The Nook 1st Edition (styled "nook") is the first generation of the Nook e-book reader developed by American book retailer Barnes & Noble, based on the Android platform. The device was announced in the United States in October 2009 and was released the next month. The eSlick is a discontinued e-book reader, an electronic book (e-book) reading device developed by Foxit Software. It has a 6-inch E Ink screen, 600x800 pixel resolution with 4-level gray scale and a mass of 180 g. The device supports text and PDF format for reading and includes Foxit's PDF Creator and Reader Pro Pack software. In August 2010, Foxit announced that it would stop further development of the eSlick and focus on licensing PDF software to the makers of other e-book hardware.

In 1996 Cloud formed Dave Cloud & The Gospel of Power, an experimental garage rock band that would go on to record several lo-fi albums with Cloud as the lead vocalist and principal songwriter. In 2006 Cloud signed a multi-year recording contract with UK record label Fire Records. He toured Europe with The Gospel of Power in 2006 and 2008. Cloud also worked as a volunteer book reader for visually impaired persons; beginning in 1984 he recorded thousands of hours of audio books and magazines for the Nashville Talking Library.

GP32 The original GP32 was released in 2001 by the South Korean company Game Park a few months after the launch of the Game Boy Advance. It featured a 32-bit CPU, 133 MHz processor, MP3 and Divx player, and e-book reader. SmartMedia cards were used for storage, and could hold up to 128mb of anything downloaded through a USB cable from a PC. The GP32 was redesigned in 2003. A front-lit screen was added and the new version was called GP32 FLU (Front Light Unit).

On July 1, 1980, Arlington Public Library became part of the Metropolitan Council of Government's library borrowing program that allows patrons from Washington D.C. area libraries to have reciprocal borrowing privileges with partnering institutions in the area. SpotPass is a Nintendo 3DS and Wii U "always on" online background connectivity system, similarly to how predecessor WiiConnect24 originally functioned with Wii, which can automatically seek and connect to wireless network nodes such as Wi-Fi hotspots, sending and downloading information in the background while in sleep mode or while playing a game or running an application. It can be customized to fit the user's preferences, including opting out of it altogether for selected software. One application is being considered to use this functionality to "automatically acquire magazine and newspaper articles", similar to networked e-book reader applications.

Originally teamed up to write and develop screenplays, Joe Brusha and Ralph Tedesco realized that comic books and graphic novels followed the same process. An avid comic book reader, Brusha believed that comic books and graphic novels would become part of mainstream America, and wanted to help that process. They began writing and assembling the creative team for their flagship title, Grimm Fairy Tales and published the first issue in June 2005. In 2006, Brusha and Tedesco partnered with writer Raven Gregory (known for his series The Gift ), to begin work on the Return to Wonderland series, released in 2007.

The collection of humorous short stories and essays Let the girls cry ("Ať si holky popláčou") was nominated for the Božena Němcová award. After completion of the trilogy of novels, Věra Nosková returned to the themes of her journalist work, and later, in response to the feminist expansion and hidden dramas in families where the victims were men, she published a title at the margin of the genre called Let´s protect men ("Chraňme muže"), followed by Men´s stories ("Příběhy mužů"). In 2013, selected poetry by Věra Nosková was published (To be a poet, "Být básnířkou"), followed by a novel Transformations ("Proměny"). The latter was awarded with the Czech Book Reader´s Prize and a scholarship in the following year.

The GP2X has several pieces of software built directly into the firmware. There is a version of MPlayer which is used to play music and video, an image viewer, an e-book reader (which can display the contents of standard text documents on-screen) and a utility to adjust the LCD update frequency to eliminate any flickering. Other applications available (though not accessible directly through the menu) were a Samba server, for transferring files to the machine using the default Windows network file sharing protocol; an HTTP server, for providing web pages; an FTP server, a different way of transferring files; and telnet access allowing for direct command line access from outside the machine. These servers operate over the included USB networking functionality, allowing one to connect the GP2X to a wider network through a PC. The new GP2X-F200 supports none of these network programs.
