Nude rider complaints are recorded in Coventry, England, where 21 riders proceeded naked through the town; Salt Lake City; Murfreesboro, Tennessee (claimed to be the first nude motorcycle rally); Providence, Rhode Island; and southern Sweden.

The site is managed by the San Bernardino National Forest and is maintained by a volunteer group, the Deep Creek Volunteers. Water from the creek or pools is not advised for consumption. The hot pools contain a rare and sometimes fatal disease called primary amoebic meningoencephalitis.

Also on Sulina and Sfântu Gheorghe, Tulcea (Danube Delta) there are a few wild beaches used for nudism. The cold baths in the Techirghiol lake (Baile Reci Techirghiol) in Eforie Nord offer a separated clothing optional beach. Toplessness is tolerated on all Romanian beaches .

In 1969, Harbinger had about 120 people, but ultimately, the community did not thrive. As of 2012, the clothing-optional retreat center was known as an outdoor spa with a New Age ambiance, where Watsu was developed. The resort was evacuated because of the Valley Fire on September 12, 2015. By September 14, Harbin was almost completely destroyed by the fire with only the pool complex largely intact.

It provides a snapshot of liberated pre-AIDS sexual morality. In preparation for writing the book, Talese resided for several months at clothing-optional resort Sandstone Retreat.

Haulover Beach, Florida, United States A nude beach, sometimes called a clothing-optional or free beach, is a beach where users are at liberty to be nude. Nude beaches usually have mixed bathing. Such beaches are usually on public lands, and any member of the public is allowed to use the facilities without membership in any movement or subscription to any personal belief. The use of the beach facilities is normally anonymous.

In other countries, like Denmark, most beaches are clothing- optional. Nude swimming is one of the most common forms of nudity in public. A nude beach should not be confused with a topless beach (or top-free beach), where upper body clothing is not required for women or men, although a swimming costume covering the genital area is required for both men and women. A nude beach should be considered as a clothes-free beach.

Beaches (in order from north to south) are: North Shore, Town Beach, Oxley Beach, Rocky Beach, Flynns Beach, Nobbys Beach, Shelly Beach, Miners Beach (unofficial clothing-optional ) and Lighthouse Beach. Only Town, Flynns and Lighthouse Beaches are manned by Surf Life Saving Clubs. Lighthouse Beach is patrolled at only the northern end. Women reasserted the right to uncover their breasts in public, which had been the norm until the 17th century. Uretiti Beach is popular for swimming, surfing, and fishing, and a well-known clothing-optional beach and gay cruising site.

Nude beach users continue onto the non-nude North Unit Beach which is poorly delineated and ineffectively screened from view, which has led to a legal complaint by the property owners. Collins Beach is one of two official clothing-optional beaches in Oregon after Glass Bar Island's in Eugene, Oregon closed. The other is Rooster Rock State Park. It is administered by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife in cooperation with the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.

The Eastern Walkway runs along the top of the Bay and has views of the area. It is mostly well known for being a clothing optional beach, which is shared by naturists and clothed people alike.

In the early 1990s, Spagg attracted local and national media attention with Jim Spagg's Sex Show, a call-in cable TV program that contained uncensored nudity. Harbin has been a center for the development of new modes of healing and personal development, including Watsu (water shiatsu), a massage technique created by Harold Dull at Harbin in the early 1980s. Watsu, based on gently moving the body through water, is now practiced in spas throughout the world.

AANR-affiliated (chartered) clubs include both nudist resorts and naturist social clubs that agree to AANR principles and standards. There are a wide range of various types of nudist resorts and clubs affiliated with AANR that are as individual as their members and visitors. So long as they meet AANR principles and standards by endeavor to provide a friendly, stress free atmosphere where people enjoy social nude recreation with their family and friends. Ranging from clothing optional to no clothes allowed.

The beaches along the Atlantic shore of Sandy Hook—North Beach, Gunnison Beach and the Southern Beaches, A, B, C, D, E—feature parking lots, lifeguards, rest rooms and seasonal concession stands. Gunnison Beach, Sandy Hook Gunnison Beach is a beach within the Sandy Hook unit of the Fort Hancock and the Sandy Hook Proving Ground Historic District which is the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area, on the Atlantic coast of New Jersey. It is located in Middletown Township, Monmouth County, but is on federal land managed by the National Park Service. It is New Jersey's only legal clothing-optional beach. It takes its name from adjacent Battery Gunnison, which visitors must pass next to in order to get to and from the beach.

However, none of the other projects came to fruition, and instead he moved to New York City to pursue opportunities in the much larger American film and theatre industry. In July 1998, the Church held a large devival at a "clothing-optional" campground in Sherman, New York, attended by about 400 members. The event was ostensibly to celebrate the coming of aliens. When their appearance was not detected using the technology available at the time, Stang speculated that they might arrive in 8661, an inversion of 1998; this has been interpreted as a satire of the way that religious groups have revised prophecies after their failures. Some critics have dismissed the event as a prank or "performance art".

Both beaches, like a large percentage of the locality, lie within the Tomaree National Park.

Hippie Hollow Park, a county park situated along Lake Travis, is the only officially sanctioned clothing-optional public park in Texas. Hamilton Pool Preserve is a natural pool that was created when the dome of an underground river collapsed due to massive erosion thousands of years ago. The pool, located about 23 miles (37 km) west of Austin, is a popular summer swimming spot for visitors and residents. Hamilton Pool Preserve consists of 232 acres (0.94 km2) of protected natural habitat featuring a jade green pool into which a 50-foot (15 m) waterfall flows.

Nude people wading in the sea Nude recreation refers to recreational activities which some people engage in while nude. Historically, the ancient Olympics were nude events. There remain some societies in Africa, Oceania, and South America that continue to engage in everyday public activities —including sports— without clothes, while in most of the world nude activities take place in either private spaces or separate clothing optional areas in public spaces. Occasional events, such as nude bike rides, may occur in public areas where nudity is not otherwise allowed.

In South Africa specific clothing laws exist for the general public. Nudity is treated under indecent exposure. On 3 April 2015 the country's first official clothing optional beach, Mpenjati Beach near Trafalgar in KwaZulu-Natal, opened after the Hibiscus Coast Local Municipality approved the South African Nudist Association's (SANNA) application. Although nudity has gradually been tolerated on Sandy Bay in Cape Town after the National Party (NP) lost the election in 1994, and strict enforcement of its moral values is no longer applied, it is not an official legally recognised public nude beach.

Naturism may be practiced individually, within a familial or social context, or in public. Ethical or philosophical nudism has a long history, with many advocates of the benefits of enjoying nature without clothing. At the turn of the 20th century, organizations emerged to promote social nudity and to establish private campgrounds and resorts for that purpose. Since the 1960s, with the acceptance of public places for clothing-optional recreation, individuals who do not identify themselves as naturists or nudists have been able to casually participate in nude activities.

To the south of Għajn Tuffieħa Bay is the first part of Ġnejna Bay. This beach can only be reached by first going through Għajn Tuffieħa Bay, then climbing up a hill and finally making a descend along some rather steep paths between the rocks. The beach and especially the small stone promontory of this part of Ġnejna Bay is used as a clothing optional beach as well as a long-time gay-friendly area. This part of the bay is hidden from the main part of Ġnejna Bay.

Pineglades Naturist Club is a naturist resort located in Rolleston, some southwest of Christchurch in the South Island of New Zealand. It is situated on of landscaped parkland and comprises a clubhouse with recreational and camping facilities, an arboretum with nature walks, and approximately 60 baches, of which a small number are available for hire (the remainder being club members' holiday residences). Facilities include a swimming pool, spa and sauna complex, a lounge bar, a children's playground, and sports courts. Pineglades is clothing-optional and open throughout the year.

Adult-only sex-friendly resorts have become more popular as younger travelers want to experience consensual sex abroad while avoiding ethical issues of prostitution. Those resorts are characterized as the safe, consensual space of adult and sex-positive nature where all expressions of gender, orientation, and relationships are free of any pressure. Largely in Mexico and the Caribbean, they can include clothing-optional resorts with spaces where travelers can meet others and make use of "playrooms". Nudist resorts however are not intended to be places for overt sexual activity.

A nude rugby match was held in Dunedin each winter from 2002 to 2014 as pre-match entertainment for the first professional rugby game of the season. While the event is most often celebrated in secluded areas, BFC first kicked off the event with its trademark "guerrilla pranksterism" and did a photo shoot in a public park. In another year, Storey and Gabriel enlisted the help of local free beach users at an unofficial clothing-optional beach park on Lake Washington, in Seattle. Many people choose not to venture beyond the relative safety of non-public areas. During the fifth annual World Naked Gardening Day in the United Kingdom, celebrated in 2010, organizers encouraged people to go naked either in their private gardens or in public parks.

When A J Hackett opened the world's first commercial bungee jumping site at Kawarau Bridge near Queenstown, New Zealand, customers who performed the jump in the nude were granted free entry. This offer was later withdrawn because too many jumpers were taking advantage of it, but the site remains clothing-optional. Billy Connolly famously bungee-jumped nude from the bridge during his 2004 World Tour of New Zealand. Since 2006 there has been an annual naked bungee jump at WildPlay park on Vancouver Island as a fund raiser for the Victoria Branch of BC Schizophrenia Society.

Saint-Tropez's Tahiti Beach, which had been popularised in the film And God Created Woman featuring Brigitte Bardot, emerged as a clothing-optional destination, but the mayor of Saint-Tropez ordered police to ban toplessness and to watch over the beach via helicopter. The "clothing fights" between the gendarmerie and nudists become the main topic of a famous French comedy film series, Le gendarme de Saint- Tropez (The Troops of St. Tropez) featuring Louis de Funès. In the end, the nudist side prevailed. Topless sunbathing is now the norm for both men and women from Pampelonne beaches to yachts in the centre of Saint-Tropez port.

For women who cannot dispense with a swimsuit, they at times tan with the back strap undone while lying on the front, or removing shoulder straps, besides wearing swimsuits which cover less area than their normal clothing. Any exposure is subject to local community standards and personal choice. Some people tan in the privacy of their backyard where they can at times tan without clothes, and some countries have set aside clothing-optional swimming areas (popularly known as nude beaches), where people can tan and swim clothes-free. Some people tan topless, and others wear very brief swimwear, such as a microkini or thong.

It was more of transition than a sale since Carol and Larry ensured that the property was sold to someone who would continue to develop the park as a naturist club. The park was renamed Bare Oaks Family Naturist Park for a variety of marketing reasons and as a wordplay on their last name. (Deschênes is French for ‘of the oaks’.) The club is recognized by the International Naturist Federation, the Federation of Canadian Naturists, the Fédération Québécoise de Naturisme, the American Association for Nude Recreation, and The Naturist Society. Bare Oaks adheres to naturist principles and rejects clothing-optional policies in favour of mandating nudity for all members and visitors.

The beach lies on the shore of the Pacific Ocean in the northwest of the city. It is roughly a long, beginning just south of Golden Gate Point (where the Golden Gate Bridge connects with the peninsula), extending southward toward the Seacliff peninsula, the Palace of the Legion of Honor and the Sutro Baths. The northern section of Baker Beach is "frequented by clothing-optional sunbathers," and as such it is considered a nude beach.

The couple became, for a short time, the resident gardening experts on ITV's This Morning, but the timing was not good: within a few weeks the show was struck by the sex scandal that engulfed presenter John Leslie. In August 2005, and again in 2006, Abbey House Gardens hosted what were thought to be the first 'Clothes Optional Days' at a major inland British tourist attraction. Naturists from all over the country flocked to the gardens, and as many as two-thirds of the visitors on those day enjoyed the gardens in the nude. Similar clothing-optional days are held regularly a few times a year.

The interaction between the Greek classical and later Abrahamic traditions has resulted in Western ambivalence, with nudity acquiring both positive and negative meanings in individual psychology, in social life, and in depictions such as art. While public modesty prevails in more recent times, organized groups of nudists or naturists emerged with the stated purpose of regaining a natural connection to the human body and nature, sometimes in private spaces but also in public. Naturism in the United States, meanwhile, remains largely confined to private facilities, with few "clothing optional" public spaces compared to Europe. In spite of the liberalization of attitudes toward sex, Americans remain uncomfortable with complete nudity.

Wolfie Cohen's Rascal House was established after the original Wolfie's, another famous Jewish deli and restaurant in Miami Beach, started by Wolfie Cohen on the corner of Lincoln Road and Collins Avenue in South Beach and another at 21st Street and Collins Avenue, a few blocks North. For several years, Wolfie's featured a sign that read "The only thing that needs to come dressed is our chickens!"Death of a Deli (meaning dining was casual, not clothing optional).

The only public place in Mexico that officially allows female toplessness is Playa Zipolite (a nude beach located in the state of Oaxaca), where the practice of naturism was legalized in 2016. However, the practice of topless sunbathing (as well as naturism in some cases) is commonly tolerated on a few beaches in the state of Quintana Roo, more precisely in the Riviera Maya region (especially between the cities of Playa del Carmen and Tulum); furthermore, there are a few clothing-optional resorts made for adults only (also located in the Riviera Maya) where all men and women aged 18 (or older) can frequent the facilities without the need to wear clothes (if so they wish).

Originally including the current Torrey Pines State Beach, Black's Beach was the first and only public nude beach in the country for several years in the mid-1970s. Because Black's Beach was traditionally recognized as a clothing-optional beach, nudity is tolerated for the portion of the beach that is managed by the state park. Until 1977, the city portion of Black's Beach was posted as "swimsuit optional"; in that year, nudity was prohibited on that part of the beach.

The Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions, a liberal research institute, offered Comfort a job, and so, during 1973, the couple relocated to Santa Barbara, California, where it was located. They frequented the Sandstone Retreat, a clothing-optional community in California espousing "open sexuality", or swinging. In his 1981 nonfiction publication concerning sexuality in America, Thy Neighbor's Wife, Gay Talese noted, "Often the nude biologist Dr. Alex Comfort, brandishing a cigar, traipsed through the room between the prone bodies with the professional air of a lepidopterist strolling through the fields waving a butterfly net". Jane Henderson, however, eventually became tired of the "open love" community and Comfort became involved in lawsuits with his employer concerning a claimed breach of contract.

Several activists, such as Vincent Bethell, claim that associations to promote naturism or nudism are unnecessary, leading only to "nudity in tolerated ghettos". Activist Daniel Johnson believes that labels and affiliations overly complicate a relatively simple phenomenon, alienate others from a fear of over-commitment or undesirable stereotypes, and thus get in the way of integrating nudity into everyday life.

A naturist community is an intentional community whose members choose to live together and practise naturism on a permanent basis. Naturist communities were once referred to as nudist colonies, and this term still exists in popular culture, but it is avoided by most naturists today due to negative connotations. Naturist resorts and communities exist on a spectrum without sharp distinctions – a naturist resort might be primarily commercial in focus but also accommodate some permanent residents, while a naturist community might be primarily residential but also cater to some paying visitors. Some naturist resorts and communities require nudity as a condition of remaining on the site; others are clothing-optional, allowing people to wear clothing so long as they tolerate others going nude.

The current is mildly hazardous for swimmers who venture far southwards from the tip towards the open sea, as it could be difficult to swim back west towards the beach (the swimmer being well over from the coast); the danger is not severe, however, as the standard current would carry the swimmer back east towards the harbor of Bol (and the beaches on the promontory of land that lies between Zlatni Rat and the town). A reliable afternoon westerly wind known as a Maestral has made the beach a destination for windsurfers. The pine tree grove which borders the beach is home to the remnants of a Roman villa rustica, which included a swimming pool. The westernmost edge of the beach, and several coves to the west of the main beach, are traditionally clothing- optional.

Mark Storey is a board member of the Naturist Action Committee and has testified at anti-nudity legislation hearings all over the United States. As editor for Nude & Natural, the magazine of The Naturist Society, he has written various narratives of the naturist events he has participated in or helped organize, as well as places he has traveled to. He wrote an article on the nude beaches of Long Island on the east coast and participated in the Fremont Fresh Air Festival along with two other intrepid clothesfree activists as nude bicyclers to much media attention. He is a founding member of the Body Freedom Collaborative in Seattle whose goal is to bring attention for the need for legal clothing-optional beaches through "guerilla pranksterism", among other approaches.

According to Mr. Hoffman, when the Fort opened as a park in 1975, the northern end of Fort Hancock / Sandy Hook was closed off to normal visitation. The boundary line began at the former MP Station, then used as the USNPS Ranger Station, located in the middle of Hartshorne Drive between present-day parking areas D and E. Visitors could proceed beyond this point after receiving a day pass and instruction from the Rangers. Per Mr. Hoffman, it was the public's gradual discovery of Gunnison Beach's secluded geography, that fostered its use a clothing optional beach, which grew over time. Pressed by the urban legend of an "army nude beach," Mr. Hoffman, who has spent over 40 years of service at Fort Hancock, and has met and interviewed dozens, if not hundreds of veterans of Fort Hancock from the Spanish American War-era through to the Cold War.

Bob Morton is an electrical engineer and Chairman/Executive Director of the Naturist Action Committee, an organization dedicated to defending the civil rights of the naturist community. As editor of publisher who published one of the first club newsletters for the Hill Country Nudists, in addition to writing about everyday club events, Morton also discussed serious issues regarding the nudist movement and also instituted the policy of printing the full names of members in the newsletter, an unusual practice in the days when the editors of nudist publications were not allowed to use last names of club members. Morton and his family were plaintiffs in a NAC-supported lawsuit to return the rights of parents who wish to bring their children with them to Hippie Hollow, a clothing-optional public park near Austin, Texas. Morton has also testified before various state legislative committees on behalf of naturists, and has been chairman of NAC since 1997.

WNBR riders in London World Naked Bike Rides (WNBRs) are annual clothing- optional bike rides in which each city's participants plan, meet and ride en masse on human-powered transport to "deliver a vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world" by attracting attention to a healthy alternative for vehicles that depend on fossil fuels; the naked body is used as a symbol for the vulnerability of humans to pollution, and of cyclists to the traffic in cities. WNBRs have taken place all over the world since 2004 involving thousands of people. These take place in mostly western cities, where cyclists ride either partially or totally nude in a light-hearted attempt to draw attention to the danger of depending on fossil fuels. In spite of the lighthearted atmosphere, the annual World Naked Bike Rides are probably the most visible expression of the effort to promote healthier transport modes, including walking, cycling and public transport, which have been a mainstay of green-alternative politics for decades, while no politician of the conservative or social democrat traditions appeal to people to drive less, buy fewer cars, and get on their bikes instead.
