Joyu's group, called Hikari no Wa ("The Circle of Light"), claims to be committed to uniting science and religion and creating "the new science of the human mind", having previously aimed to move the group away from its criminal history and toward its spiritual roots. The Milton Keynes Development Corporation had an ambitious public art programme and over 50 works were commissioned, mostly still extant. This programme also had two strands: a populist one which involved the local community in the works, the most famous of which is Liz Leyh's Concrete Cows, a group of concrete Friesian cows which have become the unofficial logo of the town. There is also a tradition of abstract geometrical art hanging in the Midsummer Arcade of the Shopping Building, Central Milton Keynes. One such piece is Lilliane Lijn's "Circle of Light", though its mechanism has not worked for many years.

CEO and lead scientist Dr. Emil Harting tells Ray he is the first successful human subject of the "Bloodshot" program, resurrecting and healing him through the injection of experimental nanite technology now occupying his entire bloodstream. This technology increases his strength and heals his injuries, but the nanites need to be regularly replaced and recharged or he will eventually succumb to damage and die again. When the nanites work at extreme power, they create a red glowing circle of light on Ray's chest.

One of the earliest investigations into this phenomenon was by Ján Andrej Segner, a German physicist and mathematician. Following the release of When The Circle of Light Begins to Fade the band toured Australia to celebrate their 10-year anniversary and also released a free E.P entitled Sombre Light 2014 - 10th Anniversary E.P which contained re- recordings of material from their debut album The Sombre Light of Isolation. This release was also follow by national tours with Anathema, Amorphis and Uriah Heep. The band release Circle of Live live album/DVD in March 2015 which was also recorded on the band's 10th Anniversary tour in 2013. The band parted ways with guitarist Brad Cook in late 2015 and Martin Curtis-Powell has since become a full-time member of the band.

Kiranjit's case helped raise awareness of domestic violence in families of non-English-speaking immigrants to Western countries and changed the laws for domestic abuse victims in the United Kingdom. Her case, known in British legal textbooks as R v Ahluwalia, changed the definition of the word "provocation" in cases of battered women to reclassify her crime as manslaughter, instead of murder, the same year as her appeal, lead to the freeing of Emma Humphreys and Sara Thornton. Kiranjit was honoured in 2001 at the first Asian Women Awards in recognition of her "strength, personal achievements, determination and commitment" in helping to bring to light the subject of domestic violence. She wrote an autobiography with coauthor Rahila Gupta, Circle of Light.

Subsequently becoming acquainted with members of the New England Pagan community, she undertook fieldwork in both a local Wiccan coven, the Circle of Light, and a wider Pagan organisation, the EarthSpirit Community (ESC). ECA2 has managed productions for many events, including the 25th Anniversary of the United Arab Emirates in 1996, the 1998 FIFA World Cup Ceremonies in Stade de France, the Eiffel Tower Millennium Show, the 2003 All-Africa Games in Abuja Stadium, Nigeria, and the "Luz y voces del Tajin" in Veracruz, Mexico, 2002 to 2004. Other ceremonies include the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the 2004 Summer Paralympics in Athens"A Disneyland in Noida neighbourhood". Times of India, TNN Apr 23, 2005, and the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, Royal Weddings in Qatar, the 2011 Summer Universiade, Shenzhen, the 50th Anniversary of Togo's Independence in 2011, and the "Circle of Light Festival" on the Red Square in, Moscow in 2012. ECA2 has also produced a number of permanent shows, beginning in 1998 with "Poseidon's Fury" at Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando.

At one point, the Oedipus figure shot arrows across the full throw of the backstage area at a circle of light as the Jocasta character looked on. In 2000, Counts was invited to direct Gertrude Stein’s Listen to Me at the CalArts Center for New Performance in Valencia, California. The production featured three iterations of the same three characters: a man dressed alternately in a snowsuit and a schoolboy’s uniform; a woman also appearing in multiple incarnations including an opulent 18th century white wig topped by a silver model of a three-masted sailing ship; and an art museum guard.

Helen Berger, then an assistant professor at Boston University, first became involved in the study of the Pagan movement in October 1986, when she gave a series of public lectures on the subject of the historical witch trials of New England at the Boston Public Library. She devoted the final lecture to the subject of contemporary Pagan Witches, or Wiccans, who were living in the area, taking her information both from the information published in the works of Margot Adler, Starhawk and Marcello Truzzi, and also from a singular interview that she had carried out with a woman who was "peripherally associated" with Paganism. After the lecture, several audience members approached Berger to identify themselves as practicing Wiccans, and it was through them that she came into contact with the New England Pagan community.
