The municipal president is elected for a term of three years. The president appoints nine Councilpersons to serve on the board for three-year terms, as the Secretary and councilors heritage and patrimony, public services, public security, commissaries and ecology, urban development, rural development, public monuments, markets and health, and parks and public gardens. The Municipal Council administers the business of the municipality. It is responsible for budgeting and expenditures and producing all required reports for all branches of the municipal administration.

When the current police headquarters was built in the late 1980s, adjacent but in the other direction, facing Gardnertown Road, this building became a secondary town hall, housing the code compliance, building, zoning, and planning board offices. Like all of the towns within New York State, Newburgh is governed by a town board. In Newburgh, the board consists of four councilpersons, and a town supervisor who presides and exercises limited executive authority. The supervisor is elected to a two-year term, in odd numbered years.

Greece town hall The town is governed by a town board consisting of a supervisor and four council members. The supervisor is elected by all registered voters in the town, while council members are elected by and represent one of four wards. Supervisors are elected for four-year terms, and by town law may not serve for more than twelve years consecutively, after which the individual is ineligible to serve for four years. Councilpersons are elected for two-year terms, and may serve for a maximum of ten consecutive years in that position.

SamTrans is constituted as a special district under California state law. It is governed by a board of nine appointed members; two county Supervisors, one "transportation expert" appointed by the county Board of Supervisors, three city councilpersons appointed by the cities in the county to represent the county's judicial districts, and three citizens appointed by the other six board members (including one from the coastside). The district was established in 1976 and consolidated eleven different municipal bus systems serving the county. One year later, SamTrans began operation of mainline bus service to San Francisco.

The Town of Portville is a municipal corporation governed by a 5-member elected town board. The town board is composed of one supervisor (2-year term beginning every even numbered year) and four councilpersons (4-year terms of which two begin concurrent with each new supervisor term). The highway superintendent is an elected 2-year term position and is run independently from the town board, except for receiving annual funding of the highway department budget. The town justice is an elected 2-year position and is run independently from the town board, except for receiving funding on a monthly basis.

A much longer route along Peachtree Street, the city's main street. Originally, the line was to run from the Oakland City neighborhood through Downtown Atlanta, Midtown and Buckhead. Since 1974, with certain exceptions, towns may even supersede some provisions of Town Law regardless of their general applicability. Besides the above described legislative powers, Town Law and other state statutes contain authority for Town Boards to act in a variety of specific areas. These have been amended over the years where Town Boards now have the authority to supply almost every public function or service that any other municipality may provide, subject to the functions specific rules and procedures. In Mendon, the Town Board consists of a Supervisor and four Town Board Members (often referred to in statutes as councilpersons).

Begun in 2006, "Celebrating Words: Written, Performed & Sung" is Tia Chucha's Centro's annual outdoor community festival, held each summer in Sylmar. The only literacy & performing arts festival in Los Angeles' City Council District 7, it features musicians, bands, spoken word artists, theater performers, and dance troupes, as well as an array of local vendors, including Tia Chucha's bookstore. Sponsors have included the LA City Department of Cultural Affairs, Center for Cultural Innovation, Youth Policy Institute, the Mayor's Office, LA County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavksy, Councilpersons Richard Alarcon and Tony Cardenas, California State Senator Alex Padilla, State Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes, among others.

In March 2017, the apartments were nominated as a Los Angeles historic-cultural monument following outcry over a demolition permit that was obtained for the property by developers Isaac W. Cohanzad and Michael Cohanzad of the Cohanzad Family Trust and their LLC, The Wiseman Group; residents had been evicted per the controversial Ellis Act, and the permit subsequently obtained. City councilperson David Ryu raised an emergency motion that the City Council consider the apartments for historic designation, and Council President Herb Wesson seconded the motion, wherein the remaining 14 councilpersons voted unanimously to hear the case. During the proceedings, Ryu noted that not only was the complex significant for the architectural movement to which it belonged, but also the "significant to Los Angeles as the home of Polish Jews who survived the Holocaust and came to the United States as refugees." By July 2017, however, the effort to save the Norton was foiled, and the complex was demolished.
