Even after obtaining a building as the best possible fit in the coastal town of Bobbili, infestation of snakes and bats posed a problem for the crew. In addition, the building was not strong enough to support the filming equipment. Though mainly impacting rural areas at first, it badly damaged four wood homes and blew down many trees with resultant F1 damage. The tornado appeared reddish to eyewitnesses as it passed through rugged terrain. As it crossed near SR 100, the tornado produced major roof damage to a few homes and destroyed a pair of chicken coops.

Over the years, as participation grew, a series of small wooden cabins were constructed in an area around the Appel home. Albert, a violinist, invited guest artists to perform and to instruct the children. Ragsdale Farm, also known as Magnolia Farms, is a historic farm and national historic district located near Jamestown, Guilford County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 13 contributing buildings, 2 contributing sites, and 4 contributing structures on a mid-20th century "gentleman's farm." They include the Ragsdale House (1880, 1900, 1948), a large two-story, Colonial Revival- style frame dwelling; granary, garage / wood shed; dog house; two chicken coops; fowl house; corn crib; privy; pump house; well house; cow barn; tenant house; and the domestic and agricultural landscapes. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.

Warburg, one of the leaders of the Jewish community in the United States and a founder of the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee. It was founded on land that had traditionally belonged to the depopulated Palestinian village of Qastina. Overall, the tornado was most destructive at Indian Springs and soon weakened as it continued northeast through wooded lands; however, its path briefly widened. It killed two people in a trailer along Georgia State Route 140 in Bartow County and snapped tall pine trees nearby. Though the wide tornado impacted forested areas, it still caused major damage to 10 mobile homes and six permanent homes, as well as damage to four unspecified vehicles. Henceforth, the tornado continued to weaken to F2 intensity and contracted to wide as it passed into Pickens County, severely damaging 10–15 chicken coops along with 20–25 homes of brick and wood construction.

In the 18th century, an aqueduct with quarry arches pouring water into a fountain in the main square was built in the city. Wealthy miners like the Irigoyen and Carbonel decorated their mansions with luxurious furniture, magnificent paintings, silverware and beautiful porcelain.

As of 2004, 269 of the 501 properties included in the district (54%) are contributing historic buildings, 181 (36%) are non- contributing historic buildings (altered or synthetically sided) and 51 (10%) are non-contributing buildings constructed since 1950. The additions or portions of additions included within the Capitol View Historic District, listed chronologically according to the dates they were first platted, are: Worthen's Subdivision, Capitol Hill Extension, Plunkett's Second Addition, the northwest corner of E.M. Phillips Addition, Ferndale Addition, Capitol View and Union Depot (platted the same year), Virginia Heights, Young's Park and Bodman's Addition. The Capitol View Historic District provides a glimpse of an almost exclusively residential neighborhood intended for middle and working- class residents.
