For some years Mr. Stewart lived at Grantuly on the Glen Lyon estate. In 1908, John Stewart and his Humber won the Prize for the Best Turned Out Car at the Motor Gymkhana held by the Queensland Automobile Club at the Brisbane Cricket Ground.

The I-12 first flew on 26 June 1937, the first of twelve examples built. The first prototype, on a European tour begun in July 1937, made several demonstrations in Paris. In the UK it raced at Ramsgate, coming fifth in the handicapped Thanet Air Race at Ramsgate, as well as winning first prize for the best turned out aircraft. Late in August it came in second in the Cinque Ports Wakefield Cup races at Lympne.

A set of chimes which had been disused for years, and also some quarter jacks were re-instated during 1877. The new clock and chimes by Gillett and Bland were started on 16 February 1877. On 5 November 1877 the new clock was inspected by Sir Edmund Beckett who assessed that it was one of the best turned out by Gillett and Bland. There are 13 bells in the tower (14 counting the "Ting Tang") used for English change ringing and for the clock chimes.

A notable debutant this season was 17-year-old Northern Irish forward George Best, whose debut came in the league against West Bromwich Albion on 14 September 1963. Other sporting activities include horse racing, archery and the highly entertaining Bushkashi - goatskin tug of war on horseback. The Eagle Festival is featured in the 2016 documentary The Eagle Huntress, in which the 13-year-old Kazakh girl Aisholpan becomes the first female to enter and win the competition.

Butcher was the winner of the 10th Light Horse Regiment's "Best turned out light horseman" competition at the unit's annual sports day In order to perpetuate the traditions and distinctions of the Australian Imperial Force, it was decided in July 1919 that all CMF units would be re-designated with the unit numbers of the AIF.. From this date, the 25th Australian Light Horse Regiment was renamed the 10th Australia Light Horse Regiment, while retaining the territorial title Western Australia Mounted Infantry (WAMI).. One final recognition was given in 1923 when the regiment was finally awarded the right to carry the battle honours for the Second Boer War. Initially, these had been granted to the Western Australian infantry regiments but not to the mounted regiment. This oversight was corrected and from this time they bore these battle honours in addition to those granted to the AIF 10th light Horse Regiment.
