Metal disks with piezo material, used in buzzers or as contact microphones Based on piezoelectric technology various physical quantities can be measured the most common are pressure and acceleration. For pressure sensors, a thin membrane and a massive base is used, ensuring that an applied pressure specifically loads the elements in one direction. For accelerometers, a seismic mass is attached to the crystal elements. When the accelerometer experiences a motion, the invariant seismic mass loads the elements according to Newton's second law of motion F=m a.
Martin puts the bodies of these > characters through every kind of permutation, treating them as much like > gadgets as the squirting flowers and joy buzzers that populate his gags: > glass eyes pop out from a pat on the back; heads are steamrollered into > manhole-cover shapes. All of this accompanied by a Dadaist panoply of sound > effects found nowhere else: shtoink! shklorp! fwoba-dap! It’s unlikely > Samuel Beckett was aware of Don Martin, but had he been he might have > recognized a kindred spirit.
The show's popularity compelled Schwartz to keep the comics in a similar vein. As the show's popularity waned, however, so did that of the Batman comics. After the TV series ended in 1969, the increase in public visibility had not stopped the comic's sales decline; editorial director Carmine Infantino resolved to turn things around, moving stories away from schoolboy-friendly adventures. The Silver Age introduced several of the Joker's defining character traits: lethal joy buzzers, acid-squirting flowers, trick guns, and goofy, elaborate crimes.
The tester consists of an indicator in series with a source of electrical power - normally a battery, terminating in two test leads. If a complete circuit is established between the test-leads, the indicator is activated. The indicator may be an electric light or a buzzer. This led to the term "buzzing out a circuit" (which means to test for continuity) Audible continuity buzzers or beepers are built into some models of multimeter, and the continuity setting is normally shared with the ohmmeter setting.

Sunderland went on to design some of the most successful 'new-wave' populist museums in Britain, starting notably with the Jorvik Viking Centre in York, which like his dustbin became an overnight hit with the British public. In the final series (1987–1988), the 1000 to 1 quiz was replaced by a general- knowledge, fingers-on-buzzers quiz. As before, three couples participated, in just two rounds of questions. Each couple began with £10 and could earn another £10 for each correct answer in the first round.

In a parody of ubiquitous general knowledge quizzes, the final round is off-topic and called "General Ignorance". It focuses on seemingly easy questions which have widely believed but wrong answers. Whereas in the main rounds of the show, the panellists' buzzer usage is not usually enforced, the "General Ignorance" questions are introduced by the host's reminder to keep "fingers on buzzers". "General Ignorance" was featured in every episode until the I (ninth) series, but featured only occasionally in the J (tenth) and K (eleventh) series before appearing regularly again in the L (twelfth) series.
Adams continued to send royalty payments to the tool and die maker until 1934, when the payments were returned. In 1987, Sam Adams' son, Joseph "Bud" Adams, redesigned the mechanism for great durability and a louder buzz, and marketed it as the Super Joy Buzzer. A common misconception—primarily due to false advertising by the makers and sellers of the device—is that the joy buzzer actually delivers an electric shock, and many stylized villains in fiction (e.g., Batman's nemesis The Joker) employ "lethally powerful" joy buzzers as weapons.
This piece consist of only one movement and has a total duration of three minutes. It is scored for six percussionists playing tin cans, a muted gong, audio frequency oscillators, three variable speed turntables using tone recordings, buzzers, a microphone-amplified marimbula and an amplified coil of wire attached to a phonographic tone arm. This latter technique was first used in this composition, even though it was also used in Imaginary Landscape No. 2. To a certain extent, this composition is a combination of the first two in the series.
Bregman said, "I am really sorry about the choices that were made by my team, by the organization, and by me. I have learned from this and I hope to regain the trust of baseball fans." At that same news conference, Astros owner Jim Crane denied allegations that Bregman and other Astros players wore buzzer devices in 2019, saying, "I truly believe there were no buzzers, ever, and I don't even know where that came from.""Astros' Alex Bregman, Jose Altuve apologize for actions in 2017" ESPN, February 13, 2020.
Captured German machine-gun nests and strong points were garrisoned and wired with German barbed wire found in the area. The final objective became the outpost zone and the second objective the main line of resistance, a chain of irregular posts using shell-holes concealed by folds of the ground and reverse slopes, avoiding trenches which attracted German shellfire. Communication between the infantry and artillery was established with runners, messenger dogs and pigeons. Wireless transmitters and power buzzers were set up at brigade headquarters and artillery observation posts, one for each artillery group.

A traditional button whirligig from Ukraine—called a фуркалка "furkalka" due to the sound made from spinning. Button whirligigs, also known as button spinners and buzzers, are the oldest known whirligigs. They require only a piece of clay or bone and a strip of hide. Native American cultures had their own version of this toy in 500 BC. Many a child of the Great Depression from the southern Appalachians and Ozarks remembers a button or token, or coin and a string as the primary spinning toy of their youth.
At certain points during the game, the contestants are offered a chance to "break away" from the team and attempt to win the entire jackpot for themselves. These "break points" occur immediately at the beginning, then after every third step through #27, and finally after step #29. Up to two contestants may occupy the breakaway path at any given time. If it is empty when the team reaches a break point, the members are given five seconds to signal whether they wish to break away, by pressing the buzzers they carry with them.

Teams answer simultaneously using buzzers, and score 1 point for each puzzle they solve. Initially there was no penalty for guessing incorrectly on this round, but starting with the quarter-finals in Series 1, teams have faced a penalty of 1 point for each incorrect answer. Additionally, if the team that buzzes provides an incorrect answer (even by a single letter) or fails to answer quickly, the opposing team is given an opportunity to answer for a bonus point. The round lasts for between 90 seconds and three minutes.
The World for being the Last Ninja Standing for a second time in Season 9. The following seasons, the Vipers began to sink to the bottom of the standings and were fortunate to qualify for the playoffs, only to exit the first round. The Vipers would not advance to another playoff round until 2007. Vaughan's best season came in 2007-08, when the team boosted a 41-4-4 record, despite finishing 2nd place in the OPJHL's South Conference behind the dominant St. Michael's Buzzers. The Vipers received a bye to the next round of the playoffs, but lost the second round series to the Markham Waxers in four games.
The most recent format ran from 15 November 2006 until the show's suspension and its eventual cancellation. In each show, there were four contestants, all of which play the first three rounds. The lowest-scoring contestant is eliminated after each of the third, sixth and eighth rounds, so that only one is left standing for the Pyramid. Except for Word Wheel and the final Pyramid game, all rounds are on the buzzers, with the opponent given a chance to answer if the player who first buzzed in answers incorrectly.
Each episode begins with each of the contestants telling a joke as a warm-up before the first round. The rounds vary between each episode, but the main rounds consist of the panel on buzzers trying to give the best jokes, with Mayo giving points to whoever he feels gave the best material. Between each of the rounds are a selection of "Head-to-Head" rounds, with two members of different teams trying to tell as many jokes within the shortest time. The winner is the person who talks the least.
Growing up in Oakville, Ontario, Laughton attended Holy Family Elementary School and Holy Family High School while captaining the Toronto Marlboros Minor Midget AAA of the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL). In his final season with the Marlboros, Laughton also skated in two games with the St. Michael's Buzzers of the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL). He concluded the 2009–10 GTHL season with 55 goals and 40 assists in 76 games for the Marlboros.
Contestants who make it into the semi-finals by passing both stages of auditions (or receiving a Golden Buzzer, as of series 8), are divided into groups for each round, where they must perform before the audience and judges, as well as on live television. As with the audition stage, each semi-finalist must conduct a performance before the judges – a new routine of their act – with the judges' role being to watch what is conducted and give feedback towards the end of the performance; buzzers may still be used by each judge, and the performance can be ultimately terminated if all buzzers are used. Because all semi-finalists are performing live, they are given time to prepare in advance with rehearsals, while production staff can provide assistance to those in preparing their performance – in the case of those conducting routines that incorporate a level of risk, production staff will ensure precautions are in place, including paramedics, and sometimes set up off-site venues for performances to use either live or for a pre-recorded film for the episode's live broadcast. Each semi-final can only have two participants advance into the final, and these are determined by two votes.
Control of the board was determined by the use of buzzers. After answering the question correctly, the contestant was given the choice of which blocks on the board to turn over. For example, if a square displayed a "nought", one rotation would see the square turn blank; two would see it replaced with a "cross", three with another blank and on the fourth turn it would revert to a "nought". Tactical play would lead to the contestant building up lines of noughts or crosses, for which points were awarded (10 points per horizontal, vertical or diagonal line).
From a young age, Violet had an independent interest in electricity and invention. As she recalled in an oral history interview in 1979: > I used to play about with bells and buzzers and things around the house. My > mother would sometimes say "Oh, come and help me find something, it's so > dark in this cupboard" – she didn't have very good eyesight… So I'd get a > battery and I'd hook a switch, and when she opened that cupboard door a > light would come on… I started sort of playing with those things. Viewers criticised BGTs twelfth series over two separate matters. The first concerned one of the golden buzzers conducted in the auditions for the twelfth series for singer Lifford Shillingford as being a "fix". Viewers complained on social media that he maintained a close connection to judge Alesha Dixon, who provided the buzzer, and thus had an unfair advantage over other participants. Both Dixon and Shillingford denied the allegations, which focused on comments made by the judge over the singer's performance, clarifying that while they knew each other, it was through their mutual work in the music industry and not from a close friendship.
By selecting single-step and single-cycle mode and stepping through a program with the step button, the user can see exactly what happens during every instruction cycle, observing the program counter, data bus and control signals on their corresponding LEDs. By selecting single-instruction mode, rather than single-cycle mode, each press of the step button will execute a complete instruction, rather than a single cycle. This is useful for quickly advancing to a specific address. The input/output ports can be used to read external signals and drive output devices like motors and buzzers with little or no additional hardware.
Life at the castle is a regimented series of rings, gongs, bells, and buzzers that announce one dismal activity after another: sleep; lessons taught by the unpleasant teacher-dog, Mr. Prouch; brainwashing lectures given by the king's overbearing cousin Clemens; flavorless meals; and a weekly trip to the playroom. The children rebel at every possible turn despite being held against their will. They talk back to Mr. Prouch and, when he loses his spectacles in a rage, make their first escape attempt. However, it fails when they find themselves caught climbing over the castle's surrounding wall.
The hotel was finished by November 1917. Upon opening, the hotel was advertised as "attractive small hotel (with) 30 rooms and 16 baths, wide verandas upstairs and down, attractive lobby, hot and cold water in all rooms, night and day phone service with buzzers in all rooms, excellent steam heat, free parking, one-half block from Plaza." The original rates were $1.50 per night for a single and $2.50 for a double. The hotel underwent a renovation during the 1980s, which allowed the property to keep many of its original features, while giving its amenities an upgrade.
In addition, if time ran out during a contestant's game, the contestant immediately won whatever prize he or she had at that point. For instance, a contestant who had a full board of 30 lights when time was called and was answering a 5p-level question would win £1.50. At the end of the show, all of the contestants faced one final question on the buzzers against a full board of 30 lights, and the contestant who answered the question correctly won £1 per light remaining. The show's catchphrase "Stop The Lights!" is still used by Irish people to indicate mock amazement.
However, their performance would not only be judged by the panel, but also by a special guest judge, with all participants divided up into four groups; each group would be judged by their own guest judge. Like the auditions, this stage allowed the use of the Golden Buzzer, but only for the guest judges, who could use it for the act they liked the most, but could not use it again upon the buzzer being used; the judges can still use their red buzzers at any time to end a performance, though no such buzzer is provided for the guest judges.
The general objective of the game is to avoid being the greediest contestant. For each money clock played, a dollar figure is shown that rapidly increases or decreases. Contestants hold lock-out buzzers behind their backs and secretly lock-in at a point when they believe the money clock is high enough to be valuable to them, but low enough not to be the "greediest" contestant, or the contestant who locks-in at the highest value. For each of the five money clocks (ranging from $1,000 to $5,000), the greediest contestant banks no money for the just-played money clock.
The auditions take place between May and June 2013, in front of the judges and a live audience at different cities across the Moldova: Nisporeni, Bălți, Constanța, Drochia, Soroca, Edineț, Orhei, Cahul, Comrat, Ungheni, Hâncești, Căușeni and Chișinău. The main contest take place in Chișinău, capital of Moldova. At any time during the contest, the judges may show disapproval to the act by pressing a buzzer which lights a large red "X" on the stage, indicating that they particularly dislike the act and do not wish the performance to continue. If all the judges press their buzzers, the act must end immediately.
"Instruction no. 6" covered engineer and pioneer work for the building of strong points, at the places determined in "Divisional Order 31". An Engineer Field Company was attached to each brigade and the Pioneer Battalion was made responsible for the maintenance and extension of communications, including tramways, mule and duckboard tracks and communication trenches. Two supply routes were defined and next day, engineer officers were added to the liaison system within brigade headquarters. Communication within the division was addressed by "Instruction No. 7" on 16 September, which discussed telegraph, telephones and cable burying; visual communication via six reporting stations; wireless and power buzzers.

Fort William and Sudbury both finished with 2–1 records, but the Stars received a bye to the championship game via tiebreaker.

In the playoffs, he recorded 15 points over 11 games.
The Governor was removed the same day, only to be reappointed to run HM Prison Downview a few weeks later. It was also noted that cell call buzzers had been sabotaged by Prison Officers so as not to be disturbed during their shifts, only a small light remaining operational to indicate activation of a cell emergency call. In August 2000, prison officers from all over the UK staged an illegal strike after the government released proposals confirming intentions to privatise Brixton Prison. The privatisation plans were subsequently dropped, and Brixton Prison has remained in the public sector.
For the 2012–13 season, Marner transitioned to the Don Mills Flyers of the GTHL, where he played his minor midget year, registering 86 points in 55 games. In the following year, the Duplo system was expanded to include sets for even younger audiences, particularly infants; new sets included baby rattles and figures with movable limbs. The year after, Lego minifigure citizens gained a realm of knights and horses, with a redesign of the Castle theme. Light & Sound sets made their appearance in 1985; these sets included a battery pack with electrical lights, buzzers, and other accessories to add another dimension of realism to Lego creations. Also that year, the Lego Group's educational division produced the Technic Computer Control, which was an educational system whereby Technic robots, trucks, and other motorized models could be controlled with a computer.
Audiences of Macabre (1958), an $86,000 production distributed by Allied Artists, were invited to take out insurance policies to cover potential death from fright. The 1959 creature feature The Tingler featured Castle's most famous gimmick, Percepto: at the film's climax, buzzers attached to select theater seats unexpectedly rattled a few audience members, prompting either appropriate screams or even more appropriate laughter.Heffernan (2004), pp. 102–4. With such films, Castle "combine[d] the saturation advertising campaign perfected by Columbia and Universal in their Sam Katzman and William Alland packages with centralized and standardized publicity stunts and gimmicks that had previously been the purview of the local exhibitor".Heffernan (2004), pp. 95–98.
Metal disks with piezo material, used in buzzers or as contact microphones A contact microphone, also known as a piezo microphone, is a form of microphone that senses audio vibrations through contact with solid objects. Unlike normal air microphones, contact microphones are almost completely insensitive to air vibrations but transduce only structure-borne sound. Often used as acoustic leakage probes, they also enjoy wide usage by noise music artists experimenting with sound. Contact microphones can be used to amplify sound from acoustic musical instruments, to sense drum hits, for triggering electronic samples, and to record sound in challenging environments, such as underwater under high pressure.

Stan has a crush on another girl, Sherry, whose former boyfriend, Harvey Starkweather, is a violent juvenile delinquent and would-be poet. After Harvey threatens Stan for pursuing Sherry, Stan lies to her to call off their first date. Woolsey continues to devote himself to the promotion of Mant!, hiring Harvey to dress as the mutated half-man, half-ant creature from the film, and installing buzzers in theater seats as part of a gimmick he calls "Rumble-Rama," although the cinema's manager, Howard, is concerned about the effects "Rumble-Rama" could have on the fragile balcony area, which has a maximum capacity of just 100 people.

For the most part, the teams served as farm teams at the Junior B level for the Junior A OHA teams. The 1964–65 season starred a 17-year-old Ken Dryden in net for the Etobicoke Indians. With Dryden in net, the Indians won the Metro league title and made it all the way to the Sutherland Cup final where they lost 4-games-to-2 to the Kitchener Greenshirts.

From 1989 to 2011, Honda Campus All-Star Challenge used the same gameplay structure as two of its sister shows, College Bowl and University Challenge. Gameplay took place during two eight-minute halves and included toss-up and bonus questions. Toss-up questions were always 10 points in value and, and a correct response on a toss-up gave the team the right to answer a bonus question, which could be worth 20, 25, or 30 possible points. The toss-up questions did not permit conferring with other team members, with buzzers (using a lockout system) being used to designate who rang in to answer a question.
Shout Out UK gathered all of the youth leaders of the seven major British political parties in one place to debate politics and youth issues in front of a studio audience and Live-streamed through All4, an online platform owned by Channel 4 News on the 28th April 2015. The Youth Leaders Debate, hosted by Fatima Manji from Channel 4 News, differed from the main 2015 leaders' Debate by introducing buzzers. Seven themes were presented to the panellists, each had one chance to 'buzz in' and have one minute protected time for one question only.
As an ethnomusicologist, Maceda investigated various forms of music in Southeast Asia, producing numerous papers and even composing his own pieces for Southeast Asian instruments. His notable works include: Pagsamba for 116 instruments, 100 mixed and 25 male voices (1968); Cassette 100 for 100 cassette players (1971); Ugnayan for 20 radio stations (1974); Udlot-Udlot for several hundred to several thousand people (1975); Suling-Suling for 10 flutes, 10 bamboo buzzers and 10 flat gongs (1985). In 1977, Maceda aimed to study Philippine folk songs which he describes as having more focus on rhythm rather than time measure. From the 1990s, he also composed for Western orchestra and piano.
This also increases safety for the driver by keeping his focus on the track at all times. Beginning in the early 1980s, many United States- market vehicles equipped with a manual transmission began to have shift lights as standard equipment; these would usually signal for an upshift at an engine speed that provided maximum fuel efficiency, lower than the ideal engine speed for maximum BHP. The reason for this was, for a time EPA fuel economy testing rules stipulated that shift lights would be followed on vehicles so equipped- thus, they were calibrated for optimum fuel mileage on the EPA test cycle. Some in the 1980s even had buzzers to alert the driver it was at a certain rpm.
Movie Exclusive called the song "soulful" and deemed it as one of the "greatest testaments to how Aguilera is one of the greatest performers of all time". Alissa LeClair from Movie Buzzers was also positive toward the track, stated that "Show Me How You Burlesque", among with "But I Am a Good Girl", "Express", and "Guy What Takes His Time"; are materials that complement Aguilera's talent, as well as shows how well the singer prepared to be a good dancer for the film project. Upon the release of Burlesque, "Show Me How You Burlesque" charted in several countries. In the United States, the song peaked at number 70 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and remained for one week.

The 70-point total made him the GTHL point leader for the season. After his league leading performance, he was drafted by the Toronto St. Michael's Majors of the Ontario Hockey League with the seventh selection of the tenth round, but instead of playing for them, he spent the following two seasons playing in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OPJHL) for the St. Michael's Buzzers. During the 2005–06 season, he led the OPJHL in scoring with 73 points in 48 games and led the team to the OPJHL championship.
They finished 7th overall in the league and 2nd place in the North Division with 32 wins. The Canes opened the playoffs with a 4 games to 1 series victory of the inconsistent Huntsville-Muskoka Otters. The Canes ran into tho a brick wall the next round, the division semi-final, when they ran into a Stouffville Spirit squad that was firing on all cylinders. The Spirit won the series in 6 games, beat the Aurora Tigers for the division title in 6 games, beat the Oakville Blades in 7 games in the Buckland Cup semi-final, but were out-lasted by the defending champion St. Michael's Buzzers 4 games to 2 in the league final.
Bauer was born on February 16, 1915, in Waterloo, Ontario. He was the second of 11 children to Edgar and Alice Bauer; His elder brother Frank was later Mayor of Waterloo and he had nine younger siblings: Eugene, Jerome, Alice, David, Raymond, Mary, Rita, Therese and Margaret. Edgar was a Knight of the Order of St. Sylvester, Waterloo city councilor and executive in the Bauer family's automotive parts business. The Bauer children learned to play hockey in a backyard rink, and Bobby grew up playing youth hockey in Kitchener–Waterloo before moving to Toronto in 1930 where he attended St. Michael's College School and played junior first with the St. Michael's Buzzers in 1930–31 followed by three years with the St. Michael's Majors.
The final round was played like the original: the contestants were asked a series of general knowledge questions, with each answer leading to the next question, except the round now lasted for two minutes (2:00) and most questions were multiple-choice. Also, the contestants played on a podium in the center of the stage instead of with the buzzers on their chairs. Each correct answer was worth five points, but each incorrect answer lost two points. The player with the most points at the end of the game won prizes, and the eight highest scoring members of each sex advanced to the four quarterfinals at the end of the season, from which the four highest- scoring members of each sex advanced to the two semifinals.
The member from the team in the lead was placed directly at the start line, while the other two teams were placed further back based on how far they are trailing the lead team. As well as the obstacles of the course the players also had things thrown at them by the rest of the team members. The first player to complete the course, sit on their respective pyramid, and step on the buzzers (the same method of signalling as in the question rounds) and be joined by their teammates won the grand prize. Of the other two teams, the team with more points received a second-place prize, and the team with fewer points received a third-place prize.
At the sound of four (three; from season 1-4) buzzers from the judges, the auditionees are asked to stop their act. With at least three (two; from season 1-4) yes from the judges, they are automatically in the list for Judges Cuts, where judges have to pick only 36 acts that will move to the semi-finals. Acts will compete against each other in order to gain the audience support to win the prize money and the title of Pilipinas Got Talent. ABS-CBN acquired the Got Talent franchise, advertising it as "the first nationwide talent reality show in the Philippines," although other talent shows from other networks are aired with a similar format, such as Talentadong Pinoy on TV5.
Japanese efforts in materials research created piezoceramic materials competitive to the United States materials but free of expensive patent restrictions. Major Japanese piezoelectric developments included new designs of piezoceramic filters for radios and televisions, piezo buzzers and audio transducers that can connect directly to electronic circuits, and the piezoelectric igniter, which generates sparks for small engine ignition systems and gas-grill lighters, by compressing a ceramic disc. Ultrasonic transducers that transmit sound waves through air had existed for quite some time but first saw major commercial use in early television remote controls. These transducers now are mounted on several car models as an echolocation device, helping the driver determine the distance from the car to any objects that may be in its path.
The antithesis of Batman in personality and appearance, the Joker is considered by critics to be his perfect adversary. The Joker possesses no superhuman abilities, instead using his expertise in chemical engineering to develop poisonous or lethal concoctions and thematic weaponry, including razor-tipped playing cards, deadly joy buzzers, and acid-spraying lapel flowers. The Joker sometimes works with other Gotham City supervillains, such as the Penguin and Two-Face, and groups like the Injustice Gang and Injustice League, but these relationships often collapse due to the Joker's desire for unbridled chaos. The 1990s introduced a romantic interest for the Joker in his former psychiatrist, Harley Quinn, who became his villainous sidekick and later escaped an abusive relationship with him.
Most questions had three multiple choice options, however, there was usually at least one question in which the contestants must identify whether a statement about a celebrity was "truth or just rumor." When a bell sounded to end the round, the players took part in a "Scandalation Instant Reflex" round. The "Instant Reflex" segment consisted of 10 dual-choice questions on the buzzers worth ±20 points, generally true-or-false in nature, with responses appropriate to the theme of the category. For instance, if the category were famous people who checked into the Betty Ford Clinic, the contestants would have to respond "Yes Betty" to the name of someone who had checked in, or "No Betty" to one who had not.
The first rector was Rev. Raymond Clancy, C.S.C. When the halls opened in late October of 1931 and two hundred students (who had resided off campus for the beginning of the academic year) moved in, Alumni featured some of the latest technologies of the time, such as electric elevators, extension phones, buzzers, and slots for used razors. Since previous newest residential development of Howard Hall, Morrissey Hall, and Lyons Hall (built in 1924-1927) had previously been known as "Gold Coast" because of their refined architecture, Alumni and Dillon quickly were dubbed "Platinum Coast" both because they had improved amenities but also because of the grayer color of the architecture and decoration. The hall was so named in honor of the University's alumni.
Xbox 360 Big Button Pads with the infrared receiver The game can be played with an Xbox 360 controller, but comes bundled with four special wireless controllers called Big Button Pads which resemble game show buzzers. Each controller has one large "buzzer" button at the top, the A, B, X, and Y buttons arranged vertically, and an Xbox Guide button. The controllers use infrared rather than Microsoft's proprietary wireless standard, and whilst the Xbox 360 has an infrared receiver, it is not designed to interface with four devices simultaneously; therefore a sensor add-on is included and must be plugged into the 360 for the controllers to be usable. Other games such as Uno and Wits and Wagers have added support for the Big Button Pads.
300 points (240 points per question + 60 points from the Mystery Picture) was the perfect score in the first season while 360 points (due to the addition of the 20 point questions) was used in the second season onwards. Contestants stand in a podium consisting of a microphone, buzzer, pens and paper (to be used for MathTinikan and on occasions Word-O- Poly questions), and certificate holders (this was only used in the Challenger Round and the Championship/Season Finale). All of their buzzers are automatically locked, meaning that whoever buzzes first will be acknowledged by the quizmasters despite numerous attempts of the other schools to try pressing the buzzer. The other teams will be acknowledged if the first team who buzzes says a wrong answer or runs out of time answering the question.
During this round, the final selection of participants, which has ranged from between 20 and 60 acts and include those that were chosen as Wildcards by the judges or received the Golden Buzzer, are divided into groups and compete against each other for viewers' and judges' votes. The general structure of the live episodes focuses first on four quarterfinals, and then two semi- finals, aimed at finding that season's finalists. Additional rounds are conducted when required (such as a "Top 8" or a "Top 10", depending on the season). During these stages, the judges still provide feedback on an act's performance when it is over, and can use buzzers to prematurely end a performance before it is over; in the first season, the judges could not end a performance before it was over.
Although the precise origins of the collection are unknown (it is doubtful that Wolf made the collection himself), it is of considerable significance both because it attempts to document systematically all aspects of the life of these reindeer herders of the tundra and because very little material from the Chukchi of that period has been preserved in museums. The rich variety of Chukchi clothing is documented in sets of garments for adults and for children of all ages as well as clothing used for special purposes, such as spring sealing. Recreationalitems include children's toys (a leather ball, a drum, a stuffed mouse, buzzers, toy reindeer). After the gift to the museum in Munich, in September 1901 the Royal Bavarian Academy of Sciences honoured him with their large gold medal for services rendered to science.
Settling for an indoor football career, Žungul, now known as Steve Zungul, tried to make the best of the new situation. After playing European Cup football with Hajduk as well competing at the European Championship with Yugoslavia, the 24-year-old suddenly found himself in a whole new sport resembling human pinball with ice hockey-style dasher boards around the field, buzzers, flashing lights, disco music, galloping players and the ball rebounding haphazardly off the walls and around the turf. Though financially well compensated for his services, the move to indoor in professional terms meant being reduced to playing with and against players whose skills and abilities were far inferior to his. Making his debut in the Arrows' opening game of the season in Nassau Coliseum he immediately established his scoring credentials, recording four goals.
In their final 2011-12 season, the Vipers finished 2nd behind the St. Michael's Buzzers, but would lose a heart- breaking series to the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots in 7 games. Marcus Hinds scored the final goal in Vaughan Vipers history just over 11 minutes into the third period in a 4-2 loss to Toronto at the Al Palladini Community Centre in front of 323 fans. In March 2012, the Vipers withdrew their membership from the OJHL. The news came as a shock, as the Vipers were potential top team in the OJHL and surprise to head coach/general manager Jason Fortier, who had just came up with some marketing ideas for the team, but owner Al Doria claimed it was too late and went ahead with the buyout option offered by the league.
The lyrics are written from the perspective of a pinball champion, called "Local Lad" in the Tommy libretto book, astounded by the skills of the opera's eponymous main character, Tommy Walker: "He ain't got no distractions / Can't hear those buzzers and bells / Don't see lights a flashin' / Plays by sense of smell / Always gets a replay / Never seen him fall / That deaf dumb and blind kid / Sure plays a mean pin ball.", and "I thought I was the Bally table king, but I just handed my pinball crown to him". Townshend once called it "the most clumsy piece of writing [he'd] ever done".Remaster Liner Notes to Tommy "Deaf, Dumb and Blind kid" by Richard Barnes Nevertheless, the song was a commercial success and remains one of the most recognised tunes from the opera.

Development of the original Super Smash Flash began around mid-2006, as Cleod9's first Flash game project on his then TI-89-centric website, McLeodGaming, after understanding Flash coding well enough to make a full- fledged game. Originally, the game was a combat-oriented platform game with a Sonic the Hedgehog fan-characters called "Blade" and "Blue" (whom would remain a playable character even in the final product) and the focus was to get through a large level with suspended platforms taking out flying robotic bees called Buzzers (enemies from the Sega Genesis game, Sonic the Hedgehog 2). The game was eventually reworked into a Super Smash Bros. fan game—then early called a "flash Smash engine" by Cleod9—where small updates began incorporating new content, be new playable characters, stages or items It was based on Super Smash Bros.
Brown grew up playing youth hockey in the Toronto area. He played first for the West Mall Lightning mite select team, in the North York Hockey League, where his father was the head coach. The Lightning team later morphed in the GTHL Toronto Marlboros team for players born in 1994. The core of the team won ten-straight city championships and included seven players who would go on to be selected at the 2012 NHL Entry Draft: Brown, Scott Laughton, Matt Finn, Adam Pelech, Scott Kosmachuk, Jake Paterson and Matia Marcantuoni. Brown was selected in the 13th round, 251st overall, by the Ontario Hockey League (OHL)'s Erie Otters in the 2010 OHL Priority Draft. He spent the 2010–11 season playing Junior "A" hockey for the St. Michael's Buzzers in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL).
The pamphlet was derived from the experience of the Somme in 1916 for divisions to organise according to a common pattern and prescribed the siege warfare methods necessary for trench-to-trench attacks, the semi-open fighting, when defensive positions had been captured and open warfare techniques, for when the defence collapsed. All the sections of SS 135 addressed the problem of command when no voice communication existed by prescribing that a commander's intention must be communicated and that the infantry should make every effort to send back information by any means available, primarily by visual methods which needed specialist parties to advance with the infantry to set up relay stations, carrier pigeons, experimental wireless sets, power buzzers, signal lamps and runners, who were trained to use the terrain and know the trench systems for maximum protection.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic causing the closure of secondary schools in early 2020, the decision was made to conduct the remaining stages (the nationals and the inter-regionals) of the competition predominantly via the video app Zoom. However, the inter-regional rounds that were not completed before the closure of schools were conducted in an all-new 'pub-quiz' style, rather than on buzzers as is usual or on Zoom as the national rounds were played. The seven (Exeter School was also to play, but dropped out and was replaced by KES B) teams in the national finals were The Perse School, Calday Grange, Dollar Academy, Westminster School, King Edward VI Grammar School Chelmsford, and Warwick School, who would have hosted the competition. Due to one team dropping out, King Edward's School got a 'bye' to the semi-finals (they played their own B team, technically).
Buzzers were scattered around the store, which, when pressed, will send a nearby staff member to that location to help out a customer. While their paint was being tinted, pagers were handed to customers, enabling them to continue shopping. Masters also sold more 'non hardware' lines such as whitegoods as well as having McDonald's restaurants with McCafés in selected stores. In June 2012, Masters Home Improvement launched their transactional website that offered more than 30,000 products nationwide, giving them the title of Australia's first online hardware and home improvement retailer. The first two stores in Queensland opened at Springfield Central, and then at Tingalpa on 11 October 2011; the first store in New South Wales opened at Gregory Hills on 4 December 2011; the first store in Western Australia opened at Baldivis in August 2012 and the first store in South Australia opened in Mount Gambier in August 2012.
XVII Corps issued a 56-page plan of "Instructions on which Divisional Commanders are to work out their own plans in detail...", which incorporated experience gained on the Somme and stressed the importance of co-ordinated machine-gun fire, counter-battery artillery fire, creeping barrages, the leapfrogging of infantry units, pauses on objectives and plans to meet German counter-attacks. Mortar and gas units were delegated to divisional control. Tank operations remained a corps responsibility, as they were to conform to an army plan against selected objectives. A Corps Signals Officer was appointed, to co- ordinate artillery communications on lines later elaborated in Forward Inter- Communication in Battle of March 1917, going into the details of telephone line planning, to link units with each other, neighbours and their artillery, along with telegraph, visual signalling, pigeons, power buzzers, wireless, codes and liaison with the Royal Flying Corps (RFC).
After this, they are then given three minutes to conduct their performance before both the judges and a live audience, with some acts being supported by a backing track provided by the production team. If at any time, the judges find the performance to be unconvincing, boring or completely wrong, they may use the buzzer before them, which changes the Xs from white to red; if all the judges press their buzzers, then the performance is immediately over. However, a judge can retract their buzzer's use if they felt they had done so prematurely before witnessing a contest's performance to the end; this is true if the performance appears to look bad, but later turns out to have been good in their eyes. Once a performance is over, each judge will give an overview of what they thought about the act, before casting a vote.
The time period between sequential sightings by the observers was called the "observing interval".FM 4-15, Ch. 6 It was typically set at 20 seconds for controlling batteries of guns larger than 3-inch caliber. Not only did everyone in the fire control system have to stay in synch (for example, knowing which one of a series of sets of fire control data they were working with at any given time) but certain functions (notably the making of target sightings by the observers and the firing of the guns by the gun crews) had to be carried out at precise intervals if the accuracy of the system was to be maintained. To enable all battery personnel to stay in synch, a "time interval bell" (or buzzer) would be rung in every observation or spotting station serving the battery, in the plotting room, and at each gun, using bells or buzzers wired together with a centrally located master clock.
Fangoria called it an "Ottawa-shot sharksploitationer" with a mood that "is pure fun, akin to recent marine-life- run-amok fare [such] as Piranha 3D and Sharktopus. Conversely, Alex DiGiovanna of Move Buzzers panned the film, noting that with VOD or direct to DVD films about giant creatures attacking folks on a beach "you can expect them to be funny, in a terrible sort of way while also having some sort of added entertainment value. Too bad that’s not the case with Brett Kelly’s wannabe Jaws meets Jurassic Park Megalodon feature, Attack of the Jurassic Shark". He offered "when I say this movie is one of the worst pieces of cinema that my eyes had the misfortune of viewing, I truly mean it." He explained "I love terrible horror movies, I think they’re hilarious and while this one had a few of those moments, it couldn't live up to its potential.
In the Canadian province of Ontario, then-Premier Dalton McGuinty announced a "locked door" policy, as part of a Safe Welcome Program at all elementary schools as of September 2013.After Newtown shooting, McGuinty wants a ‘locked door’ policy at all Ontario elementary schools by next fall National Post, 2012/12/20 About 2,450 elementary schools applied for and received funding from the province to install front-door buzzers and security cameras. Together with the 850 schools that installed them with provincial funding in 2005, the new equipment means about 80 per cent of Ontario's 4,000 elementary schools will have secured front doors.Ontario elementary schools to lock front doors this fall after Newtown tragedy Metro Toronto - June 18, 2013 In the Greater Toronto Area, 1,287 schools received funding through their 12 school boards such as the Toronto Catholic District School Board, Toronto District School Board, Durham Catholic District School Board, and York Region District School Board.
Once brought onto the main stage, they begin by engaging with the judges, asking a few small questions – subjects can include their name, background, and nature of their performance – whereupon they are given three minutes to conduct their performance; a backing track for their act is allowed if required. A performance ends when either the time is up, or all the judges use their buzzers – each judge has one that they can use to signal their dislike of the performance if they believe it to be unconvincing, boring, or completely unacceptable for the contest, though a buzzer can be retracted if the judge felt they used it mistakenly, such as if the participant's performance did something unexpected that changed their opinion of them. Once a performance is over, each judge will give an overview of what they thought about the act, before casting a vote. If the contestant(s) receives a majority vote of "Yes", they then proceed onto the next stage in the contest, otherwise they are eliminated at that point from the competition.
These new interior quarter trim panel inserts would also appear on the Collector's Series, (in color-keyed vinyl, or cloth – depending on the seat trim color) as the exterior landau roof design also eliminated the opera windows on this model. Here, though, the reading/courtesy lights in these quarter panel inserts had control switches above the rear seat quarter armrests, to allow them to operate as customary door-jamb activated interior courtesy lights, as well as rear seat passengers being able to switch them on and off independently as true reading lamps. 1978's electro-mechanical seat belt warning chimes carried over into 1979...and were now not only standard on Collector's Series, but were also standard on the Designer Series models as well. From 1980-on, selected (higher-end) trim levels of Ford-Lincoln-Mercury models would adopt the use of a solid state, all-electronic combination (seat belt, 'key in ignition' and optional 'headlamps-on') warning chime module, with no moving parts, and no more buzzers.
Starting from the second season, auditions undergo a second stage to secure a place in the live rounds of the competition, though the format for this changed over the course of the program's history. When the stage was first created it was designed with a "bootcamp" format, under the title of "Las Vegas Callbacks" - under the format, participants who made it through the preliminary auditions could undergo training to perfect their act, whereupon they would be set into a specific group of participants before performing a second time before the judges, who could use their buzzers to terminate a performance at any time. Those that fail to secure a place in this stage would be eliminated from that season's competition. Between the fourth and ninth season, the format was changed to match that used in Britain's Got Talent - participants who made it through the preliminary auditions had their audition footage reviewed by the judges, who set each one into a specific group, and were not required to perform again, unless the judges requested this.
Contestants that make it into the semi-finals by making it through the auditions and being chosen by the judges perform once more before an audience and the judges, with their performance broadcast on live television. Like the Audition stage of the contest, each semi-finalist must attempt to impress by primarily conducting a new routine of their act within the same span of time; the judges can still use a buzzer if they are displeased with a performance and can end it early if all the buzzers are used, along with giving a personal opinion about an act when the performance is over. Of the semi-finalists that take part, only two can progress into the final, which is determined by two different types of votes – a public phone vote, and a judges' vote. The phone vote, which occurs after all the semi-finalists have performed, determines the first winner of the semi-final and takes place via a special phone line over a short break from the programme.
At that point, no American team had made it to either the Centennial Cup or Royal Bank Cup round robin or final series. This changed on May 4, 2013 when the SIJHL's Minnesota Wilderness defeated the OJHL's St. Michael's Buzzers 4–3 in overtime to win the Dudley and gain entry into the 2013 Royal Bank Cup. Beforehand, the City of Sudbury and the Sudbury Cubs were slated to host the 2013 tournament, but was soon allocated to the City of North Bay and the North Bay Trappers because the Cubs owners backed out. The 2014 Dudley Hewitt Cup saw its fourth all-Ontario Junior Hockey League Dudley- Hewitt Cup final between the Wellington Dukes and the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots. Toronto won 2–1 advancing to the Royal Bank Cup in Vernon, British Columbia leaving the hosts Wellington Dukes at home. The City of Sudbury and the Sudbury Nickel Barons were awarded the 2016 Dudley Hewitt Cup, but in the spring of 2015 the city and the Nickel Barons backed out again, and as a result of the Sudbury Nickel Barons moving to Rayside-Balfour.
Founded in 1949 in what became the Metro Junior B Hockey League (in 1956). The Staffords disappeared but were replaced when the East York Rockets moved to Mississauga in 1953. The Beehives won Metro Junior B titles in 1970 and 1971. They joined the new Ontario Provincial Junior "A" league in 1972 and stayed until the league began to fall apart in 1986, although the Beehives folded a year before the league did due to their rink being sold and closed down. The Beehives were three time Sutherland Cup All- Ontario Junior "B" Champions: 1957, 1970, and 1971. Their first Sutherland Cup came in 1957 when St. Michael's Buzzers refused to take part in provincial playdowns due to exams. Dixie defeated the Peterborough Stoneys of the Eastern Junior B Hockey League and the Sarnia Legionnaires of the Western Junior B Hockey League to win the Sutherland Cup 4-games-to-2. In 1967, the Beehives made it back to the Sutherland Cup but were thwarted 4-games-to-2 by the Kitchener Greenshirts. In 1970 and 1971 as Metro Champs, they came back again defeating the Hamilton Mountain Bee's both years 4-games-to-1 with one tie and 4-games-to-1 respectively.
