1941 and the couple had a son.
In 2001, Allen founded the Debbie Allen Dance Academy, a 501(c)3 non profit organization. Since 2007, Allen was participated as a judge and mentor for the U.S. version of So You Think You Can Dance. In 1989 he discovered a passion for modern dance and moved to Guangzhou to study at China's first modern dance education institution, the Guangzhou Modern Dance Academy. During his two years at the academy he was taught by master teachers such as Ross Parks and David Hochoy from the Martha Graham Dance Company, Betty Jones and Fritz Ludin from the Jose Limon Dance Company, Claudia Gitelman from Alwin Nikolais Dance Company, and Liz Walton from the Paul Taylor Dance Company. In 1991, Shen Wei became one of the founding members of the China's first modern dance company, the Guangdong Modern Dance Company, choreographing and dancing with the company until 1994.
"Let There Be Peace on Earth" is a song written by Jill Jackson-Miller and Sy Miller in 1955. It was initially written for and sung by the International Children's Choir created by Easter Beakly and Arthur Granger of the Granger Dance Academy in Long Beach, California. Jatin Goswami was born on 2 August 1933 to Dharanidhar Dev Goswami and Chandraprova Devi at Adhar Sattra, a village near Dergaon in Golaghat district, in the Northeast Indian state of Assam. His early training in Sattriya was under his father but later, he trained under Gopiram Bayan and Babula Bayan, two known Sattriya masters, as well as Bishnuprasad Rabha, Dutta Muktiyar and Raseswar Saikia Barbayan at different points of time. In 1953, he established his own dance academy, Alok Shilpi Sangha, at his native place, but continued his dance training, learning Kathak from Ganesh Hiralal and Manipuri dance from Atomba Singh. Turning his focus back to Sattriya, he founded Pragjyoti Kala Parishad, a cultural organization for promoting dance, in 1962, along with Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha and Roxeswar Saikia Barbayan.
This was followed by more work with the dance academy as well as the 1971 film Mictlán by Raúl Kamffer and the 1972 performances of the K.P.H. Ballet of Rossana Filomarino in Mexico and Italy. In 1977, he also did this work for the Ballet Trío of Alejandro Meza and the Royal Ballet Dens Norske Opera from Oslo. Meza's first recognition for his work was the Shering-Kahlbaum House Award in Berlin for the plot and drawings he created for a film in 1940. In 1949, he won second place at a competition sponsored by the Excélsior newspaper called la ciudad de México interpretada por sus pintores. In 1953 and 1954 he won first place at “winter salon” competitions with the Salón de la Plástica Mexicana, which granted him membership.
Some of the dancers moved on to acting careers, including Dickey (Ninja III: The Domination, Breakin' ) and the late Tony Fields in the 1986 horror movie Trick or Treat (as dead rock icon Sammi Curr) and in the 1988 movie musical "Dance Academy" along with Steve La Chance. Another example is Chelsea Field, whose movie credits include Commando (as an airline stewardess), Masters of the Universe (she was Teela), and The Last Boy Scout (as Bruce Willis's philandering ex-wife). Darcel appeared on the show from 1980 to 1984, but she took most of the 1984–85 season off to work with a traveling ministry and Jamilah Lucas was appointed principal dancer. Darcel rejoined the roster for the 1985–86 season, reclaiming her position from Jamilah, who remained in the regular lineup.
Moving to New Delhi, Shivaji founded the dance academy, Center for Mohiniyattom, a dedicated facility for promoting the dance form. She is known to have contributed to the evolution of the dance tradition, by adding more languor to the already languorous discipline, and by adapting it to other dance forms such as ballet; her Mohiniyattom adaptation of the Swan Lake of Tchaikovsky, choreographed along with her daughter, Vijayalakshmi, is one such effort. She is known to have incorporated postures, movements and music from other Traditional art forms of Kerala such as Ottamthullal, Kaikottikali, Thayambaka and Krishnanattam into Mohiniyattom, a legacy from her tutelage under Kavalam Narayana Panicker.
New programs commissioned by the ABC and supported by the ACTF from 2009 include My Place 1 & 2, three series of Dance Academy, several series of Nowhere Boys, three series of Bushwhacked, Worst Year of My Life, Again, Ready For This and Little Lunch. The history of Australian children's television and the ACTF are inextricably linked, with the ACTF playing a pivotal role in supporting distinctively Australian programs, and advocating for the support mechanisms required to produce those programs. The ACTF has had a singular focus on achieving quality outcomes for child audiences, and its involvement in every stage of development, production and distribution of children's television since 1982 has made possible a slate of enduring quality children's television series that generations of Australian children are growing up with.
The Dance Academy Two Hearts, where Nena (Xuxa Meneghel) studied, is in danger. The terrible Macedonian (Elke Maravilha), an inveterate smoker, bandit and businessman with the facade of a businesswoman, intends to take advantage of the Academy's bad financial situation to take over its facilities. But there is hope: the Requebra 2000 contest, the Millennium dance tournament, which takes place in Rio de Janeiro, and has a sponsor willing to give a large prize money that would solve the problem of the Academy. To win the tournament, the group has the indispensable help of Nena, a former student of the Academy and now a journalist of the famous daily Hora X. But Macedon is responsible for his stepson Felipe (Daniel), to hire professional dancers to beat them ruthlessly.
Dance Academy is narrated mainly from the perspective of Tara Webster (Xenia Goodwin), a newly-accepted first year student at the National Academy of Dance in Sydney, which also doubles as a Year 10–12 high school for the dancers. She studied modelling for 7 years and graduated from Ashika D’ Modeling Agency (Durban) in 1997. In 1996 Shahrina was awarded with a dance scholarship to travel with “Bombay Beats” to the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States.
Gambhini Devi was born on the New Year day of 1945 at Yaiskul Hiruhanba Leikai in the Northeast Indian state of Manipur to Y. Gulap Singh, a Nata Sankirtana performer, as the fourth of his eight children. She started learning music and dance at the age of 5 and , later, joined the Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) from where she secured a post graduate diploma in Raas. At the Academy, she received training from such notable gurus such as Amudon Sharma, Maisnam Amubi Singh, Khaidem Lokeshor Singh, Kshetritombi Devi, Ngangom Jogendra Singh and Ibopishak Sharma, in Manipuri dance and from Nongmaithem Tomba Singh, Khanda Moina Dan, Ngangom Jogendra Singh and Thokchom Gopal Singh in music (Monoharsai Kirtan). Her debut performance was when she was 7 years old and has performed on various stages in India and abroad since then.
After dance performances at the St. Louis Municipal Opera and the Kansas City Starlight Theater, Williams decided to pursue a professional dancing career and moved to New York City after auditioning and winning a dance scholarship to the Alvin Ailey Dance Academy. Shortly thereafter, she made her New York debut as a dancer in an off-Broadway production of "Take It from the Top," which was written, produced and directed by legendary actors Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. In 1980 she landed a featured dancing role in the Broadway revival of "West Side Story," and danced on her birth date of February 4 at the White House for the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter. Later that year she won a role in the feature film, The Fan, starring Lauren Bacall and James Garner.
The building also houses an Irish dance academy. In 2019, the Cleveland Public Library appointed an architectural team to renovate and build an addition on the system’s West Park Branch Library, as part of a 10-year, $100 million plan to update 27 branches throughout the city. The project, funded by a tax increase in 2017, which won by a near 70% margin, should be completed by 2029 when the system will invest an additional $65 million into renovations of the Main Library in downtown Cleveland. The neighborhood has been the site for the “Hooley,” an outdoor, family-oriented party that features Irish dance, music, food and drink. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2019, the Hooley (Irish for a “lively gathering”) is traditionally opened either by the Cleveland Police Pipe and Drums or the Cleveland Firefighters Memorial Pipe and Drums.
In the 1950s, Hammond gained his Advanced Teachers Diploma from the Royal Academy of Dance and in 1953, founded the Paul Hammond Ballet School in Melbourne. Under the management and direction of Hammond, the Paul Hammond Ballet School soon established itself as a leading dance academy, and between 1953 and 1976, produced and trained successful dancers such as Don Asker, Dale Baker, Walter Bourke, Roma Egan, Michaela Kirkaldie, John O’Brien, Gailene Stock, Robert Ray, and Margaret Wilson among numerous others. Following their stage career, many of these dancers went on to become professional teachers, examiners and choreographers in Australian and abroad. For example, Gailene Stock is currently Director of the Royal Ballet School in London; Dale Baker, Michaela Kirkaldie, and Margaret Wilson are resident teachers at the Australian Ballet School; while Tina Stuart is an international examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance.
Born in Oakland, California, Iconika (born Elijah Finister), is the daughter of a half-Portuguese, half-black mother and was raised in her hometown of Oakland up until the age of 5, when she moved to Los Angeles with her mother. As a child, Iconika's upbringing was very reserved and traditional, she attended a small private Christian school where her grandfather was pastor and her grandmother a local English teacher, as well as attending ballet classes at Hawthorn Dance Academy until a late age. Ananda Shankar, born in a Tamil Brahmin family from Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu to G. S.
