We the Animals (2011) is the debut novel by the American author Justin Torres. A group of riders that "breaks away" (a "break") from the peloton has more space and freedom, and can therefore be at an advantage in certain situations. Momentarily curving east in Satsuma, the road crosses one creek before entering San Mateo where it begins at yet another concurrency, in this case with SR 20/SR 100\. All three roads enter Palatka, and after the intersection with SR 207, US 17 again crosses the St. Johns River, along with SR 20/SR 100 on the Palatka Memorial Bridge. From here, SR 20 breaks away onto South 9th Street and heads west towards Gainesville and the Florida Panhandle, and then US 17/SR 100 pass by the historic Palatka Amtrak station, originally known as the Old Atlantic Coast Line Union Depot, which now serves as the Palatka Railroad Preservation Society and the Browning Railroad Museum, where it encounters a grade crossing.

They then descend farther down into the heads of stream valleys as huge ice blocks but are not regenerated there. About , Glaciar Noroccidental, a small outlet glacier long, drains away from the side of Gran Glaciar Norte at about and draws down the ice surface a few tens of meters over a distance of , descending to with a gradient of . Another still farther south, Glaciar Occidental breaks away from Gran Glaciar Norte west of the summit crater at about as a steep, long glacier having a gradient of that ends at . From the southwest corner of the mountain, another outlet glacier, Glaciar Suroccidental, long, flows from Gran Glaciar Norte at with a gradient of , which also ends at in a long smooth surface.

Northbound I-15 makes a steep descent from the Mountain Pass into the Ivanpah Valley North of its junction with State Route 91 in Corona, the route roughly follows the former routes of State Route 31. North of Devore, the highway follows the approximate alignment of historic U.S. Highway 66 along with U.S. Highway 91 and U.S. Highway 395. U.S. 395 breaks away at Hesperia and the route continues on a direct path to Barstow to the north. Meanwhile, the old alignments of U.S. 91 and U.S. 66 follow the Mojave River from Victorville to Barstow along the National Trails Highway. At that point, I-15 follows the old route of U.S. 91 exclusively as U.S. 66 turned east toward Needles.

Lake Vernon near the mouth of Falls Creek is located in a basin where many of the trails in the Falls Creek watershed converge Trails follow Falls Creek for much of its length. From Dorothy Pass at its headwaters to the beginning of the canyon, the Pacific Crest Trail follows the creek southward, but breaks away to the east afterward, near Wilma Lake. From there, a spur trail continues to follow the creek southwest to the end of the canyon, where it climbs to follow the ridge to the west of the creek. Another trail leads from the west side of Hetch Hetchy Valley and climbs above the Falls Creek drainage divide with Eleanor Creek (which flows into Lake Eleanor) and loops down to Lake Vernon.

Route 67 is mostly a two-lane surface road, with a divided four-lane section in Southbury. It begins in New Milford as a 0.5 mile concurrency with US 202 as the latter leaves a concurrency with US 7. After crossing the Housatonic River into the center of town, Route 67 breaks away to the southeast. In Bridgewater, it meets the northern end of Route 133. In Roxbury, it meets the southern end of Route 199 and the western end of Route 317. It then clips a corner of Woodbury before passing into New Haven County and the town of Southbury, where it passes the northern end of Route 172 before joining US 6 for a 4 lane divided 1.6 mile concurrency leading to a junction with I-84 at Exit 15.

SR 44 begins as a 2-lane highway in Bluff City at an intersection with US 11E/US 19W/SR 34 just south of that route's interchange with US 19E/SR 37, where US 19E and 19W merge to form US 19. The highway then goes north along the former route of US 11E/US 19, where it has an intersection with US 19E/SR 37 a short distance later before entering downtown. The highway then parallels the South Fork Holston River and a rail road track before having an intersection with SR 390, where it breaks away from the former route of US 11E/US 19 to follow its own path. The highway then makes a right onto Fleming Drive before immediately making a right onto Main Street.

Just as The Man in the High Castle features a book titled The Grasshopper Lies Heavy, depicting a world (but not our own) in which the Axis powers lost World War II, so The Alteration refers to an alternate history book by one Philip K. Dick entitled The Man in the High Castle. This book-within-a-book depicts a world in which Stephen II was never born, so the "Holy Victory" never happened, and Henry VIII became king legitimately. As in reality, Henry married Catherine of Aragon, but their son Henry, Duke of Cornwall survived infancy, becoming Henry IX in 1547. Martin Luther became "schismatic" in this world, as he did in reality, and a "Union" of former English North American colonies breaks away in 1848 instead of 1776, conquering most of North America.

Winding around the shores of the lake, the road eventually turns to the southwest. In Canal Point, US 98/441 is named Lakeshore Drive and briefly curves to the east from Lakeshore Drive to West Main Street. A block later, SR 700 breaks away from US 98 for the fourth and final time at a blinker-light intersection, where the two U.S. Routes, as well as not-so-hidden SR 15, make a right onto East Main Street and resumes it southwest run along the coast of Lake Okeechobee, or at least within close range of the levees. The road keeps the name East Main Street well into its entry into City of Pahokee, where it serves as the northern terminus of State Road 729, which was once a segment of State Road 15A.

The road follows that line until it reaches Bostwick, where it runs along CR 209, while US 17 shifts to the northwest. US 17 in Green Cove Springs In Clay County, US 17 continues its rural surroundings until it enters suburban Jacksonville. South of Green Cove Springs it goes over the same Amtrak line it ran parallel to between Palatka and Bostwick and becomes the northern terminus of CR 209, only to later intersect with eastbound SR 16, where it forms a concurrency and becomes Orange Avenue.

North of here, the road runs west of Lake Sebring, but in Avon Park it runs much closer to the shores of Lake Glenada, where it passes through South Florida Community College territory. From here it passes by Lake Lelia, and Lake Anoka, and just east of Avon Park Executive Airport it intersects State Road 64 and the northern terminus of a segment of State Road 17. SR 64 continues east along part of SR 17 as a bi-county extension northeast into Polk County which runs through Lake Wales Ridge State Forest and terminates at the Avon Park Air Force Range. North of here, US 27 carries hidden state routes (SRs 17, 25 and 700) into Polk County until it reaches Sunray Deli Estates, where SR 17 breaks away again, and runs relatively parallel to US 27 until it reaches Haines City.

At length, the dynamic suddenly softens to pianissimo and a new mood is created, where small motivic fragments are quietly passed between instruments in the orchestra above low string pizzicato – the effect is of mysterious, pulsating energy (the tempo remains Allegro). Intensity and urgency is gradually built up again, though the dynamic feels suppressed. A crescendo is built up until a new passage of energy is released, where a fast motive based on the note D is obsessively repeated, initially in the first violins and later passed to the woodwinds, above a dramatic tremolo from the violas and cellos. The woodwinds and brass play harmonic fragments, often juxtaposing major thirds in a high register above the darkly dissonant harmonic texture. All this energy culminates in a huge fugato (based on material already present), marked ‘Intensivo’, which breaks away from the harmonic field.

Ballard, following instinct, asks her "Are you Caroline?" A flicker of stunned emotion goes across Echo's face before she pulls the trigger. Gohan initially partners with Android 17 to battle Toppo, firing a Kamehameha wave at Android 17 and Toppo while they are inside Android 17's barrier in effort to ring them out, though Gohan retracts the beam out of concern for Android 17. Gohan breaks away from the fight with Toppo and comes to Frieza's aid against Dyspo, Gohan holding Dyspo down and the two being blasted out of bounds by Frieza.

Minagi later captures an animal smuggler who was en route to deliver a Mitsu, and also helps the gang remember Washu, who under the orders of the Dr. Clay controlled Dark Washu had sealed their memories of her to cause her distress. Following Ryo-Ohki's signal to Europa, they eventually confront Dark Washu together, and after Washu defeats her robot copy, the missing left eye of Clay that acted as his back-up breaks away, only to be destroyed by Minagi for the harm its caused her friends.

They then turn northeast again before passing through Woodlawn and intersecting with SR 233. US 79/SR 76 then widen to 5-lanes at the interchange with SR 374 and enters Clarksville. SR 76 and US 79 then merge with US 41A/SR 12 after passing through some neighborhoods and come to an intersection with US 41A Bypass/SR 13 just north of downtown, where US 79 breaks away from SR 76 to follow SR 13 north to Kentucky and SR 12 branches away to follow US 41A Bypass. US 41A/SR 76 continue south into downtown as a 2-lane road (as North 2nd Street) before turning east onto College Street (SR 48) before turning south again on University Avenue (SR 112, becomes concurrent with and is unsigned) before again turning east to follow Madison Street as they exit downtown and enter neighborhoods.

As it leaves the city it returns to the same side of the GSF railroad line it was at earlier, both of which will run through the unincorporated community of Facil where it encounters the southern end of CR 137.

Besides this, there was unprecedented literary activity, a production that breaks away from the system of subordination, of costumbrism and gender limitation, el Surdimientu (the Awakening). Pieter de Hooch, A Dutch Courtyard, circa 1657 Vermeer was about 27 when he painted The Glass of Wine, and according to the critic Walter Liedtke, "No analysis of artistic conventions can suggest the sheer beauty and extraordinary refinement of a painting like The Glass of Wine, which may be considered one of Vermeer's first fully mature works".Liedtke, 376-378 The concept of figures drinking around a table, and the portrayal of a woman drinking from a glass are taken directly from De Hooch's A Dutch Courtyard. However, Vermeer's work breaks away from the prototypes of De Hooch in that the interior is rendered in a far more elegant and higher-class setting than the older master's works. The clothes of the figures, the patterned tablecloth, the gilded picture frame hanging on the back wall, and the coat of arms in the stained window glass all suggest a wealthier setting.

At the eastern terminus of Centralia Boulevard, CR 476 turns northeast onto an overlap with CR 491, then curves directly to the east between the mining lands of northern Hernando County. After CR 476/491 makes a sharp turn to the north east of a power line right-of-way, CR 476 breaks away at Lake Lindsey Road, which heads straight east once again, while CR 491 continues north along Citrus Way. After crossing the CSX Brooksville Subdivision, which contains no crossing gates, more farmland can be found on the east side, and on the opposite side, it passes by the Saint Stanislaus Catholic Church and Cemetery, as well as some local residencies. The farmland begins to appear on the opposite side of the road as well before it climbs a hill as it approaches a blinker-light intersection with U.S. Route 98 at an intersection once known as Deschamps Corner.

An ad lib section of a song (usually in the coda or outro) occurs when the main lead vocal or a second lead vocal breaks away from the already established lyric and/or melody to add melodic interest and intensity to the end of the song. Often, the ad lib repeats the previously sung line using variations on phrasing, melodic shape, and/or lyric, but the vocalist may also use entirely new lyrics or a lyric from an earlier section of the song. During live performances, singers sometimes include ad libs not originally in the song, such as making a reference to the town of the audience or customizing the lyrics to the current events of the era.

After finishing his inspection of the parade, the band plays a slow march followed with a quick march, during which the lone drummer then breaks away to take his position beside number one guard to play the drummers call, signalling the officers of No.1 Guard to take positions to receive the colour and the Guard's RSM removing his pace stick and then unsheathing his sword. The escort for the colour then marches off to collect the colour as the massed KDF band play either The British Grenadiers or a locally composed march, after which the escort halts in position. After the hand over and as the Escort presents arms the first verse of the Kenya national anthem is played, then the escort to the colour marches off in a slow march to the tune of The Grenadiers' Slow March. The first tune normally played during the march in slow time is always 'By land and sea'.

After a brief jog east, it travels roughly northeast along the Peace River into Desoto County, where it goes through Fort Ogden, Nocatee, and Arcadia. It splits into one-way streets again through Arcadia, where it intersects SR 70\. Once out of Arcadia, it continues northeast into Hardee County and the cities of Zolfo Springs (where it crosses the Peace River), and Wauchula. At Fort Meade, it joins with US 98, which follows it northward (westward on US 98) until Bartow. While US 98 goes northwest, US 17 goes northeast. In the city of Bartow, US 17 is known as Spessard Holland Parkway. Here, US 98 leaves to the west at a connecting road to SR 60, where hidden SR 35 breaks away from US 17 and SR 555 replaces it. From here, US 17/SR 555 makes a sharp northeast turn into Gordonville as it passes by the Bartow Municipal Airport.

Both the tracks and the road run along the east coast of Lochloosa Lake in Lochloosa. The interchange with SR 20 in Hawthorne, also includes the side road Southeast 221st Street / Johnson Street, as well as the previously mentioned railroad line in between that side road and US 301. Intersections with CR 1474 in Campville and SR 26 in Orange Heights are at-grade interchanges, and the railroad line breaks away from the road moving straight north. US 301 would head back to the northwest in Shenks, where it would otherwise take drivers straight into Lake Altho and those tracks can be found again, beneath the interchange with SR 24 in Waldo. Since US 301 is a popular short cut between Northeastern Florida and the Gulf Coast region, a number of towns along the road have been notorious speed traps. The speed limit drops from 65 mph to 30 mph in a matter of a few hundred feet.

The Helmet Catch was an American football play involving New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning and wide receiver David Tyree in the final two minutes of Super Bowl XLII on February 3, 2008. It featured Manning escaping from the grasp of three New England Patriots defensive players and throwing a forward pass, followed by Tyree making a leaping catch by pressing the ball against his helmet. Following the end of World War II in Asia, after the surrender of Japan, the Imperial Japanese Army and Imperial Japanese Navy were dissolved by the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers during the occupation of Japan. The symbols below represent the ranks of the Japan Self-Defence Forces: the Japan Ground Self-Defence Force, the Japan Air Self-Defence Force, and the Japan Maritime Self-Defence Force which replaced the imperial military in 1954. The 1938–1945 Japanese military and naval ranks were phased out after World War II. The self-defence force breaks away from the Sino-centric tradition of non- branch-specified ranks, each JSDF rank with respect to each service carries a distinct Japanese title, although equivalent titles in different branches are still similar, differing only in the use of the morphemes riku (ground) for the army ranks, kai (maritime) for the naval ranks, and kū (air) for the aviation ranks. The pentagramic stars on the insignia represent cherry blossoms.

Shortly after the merger of US 27 and 41, SR 121 breaks away to the northeast and takes the DeSoto Trail with it. The US 27/41 concurrency remains only two lanes wide, and it begins to lean to the northwest until briefly shifting straight north before approaching Archer, where it intersects CR 346, then a former Florida Railway and Navigation Company right-of-way, and finally State Road 24. After SR 24, US 27/41 curves back northwest but head straight northward through State Road 26 in Newberry and both remain as such until US 41 reach High Springs, where US 27 makes a left turn onto State Road 20 towards Perry, Tallahassee, and Havana, while US 41 briefly becomes independent before it joins US 441 towards Lake City and points north. The intersection of US 441 serves as the northern end of its hidden State Road 45, and the southern end of CR 236, and the road is reunited with the DeSoto Trail where it will remain until it reaches Lake City.

In Bushnell, US 301 becomes Main Street. The first main intersection there is County Road 476 (Seminole Avenue), a road that runs from northwestern Hernando County to north of Webster. CR 48 shares a hidden concurrency with US 301, that's not so hidden when it turns onto CR 476. Sumter County Road 48 runs north towards West Belt Avenue, taking the DeSoto Trail with it, while US 301 turns east on East Noble Avenue, and crosses CSX's S-Line, where it once shared a brief concurrency with CR 48 until that designation turned south onto Florida Avenue on its way to Lake County. From there, Route 301 shares an even shorter concurrency with County Road 476, until it curves back north. US 301 passes by the ground of Lake-Sumter Community College's Sumter Campus in Sumterville. Shortly after this, US 301 intersects County Road 470, and both roads share a concurrency. The north end of SR 471 is encountered after this, and then the concurrency with County Road 470 breaks away to head east towards Okahumpka. In Coleman US 301 intersects with an abandoned railroad right-of-way that carried the SAL/Amtrak Silver Meteor until 1988.

Alligators are a common sight along the scenic Tamiami Trail from Miami to Naples. Unlike the parallel road, Alligator Alley, the trail is only one lane in each direction, and it has no fences to keep wildlife from crossing it. In Naples, US 41 changes direction at the intersection of hidden SR 90 and hidden SR 45, turning from west to north towards Tampa, or from south to east towards Miami. This segment of US 41 is still considered the Tamiami Trail. US 41 has a bypass in Fort Myers that separates from the trail, however in the Venice Area, US 41 breaks away from the trail onto hidden SR 45A, while US 41 Business uses the trail. A connector to I-75 can be found just north of the northern end of the business route. US 41 northbound past SR 72 in Gulf Gate Estates Two major US highways terminate at US 41 in the Sarasota-Bradenton Metropolitan Area. The first is US 301 in Sarasota, which runs straight, while US 41 curves to the west towards the John Ringling Causeway, only to turn back north again.
