Mononobe no Moriya by Kikuchi Yōsai was an Ō-muraji, a high-ranking clan head position of the ancient Japanese Yamato state, having inherited the position from his father Mononobe no Okoshi. The unusual alliance between two groups so radically opposed, is attributed to that in that time both shared the same record producer (John Burgess) and the same team of composers. After the bad commercial results with Burgess, in 1971 The Sweet decided to follow its own way, when it signed with successful duet of songwriters Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman and with a new producer, Phil Wainman. On the other hand, The Pipkins disappeared that same year due to the brief success that their comedy act had in their native Britain. According to the booklet of the CD version for this album, Gimme Dat Ding is considered "the first rap album", basically because of the material contributed by The Pipkins.

It was awarded a gold disc by the Recording Industry Association of America. It has since become a pop standard, and was also used in the film The Mad Aunts Strike Out. After this brief success, he enjoyed several other European hits, including "Ti-laï-laï-laï (l'armenien)", which reflected his Armenian roots, but he never again recorded anything with the same impact as his breakthrough hit. Among the more interesting recordings from this period are his "Atmosphère" album, which included both "Butterfly" and the funky groover "Sexologie", and the follow-up, logically titled "Atmosphère 2", which featured the hit "D'Amérique au coeur du Japon", as well as the late seventies' "Gone With the Wind" album, which housed the nostalgic "Les temps changent".

Map of ancient Syria The region was disputed between the Seleucid dynasty and the Ptolemaic dynasty during the Syrian Wars. Alexander the Great's general Ptolemy first occupied Coele-Syria in 318 BC. However, when Ptolemy joined the coalition against Antigonus I Monophthalmus in 313 BC, he quickly withdrew from Coele- Syria. In 312 BC Seleucus I Nicator, defeated Demetrius, the son of Antigonus, in the Battle of Gaza which again allowed Ptolemy to occupy Coele-Syria. Though he was again to pull out after only a few months, after Demetrius had won a battle over his general and Antigonus entered Syria in force up to Antigonuses, this brief success had enabled Seleucus to make a dash for Babylonia which Seleucus secured.

Under Ferdinand Marcos, the Philippines was always within the top three at the overall standing of the Southeast Asian Games (2nd in 1983, 3rd in 1985 and 1987)However the country's performance went plummeted the next editions finishing 5th ahead only of Myanmar, Vietnam, Laos, and Brunei, which were considered minnows during that time and only receiving two brief success in 2005 when the country managed to become overall champions of the regional tournament and finishing 2nd in 1991; both success were from editions hosted by the nation.

Wallace is best known for 1992 song "Tell Me Why," which was co-produced and co-written by Wallace with Mark Williams and Matt Clayden (aka M&M;). Although she had other follow-up releases, "Why" remains her signature song. After her brief success as a solo artist, Wallace took some time out to return to school, gaining a university diploma in marketing and management and worked until May 1993 in the British Ministry Of Agriculture. Wallace then relocated to Munich, Germany, where she opened a clothing shop until 1995, when she returned to the music scene as a lead vocalist for the German group Garfield, only to once again take a break after the project to relocate to Miami, Florida before resuming her musical career again after her return to England.

The concurrent rise of the nearby Baltimore Orioles to regular championship contenders (winning their first World Series in ) did not help the Senators' cause either. Ownership changed hands several times during the franchise's stay in Washington and was often plagued by poor decision-making and planning. Following their brief success in 1969, owner Bob Short was forced to make many questionable trades to lower the debt he had incurred to pay for the team in late 1968; the purchase price was reported at $9.4 million. By the end of the 1970 campaign, Short had issued an ultimatum: unless someone was willing to buy the Senators for $12 million (by comparison, the New York Yankees were sold in 1973 for $8.8 million), he would not renew the stadium lease and would move the team elsewhere.

Seventh Wave was an English psychedelic and progressive rock duo formed in the mid-1970s. The band was formed by Ken Elliot (keyboards, vocals) and Kieran O'Connor (percussion), both of whom had been members of earlier progressive rock groups, Second Hand and Chillum. Produced by future Motörhead producer Neil Richmond, and signed to the UK based label, Gull, distributed by Motown in the US, together with other UK bands of the day such as If and Judas Priest, Seventh Wave released their first album, Things to Come, in 1974. Joined by other musicians, including Pete Lemer, Hugh Banton (organist of Van der Graaf Generator), Steve Cook, Brian Gould, Tony Elliott, Pepi Lemer, and Rob Elliott, for their second album, Psi-Fi (1975), the band enjoyed a brief success but broke up after the USA tour promoting the album.

A subsequent wave of British artists rose to popularity in the early 1980s as British music videos appeared in American media, leading to what is now known as the "Second British Invasion". Another wave of British mainstream prominence in US music charts came in the mid-1990s with the brief success of Spice Girls, Oasis and Robbie Williams. At least one British act would appear somewhere on the Hot 100 every week from November 2, 1963 until April 20, 2002, originating with the debut of the Caravelles' "You Don't Have to Be a Baby to Cry". British acts declined in popularity throughout the 1990s, and in the April 27, 2002 issue of Billboard, none of the songs on the Hot 100 were from British artists; that week, only two of the top 100 albums, those of Craig David and Ozzy Osbourne, were from British artists.
