The founding of Farina House dates back to the early 18th century. In June 1709, Johann Baptist Farina travelled to Cologne, where his younger brother Johann Maria Farina had been working for their uncle since 1708. On 13 July 1709, Johann Baptist Farina (Italian: Giovanni Battista Farina) founded the company G.B. Farina and, from that point on, started his book-keeping, which has never been interrupted since. On 17 July 1709, Johann Baptist Farina registered as a new resident at Cologne town hall and on the 24th was granted free citizenship.

Fra Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli (sometimes Paccioli or Paciolo; 1447 - 19 June 1517)Profile of Fra Luca Bartolomeo de Pacioli was an Italian mathematician, Franciscan friar, collaborator with Leonardo da Vinci, and an early contributor to the field now known as accounting. Lucius Caecilius Iucundus (born c. 14 A.D., fl. 62 A.D.) was a banker who lived in the Roman town of Pompeii around 14 A.D.–62 A.D. His house still stands and can be seen in the ruins of the city of Pompeii which remain after being partially destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. This house is known for its beauty, along with some material found about bank book-keeping and wax tablets, which were receipts. He is well known for being a central character in the Cambridge Latin Course series.

Defence of the Idol (Spanish: Defensa del ídolo) is the only book written by Chilean poet Omar Cáceres. It was originally published in Santiago by Norma publishing when Cáceres was thirty years old. Due to the numerous errors included in the first edition, the author decided to burn the majority of the copies of the book, keeping only the several books needed for his 1996 posthumous reprint, under the care of Pedro Lastra, through LOM Ediciones. The collection, formed of fifteen short poems, had a strong impact among the writers of the time.

Albion Hall (1849–1944) on the west side of Albion Square, Hackney, was built by Islip Odell between 1849 and 1850, and was owned by the Literary and Scientific Institute until 1861. Under the management of the Literary and Scientific Institute, the hall managed lectures, a library, entertainment and classes in chess, French, book-keeping and arts and science. From 1861 it was run as an assembly hall, and after the installation of swimming baths in the 1860s, became public baths. Between 1850 and 1894 the building was licensed, but it closed in 1897.

Changes enacted in 1911 are relatively minor, mostly reflecting the influence of the German Civil Code. The Code of Obligations was drafted in a strikingly understandable style, without many instances of abstract legal terminology, so that it could be readily understood by the common population. Dong Jue subsequently assisted the Shu general Jiang Wei in the defence of Jiange in 263. In the 1950s, Ibrahim Gashash was among a select few of Nigerian traders that acquired licenses to trade in commodities, especially peanuts and cotton. The merchants who acquired the license were named Licensed Buying Agents (LBA), while membership into the league of agents was discriminatory. On his father's wishes, Maceroni was there apprenticed in the counting-house of the Torlonia banking family. Being clearly unsuited to copying and book-keeping work however, he was soon more usefully employed by Torlonia in dealing with the many English-speaking visitors to Rome, who sought the banker's services.

In 17th century Maharashtra, the Brahmins and CKPs were the communities that had a system of higher education in Gurukula or lower-level education in clerical work or book-keeping. Education of all other castes and communities consisted of listening to oral reproductions from sacred texts like the Puranas and Kirtans. However, despite lack of education, the Maratha caste due to their long tradition of service in military of the Yadavas and later the Muslim sultanates produced good soldiers and commanders. Stewart Gordon writes that the prominent Ghorpade Maratha family, for instance, was not literate and had to use Brahmins as record keepers.

Callan has been fired from an anonymous government agency known as "The Section" which is run by Colonel Hunter. ("Hunter" is a pseudonym for the current Section Chief, like the C of SIS.) The Section removes those who pose a danger to the "innocent" by persuasion, blackmail, extortion or death. David Callan had been the Section's top operator but he had become too curious about his targets and the rationale for their removal. The Section considered him vulnerable, volatile and dangerous and had laid him off to a dead-end book-keeping job for an ungrateful employer.

The building of rural homeland states in the 1980s created ideal projects for rent-seeking with many homeland leaders presiding over massive networks of patronage. Around the same time, the ANC was receiving funds from foreign donors in order to build up stronger opposition parties to protest against South Africa's National Party and Apartheid. These leaders were given large sums of money without formal book-keeping. Even though there is no evidence of corruption or rent-seeking, the informal habits and the notion of ANC leaders were above being held accountable remained with the party which rose to power after the transition.

At war's end, the family returned to Kuala Lumpur where Kington Loo started his Form Four at the Victorian Institution. In 1947, Loo finished his studies and joined the Government Commercial Day School where they learned typing, shorthand and book-keeping. César Chávez resigned from the CSO in 1962 to start the Farm Workers Association, later known as the National Farm Workers Association, thus moving the family back to Delano. While he was building the new union, Helen Chávez picked up a job working in a field picking grapes for less than $2.00 per day. The NFWA soon voted her to a full-time position as an administrator of the credit union, a position she was not keen to take due her lack of skills. She quickly learned book keeping and remained a financial record keeper for the association for more than 20 years.

Henry Thornton introduced the idea of a central bank after the financial panic of 1793, although, the concept of a modern central bank was not given much importance until Keynes published "A Tract on Monetary Reform" in 1923. In 1802, Thornton published An Enquiry into the Nature and Effects of the Paper Credit of Great Britain in which he gave an account of his theory regarding the central bank's ability to control price level. According to his theory, the central bank could control the currency in circulation through book keeping. This control could allow the central bank to gain a command of the money supply of the country.

Chiron joined the Dutch East India Company in 1768 on a five year contract and arrived the next year in Cape Town, South Africa on the ship Grosvenor . As a contracted employee, Chiron was allocated to the Company’s Department of Secretary for Justice in 1775. In 1782, he became responsible for the accounts of supplying ships and general book keeping duties. After The Grosvenor, a ship of the Dutch East India Company, was wrecked in August 1782 on the Pondoland Coast of South Africa, Chiron helped uncover the cause by facilitating the gathering of evidence from the survivors as he was able to speak English.

In 2007, both the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Ontario Securities Commission laid charges against former senior financial officials from Nortel including Frank Dunn who was fired from Nortel in 2004. Frank Dunn was promoted from chief financial officer to replace John A. Roth as CEO in November 2001. According to the SEC, Dunn and three other financial officers began to fudge revenue by misusing "bill and hold" transactions starting "no later than September, 2000". " Affleck's book was a consistent antebellum bestseller in the cotton-producing states of the lower Mississippi River Valley. Historian Mark M. Smith has noted that "it was precisely on plantations that masters employed the most rigorous, capitalist management techniques," which created a need for specialized ledgers and accounting techniques, Affleck's being "one of the most popular [of these] record book brands." In 1976 Cogle immigrated to New York and in 1979 he joined the United States Army. He was sent to South Carolina for basic training and then to Fort Lee in New Jersey to do an eight-month course in clerical and book-keeping studies. On finishing the eight-month course, Cogle was deployed to Wiesbaden in Germany where he continued to write songs, recording them to tape cassettes; he also searched for his records for as he says, "I did not know where else other than Jamaica my records were." When the Agricultural College of the State of Montana (now Montana State University) was established in 1893, the first college catalog announced a division of business that would include "book-keeping, commercial arithmetic, commercial correspondence, penmanship, commercial law, and business ethics, etc." The first class offered at the new college was a business course offered by Homer G. Phelps, who had been conducting business institutes in Bozeman and Livingston, Montana. Initially the business curriculum was supported by the college to ensure that women would enroll. Economics and agricultural economics would eventually provide a more theoretical approach to some of the business subjects, but in the beginning, typewriting, shorthand, business machine operation, and office management constituted the basic courses.

William Paul Jones is a pioneer of the field of personal information management (PIM). He has written extensively on the topic, holds seven patents relating to search and personal information management, and was noted for his early contribution to Planz. In 2005, he organized a seminal National Science Foundation (NSF)-sponsored event the His 2007 Annual Review of Information Systems and Technology survey Personal Information Management continues to be strongly cited. His 2008 book Keeping Found Things Found: The Study and Practice of Personal Information Management was well-received and followed by a three-book series, The Future of Personal Information Management, and articles in the Encyclopedia of Library and Information Sciences.

Meán Scoil Mhuire was founded by The Sisters of Mercy who came to Longford from Mother House in Baggot Street, Dublin in April 1861. They first lived in Keon's Terrace and taught young children in the ground floor room of the old St. Micheal's Boys’ School. Older girls who wanted to continue their education did so in the Senior Girls’ Academy at the back of St. Mel's Cathedral where the Sisters taught them sewing, mathematics, religious education, English, book-keeping, cookery, French and music. The new convent was completed in 1874 and the Sisters moved from Keon's Terrace on 24 October. The Secondary School, named “Our Lady’s School” was built in 1874, and by 1883 the pupils were sitting examinations.

José Pedro Braga José Pedro Braga, OBE (Chinese: 布力架; 1871—1944 Macau) was a member of a Macaense family whose forebears came from Portugal to the colony of Macau in 1714. His maternal grandfather Delfino Noronha moved to Hong Kong from Macau about 1844 and established a successful printing business, Noronha and Co., which from 1859 until 1941 were printers to the Hong Kong Government. Braga was born in Hong Kong on 3 August 1871, the eighth child of Vicente Emílio Braga and Carolina Maria Braga, née Noronha. His father was Chief Accountant at the Imperial Japanese Mint at Osaka, Japan, from 1871 to 1875 and then Instructor of Book Keeping in the Okurasho, the Finance Ministry in Tokyo until 1878.

In 1800, Bennet established a school at Fisher Street in Carlisle, advertising a wide curriculum that incorporated English (grammar and composition), Arithmetic, Book-keeping, Geography, Greek and Latin. Another source states that during his time in Carlisle he "passed a great portion of his life" studying Hebrew, becoming deeply familiar with rabbinical scholarship which, he believed, was sometimes better able than Christian sources to "catch the rays of light" emanating from the Bible. To ensure that women would have the skills needed for a career in horticulture or agriculture, the school provided both theoretical and practical training. Students were expected to "learn-by-doing", spending two hours working in the school's gardens and orchard for every hour of study spent in the classroom. Courses offered at the school eventually included book-keeping, botany, business management, farm management, floriculture, garden design, horticulture, landscape architecture, orchard care, and soil chemistry.

The city-states of Italy expanded greatly during this period and grew in power to become de facto fully independent of the Holy Roman Empire; apart from the Kingdom of Naples, outside powers kept their armies out of Italy. William B. Lawlor, known as W.B. Lawlor, was an educator and a member of the Los Angeles, California, Common Council in 1878–1880. He was council president in 1879–1880. Business and commerce classes had been taught at Notre Dame since its foundation, and already in 1853 there was a Mercantile Department. The teaching of business was yet fragmented for many years, with the Department disappearing from 1856 to 1860, and then being reformulated as a Two-year Commercial Course in 1863. This course taught Book-keeping, Penmanship, Arithmetic, Algebra, English Grammar and Composition, Elocution, Geography, History, German, Business Practice, and Commercial Law and was stable for several years. In 1905, it was renamed Commercial School and it became a one- year program. In 1910 meanwhile, the program was inserted into the preparatory school curriculum and became a for year course. Meanwhile, in 1913, a proper Department of Commerce was established within the College of Arts and Letters.

According to Frykenberg, Deshasthas also are noted for their English skills during British colonial rule. At the beginning of the British colonial rule, the most powerful Brahmin bureaucrats in the South India were Deshastha Brahmins, who were migrants from Maharashtra and North Karnataka.

That opened the way for him to move on to technical school, and from there to the technical-commercial institute, from where in 1901 he emerged with a diploma in book-keeping and accountancy. After passing exams and obtaining relevant experience, its members can apply for a Certificates of Supervision, Certificate of Compliance and eventually Certificates in Practice status, depending on membership level and experience, and are then licensed and regulated by the IAB to provide practice book- keeping, accounting, tax and financial advisory services, although they are not entitled to undertake audit or insolvency work. Cufa's Credit Union Outreach project is supporting existing community owned financial institutions in Cambodia and Timor-Leste to have improved sustainable financial management, governance and operational processes by providing tailored support and training programs. Through tailored training the Project is assisting community owned financial institutions to help develop their operational practice across governance, savings and membership mobilisation, managing delinquency, roles and responsibilities of committee members, loan application practices, book keeping skills, micro-enterprises, dividend calculations and monthly interest allocations. Cufa's Credit Union Development project helps to build, develop and promote community owned financial institutions in rural Cambodian and Timorese communities that previously had no access to financial services. The project works in collaboration with communities to establish community owned financial institutions based on the principles outlined by the International Credit Union Movement, codified by the World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU).

The report of 1871 shows the Union organized, with committees as follows: finance; lectures, classes, and entertainments; library; rooms; members; benevolent action; public worship and religious study. Sunday religious services were maintained, seats in churches furnished to young men, teachers supplied for Sunday schools and missions, boarding-places recommended, employment secured, savings deposited, and practical benevolent work engaged in. In 1875, there were classes in book-keeping, German, French, parliamentary law, vocal music, astronomy, elocution, and Shakespeare; monthly socials were held, at which many of Boston's most cultured women were present; and a Christmas and New Year's festival was given to poor children. In 1895, we note, 2,318 children and 267 adults were sent to the country for short periods, and carriage and other drives for shut-ins and convalescents to the number of 8,070 provided.

An able scholar, a dedicated team player, and developing into a strong leader on and off the sports field, Geoff held a number of senior sales and marketing positions with Ford Motor Company in Victoria and in Western Australia, culminating in that of National Sales and Marketing Manager (Commercial Vehicles) at the company's Head Office at Broadmeadows. He was also the Managing Director at Innova Design Furniture, in Brisbane; and, later, the Queensland State Manager of the software company, Concept Systems International, before devoting himself to real estate, specializing in resort development and residential property. He was a licensed real estate agent, working from Mount Coolum, in Queensland, and was the Managing Director of Ranelagh Pty Ltd., a business consultancy that provides management services and strategic marketing advice, as well as providing book- keeping and software services.

Sherds with a smooth surface or a slip would naturally be preferred for writing. These ostraca are evidently part of a somewhat clumsy method of book-keeping. Either they were a "day-book," notes of daily receipts to be written up in some form of "ledger" afterwards; or they were the sole record kept of the amount of wine and oil received in various years from various places.

The Institute runs courses throughout the London Borough of Redbridge, working with a variety of local community partners. The college was founded in 1859 by Harvey G. Eastman, and was for a time one of the largest commercial schools in the United States. Eastman college was located in Poughkeepsie NY. Rather than merely being a theoretical school, students gained practical experience in the business arts by actually performing the tasks that would be expected of them in their working careers, a novel approach at the time. The Reverend William Lloyd taught at Eastman College in the late 1800s. In 1897, Eastman Business College, Poughkeepsie, NY, had a Business Department, which offered hands-on practice in a mock bank and a mock railway and express office, and also taught book-keeping; a School of Shorthand; which trained students in shorthand, typing, duplicating, and filing; a School of Penmanship, which prepared students to teach writing and pen art; and a School of Telegraphy, which trained students as telegraph operators.

Western advances like the windmill were adopted by the Byzantines, but, unlike the West, Arabic numerals were not yet implemented for double-entry book-keeping. There are illustrations of agricultural implements from illuminated medieval manuscripts of Hesiod's Works and Days including the wheel, mortar, pestle, mallet and some parts for carts and soleard plough, but, even centuries later, neither the plough nor wheeled cart were widely in use, possibly because of the nature of the Pontic terrain. The conquest of the empire by the Crusaders in 1204, and the subsequent division of the Byzantine territories affected the agrarian economy as it did other aspects of economic organization, and economic life. These territories split among small Greek and Latin states, lost much of the cohesion they may have had: the Byzantine state could not function as a unifying force, and, in the 13th century, there was very little to replace it.

Murray Gell-Mann always referred to Feynman diagrams as Stueckelberg diagrams, after a Swiss physicist, Ernst Stueckelberg, who devised a similar notation many years earlier. Stueckelberg was motivated by the need for a manifestly covariant formalism for quantum field theory, but did not provide as automated a way to handle symmetry factors and loops, although he was first to find the correct physical interpretation in terms of forward and backward in time particle paths, all without the path-integral. Historically, as a book-keeping device of covariant perturbation theory, the graphs were called Feynman–Dyson diagrams or Dyson graphs, because the path integral was unfamiliar when they were introduced, and Freeman Dyson's derivation from old-fashioned perturbation theory was easier to follow for physicists trained in earlier methods."It was Dyson's contribution to indicate how Feynman's visual insights could be used [...] He realized that Feynman diagrams [...] can also be viewed as a representation of the logical content of field theories (as stated in their perturbative expansions)".

However, in 1825, Davison, along with another eight men of the town began with a new works in Canongate which continued to produce gas until 1882 when production was moved to another site in Alnwick. When Infant Schools became established in England in the 1830s pioneered by reformers such as Samuel Wilderspin, Davison was a major supplier nationally of educational “chap” books; primers for new readers or illustrated short stories designed to stimulate young minds. On a sheet of foolscap paper eight panels of vignettes and text would be printed, then another eight on the reverse. Cut and folded they produced a child-size 16 page book which was cheap to produce and hence accessible to the masses. Although he produced a number of school textbooks, his most successful was his edition of Charles Hutton's Complete Treatise on Practical Arithmentic and Book-Keeping (1828) In 1854, at the age of 72 William Davison established the “Alnwick Mercury” .

Ipswich commenced running technical classes in August 1891 after a public meeting was held in June where community leaders including the Mayor of the Ipswich Town Council, the Headmaster of the Ipswich Grammar School and the Chairman of The Queensland Times accepted a Government offer of to begin technical education at Ipswich. Prior to 1891 the only form of technical education available in Ipswich was through a limited range of courses at the Ipswich School of Arts. Ipswich Middle State School, corner of Bell and Union Street (now demolished) The technical classes began with book- keeping, drawing, algebra, and geometry at the Ipswich Middle State School, in rented premises and even in a rented foundry. Arrangements were also made to include dress-making, cookery, ambulance work, geography, history, Latin and English to the syllabus. The financial difficulties bought on by the depression of the early 1890s forced the college to close between 1893 and 1896.

Aside from the central government, there was a local branch of the dīwān al-kharāj, the dīwān al-jund and the dīwān al-rasāʾil in every province. Under Caliph Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan (), the practices of the various departments began to be standardized and Arabized: instead of the local languages (Greek in Syria, Coptic and Greek in Egypt, Persian in the former Sasanian lands) and the traditional practices of book-keeping, seals and time-keeping, only Arabic and the Islamic calendar were to be used henceforth. The process of Arabization was gradual: in Iraq, the transition was carried out by Salih ibn Abd al-Rahman under the auspices of the governor al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf in 697, in Syria by Sulayman ibn Sa'd al-Khushani in 700, in Egypt under Caliph al-Walid I's governor Abdallah ibn Abd al-Malik in 706, and in Khurasan by Ishaq ibn Tulayq al-Nahshali on the orders of Yusuf ibn Umar al-Thaqafi, governor of Iraq, in 741/42.

Pensioners' Barracks in 1905 designed by Jewell in 1863 Jewell's duties initially included overseeing repairs of buildings, roads and bridges, and supervising the construction of the boys' schools in Perth and Fremantle. He was soon given the task of designing major buildings such as Perth Gaol and the court-house. Jewell was said to have worked hard and long into the night with his book-keeping duties. In 1853 he wrote to Governor Fitzgerald: > I have the honour to submit for the consideration and approval off His > Excellency the Governor that he will be pleased to grant an allowance for > candles used in writing the Public accounts done after office hours, as it > is impossible to get the same performed during the day without neglecting > other duties...Western Australian Museum information sheet: "The Old Perth > Gaol" With the arrival of 300 convicts and ticket of leave persons, Perth had the labour necessary to commence building many substantial projects.

In 1929, the position of General Secretary of the G.A.A. became vacant for the first time in almost 30 years. The Governing Body of the GAA, the Central Council, decided that applicants must be members of the Association for a minimum of five years, must be under 40 years of age, and would have to undergo a qualifying examination consisting of Irish (oral and written), English, arithmetic and book-keeping. The chosen candidate would act as both the Secretary of the GAA and the Manager of Croke Park; be paid a salary of £300 (rising in annual increments of £10 to a maximum of £400), and be provided with a free house and electric light. There were a total of 11 applications for the post, only 9 of these attended the August 1929 examinations. After the examinations two rounds of votes were taken; on the final vote 31-year-old Padraig Ó Caoimh defeated F. Burke by 11 votes to 10.

The Prahran Art Foundation Year was administered by TAFE, and Adult Extension Courses were also important entry pathways into the College. 1976 subjects included Basic Photography, Basic Pottery, Representational Painting, Life Drawing, Intermediate Painting, Jewellery and Silver Craft, Weaving and Textile Art, General Sculpture, Technical illustration, Graphics and Design, Printmaking, Airbrush Techniques, Intermediate Photography, Intermediate Ceramics alongside Furniture Studies, Mandarin Chinese, Modern Greek, Indonesian, Hebrew and Yiddish, as well as Business Studies subjects like Small Business, Financial Management, Accounting and Book-keeping, Business Law, Customer Relations and Social Science subjects. In 1977 Prahran College Extension tutors in drawing and painting included Howard Arkley, Elizabeth Gower and Stephen May; Prahran graduate Betty Knight in sculpture; Ann Learmonth ran a weaving and knotting class; Cheryl Small, another Prahran graduate, offered ceramics. Peter Schmedig tutored in Art History and Appreciation; and Alan Money, Head of Drama, ran a Theatre Workshop while playwright Simon Hopkinson ran a course called The Writer's Craft.

Students entering Form I, usually aged 12–13, compete for places at the school based on their Grade 7 examination results, as well as school-based interviews and placement tests. The school consists of three levels: ZJC (Zimbabwe Junior Certificate) which includes Forms I and II; "O" level which includes Forms III and IV; and "A" level which includes Forms V and VI. The ZJC Core Curriculum consists of 8 subjects: English, Ndebele, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, Bible Knowledge, and a Practical Subject (i.e. Fashion and Fabrics, Woodwork, Agriculture, Metalwork, etc.) Zimbabwe phased out the ZJC examinations in 2001, but has maintained the same curricular framework for general Form 1 and 2 education and plan to renew this set of examinations at the end of Form 2 education. Based on their Form 1 and 2 reports, students are assigned to courses and tracked classes for their "O" level studies for Forms III and IV. The school also offers Hexco National Foundation courses in the Following Areas: Motor Maintenance, Brick and Block laying, Cabinet making, Computer operations and Packages, Computer Programming, Computer systems installation Servicing and repairs, Horticulture, Business English, Book Keeping, Office Practice, Garment Construction.
