Prior to the start of group theatre movement, the commercial theatre of Kolkata strived to attract audiences based on star-power. Popular actors such as Sisir Bhaduri, Ahindra Chowdhury and others were considered consistent crowd- pullers. The group theatre tried to depart from this paradigm. Instead of superstars, the emphasis in group theatre was on the group—which was commonly an amalgamation of non-professional participants who identified themselves with the social motives of the movement and participated in the production out of passion for the art.

The Choreo Nite (Inter-collegiate dance competition) and Couture Boulevard (Fashion Show) are two of the biggest and fiercely contested events at Ragam. Mr.&Ms.; Ragam is one of the signature events of Ragam, aimed at testing the persona of the contestants through a series of professionally scrutinized rounds. The ‘Take One’ short film competition is one of the most prestigious events of Ragam, with the competition being judged each year by prominent film-makers in the industry with the winners getting golden opportunities to interact with some of these brilliant minds.

Joginder Tuteja of Bollywood Hungama rated the album favourably, awarding it four stars out of five, stating "with only four songs in the album, one longs to lay hands on a lot more. Nonetheless, from what is made available, there are good enough reasons to celebrate with "Dhinka Chika" and "Character Dheela" all set to be not just huge hits musically but also turn out to be massive crowd pullers. On the other hand, 'Meri Ada Bhi' ends up adding good variety to the album with 'Humko Pyaar Hua' carrying a potential to gather steam once the film releases. Sukanya Verma of Rediff while giving it two and a half stars out of five saying "Ready isn't a song-heavy album despite a ditzy remixed counterpart for each.

Guest lectures were an integral part of the festival, with prominent speakers like Gayle Lackmann McDowell, Gert Lanckriet, J N Reddy, Michael E Brown, Jeff Lieberman, Swaminathan Gurumurthy, Dr Vijay Chandru, Dr Sivathanu Pillai and Narendra Nayak presenting guest lectures across three days. Workshops on Bipedal Robotics, IC Engines, Light Painting, Intro to Stocks, Pengufest and Cyber forensics were conducted. Exhibitions at Pragyan 2012 had the motto "Seeing is Believing". Exhibitions like Advanced Robotic Systems, Gripper Arm, Augmented Reality, Laser Tag and Catapult were crowd pullers in this edition. Crossfire, a panel discussion among various eminent personalities such as Amoghavarsha, A N Chandramouli, J N Reddy, Arunabh Kumar, J Balamurugan, Sarath Babu and Professor Vinod was held, with the topic being ‘It's not about the Degree, it's about the Passion’.
