A contemporary engraving from the 1760s appears to show a horse facing in the opposite direction that was rather smaller than the present figure. There is, however, no documentation or other evidence for the existence of a chalk horse at Westbury before 1742. The horse is tall and wide and has been adopted as a symbol for the town of Westbury, appearing on welcome signs and the logo of its tourist information centre. It is also considered a symbol for Wiltshire as a whole.

Peace Rules was often ridden by jockey Edgar Prado, who won the 2006 Kentucky Derby on the ill-fated Barbaro. Coming into the Derby, Empire Maker was the "chalk" (horse racing term for favorite, taken from the days of a bookmakers chalking the odds on blackboards). Both of Frankel's Derby entries were beaten by the longshot Funny Cide, but Peace Rules led for over a mile and held on for third place and a check for $110,000. In the Preakness Stakes, Peace Rules was the second choice on the morning-line at 8-5, behind only the Derby winner in a full field of twelve colts.

The probable date of c. 1380–550 BC ascribed to the giant chalk horse carved into the hillside turf at Uffington, in southern England, may be too early to be directly associated with Epona, and may not actually represent a horse at all. The Pi-Man also stars in his own long-running, surreal, comic-strip, soap opera in the company's adverts on the back page of Popular Computing Weekly magazine and appears in several subsequent games of different kinds. The sundial was eventually won in 1985 by Sue Cooper and Lizi Newman, who correctly worked out that it could only be found on 22 July (because Pi is sometimes rounded to 22/7) at the chalk horse at Hindover Hill near Litlington, East Sussex.

Just's work has been exhibited in over a hundred solo and group exhibitions in Australia including Daine Singer, Craft Victoria, Gertrude Contemporary, West Space, Conical, Centre for Contemporary Photography, Melbourne Art Fair, Silvershot, Contemporary Art Space of Tasmania, Chalk Horse Gallery, Nellie Castan Gallery, First Draft, MOP, Perth Institute of Contemporary Art, and Canberra Contemporary Art Space. Within an international context, Just has exhibited her work at A.I.R. Gallery and AC Institute in New York, Titanik Galleria in Finland, Nanjing University in China, Auckland Art Fair, The Factory at Kunsthalle Krems, Austria, Youkobo Art Space in Tokyo, Japan, Hive Gallery in Los Angeles and Sanskriti Art Gallery in New Delhi. In 2017, Just's works will be exhibited at the Rijswijk Museum in the Netherlands and the newly built ICA in Richmond, Virginia.
