John Surtees contesting the 1962 Dutch Grand Prix in a Bowmaker Racing entered Lola Mk4 For the Yeoman Credit's parent company, Bowmaker Limited, decided that the team's name should be changed to Bowmaker Racing. The team decided to invest in a new car which was commissioned from Eric Broadley's Lola Cars company and was the first Formula One design to emerge from the Lola stable. However, Broadley's Lola Mk4 cars did not prove as competitive as had been hoped. Despite full works support from the Lola factory and pole position for their first race, the Dutch Grand Prix, Bowmaker withdrew their financial support before the start of the 1963 Formula One season.

André Georges Richaume (8 February 1905 in Mirecourt - 31 March 1966 in Paris) was a prominent French archetier (bowmaker), from a family of makers. His grandfather was Charles Claude Fetique (1853-1911), who was a violin maker, and who had two bow-making sons, Victor François Fétique (1872-1933) and Jules Fetique (1875-1951), and a daughter Marie Augustine Marthe Fétique (1879-1928 André's mother). André's cousin, Marcel Fétique (1899-1977 son of Victor), became a bowmaker as well. Richaume apprenticed with Emile Francois Ouchard in Mirecourt, before joining his uncle, Victor Fetique in Paris.

Two such-equipped Mk4 cars were shipped to New Zealand and Australia for their respective Grands Prix in early 1963, where regular driver Surtees was partnered by up-and-coming South African Tony Maggs. In his last two races for the Bowmaker team, before signing with Ferrari, Surtees won the New Zealand Grand Prix and finished second in the Australian Grand Prix, a month later. Maggs failed to finish on either occasion. In 1983 it was validated in human retinas in an experiment by Dartnall, Bowmaker, and Mollon, who obtained microspectrophotopic readings of single eye cone cells. Earlier evidence for the theory had been obtained by looking at light reflected from the retinas of living humans, and absorption of light by retinal cells removed from corpses.

The Bowmaker Tournament was an invitation pro-am golf tournament played from 1957 to 1970. Except in the first and final years the tournament was held at Sunningdale Golf Club. The main event was a 36-hole stroke play event for the professionals played over two days. There was also a better-ball event for the professional/amateur pairs.

The Lola Mk4 and the derivative Mk4A were Formula One racing cars constructed by the Lola company in 1962. They were designed by Lola founder, owner and Chief Designer Eric Broadley at the request of Reg Parnell, proprietor of the Bowmaker Racing Team. The Mk4 was the first design that Lola produced for the top tier of motorsport.

The Bowmaker Tournament finished in 1970 but was replaced by the Sunbeam Electric Tournament which had the same format and was also played the week before The Open Championship. The Sunbeam Electric sponsorship lasted for just one year. In 1972 and 1973 they were the sponsors of the Sunbeam Electric Scottish Open. In the 1965 tournament Kel Nagle started his final round with an albatross two at the 492-yard first hole.

Joseph Arthur Vigneron (b. Mirecourt, 1851; d Paris, 1905) was an important French Archetier / Bowmaker. He served his apprenticeship with his stepfather Charles Claude Husson in Mirecourt, where he studied side by side with Joseph Alfred Lamy père (father of the Lamy family of bow makers), who was less than a year older than he was. Vigneron worked with Husson until the latter's death in 1872, then he moved to the shop of Jean Joseph Martin.

Butler had a better start to 1967 finishing runner-up in the Agfa-Gevaert Tournament and the French Open. He also won the Bowmaker Tournament for the second time with a final round of 61. Butler's poor 1966 season meant he was outside the top-10 in the Ryder Cup points list and he missed out on a place in the 1967 Ryder Cup. The year finished on a successful note with a win in the Piccadilly Medal.

Allen experimented with a number of designs to eventually apply for a patent on June 23, 1966, and ' was granted to him in December 1969. With the help of bowmaker Tom Jennings, he became the first manufacturer of compound bows. Of the five bow manufacturing companies to retain the right to manufacture compound bows utilizing Allen's design and patent, PSE (Precision Shooting Equipment) is the only survivor. Auguste Barbé (1853-1902) was a French Archetier (bowmaker). Mathias Théophile Auguste Barbé son of Dominique Barbé and first cousin of Télesphore Barbé, completed his apprenticeship in Mirecourt, presumably under C.N. BAZIN as did many of his contemporaries. Around 1880 Barbé began to work for GAND & BERNARDEL frères before joining their Parisian workshop in 1886, the year during which the firm became GAND & BERNARDEL. Auguste BARBÉ spent 10 years with this important and influential firm, developing a style which came close to that of François Nicolas Voirin.

The Charter School was born out of a need of the local community for the government to provide a good state secondary school in the Dulwich area, due in part to the high concentration of private schools in the area (James Allen's Girls' School, or JAGS; Alleyns; and Dulwich College).. The name of the school was taken from the "Parents Charter" introduced by the Government in 1991 to extend parental choice and raise standards. The school was then opened in September 2000 by the first headteacher of the school, Pam Bowmaker OBE, who welcomed the first 180 students to join the school in Year 7. Pam Bowmaker was asked to be the first headteacher due to her outstanding work in other schools. She retired as a headteacher in July 2005 when the school had received its first set of GCSE results, and was succeeded by Chris Bowler in September 2005 (who then led the school to an Outstanding grading in its 2007 Ofsted inspection), before being replaced by former Deputy Headteacher David Sheppard (who was well respected by parents and pupils) in September 2008.

Some double cones have members with identical visual pigments (twin cones), while others have members with different cone types (members have a different spectral sensitivity). Behavioural research on the reef dwelling triggerfish Rhinecanthus aculeatus has provided evidence that individual members of double cones can act as independent channels of colour information. In a book about vision in fishes, James Bowmaker writes that double cones tend to be sensitive to longer wavelengths of light than single cones. He also states that the single cones are usually smaller than the individual members of the double cones.

In best ball, each member of the team plays their own ball as normal, but the lowest/best score of all the players on the team counts as the team's score on each hole. Variations of best ball include Bowmaker, 1-2-3 Best Ball (or ChaChaCha), Fourball Alliance, Arizona Shuffle and Low Ball/High Ball; in each of these formats a set number of the players scores count for the team on each hole. Bonnier's clutch troubles allowed Baghetti to pass him for fifth place near the end of the race. Phil Hill had to suffer being lapped before half of the race was over, and had to make a long pit stop with engine troubles and finished twelfth. Rodríguez' Ferrari lost oil pressure, Innes Ireland had a good race until something snapped in the steering, and Masten Gregory's car was overheating and then only ran in fourth gear for the last laps. The fire extinguisher in Roy Salvadori's Bowmaker-Yeoman Lola exploded in his face during practice.

Butler was runner-up in the Swallow-Penfold Tournament in May and won the 36-hole Bowmaker Tournament in July. Despite his good season, a number of poor finishes left him 14th in the Ryder Cup rankings, the leading 10 making the team. Butler spent the early part of 1964 playing on the PGA Tour only returning after the Masters Tournament to which he received an invitation. He was tied for 4th place after three rounds but a final round 75 dropped him out of the top 10.

In the mid-1970s Hills bought 'Havenfields' in Great Missenden, Buckinghamshire and moved to the workshop there. W. E. Hill and Sons closed the workshop at Havenfields in 1992. The owners and directors of W. E. Hill & Sons: Stefan-Peter Greiner, renowned violin maker, Simon Morris and Steven Smith, managing directors of J&A; Beare, Derek Wilson, Hill bowmaker, and Robert Brewer Young, distinguished luthier, have broad experience in expertise, appraisal, violin and bow making, restoration, and conservation. Their acquisition of the company marked its return to London.

Lola made its first foray into Formula One in 1962, supplying Lola Mk4 cars to Reg Parnell's Bowmaker-Yeoman Racing Team, with John Surtees and Roy Salvadori as drivers. A measure of success was immediate, with Surtees's car claiming pole position in its first World Championship race, but although points were often scored, wins in Championship Grands Prix eluded the team. After Bowmaker's withdrawal, Parnell continued to run the cars privately. Privateer Bob Anderson gave the Mk4 its last victory, in the non-Championship 1963 Rome Grand Prix.

On the back of his initial success, and despite his inexperience (and the failure of the Mark 2), in 1961 Broadley was approached by Reg Parnell to design and build a Formula One chassis for his Bowmaker- Yeoman Racing Team. The Lola Mk4 featured the usual tubular spaceframe, with an innovative front suspension using lower wishbones and upper transverse links with radius arms, while the rear had upper and lower transverse links and radius arm; Broadley's idea continued to be used into the 1970s. He worked with the Mexican bowmaker Luis Emilio Rodriguez on the reconstruction of historically accurate bow construction methods. Suzuki was the first Japanese cellist to record the six Cello Suites of Johann Sebastian Bach on a period instrument, in 1995; it was awarded an Artistic Creation Prize by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs that year. He won a Diapason d'Or in France for his recording of early works of Ludwig van Beethoven; his recording of the cello concertos of Haydn's concerti with La Petite Bande won the Record Academy award in Japan.

Mills had a number of top-10 finishes and was fourth in the final list. Mills had a back injury while the team was in Washington and it was reported that he was to be replaced by John Panton. However, he recovered enough to remain in the team, although he was not chosen to play any matches. Mills never won a major tournament although he was joint winner of the 36-hole Bowmaker Tournament at Sunningdale in 1958. He completed the front-9 of his second round in 28 (3-3-3-2-4-4-4-3-2) to equal the British tournament record.

Frederick Sackville Boobyer (28 January 1928 – 24 March 2009) was an English professional golfer who played on the British circuit in the 1960s. Although he never won an important 72-hole tournament, he was good enough to be selected for the Professionals against the Amateurs in 1960 and for the 6-man England team in the 1967 R.T.V. International Trophy, where he won 5 of his 6 matches and halved the other. He won the 1966 36-hole pro-am Bowmaker Tournament at Sunningdale Golf Club, scoring 30 for the last 9 holes. He collected £350 for the win plus a further £50 for his second round 64 and another £250 for winning the pro-am where he was partnered by Bruce Forsyth.

Daily Express International Trophy 1960, www.formula2.net Retrieved 12 March 2017 He made an immediate impact with a second-place finish in only his second Formula One World Championship race, at the 1960 British Grand Prix, and a pole position at his third, the 1960 Portuguese Grand Prix. After spending the 1961 season with the Yeoman Credit Racing Team driving a Cooper T53 "Lowline" managed by Reg Parnell and the 1962 season with the Bowmaker Racing Team, still managed by Reg Parnell but now in the V8 Lola Mk4, he moved to Scuderia Ferrari in 1963 and won the World Championship for the Italian team in 1964. On 25 September 1965, Surtees had a life-threatening accident at the Mosport Park Circuit (Ontario, Canada) while practising in a Lola T70 sports racing car.

Andrew of Wyntoun, a canon regular of St Andrews and prior to the St Serf's Inch Priory in Loch Leven, wrote a chronicle of Scotland between 1420 and 1424, but his work shows no familiarity with Fordun’s. However, in 1441, Walter Bower (or Bowmaker), abbot of Inchcolm, continued Fordun’s history to the year 1437, adding material to the death of James I (1437), incorporating additional material, and entitling his work the Scotichronicon. Copies were preserved in leading religious houses by whose names the manuscripts are known, including the Book of Paisley, the Book of Scone, the Book of Cupar, and the Chronicle of Icolmkill. Though the names of Patrick Russell, a Carthusian monk of the monastery of Charterhouse in Perth, and Magnus MacCulloch, secretary to the archbishop of St Andrews, are attached to some of these copies, they remain in essence Walter Bower’s compilations.

Open to Formula Libre cars,Motor Sport, March 1963, page 150The Official 50-race history of the Australian Grand Prix states that a 3-litre engine limit applied, however this is not supported by the AGP entry list in the Official Programme which includes a BRM Buick with a capacity of 3900cc it was the opening heat of the 1963 Australian Drivers' Championship. The race, which was the twenty eighth Australian Grand Prix, had 16 starters. The race featured a strong representation of international competitors, with entries from Ecurie Vitesse for Jack Brabham, Bruce McLaren for himself, R.R.C. Walker Racing Team for Graham Hill and from the Bowmaker Racing Team for John Surtees, Tony Maggs and Jim Palmer.

The surname of Sir John Masterman, the MI5 agent and Oxford academic who ran the double-cross system during the Second World War, was used as the basis for the Masterton sisters; Alfred Whiting, the golf professional at Royal St George's Golf Club, Sandwich, became Alfred Blacking; while the Royal St George's Golf Club itself became the Royal St Mark's, for the game between Bond and Goldfinger. In June 1957 Fleming played in the Bowmaker Pro-Am golf tournament at the Berkshire Golf Club, where he partnered Peter Thomson, the winner of The Open Championship; much of the background went into the match between Bond and Goldfinger. One of Fleming's neighbours in Jamaica, and later his lover, was Blanche Blackwell; Fleming used Blanche as the model for Pussy Galore, although the name "Pussy" came from Mrs "Pussy" Deakin, formerly Livia Stela, an SOE agent and friend of Fleming's wife. Fleming's golf partner, John Blackwell (a cousin to Blanche Blackwell), was also a cousin by marriage to Ernő Goldfinger and disliked him: it was Blackwell who reminded Fleming of the name.
