Bokes Creek is a stream in the U.S. state of Ohio. It is a tributary of the Scioto River. Bokes Creek is named after Arthur Boke who was a hunter, scout and friend to surveyor Lucas Sullivant, the man who surveyed the area of Darby Creek and Bokes Creek. According to folk etymology, Bokes Creek derives its name from a Native American word meaning "lost", the creek being so named after an Indian lost his life in the creek.

Similar in execution to the concepts of "funny man" and "straight man" in double act comedy (e.g. Abbott and Costello), these roles are a very important characteristic of manzai. comes from the verb which carries the meaning of "senility" or "air headed-ness" and is reflected in the bokes tendency for misinterpretation and forgetfulness. The word refers to the role the second comedian plays in "butting in" and correcting the bokes errors.

The community of Somersville was laid in 1834 by Thomas Price and William Somers.A.S. Mowry, C.E., Atlas of Union County, Ohio, Harris, Sutton & Hare, Philadelphia, 1877, Pg. 19. The Bokes Creek Post Office was established April 26, 1850, with Amon S. Davis as postmaster, and was discontinued on June 30, 1904. As of 1877, the town contained two grocery stores, a blacksmith shop, a shoe shop, and one physician.

The acquisition of King's Place by Elizabeth Trentham and her relatives placed it 'beyond the reach of Oxford's creditors'. The piece of writing criticised Church officials for failing to carry out their jobs correctly According to Merrill, the work revolves around "those rectors, vicars, archdeacons, deans, prebendaries, etc., who spend their lives far from their flocks, or do not perform their sacred duties." He translated Cicero's De Officiis as Marcus Tullius Ciceroes thre bokes of duties (1556); a Latin paraphrase of Virgil's Georgics (printed 1591) is attributed to him, but most of the works assigned to him by John Bale are lost. Two Latin tragedies are extant; Archipropheta sive Johannes Baptista, printed at Cologne in 1548, probably performed at Oxford the year before, and Christus redivivus (Cologne, 1543), edited by JM Hart (for the Modern Language Association of America, 1886, separately issued 1899).

Gaathaug studied at the Barratt Due Institute of Music in Oslo where he followed composition classes with Johan Kvandal and piano classes with Kari Edgren Gierløff. He was a Slovakian State Stipend recipient and studied at the Bratislava Music Academy in 1981-82 with teachers Eva Fischerová (piano) and Vladimír Bokes (composition). Currently Gaathaug teaches piano at the Kontra culture school in Ski and he has also been active as a music critic in Drammens Tidende and Aftenposten. Gaathaug produced more than 100 works in a variety of genres, including orchestral works, solo pieces, chamber music as well as songs and concertos for trumpet and oboe, a De profundis (García Lorca) for mezzo-soprano and orchestra plus a concertino for accordion and orchestra.

Professor Dáithí Ó hÓgain writes that the "account of how the sons of Míl took Ireland was a literary fabrication, but it was accepted as conventional history by poets and scholars down until the 19th century". For centuries, the legend was used in Ireland to win and secure dynastic and political legitimacy. For example, in his Two bokes of the histories of Ireland (1571), Edmund Campion tried to use the myth to establish an ancient right of the British monarch to rule Ireland. In A View of the Present State of Ireland, Edmund Spenser accepted and rejected various parts of the myth both to denigrate the Irish of his day and to justify English colonisation of Ireland in the 1590s (at the height of the Anglo-Spanish war).
