Edwards is a member of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots, Association of Naval Aviation, and the U.S. Naval Institute. He has received the Defense Superior Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Medal, Daedalian Superior Airmanship Award 1992, Fighter Squadron 143 Fighter Pilot of the Year, 1984, 1985, Fighter Squadron 142 Fighter Pilot of the Year, 1990, 1991, 1992. Carrier Air Wing 7 Pilot of the Year, 1985, 1990, 1991.

The 74 TFS returned to England on 28 December 1973. The 23 TFW took part in a variety of operational exercises both in the United States and overseas, including tactical bombing competitions against the Royal Air Force at RAF Lossiemouth, Scotland, during October 1977 and July 1978. In both events, A-7D teams captured the Sir John Mogg Team Trophy. On 23 September 1980, the 74 TFS received the 23 TFW's first operational Fairchild Republic A-10 Thunderbolt II aircraft. The 75 and 76 TFS received A-10s within the next few months, and the 23 TFW took top honors in Ninth Air Force's tactical bombing competition (Gunpowder 1981) in July, and advanced to TAC's worldwide Gunsmoke 1981 competition at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, in September. The Flying Tigers won six of nine events, including top maintenance and munitions awards, and was the top A-10 unit in the competition. The wing's maintenance complex was also awarded the 1981 Daedalian runner-up trophy, and earned the 1984 Daedalian Aircraft Maintenance Trophy. Eight of the 23rd's A-7Ds were transferred to the 4450th Tactical Group, based at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada in June 1981, during the transition to the A-10.

Goodspeed was born in Exeter, New Hampshire and graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 2003. He received his BA in economics and history from Harvard University in 2008, an MPhil in economic and social history from Emmanuel College, Cambridge on a Gates Cambridge Scholarship in 2009, and returned to Harvard for his MA in 2011 and PhD in history, specializing in economic history, in 2014. His dissertation, Upon Daedalian Wings of Paper Money: Adam Smith, Free Banking, and the Financial Crisis of 1772, was supervised by a committee with Niall Ferguson, Benjamin M. Friedman, Richard Hornbeck, and Emma Georgina Rothschild.

In 1977, the 185th converted to the LTV A-7D Corsair II. While flying the A-7Ds, the unit won the Spaatz Trophy for the second time in 1990, recognizing them as the best Air Guard unit in the country. The Unit also was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit award five times; in 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989 and in 1991. In addition, the 185th's Logistics Group was a two-time winner of the Daedalian Trophy which recognizes the best maintenance team in the Aior Guard. In 1989, the 185th won the Twelfth Air Force A-7 gunnery meet for the second time.

In July 1963 Eade returned to SAC headquarters as chief of the Safety Division. It was during this assignment that SAC was awarded the Daedalian Flying Safety Trophy for 1964. In January 1965 he was assigned as chief of the Control Division, and in July 1967 he assumed duties as director of operations plans, deputy chief of staff for operations, with additional duties as chief, Single Integrated Operational Plans Division, Joint Strategic Target Planning Staff, of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Eade was assigned to Headquarters U.S. Air Force in February 1970 as director of plans, office of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Operations.

He is a docent and military aviation lecturer at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's (NASM) Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center annex at Washington Dulles International Airport in Virginia. In 2016, he spoke at Freedom Museum in Manassas, Virginia about his USAF career as a U-2 pilot. In 2017, Wilson appeared in the documentary, The Dragon Lady, from the Smithsonian Channel’s Air Warriors series of videos. In 2019, he was elected chairman of The Cold War Museum’s Board of Directors. Wilson is a member of the Order of Daedalians and in 2019 served as chaplain of Daedalian Flight 4, the National Capital Flight, in Fort Myer, Virginia.
