On 3 June 1808, Staines received a letter from the Captain- General of the Balearic Isles that the citizens of Mallorca had declared their allegiance to Ferdinand II and wished to begin talks with the British. Royal Monogram of Queen Joanna of Bulgaria After initially fleeing to Alexandria in the Kingdom of Egypt, to join her father, King Victor Emmanuel III, they moved on to Madrid. In 1962 Simeon II married and Queen Giovanna moved to Estoril, on the Portuguese Riviera, where she lived for the rest of her life, apart from a brief return to Bulgaria in 1993, when she visited the site of Boris's grave and was present at the reburial of his heart. During this last visit to Bulgaria she received a cordial welcome, and thousands of people went on the streets to greet her. She is buried in the Communal Cemetery of Assisi, Italy, where she had married King Boris III in 1930.

Ainslie presented Sir Walter Scott with a manuscript copy of ‘Tam o' Shanter,’ which he had received from Burns at Ellisland.

Peace was shortly afterwards proclaimed, and Lieutenant Johnston receiving promotion, was appointed second-lieutenant of his old ship, Asia, which was then under the command of Captain Alexander Skeene, and was employed cruising off the coast of West Florida. Its reputation is also shown by the fact that extracts from the same were made a hundred years later (Hanau, 1610), under the title of Ḥiddushe Aguddah ("Novellæ from the Aguddah"), comprising a selection from Suslin's own explanations in the Aguddah.

James II, principal adversary of Macalda and Alaimo The event that caused Alaimo's reputation to plummet was in the end his indulgent behavior toward the Prince of Salerno, Charles the Lame, son of Charles I of Anjou. By now fallen into disgrace, suspected of conspiracy, Alaimo ran into the strong hostility of James II of Aragon: bombarded by weakly-founded accusations, he was told by James to go see King Peter in Aragon. He left for Barcelona on November 19, 1284, and was met with a cordial welcome by the king, by whom he was, however, held under such strict surveillance that he could be considered a prisoner. Alaimo's departure threw his entourage into turmoil and meanwhile gave his opponents the chance to identify and prosecute his presumed accomplices.

Relatively few Arabs immigrated to Honduras during the 19th century. Under conservative General Captain José María Medina (1862-1876), the National Congress issued the first immigration law on February 26, 1866, allowing willing foreigners to reside in the country. Afterwards, the liberal reformer Dr. Marco Aurelio Soto (1876-1883) published the Political Constitution of 1876, which reflected the importance he placed on immigration for national development, including those from North America (many displaced by the aftermath of the Civil War), Europe, the Middle East and Asia, etc. The government of General Luis Bográn (1883-1891) also emphasized immigration as a means to increase the national population, develop the labor force, further exploit the country's natural resources; in Honduras he offered foreigners the opportunity to treat with equality, a cordial welcome, security, and especially an influence on the Honduran national identity.
