The canary turns the cat's vacuum cleaner against him, with a crash in the fireplace giving the cat a hot-stomach; as he buries his head in the sink, the bird adds Foamo-Seltzer to the water; the cat rockets off, crashing into a wall.

Ground or crushed dried chili pods may be used in birdseed to deter rodents, taking advantage of the insensitivity of birds to capsaicin. The Elephant Pepper Development Trust claims that using chili peppers as a barrier crop can be a sustainable means for rural African farmers to deter elephants from eating their crops. An article published in the Journal of Environmental Science and Health Part B in 2006 states that "Although hot chili pepper extract is commonly used as a component of household and garden insect-repellent formulas, it is not clear that the capsaicinoid elements of the extract are responsible for its repellency." The first pesticide product using solely capsaicin as the active ingredient was registered with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in 1962.

Original proprietor Mr. Hooper (Will Lee) and his store in its earlier days as a candy shop/soda fountain/general store The fictional store was said to be founded by Mr. Harold Hooper in 1951 as a general store. The food menu was extensive and suited to the different characters that lived on Sesame Street, a fictional Manhattan street. Along with traditional American diner-type food, the store sold a wide range of goods from dry goods to soap dishes and stranger goods such as empty cigar boxes (in Christmas Eve on Sesame Street) and birdseed milkshakes for Big Bird. In Street Gang: The Complete History of Sesame Street, Michael Davis notes that the store was one of the early core concepts that producer Jon Stone brought to the show: The store often acts as a gathering spot for the characters.

The owner is a fat and good-natured hag who, her only customer, spends her days being served beers by Colombo. The routine is interrupted when the manager of an international summit, the "boss" of the credits confined to a wheelchair, is taken ill: one of those present at the summit calls a nearby bar to bring a glass of ' water, but by mistake dials the number of the kiosk. Colombo finds himself having to run across the whole of Milan carrying the glass of water on a tray, which during the journey suffers a sequence of ridiculous accidents: it is first poured into the helmet of a traffic cop, then some painters accidentally dip the brushes, is soiled by the unloading of a truck, pigeons eat birdseed and finally an insect falls into it. Once at its destination, the concoction is still made to drink by the now cyanotic boss, who not only recovers, but miraculously gets up from his wheelchair laughing and hopping.
