On January 8, it passed about 75 mi (120 km) north of Bermuda, bringing strong winds and heavy rain to the islands. The next day, an unseasonable air pattern blocked the disturbance from continuing along its northeasterly path. Instead, the system turned east-southeast into a region slightly more favorable for subtropical development. On January 10, surface pressures below the system's core deepened to 979 mbar (hPa; 28.91 inHg) as the surrounding winds reached hurricane-force.

From there, fluidly continuing along the motion wrought by ten-uchi, the arms would follow through with the stroke, dragging the sword through its target. Because the nihontō slices rather than chops, it is this "dragging" which allows it to do maximum damage, and is thus incorporated into the cutting technique. At full speed, the swing will appear to be full stroke, the sword passing through the targeted object. The segments of the swing are hardly visible, if at all.

The Superior Dam reservoir The area surrounding the Superior Dam is mostly undeveloped. It is a located along the Huron River Water Trail, mapped by the Huron–Clinton Metroparks system to provide information for canoes and kayaks. The Superior Dam does not have its own parking lot, park facilities, or launch, and carrying a canoe or kayak to the site is impractical. For boaters travelling down the Huron River, there is a small dock and portage, as well as improved terrain to allow portaging the dam and continuing along the river.

Luma Pictures was primarily responsible for the train chase sequence, nicknamed the "French Connection" scene after the 1971 film of the same name. They had to make the footage look like it was continuing along a single train line since the sequence was filmed in multiple locations around Los Angeles. Digital Domain worked on the Skrull transformation sequences, Rise created the exterior environment of Hala, and Framstore handled the battle sequence on Torfa.

This happens when the protagonist—at a tavern with friends, trying to get over a just-broken relationship—sees another customer at the jukebox, trying to play "B-17", which is coded to a song the woman does not want to hear. The song, she cries, was one of the now-broken relationship.

A short distance later, PA 532 turns north onto two-lane undivided Buck Road, with PA 213 continuing along Bridgetown Pike. PA 532 curves northeast and passes through wooded residential areas.
At 21:45 on the night of 27 September, the infantry advance began with a march to the Mushaid Ridge, which they occupied with little opposition. Instead of continuing along the river bank, however, the 12th and 42nd Indian Brigades swung left to the Euphrates Valley Canal between the Euphrates and Lake Habbaniyah. They secured the dam across the canal by 15:00 on 28 September. Their advance in the intense heat was made possible by a water supply chain that Brooking had established using 350 Ford vans, which transported over 63,000 litres (14,000 gallons) of water on 28 September alone.
The inversion effectively reduces sky wave radiation from a transmitter - normally VHF and UHF signals travel on into space when they reach the horizon, the refractive index of the ionosphere preventing signal return. With temperature inversion, however, the signal is to a large extent refracted over the horizon rather than continuing along a direct path into outer space. Fog also produces good tropospheric results, again due to inversion effects. Fog occurs during high-pressure weather, and if such conditions result in a large belt of fog with clear sky above, there will be heating of the upper fog level and thus an inversion.
CR 534 eastbound past CR 706 in Deptford Township CR 534 begins along Cooper Street on the eastern edge of Woodbury, Gloucester County. It travels east along the two-lane Cooper Street through Deptford Township passing over the New Jersey Turnpike then widening to a four-lane undivided boulevard before coming to an intersection with Route 47. The road narrows to two lanes after the CR 544 intersection before CR 534 splits from Cooper Street by heading southeast onto Good Intent Road, with CR 706 continuing along Cooper Street.
Once the carriage has reached the top of the elevator, and the top of the show building, it drops backwards towards to turntable which spins the carriage around before continuing along the roller coaster track. This is where the true wild mouse section of the roller coaster begins. This section features various smoke, lighting and laser effects as well as a giant spider (previously used in the Harry Potter Movie Magic Experience and Halloween Family Fun Nights). It is also musically accompanied by U.S. punk band MXPX playing a cover of the Scooby-Doo theme song.
DE 9 was extended north to US 13 Alt. (now US 13) in Wilmington by 1959, being rerouted off Smyrna-Leipsic Road to follow its current alignment to New Castle, passing through that city on 6th Street before continuing along its current alignment to Wilmington. At this point, the entire route was paved. The current Reedy Point Bridge carrying DE 9 over the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal was completed in 1968. By 1971, DE 9 was extended north to its current terminus at DE 2. DE 9 was realigned to bypass New Castle by 1984 by following Washington Street and DE 273.
Passing south of Harvard Square, US 3 and Route 2 transition onto the Fresh Pond Parkway and join Route 16. Near the Alewife MBTA station, Route 2 splits off as a freeway to the west (Concord Turnpike), while US 3 / Route 16 stay on the Alewife Brook Parkway. Shortly thereafter, US 3 splits from the Parkway (which continues as Route 16) and joins Route 2A (Massachusetts Avenue) westbound, crossing into Arlington. In the center of town, US 3 and Route 2A split from Massachusetts Avenue and overlap briefly with Route 60 before continuing along Mystic Street.
Continuing along the west side of I-15 it gradually curves back to an almost north course and crosses under South Burton Lane at about 100 West and 1350 South. While I-15 curves to the north, FrontRunner curves slightly more to the west as it crosses Old Mill Lane/West Center Street at 640 West. After crossing over Holmes Creek it crosses under 200 North at 670 West. Continuing northwest it briefly runs along the west side of I-15 as it crosses over North Fork Holmes Creek and leaves Kaysville before entering the city of Layton.
The site, nominated in 1951, is situated on the east coast of the Lizard Peninsula, mainly within the civil parish of St Keverne, starting at Kennack Sands in the west continuing along the English Channel ending at Perprean Cove outside Coverack in the east. The site also includes some separate inland areas.Ordnance Survey: Explorer map sheet 103 The Lizard The South West Coast Path runs through the SSSI and part of the coastline is owned by the National Trust. The site falls partly within the Lizard National Nature Reserve and contains two Geological Conservation Review locations.
On June 28, the first division resumed its march heading south on Artillery Road and Middlebury Road (Route 64) through the town center of Middlebury, continuing along Route 188 and Waterbury Road into the center of Southbury. The army continued west along Main Street South and River Road through Southbury, crossing the Housatonic River into Newtown using a bridge built by the Colonial troops in 1778 at Glen Road. They continued along Church Hill Road through the center of Newtown, where they set up their tenth camp west of the town center. The officers stayed in Caleb Baldwin's Tavern.
Ancient Jerusalem (today's Old City) was not situated on the mountain watershed. Indeed, the Ridge Route did not pass directly through the ancient city but was situated just to the west, about a 20-minute walk from the city walls. The route from Bethel southwards would have passed through today's neighborhoods of Beit Hanina, Shuafat, French Hill, Givat HaMivtar and Kerem Avraham, crossing Jaffa Road at the center of modern down-town Jerusalem behind the HaMashbir Department Store building, and continuing along Shmuel HaNagid St. (peak height: Ratisbonne Monastery), King George St., Keren HaYesod St., and finally the Hebron Road to Bethlehem.
When highway was first designated, SR 180's southern terminus was at the same location as SR 179's southern terminus at US 1A in Ellsworth. The two roads had a concurrency before SR 180 split towards the west and SR 179 continuing along the east shore of Graham Lake towards Waltham. SR 180 crossed the Union River just downstream of the dam holding back Graham Lake before it curved to the north and follows what is now its current alignment. In 2007, the bridge that carried SR 180 received a failing grade based on an inspection of the bridge.
Route between Paris and Amsterdam before (red) and after (blue) the introduction of high-speed rail technology in Europe HSL-Zuid near Zoetermeer Tracks near Lage Zwaluwe Between Amsterdam and Schiphol (Westtak Ringspoorbaan), and around Rotterdam, high speed trains operate on the existing line. South of Schiphol the dedicated high speed tracks begin, parallelling the existing railway line until Nieuw-Vennep. The line then branches off eastwards, continuing along the west side of Roelofarendsveen and Hoogmade and entering a tunnel east of Leiderdorp. This tunnel was built to protect the character of the Groene Hart region.
The tornado then moved into the east side of New Richmond, where many of the city's working class residents lived. As many as forty homes in this neighborhood were completely obliterated, leaving the neighborhood virtually unrecognizable. Within a period of roughly seven to ten minutes, over half of New Richmond was laid to ruins. After departing New Richmond, the tornado moved on toward the northeast, continuing along a course almost parallel to the Omaha Railroad line, with most of its destruction after that point confined to rural areas, with only two fatalities occurring north of town.
Beginning at the north-west corner of the wall adjoining the river at the bottom of Newport Street, where the Bridge Gate stood, opening out on to the bridge, the wall ran along the river bank for a short distance so as to include St. Clement's Church, which then stood in the north-western angle of the wall. The walls then ran along the south side of the Butts. Continuing along the south side of Shaw Street, by the side of the Berkeley Hospital, it included that institution in the city. It crossed over Foregate Street just where the Hop Market Hotel stands.
Passenger trains were still using the section of line between Heudeber-Danstedt and Wasserleben until 28 September 2002, continuing along the track of the former Osterwieck-Wasserleben Railway to Osterwieck. Thereafter services were withdrawn and, by 30 June 2003, the line was closed by the Federal Railway Office. At the end of the 1990s the Halle–Halberstadt section was completely converted in order to enable it to handle tilting trains with a top speed of 160 km/h. The entire control and safety equipment was modernised (including the installation of an electronic signal box at Sandersleben), the track layouts of many stations were reduced to the minimum necessary.
Much of the buildout of Rockridge in the 1920s was powered by the desire of middle-class white Protestants to avoid 'undesirable' racial groups, powered by racial covenants that prohibited ownership of property by certain ethnic groups. This is reflected in the current racial makeup of the area—it, unlike most of Oakland, is mostly white. The main thoroughfare in the area other than College Avenue is now Pleasant Valley Avenue. Originally Pleasant Valley Avenue did not cross over the hill from Piedmont Avenue to Broadway – instead it terminated at Piedmont Avenue while continuing along a large portion of what is now known as Grand Avenue.
The station is served by an hourly Transport for Wales service to Manchester Airport via Warrington Bank Quay and an hourly service to Liverpool Lime Street. In the other direction, services run to Chester, with trains from Manchester often continuing along the North Wales Coast Line as far as Llandudno, while trains from Liverpool currently terminate at Chester save for a single service to Wrexham on weekday and Saturday evenings. On Sundays trains only run between Manchester and Chester and Liverpool and Chester. Frodsham is also served by the infrequent (one train per day, now northbound only) Northern Trains- operated service between Leeds and Ellesmere Port.
The village of San Rocco di Piegara lies on the lower Lessini Mountains, on the ridge between the Squaranto valley and the Mezzane valley, in a quite flat area where you can see the typical landscape of Lessinia. It can be reached through the provincial road SP-35 that begins in Montorio, about 6 km northeast of Verona. Along the way from south to north one meets the villages of Trezzolano and Cancello. From San Rocco continuing along the SP-35 one reaches San Vitale in Arco (4 km), which is also a frazione of Roverè, whilst turning east one finds San Mauro di Saline (5 km).

The concept has been present in the Science Fiction literature since at least the Mars trilogy by Kim Stanley Robinson. More recent proponents include David Gobel, co-founder of the Methuselah Foundation (MF), the biogerontologist Aubrey de Grey (the other co- founder of the MF), and futurist Ray Kurzweil, who named one of his books, Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever, after the concept. The last two claim that by putting further pressure on science and medicine to focus research on increasing limits of aging, rather than continuing along at its current pace, more lives will be saved in the future, even if the benefit is not immediately apparent.
At this roundabout the A4119 meets momentarily with its original course before continuing along the old Railway line. The route then bypasses the village of Penygraig and south of Tonypandy where is progresses down a steep incline. There is a spur with Clydach Vale before the road, still following an old railway line, progresses down to the floor of the valley where the A4119 ends with a roundabout of the A4058. Originally the A4119 continued along Colliers Way and Llwynypia Road, where it again followed its original course, to a Terminus at Llwynypia Hospital with the A4058, but following the completion of the Porth Relief Road, the roads were re-numbered.
The expressway heads north, skirting the east side of Muncie, passing over the White River and through interchanges with Memorial Drive in unincorporated Center Township and SR 32 in Muncie. Continuing along the east edge of Muncie, there is a right- in/right-out intersection in both directions with East Centennial Avenue and an intersection with East McGalliard Road. Northeast of Muncie, at the border of unincorporated Center Township and Hamilton Township, there is an intersection with East Riggin Road. Shortly thereafter, SR 67 splits off the expressway at an interchange, followed by a partial interchange with Old State Road 3, leading back into Muncie.
The route turns north onto Main Street and crosses the Hollidaysburg and Roaring Spring Railroad, heading into residential and commercial areas. At the intersection with Spang Street, PA 867 becomes a one-way pair with the southbound direction continuing along one- way Main Street and the northbound direction heading northeast on two-way Spang Street before heading northwest on one-way East Main Street. The two directions of the route merge back together and continue north on Main Street between industrial areas to the west and homes to the east. Shortly after crossing the county line, US 90 continues to carry the name "Old Spanish Trail" where it enters the community of Bottle Branch and serves as the northern border of Eglin Air Force Base, although some private property occasionally can be found. Here the road serves as the northern terminus of State Road 285. Continuing along the northern edge of the base, US 90 and I-10 run parallel to each other, until the base territory ends, and I-10 moves to the southeast. In DeFuniak Springs, US 90 runs along the north side of the DeFuniak Springs Airport where it is joined in a concurrency with southbound US 331\.
When routes were first legislated in Pennsylvania in 1911, the current route of PA 501 was not given a route number. PA 501 was designated in 1928 to run from PA 72 (Prince Street) in Lancaster north to PA 5 (now US 322) in Brickerville, running along a paved road. The route headed east from PA 72 on Liberty Street before it turned north and followed Lititz Avenue out of Lancaster, continuing along its current alignment to Brickerville. PA 243 was designated in 1928 to run from US 22/PA 3 (now US 422) in Myerstown north to PA 43 (now Old Route 22) in Bethel, following an unpaved road.
From there it continues eastwards along the north side of the Sunset Highway before entering the Robertson Tunnel for Washington Park station. After leaving the tunnel, the line passes below the Vista Bridge and enters downtown Portland, continuing along Southwest Jefferson Street before turning north onto the median of Southwest 18th Avenue. Near Providence Park, the tracks diverge eastbound onto Southwest Yamhill Street and westbound onto Southwest Morrison Street, crossing the Portland Transit Mall near the Pioneer Courthouse and Pioneer Courthouse Square. The tracks reconnect on Southwest 1st Avenue and head north, traversing the Willamette River via the Steel Bridge into the Rose Quarter.
The impact is the result of the policy action that make it undesirable. These results are at the end of the chain of reasoning of your DA (starts with your link with internal links spanning over the Brink with Uniqueness and lead to the Impact), then continuing along with the example, an impact would be that economic collapse may cause nuclear war. The Impact is the edge of the sword of your DA and is usually a significantly bad event caused by inertia evident through the internal links inside the link off over the brink and uniquely so. Internal links are often undesirable things by themselves, and could be considered impacts.
The importance to the city of free rail access was such that the rival Caledonian Railway was granted running powers over the line by Parliament; the Caledonian got access to the NBR system from Sighthill via Springburn. The siding complex at Stobcross was 70 feet (21 m) above the level of the quayside lines and a steeply graded connecting line was built; the Caledonian got joint ownership of that short section. The G&SWR; also applied for access but their line was to run west from Dunlop Street across St Enoch square, continuing along the bank of the Clyde, and this scheme was refused by Parliament.
The headwaters at Bear Valley, seen from Emigrant Gap The Bear River originates at Emigrant Gap, as a tiny stream on the border of Nevada and Placer Counties in the Tahoe National Forest. The headwaters are on a ridge immediately to the south of the South Yuba River and north of the North Fork American River. The river flows west into the Bear Valley then enters a deep and narrow gorge, passing the community of Dutch Flat. Continuing along the Nevada–Placer County line it receives Steephollow Creek from the north before widening into Rollins Reservoir, formed by the high Rollins Dam east of Chicago Park.
Hamilton Park is noted for its reputation of mixing good quality racing with glamour and entertainment. Top jockeys like Frankie Dettori have appeared at the racecourse and live music performances from the likes of Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Jason Donovan, Pixie Lott, Alesha Dixon and Dannii Minogue have helped establish Hamilton Park as a high-profile venue in its area. Continuing along this theme, the venue staged a sell-out stand alone JLS concert on 23 July 2010, along with live performances from The Saturdays and The X Factor finalists Olly Murs, Stacey Solomon, Danyl Johnson. In 2011 the Racecourse staged two stand alone concert events by the Wanted and Westlife.
From Parkhead, the road would cut northward, through Hogarth Park, a former railway embankment now used as public open space. The new road would run between Haghill and Carntyne, under Edinburgh Road and Cumbernauld Road continuing along the old Caledonian Railway "Switchback" line to the M8/M80 junction at Provan. A planning application was submitted for the southern section of the EERR, named the Clyde Gateway, in October 2005, but the winning of Host City for the 2014 Commonwealth Games provided the necessary impetus. Phase 1, from junction 1A of the now-completed M74 extension Polmadie Road to Shawfield opened in April 2007 as part of the Oatlands development.
1987; State Route 242 which runs primarily in Concord was signed as Route 24 until the same time. Older maps show routes for 24 which continue along State Route 4 from the current intersection of 242 to the Antioch Bridge, continuing along the river road to Sacramento, currently State Route 160, then continuing north to Woodland, Marysville, Oroville, along the North Fork of the Feather River to a junction with State Route 89 (this segment is currently State Route 70), where it continued dual-numbered with 89 through Quincy. Highway 24 split from 89 near Graeagle, and continued east through Portola east until its terminus at U.S. Route 395.
The road passes to the north of Wheatland, the former home of President James Buchanan, before it enters the city of Lancaster and becomes city-maintained. Upon entering Lancaster, PA 23 intersects the westbound direction of PA 462 at Race Avenue. Here, the route splits into a one-way pair, with the eastbound direction of PA 23 continuing along two-way Marietta Avenue and the westbound direction of PA 23 becoming concurrent with westbound PA 462 on one-way West Walnut Street, carrying two lanes. Two blocks later, near Lancaster Regional Medical Center, eastbound PA 23 splits from Marietta Avenue onto one-way eastbound West Chestnut Street, with two lanes.
Important east-west routes include U.S. Route 33, and West Virginia Routes 62, 87, and 331. Route 33 crosses the Ohio River at Ravenswood, and forms the northern boundary of the district to Silverton; the district line then continues from Silverton to The Y along Old West Virginia 56, meeting the Parkersburg Road at The Y, south of Sandyville. Route 62 runs along Mill Creek between Ripley and Ripley Landing, then follows the Ohio River past Millwood, and runs into the hills as far as Mount Alto, where it turns west and enters Mason County, continuing along the river to Point Pleasant. Route 331 runs between Mount Alto and Cottageville.
The dorsal fin contains 11 spines and 14-15 soft rays, while the anal fin has 3 spines and 7-8 soft rays. The caudal fin varies from convex to slightly rounded. The head and body tan and they are marked with dark brown bands. There is a forked band starting at the posterior margin of the eye, its upper branch reaching a dark brown saddle-like blotch on the nape just in before of origin of the dorsal fin while the lower branch runs to lowest of the spines on the gill cover before continuing along the flanks and then forking over the pectoral fin.
At its opening the line already connected with the line from Nuremberg to Regensburg. There were plans as early as 1836 to extend the Ludwig Railway via Feucht to Altdorf and then continuing along the Lauterach, Vils and the Naab rivers to Regensburg. The plans, however, were not realised because King Ludwig I favoured the Ludwig Canal between the Danube and the Main and the railway was seen as a competitor to the canal. Only the enactment of a law for the construction of Vizinalbahnen (branch lines) on 29 April 1869 made it possible to connect Altdorf to the Nuremberg–Regensburg line in Feucht.
Continuing downriver, LA 44 begins to follow a generally eastward direction passing through the communities of Convent, Paulina, Lutcher, and Gramercy. Jefferson Highway, the local name in use beginning in Lutcher, is a vestige of the road being part of that historic auto trail in the 1910s and 1920s. On the east side of Gramercy, LA 44 passes under and connects with a second Mississippi River crossing known as the Gramercy Bridge, part of LA 3213, just before entering St. John the Baptist Parish. Continuing along the Mississippi River, LA 44 runs parallel to US 61 (Airline Highway) and passes through the communities of Mt. Airy, Garyville, Lions, and Reserve.
The Cwmorthin Tramway was a industrial tramway in North Wales, which connected the Ffestiniog Railway to the Cwmorthin Quarry and later the Conglog Slate Quarry. It was built in the 1840s or 1850s, rising through two inclined planes to reach the main Cwmorthin Quarry mill and its internal incline which rose from floor 1 to floor 8. In 1874, it was extended, rising up through a third incline to the Cwmorthin Lake level and continuing along the valley floor to reach the Conglog Quarry. The tracks to Conglog were abandoned in the 1920s and the rest of the tramway ceased to be used from the onset of the Second World War.
The 61-man patrol, commanded by Captain Reuben F. Bernard, returned to the scene of the earlier fight and tracked Cochise and his warriors high into the mountains. After finding an abandoned campsite on October 20 and continuing along a faint trail, the troopers came under fire from Indians positioned atop a rocky mesa flanked by deep canyons. Under orders from Captain Bernard, Sumner and others dismounted and charged up the steep side of the mesa, taking heavy fire the entire way. They reached a low ledge from the Apaches and were pinned down by combined bow and gun fire; two troopers were killed and one wounded.
At the edge of Gilmerton, the road becomes Drum Street, where it passes The Drum, an 18th-century country house, before reverting to Gilmerton Road. Approximately from its eastern terminus, it crosses over the Edinburgh City Bypass (A720) as a partial grade-separated junction utilizing a pair of roundabouts, where there is evidence of the junction almost having an east- facing sliproad. Continuing along the Gilmerton Road, the A772 has a roundabout for Dobbies Garden Centre and Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World, and an inn. Shortly afterwards, the A772 meets its eastern terminus at the Gilmerton Road Roundabout with the A7 and B6392 (formerly the A68) at the community of Melville Nurseries, between Lasswade and Dalkeith.
As the Bunter weathered, layers of Palaeozoic rock were exposed again. As the Cainozoic era began, the West Hesse Depression emerged as part of a great rift valley from Scandinavia to the Mediterranean Sea; the Mediterranean-Mjøsa Zone. This zone is a succession of grabens that run from the Rhone Valley through the Rhine Rift, the Wetterau and the Gießen Basin, below the Vogelsberg foothills to the Amöneburg Basin, and from there over the Neustadt Saddle in the West Hesse Depression and continuing along the Leine Graben to the Oslo Rift valley.LAGIS: Geological map of Hesse and explanatory text More recent sea level changes led in the Tertiary period to flooding of the region and the deposition of sand.
SR 91 begins at an intersection with US 11E/SR 34 in Johnson City. The first section of the road follows two one-way streets, namely Market Street (westbound traffic) and Main Street (eastbound traffic). It has an interchange with I-26/US 19W/US 23 before continuing along East Main Street and Elizabethton Highway as it leaves the city.U.S. Geological Survey, 1:24,000 topographical maps: Johnson City, TN; Elizabethton, TN; Keenburg, TN; Carter, TN; Doe, TN; Shady Valley, TN; Mountain City, TN; Laurel Bloomery, TN. SR 91 near Hunter In Elizabethton, it meets US 321/SR 67/SR 362, and runs concurrent with US 321 along West Elk Avenue and Broad Street through the city's downtown area.
PA 194 northbound in Littlestown PA 194 enters Penn Township in York County and becomes Frederick Street as it becomes lined with homes, continuing into the borough of Hanover. Upon reaching the Forney Avenue intersection, the route splits into a one-way pair with northbound PA 194 continuing along two-way Frederick Street and southbound PA 194 using Forney Avenue to one-way Chestnut Street. Both streets pass a mix of homes and businesses, continuing into the downtown area of Hanover. In this area, the route meets PA 116 and forms a concurrency with that route. In the commercial center, the one-way pair crosses PA 94, with northbound PA 116/PA 194 becoming Broadway at this point.
A rook moves horizontally along concentric rings of cells, and vertically along files, including crossing the central null space and continuing along the same file in a straight line. When moving horizontally, a rook cannot end its move on the same cell it started from. The queen moves horizontally and vertically the same as a rook. When a queen or bishop moves diagonally and then crosses the central null space to the opposite side, it must continue from a cell of the same colour it started from: it is moved one cell clockwise or anticlockwise after passing the null space, consistent with whether it began its diagonal movement in a clockwise or anticlockwise direction.
NY 163's signed western terminus at NY 80 in Fort Plain NY 163 begins at an intersection with NY 5S and NY 80 (Main Street) in the village of Fort Plain, although it is signed as ending at NY 80 south of NY 5S. The route heads southwest along Main Street through Fort Plain, overlapping with NY 80 as it passes multiple commercial businesses near the village center. At Kellogg Street, NY 80 and NY 163 separate, with the former continuing along Main Street and the latter turning southward onto Kellogg Street. After crossing over Otsquago Creek, NY 163 intersects with Clinton Avenue, where the route turns west along the creek.
They then took a boat trip from Dunglass Burn east along the coast with the geologist Sir James Hall of Dunglass. They found the sequence in the cliff below St. Helens, then just to the east at Siccar Point found what Hutton called "a beautiful picture of this junction washed bare by the sea". Playfair later commented about the experience, "the mind seemed to grow giddy by looking so far into the abyss of time". Continuing along the coast, they made more discoveries including sections of the vertical beds showing strong ripple marks which gave Hutton "great satisfaction" as a confirmation of his supposition that these beds had been laid horizontally in water.
The line runs through Franconia towards the north-east, continuing along the winding Jagst valley to Möckmühl, from where it continues along the Seckach river to Adelsheim through an area of karst landscape known as the Bauland. The line continues along the Kirnau river through Osterburken to its highest point at 333 metres above sea level at Eubigheim station before passing through the Eubigheim tunnel under the watershed between the Neckar and the Main drainage basins. As far as Königshofen the line runs along the valley of the Umpfer, which flows into the Tauber in Königshofen. The line continues along the river, sharing its tracks with the Tauber Valley Railway as far as Lauda.
The Via Regia ran west–east through the centre of the Holy Roman Empire, from the Rhine at Mainz-Kastel (Elisabethenstraße) to Frankfurt am Main, trade city and site of the election of the King of the Romans, continuing along Hanau, the Kaiserpfalz at Gelnhausen, the towns of Steinau an der Straße, Neuhof, Fulda and Eisenach to Erfurt, a centre of woad production. It ran further eastwards to Eckartsberga, crossing the Saale river between Bad Kösen and Naumburg and reached Leipzig, another trade city. The eastern part continued through Upper Lusatia (Via Regia Lusatiae Superioris) along Großenhain, Königsbrück, Kamenz, Bautzen and Görlitz to Wrocław in Silesia with further connection to Kraków in Poland.
As mentioned ascents of Long Side are often done by walkers en route to Skiddaw, this route starts at the Ravenstone Hotel on the A591 (grid reference ) and climbs Ullock Pike first by its northern ridge before continuing along Longside Edge to the summit of Long Side. The route to Skiddaw keeps on the ridge to Carl Side before ascending a steep loose path through the scree to the summit of Skiddaw. A direct ascent of Long Side is possible from the Old Sawmill car park (grid reference ) on the A591 using the Forestry Commission way marked trail to find a way through Longside Wood to the open fell and then ascending the steep fell side to the summit.
Fingertips began the recordings of a new album released in March 2006: Catharsis (Greek word meaning explosion of feelings). Continuing along the path of the debut album, the second, and always difficult album "Catharsis" confirmed the Fingertips not as a promise of national music but as a certainty. Proof of this is the single "Cause To Love You", a ballad in the style of the Fingertips: melancholy, passionate, intense and captivating. In October 2006 and after a summer with the important participation at Rock in Rio Lisboa, the Fingertips present another single "Move Faster", in addition to the normal version the band decided to invite Nuno Nobre aka Hydro, to make a remix of the theme.
PA 924 becomes two lanes again and bends to the north, passing to the east of the community of Shenandoah Heights. The road heads into dense forests and turns northeast off Ringtown Boulevard onto an unnamed road, crossing into Union Township and passing to the east of Fetter Pond. This stream is itself fed by the stream of Pietre Bianche which joins 685 metres north of the village. The pattern formed by the streams follows the ridgeline up to Punta Cervio, defining the border between Focicchia and Altiani. Altiani is separated from Piedicorte-di-Gaggio by a north–south line following the Caselle stream which flows between the Altiani Mountain and Monte Rosso (Piedicorte-di-Gaggio) continuing along a ridgeline towards Tavignano, joining the river about 500 m before the confluence of the Cavelle stream and spiking south along a ridge line towards the confluence with Casaloria Creek (a tributary of Tavignano) and the Coina stream. Punta Muracinto (645 m - Rospigliani) marks the southeast end of the commune.
The road turns to the northeast and crosses Anderson Creek, continuing along the north bank of the creek as it passes near industrial areas and heads into Curwensville. The route becomes State Street and turns southeast and heads through residential areas before heading into the commercial downtown and intersecting the northern terminus of PA 453. PA 879 heads through woods and crosses under a R.J. Corman Railroad line, continuing between the railroad line to the north and the West Branch Susquehanna River to the south. The road passes under another R.J. Corman Railroad line and heads through more wooded areas, crossing back into Pike Township and turning to the northeast as Clearfield Curwensville Highway.
The route becomes parallel to Amtrak's Keystone Corridor to the east and crosses the Swatara Creek into the borough of Middletown. Here, PA 441 follows Ann Street northwest before it turns north onto South Union Street, with PA 441 Truck continuing along Ann Street. The route runs past businesses and passes under Amtrak's Keystone Corridor near Middletown Station. The road heads through the commercial downtown, crossing the Middletown and Hummelstown Railroad which runs along Brown Street, before it crosses Emaus Street and continues into residential areas along North Union Street. PA 441 curves northwest and comes to an intersection with PA 230, at which point PA 441 Truck returns to the route.
The U.S. Highway followed Old Trail Road, which is a township road north to the village of Newberrytown. There, US 111 had an acute intersection with PA 24 (York Haven Road), which is today PA 382. The two highways ran concurrently through Newberrytown as Old Trail Road and split west of the village, with PA 24 continuing along PA 382's modern path on Lewisberry Road and US 111 following Old Trail Road, which is again a township road. Part of the U.S. Highway's course south of the village of Yocumtown was removed by construction of I-83, but resumes along part of PA 392 from Fishing Creek until PA 392 turns east onto Yocumtown Road.
From there it continues along the narrow arete of The Big Gun () to Cnoc na Péiste (), and continuing along the chain of Maolán Buí (), Cnoc an Chuillinn (), Cnoc na Toinne () to the summit of Carrauntoohil (). From Carrauntoohil, a number of variations are possible, the main one being a detour to Beenkeragh () before returning along the same route to get to Caher () and then on to Caher West Top () before descending to the Hydro-Track () car park near Lough Acoose, Glencar. An alternative variation is to continue from Beenkeragh on the northern side of the Coomloughra Horseshoe to the peaks or Skregmore () and Cnoc Íochtair () before descending to the Hydro-Track car park.
From north to south, the trail crosses Va 615, Suiter Road, to enter the cluster at Hunting Camp Creek Wilderness. The trail climbs Brushy Mountain, then descends to cross Hunting Camp Creek, passes by Jenkins Shelter, climbs Garden Mountain, continues along the ridge of Garden Mountain with views of Burke’s Garden, passes by Davis Farm Campsite, and crosses Va 623. The trail then enters Garden Mountain Wilderness continuing along the ridge of Garden Mountain. After leaving Garden Mountain Wilderness, the trail passes by Chestnut Ridge Shelter, goes along the boundary of Beartown Wilderness then turns south, descends through Beartown Wilderness Addition B, crosses USFS road 222, Poor Valley Road, to reach Lick Creek.
These languages would become part of the culture spread by the NMTCN in its expansions Malaysia and western towards Malaysia before 2000 BC, continuing along coastal India and Sri Lanka up to the western coast of Africa and Madagascar; and over time, further eastward towards its easternmost borders at Easter Island. Thus, as in the case of Bellwood's theory, the Austronesian languages spread eastward and westward from the area around the Philippines. Aside from the matter of the origination of peoples, the difference between the two theories is that Bellwood's theory suggests a linear expansion, while Solheim's suggests something more akin to concentric circles, all overlapping in the geographical area of the late central lobe which includes the Philippines.
CR 514 eastbound past CR 609 on the border of Raritan Township and East Amwell Township CR 514 begins at an intersection with US 202/Route 31 in East Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, heading northeast on two-lane undivided Old York Road. West of US 202/Route 31, Old York Road becomes Route 179. A short distance after beginning, the road becomes the border between Raritan Township to the northwest and East Anwell Township to the southeast, passing through a mix of farmland and homes. The route reaches the residential community of Reaville, where CR 514 splits from Old York Road and heads northeast onto Amwell Road, with CR 613 continuing along Old York Road.
The hut was originally built as a base for mountaineering in the Valley of the Ten Peaks area, but has since been superseded for that purpose by the Neil Colgan hut. However, it is still possible to make ascents in this area using Fay hut as a base, and peaks like Mount Little, Mount Fay, and Mount Quadra are the most common. For hiking and backcountry skiing, the trip up Tokumm Creek itself is worthwhile and highly scenic. Continuing along the trail past the turnoff to the hut to the Kaufmann Lake junction is also a good objective, but as of 2007, the trail past the turnoff had not been cleared of deadfall from the forest fire.
Map of the Booth's Escape Scenic Byway The Booth's Escape Scenic Byway follows the route John Wilkes Booth and accomplice David Herold escaped from Washington, D.C. on after assassinating President Abraham Lincoln at Ford's Theater in Washington, D.C. on April 14, 1865 shortly after the American Civil War ended. The byway begins in Washington, D.C., following Pennsylvania Avenue and Branch Avenue to the Maryland border. In Maryland, the route runs along MD 5 before continuing along Old Branch Avenue to Clinton. Here, the Surratt House Museum is located in a tavern that was a Confederate safehouse where Booth and Herold came to after the assassination to stock on supplies; the owner Mary Surratt was convicted and executed in the plot to assassinate Lincoln.
As the need increases and funding becomes available, Phase II improvements will be implemented. In Phase II, the northwest end of the Utah Valley Express will be rerouted directly east from the Orem station along West 800 South (instead of south along Geneva Road) and connect with the UVU campus by way of a new high-occupancy/toll (HOT) interchange overpass. It will then pass by the north and east edges of the UVU campus before reaching University Parkway and continuing along the remainder of its original route. As part of the reroute, the single BRT stop on the south side of the UVU campus (UCU/Sandhill) will be replaced by three new stops along the north and east sides of campus.
The private owner soon made proposals for a western extension continuing along the disused goods line, plus a new line through the central business district from Central to Circular Quay. The western extension opened in 2000, terminating at Lilyfield, but the company was unsuccessful in its attempts to develop a CBD line, which saw development of light rail stagnate for the remainder of the decade. By contrast, the 2010s have seen major expansion and reform of light rail in Sydney including the announcement and delivery of multiple new infrastructure projects, integration of ticketing with the city's other transport modes, the introduction of new trams and the transfer of the network to full public ownership. The extensions announced during the decade total almost .
Multiple apartment buildings were heavily damaged as well, and numerous trees were snapped. The tornado reached high-end EF3 strength as it impacted the eastern part of Trotwood and exited town, inflicting major structural damage as it struck the historic Hara Arena building. In total, 500 homes were damaged and 59 were destroyed in the city of Trotwood, resulting in four hospitalizations. Another 30 persons without access to breathable air or medications as a result of the tornado were transported elsewhere. Continuing along a southeasterly path, the powerful tornado entered the Dayton city limits and tore through the Shiloh neighborhood at high-end EF3 strength. By this point, the National Weather Service had issued a Particularly Dangerous Situation tornado warning at 10:50 p.m.
The cottage was demolished to make way for the Churchlea development. The village was served briefly by its own railway station, Rhosrobin Halt, which was actually situated in Pandy, opposite what is now known as the Pandy Business Park. The Halt was opened in 1932 by the Great Western Railway Co. and closed in October 1947. Very little remains of the structure, which was used mainly by colliers who worked at the large Gresford Colliery nearby. Continuing along the B5425, the former St Peter’s Church building remains but is now a vets and the old Rhosrobin School, which had more recently seen service as a commercial laundry, has now been demolished to make way for a new housing development called St. Peter's Close.
Interstate 70 runs concurrently with the Pennsylvania Turnpike for . Westbound travelers can exit I-70 in Maryland just south of the Pennsylvania border and enter Interstate 68, continuing along I-68's entire length through western Maryland and into West Virginia until arriving at Interstate 79, I-68's western terminus, in Morgantown. After merging onto I-79 north, a traveler can enter Pennsylvania and merge back onto I-70 in Washington, Pennsylvania, where I-70 and I-79 are briefly concurrent. Despite the added mileage, the relatively non-congested roadways in western Maryland (combined with the various tunnels and pre-Interstate quality of the Pennsylvania Turnpike) make the toll-free trip nearly the same time as the toll route.
Continuing along the circular road comes the classic Russian Market, a semi circle shaped center market with all kinds of shops from stationary, garments, to dispensaries, grocery and fast food. The only place for kids to enjoy a dip during rains (depression area), as the entire town was secured by central drainage system that was built to last and water never stood. Moving along comes the Bank designated area, L and T blocks to the west all the way to border, including Beaconhouse School System utilizing a T block building. As the circular road turns eastwards, the street going straight leads to Madr-e-Millat Girls College (named after sister of Founder of Pakistan) and Pakistan Steel Cadet College (Boys only).
A railway bridge had been proposed in the Fredericton area since the 1860s after an initial survey by the European and North American Railway "Western Extension" project. The E&NA; "Western Extension" was building the line connecting St. Croix, New Brunswick with an existing E&NA; line from Saint John to Shediac. Initial surveys of the line east from the Canada–United States border at Vanceboro-St. Croix had proposed a route due east from what would become Harvey Station to the Saint John River near Kingsclear, passing through the west end of Fredericton and crossing to the east bank of the river before continuing along the shore of Grand Lake to connect with the Saint John-Shediac line near Salisbury.
The remaining of highway in Allegheny County between PA 51 and I-376 has yet to be constructed. After a review of several alternative alignments designated by colors (green, yellow, orange, and blue), a series of public meetings hosted by the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission sought feedback from residents likely affected by the expressway's construction. The preferred route was identified as running parallel to PA 837 through the communities of Clairton and Duquesne, crossing over the Monongahela River near Kennywood Park, and then continuing along the northern side of the river through Braddock, Rankin, and Glen Hazel, finally connecting to I-376 at Oakland. A western spur would be located near the crossing and continue north through Turtle Creek and Monroeville to I-376 in Wilkins.
New signage installed by the District Department of Transportation in 2011-12 marks the first time I-695 has appeared on directional signs in the District of Columbia; some signs referring to I-695, however, still read "To I-295" along I-395, and some remaining "To I-395" signage can still be found along I-695 westbound. The new signs designate I-695 as extending from the point where I-395 branches off from the Southeast Freeway, with I-695 continuing along the Southeast Freeway and over the new 11th Street Bridge to the interchange with I-295. However, some commentators contend the new signage is confusing and that the Southeast Freeway is often confused with Baltimore's Beltway, a highway with the same route designation.
The famous Sarugakyou hot springs are located adjacent to the lake created by the dam—Akaya Lake. The hot spring facilities were originally located adjacent to the Akaya River, but submerged as a result of the dam's establishment, similar to Yanba Dam and the Kawarayu hot springs. However, in the case of Sarugakyou, the source of the hot spring was preserved, allowing for the development of a new hot spring resort area, and many hotels and inns sprung up around the shores of Akaya Lake, drawing numerous hot spring tourists to Gunma Prefecture. Route 17, which passes nearby, is more commonly known as the Mikuni Kaidō highway, and drivers continuing along toward Niigata go through the Mikuni Touge mountain pass.
Whilst the top of Table Cape and surrounding district is heavily utilised for agriculture, the steep and rocky ocean-facing embankments remain largely undisturbed from human activity and are covered in dense scrubland. The 1.26 km2 Table Cape Conservation Area (IUCN IV) extends along the shoreline from Boat Harbour Beach to the Table Cape State Reserve (IUCN III) before continuing along to Freestone Cove near Fossil Bluff. Beddomeia capensis is an endangered freshwater snail known only to occur along four small streams on Table Cape, and a tributary of Big Creek near Calder. However, recent surveys have only been able to identify the species at two unnamed streams near the Table Cape Lighthouse, with the total length of occupied stream less than .
It will then loop around the east side of BYU campus on North 900 East before returning to, and heading south along University Avenue. It will then stop at the Provo Station before passing by the Provo Towne Centre mall, making a loop through the East Bay Business Park, and finally retracing its route back to the Orem Intermodal Center. In Phase II, the west end of the BRT line will be rerouted directly east from the Orem Station along 800 South and connect with the UVU campus by way of a high-occupancy/toll (HOT) interchange overpass. It will then pass by the north and east edges of UVU before reaching University Parkway and continuing along the remainder of its original route.
Although "at least two-thirds of Surrey's old churches are faced with flint", stone was much more commonly used in the southwestern parts of Surrey which are now covered by Waverley district. A geological division runs right through Waverley from west to east, entering the county at Hale and continuing along the line of the Hog's Back towards and beyond Guildford. The sandy London Basin to the north yielded almost no usable stone, but to the south the Lower Greensand of the Early Cretaceous period offered much stone for medieval builders to work with. Bargate stone—a coarse, light-brown sandstone—was historically quarried around Chilworth, Guildford and Godalming, and was still being used for new buildings until the late 19th century and beyond.
Less scenic is the automobile route: D918 road from Lanne- en-Barétous in the north-west coming south-east to the village then continuing east to Issor. The D132 goes south from the village down the length of the commune following a tortuous mountain route before exiting the southern border of the commune over the Col de la Pierre St Martin (1,760m), which is also the border with Spain, and becoming the Spanish NA-137 which continues to Isaba. The D341 also goes south-east from the village then south, connecting with the D241 at the Col de Labays (1,351m) going east to join the E7 highway south of Sarrance, then continuing along the south-western border to join the D441 south of the commune. The D133 also goes north from the village to Aramits.
It then heads northward into Georgetown. In Georgetown, Route 97 has a brief concurrency of a tenth of a mile with Route 133 before turning northwestward along West Main Street, passing between Rock Pond and Pentucket Pond into Groveland. In Groveland, Route 97 meets Route 113 at the banks of the Merrimack River, where both cross along the Bates Bridge into the city of Haverhill. The two routes pass Merrimack Valley Hospital, Riverside Park and Trinity Stadium (known locally for being the site of an exhibition game featuring Babe Ruth) before continuing along the banks of the Merrimack. At Ginty Boulevard, Route 97 leaves Route 113, continuing to Main Street, where Route 97 turns northward, running as a wrong-way concurrency with Route 125 for one block before turning westward onto Winter Street.
The path continues south through Dockweiler State Beach (which abuts Los Angeles International Airport and the city of El Segundo), El Porto Beach and Manhattan County Beach (both part of the city of Manhattan Beach). A section of the bicycle trail with the Manhattan Beach pier in the background In Hermosa Beach, riders have the choice of either continuing along the Class 1 bicycle path that runs alongside Hermosa Beach (which can get quite busy with pedestrian foot traffic, especially during the summer months) or riding on a Class 2 bicycle lane that runs parallel to Hermosa Avenue. The bike path/pedestrian trail that runs alongside the beach in Hermosa Beach is known as The Strand. The path continues along the beach through Redondo County Beach in the city of Redondo Beach.
On May 19, 1938, the New York State Transit Commission approved a modification in the Q37's route, creating a terminal loop at its Jamaica Avenue terminus instead of having the route make a U-turn on 111th Street. On April 15, 1941, the president and treasurer of Green Bus Lines applied for a franchise to extend the Q37 from the south side of Jamaica Avenue north to Queens Boulevard in Kew Gardens, providing a connection to the Queens Boulevard subway line. Their franchise application called for an extension of the route along 111th Street to Myrtle Avenue, and then along Park Lane South, Park Lane and Union Turnpike to the subway, with buses continuing along Kew Gardens and 80th Road to head back into service in the other direction.
A section of the A31 between Winchester and Ower in Hampshire is now known as the A3090. Prior to completion of the M3 past Winchester in the 1995, the A3090 ran south west from the A33 at Kings Worthy (where the A33 diverted around the Winchester Bypass) to the centre of Winchester, before continuing along the historic route of the A31 from Winchester to Hursley. Here it ended at a junction with the A31, which at this time, having merged with the by-pass east of Winchester, re-emerged from the A33 at Otterbourne and ran to Hursley and on along the current route of the A3090. A short dual carriageway section starts from the A36 roundabout near Ower and terminates just before the A27 multiplex south west of Romsey.
The El turned north after a block onto Harrison Avenue, continuing to Beach Street, where it turned east for its first station, Beach Street, on the block just east of Harrison Avenue. The El turned north on Atlantic Avenue, with its second station, South Station, located just north of East Street, with transfers to the South Station intercity and commuter terminal, and, beginning in 1916, to the Cambridge–Dorchester tunnel (now the Red Line). Next was Rowes Wharf, at Broad Street and High Street, with a transfer to the Boston, Revere Beach and Lynn Railroad via a ferry from Rowes Wharf to East Boston. Continuing along Atlantic Avenue, the next station, at State Street, was named State Street, and had, beginning in 1904, a transfer to the East Boston tunnel (now the Blue Line).
US 309 entered Allentown from the south on Jordan Street (now South 4th Street) and intersected PA 43 at Susquehanna Street, at which point it turned west to join PA 43. US 309/PA 43 curved north on 5th Street and turned west on Auburn Street to intersect PA 29 at Lehigh Street. From here, US 309/PA 29/PA 43 continued north along Lehigh Street, Union Street, and 7th Street to the center of Allentown. PA 145 was first designated in 1928 to run from PA 45 (now PA 248) in Weiders Crossing east to PA 45 (now PA 248) in Bath, heading south along its current alignment and continuing along the river to Cementon, where it turned east and passed through Northampton before continuing to Bath.
The East End Regeneration Route, originally a proposal to supplement the East Flank, has been championed by Glasgow City Council as the preferred solution for completion of the ring. The plans are for a road linking the M74 extension to the M8 at the Provan Gas Works, about east of the interchange at Townhead. It is extremely unlikely that this section would be built to motorway standard; instead the road would form an urban corridor, part of which exists as a road bypassing Parkhead built in 1988 as part of The Forge shopping centre. The road is proposed to run through Hogarth Park (where a former railway embankment is now used as public open space), Haghill and Carntyne, beneath the A8 Edinburgh Road, continuing along a disused railway alignment to Provan.
When Pennsylvania first legislated routes in 1911, what would become PA 23 was designated as Legislative Route 244 between Leacock and Morgantown and Legislative Route 201 between Phoenixville and King of Prussia. In 1927, PA 23 was designated to run from US 230/PA 41/PA 72 (Prince Street) in Lancaster east to City Avenue on the border of Philadelphia. The route followed Walnut Street and New Holland Avenue before continuing along its current alignment between Lancaster and Port Kennedy, where it ran southeast along Gulph Road and Old Gulph Road before turning east along Spring Mill Road and southeast along Morris Avenue, Williamson Road, Old Gulph Road, Mill Creek Road, Conshohocken State Road, and Bala Avenue. When first designated, the entire length of the route was paved.
In this area, the route insects the southern terminus of Maryland Route 208 (38th Street), before continuing along the town line and passing through a mix of residential and commercial areas. US 1 Alternate leaves the boundary between Colmar Manor and Cottage City as it crosses over the Anacostia River just to the southeast of the confluence between its Northeast and Northwest Branches and enters the town of Bladensburg. Immediately after crossing the river, the route's median for its directional Y intersection with the eastern terminus of MD 450 (Annapolis Road), which is the old alignment of US 50 in the capital region of Maryland which heads east into downtown Bladensburg. In the middle of the insection is a Maryland memorial for World War I soldiers known as the Peace Cross.
The Zürichsee–Gotthardbahn (which is listed in Swiss federal statistics as the Rapperswil–Pfäffikon company) commenced operations over the newly built Seedamm (causeway) from Rapperswil to Pfäffikon on 27 August 1878. The ambitious goal of the joint stock company was the construction of a rail link from Eastern Switzerland to the Gotthard Railway (Gotthardbahn, GB) which was still under construction, and continuing along the shore of Lake Lucerne via Vitznau and Küssnacht to Rotkreuz. In 1879 alone, more than 160,000 Swiss francs were invested in planning a projected extension from Pfäffikon to . Steam train on the Seedamm, Rapperswil on the left, mountain panorama in the background The federal government contributed 100,000 francs to the cost of the causeway construction, which included a road and a footpath as well as the railway.
Located about five miles north of New Castle, Virginia, the wilderness is bounded on the west by the crest of Potts Mountain, on the east by Barbour’s Creek and Va 617, and on the south by Forest Service Road 176. The only maintained trail in the area, Lipes Branch Trail, follows along Lipes Branch for 1.7 miles with a trailhead near the Pines Campground. The hike along Lipes Branch Trail can be extended to a total of 2.3 miles by continuing along Lipes Branch beyond the maintained section of Lipes Branch Trail, continuing to the Potts Mountain Jeep Trail, and turning left onto the jeep trail to reach the next knob with a rock outcrop on the right. Another view of the wilderness is gained by hiking along the Potts Mountain Jeep Trail beginning at trailheads on either FS 176 or Va 617.
At the mosque called the Ashrafia they separated, one party proceeding to the Al-Azhar Mosque and the houses of certain sheiks, and the other continuing along the main street and through the gate called Bab Zuweyla, where they turned up towards the Cairo citadel. Here they were fired upon from the surrounding houses by forces loyal to Muhammad Ali Pasha, which was a prelude to a massacre of the ambushed Mamlukes. Falling back towards their companions, the Mamluks found the side streets blocked; and in that part of the main thoroughfare called Bain al-Kasrain they were caught between two fires. Thus shut up in a narrow street, some sought refuge in the collegiate mosque Barkukia, while the remainder fought their way through the encircling cordon, abandoned their horses, and escaped over the city-wall on foot.
Passing above Crissy Field and Fort Point, under the U.S. Highway 101 (US 101) approach to the Golden Gate Bridge, and above Baker Beach, the route exits the Presidio into Sea Cliff. Continuing along El Camino del Mar into Lincoln Park, the route passes the Legion of Honor and exits the park into the Richmond District. Turning westward onto Geary Boulevard, drivers proceed several blocks and continue onto Point Lobos Avenue, soon reaching the Sutro Baths and Cliff House. Stow Lake in Golden Gate Park At , the route proceeds due south along the city's Pacific coast on Great Highway, passing Ocean Beach, the edge of Golden Gate Park, the San Francisco Zoo, and skirting Lake Merced before returning north on Lake Merced Boulevard past San Francisco State University and continuing through the Sunset District along Sunset Boulevard.
Brand transition: AnsaldoBreda T-68 & Bombardier M5000 trams in old and new livery in 2011 When proposals to build a light rail system for Greater Manchester were revealed in 1984, the system was originally described as "Light Rapid Transit", or LRT for short. Artists' impressions of the proposed LRT vehicles depicted them in orange and white livery, bearing the Greater Manchester Transport "M" logo, sharing the same branding as GMT buses of the period. The Metrolink name was first introduced in 1987 in time for the tendering process to build and operate the system. Promotional literature distributed at this time contained new illustrations of the light rail vehicles, depicted with light grey livery, an orange logo which used the Greater Manchester Transport "M" monogram to form the "M" of Metrolink and double orange stripes continuing along the sides of the vehicles.
In April 1802 Baudin met Matthew Flinders, also engaged in charting the coastline, in Encounter Bay in present-day South Australia. Baudin then stopped at the British colony at Sydney for supplies, and from there he sent home the Naturaliste, carrying all of the specimens that had been collected by both ships up to that time. Realising that the Géographe could not venture into some of the shallow waters along the Australian coast that he was intending to survey, he bought a new ship — — named after the wood it was made from, and placed it under the command of Louis de Freycinet, who would 15 years later make his own circumnavigation in the corvette l'Uranie. He then headed back to Tasmania, before continuing along the southern and western coasts of Australia to Timor, mapping as he went.
North of University Avenue, 104 Street is a two-way street with a northbound bus-only lane between University Avenue and 83 Avenue, and being a conventional two-way street between 83 Avenue and Saskatchewan Drive. Calgary Trail (104 Street) and Gateway Boulevard function as the major connection between downtown Edmonton and the Edmonton International Airport; however, they do not directly connect with downtown or cross the North Saskatchewan River. Inbound traffic via Gateway Boulevard and Saskatchewan Drive can be accessed via Queen Elizabeth Park Road which connects with the Walterdale Bridge, or alternatively continuing along Saskatchewan Drive which connects with the James MacDonald Bridge and Low Level Bridge. The main outbound route via 104 Street (Calgary Trail) can be accessed via 109 Street and the High Level Bridge and then following Saskatchewan Drive to connect with southbound 104 Street.
The routes follow Intervale Road briefly before making a left turn to resume onto Parsippany Boulevard. The road crosses over the Jersey City Reservoir, which supplies drinking water to Jersey City, and enters Boonton, where the road becomes Washington Street. This street carries the two routes through residential areas before coming to another interchange with I-287 that also features access to the southbound direction and access from the northbound direction. Past this interchange, US 202 splits from CR 511 by heading to the northeast on Myrtle Avenue. CR 511 northbound leaving downtown Bloomingdale Past US 202, CR 511 continues northwest on Main Street and passes over NJ Transit's Montclair-Boonton Line near the Boonton Station before passing through the commercial downtown of Boonton. CR 511 splits from Main Street by turning north onto Boonton Avenue, with CR 624 continuing along Main Street.
The Livermore Fire Chief, Donald Castonguay, directed his team and community members who had come to observe to get all of the treasures out of the mansion just in case. Thankfully, this precaution was not needed, as the Assistant Chief, Andrew Berry, led the men on the outside to make “trench cuts” in the roof of the barn before it joined with the mansion so that the flames would exit through the roof instead of continuing along the hall floor into the upper levels of the mansion. In addition, he placed a positive pressure fan at the doors of the mansion in order to direct the flames away from the main building. Berry was quoted as saying “The flames stopped where we wanted them to.” The ability to make quick decisions due to preparedness is what spared the rest of the Center; a vital piece of the town's identity and culture.
Continuing along the Pevensey Levels the line passes close to the beach before heading inland at and Collington; this station was originally opened as a halt in 1905, being named in turn Collington Wood Halt, West Bexhill Halt and Collington Halt, before reaching . The route next runs through a cutting to the site of Galley Hill sidings and then running along the coast past Bulverhythe and the depots of the Hastings Diesels and the Southeastern and going through the site of St Leonards (West Marina), closed 1967. The East Coastway line then ends shortly after at Bo- Peep Junction where the Hastings Line from Tonbridge continues through Bo-Peep Tunnel to St Leonards (Warrior Square) and through Hastings Tunnel to . Some trains from London and Brighton continue beyond Hastings to where there is a turnaround siding, the old depot having been closed and re-developed.
U.S. Route 360, which connects Danville with Richmond, enters the city from the east concurrent with U.S. Route 58 (South Boston Road), continuing along U.S. Route 58 Business at the Danville Expressway interchange, and terminating at the North Main Street intersection just north of downtown. U.S. Route 311 in 2013 was expanded from North Carolina to terminate just outside Danville's western limits at U.S. Route 58. North Carolina Highway 86 becomes State Route 86 once it crosses the state line into Danville as South Main Street. It continues north to its terminus at US 29 Business/Central Boulevard. State Route 293 was created in 1998 to mark the route of old US 29 Business, which was rerouted to the west. SR 293 enters Danville's downtown historic district as West Main Street, then Main Street, and then crosses the Dan River to meet US 29 Business as North Main Street.
Trains continuing along the line beyond Sale were required to reverse at the station, or use the Traralgon- Maffra-Stratford line, which avoided Sale altogether. At the peak of operations, the yard had five roads, passenger and goods platforms, a goods shed, a 47-lever signal box, a cattle yard, an engine shed, a coal stage, and a turntable. There was also a short branch line to the Sale Wharf, as well as a number of industrial sidings in the area, serving cool stores, fuel depots, a gas works, a flour mill, woollen mills, and stockyards. After many years of discussions between the local council and rail authorities, the station was relocated in 1983, to a site outside the town, on a new section of track which linked the Melbourne and Stratford lines, without the need to run in and out of the original station.
NY 426 north from NY 474 in French Creek NY 426 begins where the southern segment of PA 426 leaves off at the Pennsylvania state line in French Creek north of Corry, Pennsylvania. The route heads north through rural southwestern Chautauqua County to the small community known as Cutting, where it overlaps NY 474 for a tenth of a mile (0.16 km) westward before resuming its trek northward. Roughly north of Cutting, NY 426 veers to the west to avoid a large ridge situated near Beaver Meadow Brook, a small stream leading to French Creek. The route follows the brook to where it converges with the creek, then parallels French Creek northward toward the waterside hamlet of French Creek. The creek and NY 426 split south of the community, with the creek continuing along French Creek–Mina Road to the hamlet while NY 426 bypasses French Creek to the west.
This section of the path will be a 2.5 metre-wide concrete surface consisting of three bridges, a 40 metre ramp to span a valley, and several boardwalks. Prior to September 2018, trail users wishing to travel from Schwerkolt Cottage to the lower section and to the Main Yarra Trail at Templestowe were required to detour, either by continuing along the Koonung Creek Trail up to Park Road, then north down Park Road using the on-road bicycle lanes, to the lower section. Alternatively, trail users can continue on the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail from Beckett Road to the Heads Road terminus, climb Heads Road to the south-west, and then continue north down Park Road to the lower section. Due to the steep and narrow nature of Heads Road, in addition to lacking a footpath or bicycle lane, trail users may wish to take the former detour.
Their journey took them anticlockwise around the continent, along the Eastern Australian coast through Sydney, Southport, Townsville and Thursday Island, crossing the Gulf of Carpentaria to Darwin, and then continuing along the coast through Broome, Carnarvon, Perth, Albany and Port Lincoln, before arriving back in Victoria. As they flew above Point Cook, twelve RAAF aircraft took to the air to escort them to their landing place at St Kilda Beach, where they were welcomed by a crowd of 10,000 people. alt=Two men being chaired by a crowd of people Prime Minister Stanley Bruce called the expedition "one of the most wonderful accomplishments in the history of aviation", his government presenting Goble with a gift of £500, and £250 to McIntyre. The British Royal Aero Club awarded them the annual Britannia Trophy, and they were appointed Commanders of the Order of the British Empire in the King's Birthday Honours.
In 1923, state routes were first designated in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The route from downtown Norwich to Taftville and Baltic along Harland Road and modern Route 97 was designated as State Highway 187. A loop route of New England Route 12 between Taftville and Jewett City via the village of Newent (partly along modern Route 138) was designated as State Highway 356. In northeastern Connecticut, the route from Putnam to Woodstock and beyond to the Massachusetts state line (partly along modern Route 171) was assigned State Highway 142. In Massachusetts, the road from Southbridge center via Charlton along modern Route 169, then to West Auburn along modern US 20, was assigned as State Highway 124. By 1931, Highway 124 was relocated along roughly modern I-84 from the Connecticut state line in Holland via Sturbridge center to Charlton, then continuing along its original route to West Auburn.
The Braintree Split, technically a "Directional T" type of interchange, is the main road gateway to the South Shore region of Massachusetts, making it a critical point in Boston's highway system. The Southeast Expressway is the single limited access highway traveling south out of Boston, carrying traffic from the city destined for communities in populous Norfolk (659,909 residents) and Plymouth (492,066 residents) counties, partly due to the 1973 cancellation of the planned Southwest Corridor alignment of Interstate 95 into Boston. Drivers other than those headed for parts of Milton and Quincy which straddle the Expressway traverse the split to connect with Route 3 and Route 24 traveling to the more southern localities. Similarly, Boston traffic bound for cities and towns in southeastern Massachusetts including western Norfolk and Bristol County (545,823 residents) and in Rhode Island negotiate the Braintree Split prior to continuing along Route 24 or Interstate 95.
The former alignment south of Middletown became unnumbered at the time but would become part of DE 71 again by 1990. A year later, US 301 was rerouted to follow DE 896 between Mount Pleasant and Boyds Corner, with US 301N being removed from the route between Summit Bridge and Glasgow and US 301 removed from the route between Mount Pleasant and Summit Bridge. In 1988, DE 896 was routed to bypass the University of Delaware campus by heading west along the Christiana Parkway with DE 4 and then northeast on DE 2 before continuing along New London Road. By 1990, DE 2 was routed to follow DE 4 and DE 896 on the Christiana Parkway and DE 2 Bus. was designated along with DE 896 on Elkton Road. In 1992, US 301 was realigned to follow DE 896 between Mount Pleasant and Glasgow.
From the end of that original cut south of Church Avenue, the line was wholly rebuilt as a four-track railroad with express and local stations to a point south of Neptune Avenue at the border of Coney Island, continuing along its original right-of-way to Brighton Beach station. The portion from Church Avenue to Avenue H was placed in a depressed open cut, while the portion from Avenue H to south of Sheepshead Bay was raised onto an earthen embankment, primarily with earth excavated from the open-cut portion and from the Bay Ridge Improvement of the Long Island Rail Road. The separation of the railroad grade allowed the line's trolley wire north of Sheepshead Bay to be replaced with ground-level third rail. The above work by the BGCEC left the line between Park Place and Church Avenue in substantially its original condition from steam railroad days.
Paralleling the Hillsboro Canal its entire length, SR 717 extends from SR 880 and County Road 880 (CR 880) on the eastern edge of the city to the intersection of SR 715 on the western edge of the city. From its northern terminus at SR 715 to the intersection with North Main Street (SR 15-80), SR 717 follows the northern edge of the canal; between SR 15-80 and SR 880-CR 880 it follows the southern edge. Continuing along East Canal Street past the southern terminus of SR 717, a motorist travels eastward on CR 880, itself a former part of SR 880 - which in turn follows the original configuration of U.S. Route 441 (US 441) and SR 80 between Belle Glade and Twenty Mile Bend. Some commercially prepared maps erroneously show a "State Road 717" extending eastward from Pahokee on Muck City Road, but this is, in fact, County Road 717 serving the farmlands surrounding Pelican Lake.
In March 2016, Bush wrote an op-ed for The Washington Post on changes occurring among women in Afghanistan while noting continued violence and calling for American involvement in Afghanistan to be consistent and predictable in continuing along with the international community "to provide significant development assistance in the areas of health care, entrepreneurship and education". In June 2016, Bush stated that she hoped the US remained in Afghanistan and had consulted with women there who feared the departure of American troops would create "a vacuum" similar to Iraq, furthering that the US "would have to start all over again" in the event that they withdrew troops. In late 2017, Bush and First Lady of Afghanistan Rula Ghani traveled to Washington to rally lawmaker support for Afghanistan and women there. In April 2015, Bush criticized Rand Paul's isolationist stance on U.S. foreign aid, calling the view "not really realistic" and asserting the United States should save lives whenever it can.
The château was approached by a long double avenue of trees forming one of three avenues that met at a patte d'oie before the outer gates, which curved inwards to form half of a circle on the ground that was completed by the pattern formed by the three approaching approaches through the town; this nodal feature, with its flanking pavilions, survives, in the town's Place du Cardinal. In the two spandrel shapes enclosed behind the outer walling were matching enclosed outer service courts. Through the arched central gateway the visitor entered the vast basse cour, with common stabling for a hundred horses in a flanking courtyard to the left, with barns and lodgings for gardeners and estate workers, and to the right, an identical courtyard with elite stabling, bakehouse and other offices. Continuing along the axis one passed through a smaller cour d'honneur enclosed by matching ranges each with a central dome and end pavilions.
The word "fugere" shows the urgency about and genuine fear of the predator. Ovid uses the word "fugiunt" in the present tense, showing that the prey is still fleeing its predator. Ovid's use of animals allows us to truly understand exactly what is happening in the moments between Daphne and Apollo. He is able to relate the characteristics of the animals to the characters in his story. Ovid writes, “hostēs quaeque suōs” meaning, “each flees its own enemies”. This shows us the severity of the situation she is in; Daphne doesn’t just view Apollo as someone who is in love with her, but instead as an enemy. Ovid also continues on to write, “amor est mihi causa sequendi” meaning “love is the reason of following for me”. Continuing along with Ovid’s use of animals to portray Apollo and Daphne’s relationship, this quote allows us to see how Apollo is following Daphne. The word “following” brings a sense of stalking, as an animal would stalk its prey.
The next three interchanges only provide partial access to the roads they link to. Exit 3A, which lacks a westbound exit ramp, provides access to Southwest Boulevard; exit 3B to 21st Street and Union Avenue and exit 4A to 17th Street and Southwest Boulevard, provide only a westbound exit and eastbound entrance. North of exit 4A, I-244 and US-75 cross the Arkansas River. Exit 4B marks I-244's entry into the Inner Dispersal Loop (IDL), a ring of freeways encircling downtown Tulsa. At exit 4B, the southwest corner of the loop, US-75 splits away from I-244, joining I-444, which begins at this interchange and proceeds along the south and east edges of the loop. US-64 and SH-51 westbound join I-244 at this interchange, continuing along the west side of the loop with the interstate. Two partial interchanges, exits 4C and 5A, provide access to downtown Tulsa streets. I-244 then reaches the northwest corner of the IDL.
A version of the Jireček-Line borders The Jireček Line is a conceptual boundary through the ancient Balkans that divides the influence of the Latin (in the north) and Greek (in the south) languages in the Roman Empire from Antiquity until the 4th century. A possible rough outline of it goes from near the city of Laçi in modern Albania to Serdica (now Sofia, in Bulgaria) and then follows the Balkan Mountains to Odessus (Varna) on the Black Sea or continuing along the coastline northwards to the Danube Delta. The placement of the line is based on archaeological findings as most of the inscriptions found to the north of it are written in Latin, and most of the inscriptions found to the south of it are in Greek. The proposed line, in its various forms, is a theoretical tool and already in antiquity there were significant exceptions: there were Hellenized groups north of the line (e.g.
West of Bromley Road, Ringway 2 would have followed a westerly alignment, crossing the River Ravensbourne, and running across more sports fields and the northern corner of Beckenham Place Park to a junction with Beckenham Hill Road (A2015) near Stumpshill Wood where it would have left the London Borough of Lewisham and re-entered the London Borough of Bromley. From Beckenham Hill Road, Ringway 2 would have continued through more open land towards Lower Sydenham station where the motorway would have turned south to run along the side of the railway line past New Beckenham station. Here the route would have followed the railway line (now occupied by Tramlink) south-west towards Birkbeck station where a junction would have been built to connect to Elmers End Road (A214). Continuing along the railway line south-west of Birkbeck station, the motorway would have skirted the northern side of Beckenham Cemetery and entered the London Borough of Croydon.
Continuing along Church Street north of Bartow, US 221/SR 171 stays relatively north as it curves back and forth through western Jefferson County, passing through a few agricultural areas, and residential zones, as well as the occasional church, but mainly forestland with some wetlands hidden in the trees. The one exception to this is a dip in the road approaching a culvert over a small river leading to Cobb Lake. Near Almira the road seems as if it's about to end at a west to east road surrounded by more farmland, but instead turns right and joins a concurrency with Georgia State Route 24. From that point on, US 221/SRs 24/171 curves to the east-northeast as they approach a bridge over the Ogeechee River, and the forested marshland that surround the river. The concurrency with SR 171 finally ends at Grange Road, which runs northwest, but US 221/SR 24 crosses another bridge over a tributary to the Ogeechee River before entering Louisville.
The following morning (17 October) he followed the coast NNW, and when he was two leagues distant from the end (or "the cape") of the island, he found a "wonderful harbor" with a small island in its mouth forming two narrow entrances. Going into the harbor with boats, he found it too shallow for use and put the boats ashore for water instead. Leaving the harbor after two hours, he then sailed northwest (rather than the previous NNW) "so far that I viewed all that part of the island as far as the coast that runs east-west".Dunn & Kelley 14r39-41 Thus there are four coastlines described at Island III: from the arrival cape, one coast runs SSW, one runs NNW; following the second coast NNW, Columbus arrived at a harbor; continuing along that coast, the coastline runs NW, and then W. These four coastlines and harbor are an essentially perfect fit with the southern part of Long Island.
U.S. Route 74 Alternate (US 74A) was established in 1994, replaced the old mainline US 74 route when US 74 was moved onto the Solon David Smart Memorial Highway and I-26. The alignment of US 74A varies greatly from the current parent route. US 74A traverses through downtown Asheville, goes through the mountain resort communities of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure, continues to Ruth, passes between the towns of Rutherfordton and Spindale, and bypasses Forest City to the south. US 74, joins I-40 eastbound west of Asheville, and switches onto I-26 eastbound through Fletcher, bypassing most of urban Asheville. Continuing along a southeasterly course, the parent US 74 passes by Hendersonville and splits from I-26 at Columbus; after passing south of Rutherfordton, US 74 meets the eastern terminus of US 74A. US 74A is concurrent with US 64 from Ruth in the east through Lake Lure, where NC 9 joins, and Chimney Rock; the three routes separate in Bat Cave.
SR 74 begins at an interchange with I-5 in the city of San Juan Capistrano and heads east as the Ortega Highway, loosely paralleling San Juan Creek. The highway leaves the San Juan Capistrano city limits and turns northeast, going through the community of Rancho Mission Viejo and entering Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park and eventually Cleveland National Forest. After going through San Juan Hot Springs, SR 74 enters Riverside County. The highway continues winding through the Santa Ana Mountains and passes through the community of El Cariso before descending into the city of Lake Elsinore. SR 74 continues northwest on Grand Avenue before continuing northeast on Riverside Drive and continuing along the shore of Lake Elsinore. The road continues southeast on Collier Avenue before continuing northeast on Central Avenue and intersecting I-15. SR 74 leaves the city of Lake Elsinore and continues through unincorporated Riverside County before turning east and entering Perris. After traveling through downtown, SR 74 merges with I-215 and runs concurrently with I-215 before exiting the freeway as Matthews Road.
The only two interchanges were with Route 3 east of the Big River (a diamond interchange) and with Route 2 at its east end (a four- ramp interchange providing half the ramps of a cloverleaf).Rhode Island Department of Transportation, Interstate Highway Opening Dates right The Interstate 95 designation was approved on June 27, 1958.Official Route Numbering for the National System of Interstate and Defense Highways, as adopted by the American Association of State Highway Officials, approved June 27, 1958 The section in southern Rhode Island was temporarily designated Route 95 until it could be upgraded to a freeway. This route ran from the Connecticut state line along what had been Route 84, continuing along the Relocated Route 3 to north of Richmond, along normal Route 3 to Kitts Corner, and along the new freeway east to Route 2. As much as possible, Route 3 was moved back to the old road; it only used the new freeway by necessity in the area near Kitts Corner and over the Big River.
The Southwest Expressway and the Inner Belt highways were among the Sargent-canceled highways. Original 1955 Yellow Book plan showing the southwestern routing of I-95 to the Inner Belt. The modern I-95 follows the outer belt shown on this map (now considered the "inner" Route 128 compared to the "outer" I-495 which is not shown, and which started construction two years after the study). Between 1972 and 1974, plans were to extend I-95 along a northerly extension of the Northeast Expressway to Route 128 in northwestern Danvers. During this time, I-95 was officially routed along Route 128 from Canton to Braintree and north along the Southeast Expressway (also designated Route 3), from Braintree to Boston, then following the Central Artery, and continuing along the Northeast Expressway in Boston, Chelsea and Revere. When the Northeast Expressway extension (between Saugus and Danvers) was canceled in 1974, I-95's route shifted to its current routing along the perimeter highway (Route 128) and I-93 was extended to meet I-95 in Canton.
Continuing along these lines, Castronovo argues that "Yoga" serves as a stage in the development of the writer in the 50s—"the artist as tough guy"—particularly apropos to Mailer as one "who has to move out of his accustomed mode" and try something new: "Mailer was probably the first major figure in our national letters to realize that writers could no longer be writers in that old, rocked-ribbed, self- confident sense". The new phase of a Sam Slovoda is, for Mailer, a Hipster—one prepared for risk, violence, opportunity, and pleasure. In his advertisement for "The Man Who Studied Yoga", Mailer states that it had originally been conceived as a novel that is "a descendent of Moby Dick", and taking that cue, Frederick Busch argues that it has a direct connection. Busch suggests that both writers were divided about truths as they saw them and the current state of their respective times: he continues that the works and narrators reflect these divisions, relaying autobiographical anxieties at the same time they are creating art.
According to an interview conducted by U.S. DOE (osti.gov) and other news media, he was motivated to work on emergent quantum phenomena and the Standard Model analogs in materials following scientific exchanges with his Princeton colleague Philip W. Anderson in the early 2000s. In a 2009 news release published by the U.S. National Science Foundation, Anderson commented on Hasan’s early career work : "As a technical achievement, or a series of physics achievements alone, it is pretty spectacular," "For theoreticians," Anderson added, "the observation of such quantum effect (phenomena) is both interesting and significant." Continuing along the same line of research but more broadly on quantum matter he published several high-impact (highly cited) papers and in 2017 he was invited to deliver the Sir Nevill Mott (Nobel Laureate ’77) lecture series in physics, UC-Berkeley Miller Institute professorship lectures in science, the S.N. Bose seminar (endowed lecture series) in fundamental physics, Aspen public lecture, ICTP, HKUST and many other endowed or public lectures, colloquia and plenary talks around the world.
Upon reaching Vine Street, passing a statue of Ambassador Andrew Young, a look to the left on the street axis at Thurmond Street reveals a statue of Coretta Scott King, and to the right on the Joseph E. Boone Boulevard axis is a statue of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., who looks south towards his alma mater, Morehouse College. Walking south, passing the wading pool, you will see a civic square with a reconstructed Carnegie Library building. Continuing along the walk, you come across the statue of Booker T. Washington, who faces across the oval his historical counterpart, W.E.B. DuBois. Continuing uphill to the Peace Column, you will reach at its base a statue of Mayor Livingston Mims, the original park founder. Climbing the staircase to the Peace Column terrace, the park’s highest point, you will discover statues of Civil Rights leaders including the Honorable Maynard Jackson, Reverend Ralph David Abernathy, the Honorable Julian Bond, and the Honorable Rodney Mims Cook, Sr. An elevator ride takes you up 80 feet to the top of the Peace Column, where the nearby Sunset Avenue Historic District is clearly visible.
