After the series Strange turned his hand to voice-acting and wrote some award- winning mystery novels. His 2010 novel Body Blows won an Edgar Award in 2010. Jackson Davies, a long-running Beachcombers' cast-member, who went on to become a producer himself, and co-wrote a history of the show with Strange, called Strange a “Renaissance man”.
However, Hoost was reportedly discontent with the match's refereeing, citing the illegalities committed by Sapp, and expressed desire for a rematch. Two months later, Sapp was slated to fight Semmy Schilt at K-1 World Grand Prix 2002 Final, but an injury suffered by the latter granted Hoost his second chance as a replacement.Keith Vargo, Hoost Captures Fourth K-1 Grand Prix Title, Black Belt magazine, April 2003 Sapp declared he would finish him in one round again. The bout would be a more even affair, however, as although Sapp looked to use his familiar strategy, this time Hoost scored a knockdown through two well placed body blows and survived the first round.
In the third round, the Kid nearly stopped Langford with a series of body blows, and short jabs to the face."Sam Langford is Winner Over Dixie Kid", Reno Gazette, Reno, Nevada, pg. 6, 29 September 1909 As Langford gained his stride, the "Kid" went down once in the fifth round and again as the bell sounded, and could not return to box in the sixth when the towel was thrown.Langford outweighed the Kid by 25 pounds in "Langford Had a Really Hard Go", The Butte Daily Post, Butte, Montana, pg. 6, 4 October 1909The Kid down as the bell rang to the fifth in "Langford Makes Short Work of Dixie Kid", The Evening Statesman,Wala Wala, Washington, pg.
Krieger fought over the 160 pound middleweight limit for nearly all of this period, and had a difficult time getting back down to 160 for the Hostak rematch. He still fought regularly after he captured the title from Hostak, facing Billy Conn twice in tough losses, as well as Carmen Bath, Red Farmer, Marty Simmons, Ben Brown, and Alan Matthews. In the Matthews bout on April 5, 1939, Krieger effectively used infighting, with close body blows and hooks to defeat an opponent who was less a threat than Hostak or Steele. According to the Spokesman Review, both the knockdowns he obtained in the bout with Matthews were from hooks which required him to get in fairly close to his opponent.
In 1960, Hunsaker was Cassius Clay's (later Muhammad Ali) first opponent in a professional boxing bout. After the fight Hunsaker said, "Clay was as fast as lightning ... I tried every trick I knew to throw at him off balance but he was just too good". In a thumbnail profile of the fight the following January, young Cassius was reported as having remarked that Hunsaker's style was far different from what Clay had been exposed to as an amateur and Olympian; the young fighter admitted to nervousness going in, and that Hunsaker's aforementioned pro style, had given him trouble. This respect appears genuine, as it was lasting—in his autobiography, Ali said Hunsaker dealt him one of the hardest body blows he ever took in his career.
This was a magnificent plan and would have worked wonderfully, except that opening night ironically fell on November 4, 1929 (again with a delightful performance of Aida) less than a month after the Black Tuesday stock crash. This catastrophe, coupled with the extravagance of the new house, were body blows at the financial health of the civic Opera, starting a chain reaction. Soon Insull, the financial mainstay, lost control of his utilities and transportation companies and became unable to under-write Civic Opera. Mary Garden, the star-power and resident genius of Civic, never happy with the new opera house, retired abruptly after a performance of Massenet's Le jongleur de Notre-Dame at the end of the 1931/2 season.
The two fighters sparred for between 70 and 75 rounds, exchanging mainly body blows with some head shots in-between, which were later edited together according to the findings of the computer. Braddock, Louis, Schmeling, Sharkey and Walcott also recorded commentary to be used in the film. The final outcome would not be revealed until the release of the film on January 20, 1970, shown in 1,500 theaters via closed-circuit television in the United States, Canada, and throughout Europe. American and Canadian audiences were shown a version where the computer had determined that Marciano would have knocked Ali out in the 13th round, whilst European audiences were shown another ending in which Ali was depicted the winner by KO also in the 13th round.
It's time to dig into the data and set the record straight. It's time to turn the media spotlight back on the image makers and prevent the Hollywood elite from hoodwinking American voters once again." The late Andrew Breitbart called Hollywood Hypocrites a "barrage of body blows to Hollywood's holier-than-thou limousine liberals," while Mark Levin praised the book as "eye-popping, exhaustively researched, and absolutely hilarious." In 2014, Mattera published his third best-selling book, Crapitalism: Liberals Who Make Millions Swiping Your Tax Dollars, which "reveals the infuriating schemes that result when the filthy rich combine cronyism and capitalism" and, according to Mattera, "pulls back the curtain on a cast of cronyites who make millions taking advantage of taxpayers—and still brag about how they're looking out for the little guy.
Sendo has held the Japanese featherweight following a questionable win over Volg Zangief (that even Sendo himself didn't accept gladly) to decide who would take the Featherweight Championship vacated after Eiji Date retired, defending it twice by KO. Ultimately not only would he lose the title to Ippo in their rematch but as a result of Ippo's devastating punches, he was shelved due to Ippo cracking his ribs with body blows and Liver blows. Despite their Rivalry, and Sendo's desire to avenge his losses, he has become good friends with Ippo as the series has progressed. Following his recent comeback, Sendo holds a record of 21-2-0, with 20 KOs and is the former JBC Featherweight Champion. After several victories over highly ranked Mexican opposition, he becomes known as a 'Mexican Killer'.
Round one: The early moments of the fight provided arguably the most evenly fought display of back-and-forth action between Tyson and Lewis as they started by jabbing away. Just before 30 seconds had elapsed, Tyson leaned forward with a left-jab at Lewis; then lunged towards his midsection, landing a right-and-left combination of body blows before Lewis could manage to steer him backward with three effectively landed uppercuts of his own. As they subsequently traded body shots, Tyson ended the initial sequence by missing on a wild left hook. As the middle stages of the round came about, Lewis began to clinch and grab hold of Tyson as a strategy to fend off his repeated attempts to draw near for body attacks, keeping him at bay.
Harris (2004), p. 134 Driscoll lost his temper with Welsh, became verbally abusive and stormed out of the meeting. The fight took place on 20 December 1910 at the American Skating Ring in Cardiff, in front of a crowd of 10,000. Welsh started well, surprising the crowd with a straight back stance, out-jabbing Driscoll, but in the fifth he reverted to his normal crouched stance.Harris (2004), p. 136 Welsh's tactics changed and was now using his kidney punch on his opponent, amidst cries of "foul" from the crowd. After finishing their record deal with Naim Edge, having their management quit, their lawyer tell the band he did not wish to represent them anymore and their booking agent quit the music industry the band made the decision to retreat back into their jobs outside of Tellison. "We let Tellison lie and dealt with the body blows of having everyone around you feel like you aren’t worth the effort" singer and guitarist Stephen Davidson explained in an interview. The band's disappointment with the performance of The Wages of Fear and their feeling that they have not been as successful as they had hoped would become a recurring theme for the Davidson and Peter Phillips' lyrics. Around a year later the band reconvened and began working on new material that was demoed by Davidson and Phillips in June 2012.
