MD 17 leaves Burkittsville and crosses Broad Run near the hamlet of Arnoldtown, then meets the northern end of MD 383 (Broad Run Road) and the west end of Bennies Hill Road, which leads to the Bennies Hill Road Bridge and historic Shafer's Mill.

Benzedrine pills, colloquially referred to as bennies, is the brand name of the first pharmaceutical drug that contained amphetamine. The drug contained the racemic mixture of amphetamine, which is an equal parts mixture of levoamphetamine and dextroamphetamine. It was first marketed in 1933 as a decongestant in the United States by Smith, Kline & French in the form of Benzedrine inhalers. Benzedrine sulfate was introduced three years later and was used to treat a wide variety of medical conditions, including narcolepsy, obesity, low blood pressure, low libido, and chronic pain, among others.

The EP's title track was inspired by the events prior to a show from the Young Drunks tour in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia, in which the guitarist from The Bennies was the victim of a near-fatal stabbing. The song was performed to end the band's show at The Fest event in Gainesville, Florida, US in late 2013. In June 2014, The Smith Street Band announced Jeff Rosenstock from Bomb the Music Industry! would produce their third album, being recorded in July 2014 in the small town of Forrest, Victoria.

On June 14, 2013, the Pixies announced that Deal had left the band. Two weeks later, the band released a new song, "Bagboy", as a free download via the Pixies website. The song features Jeremy Dubs of Bunnies and formerly of the Bennies on vocals in place of Deal. On July 1, 2013, the Pixies announced the addition of Muffs and Pandoras guitarist and vocalist Kim Shattuck to replace Deal for their 2013 European tour. On September 3, 2013, the Pixies released an EP of new songs titled EP1.

Musical performers included Salt Lake locals Joshua Payne Orchestra, the Boomsticks, Red Bennies, Hello Amsterdam, Mad Max and the Wild Ones, Spell Talk and Muscle Hawk. That year also featured a belly dance showcase with the Hathor Dance Collective, Trisha McBride and Blue Lotus dance troupe performing. The festival partnered with the Salt Lake Film Festival to continue festivities a second day, August 15, with a screening of Faythe Levine’s film “Handmade Nation” followed by a question and answer session with some Craft Lake City artists. In 2011, Craft Lake City festivities began with an exhibit at the Utah Art Alliance's Main Street Gallery in Salt Lake City called “Art vs. Craft.” The show ran July 5 through July 30 and featured the work of fourteen Craft Lake City artists.

On 26 May the band performed the opening show of their More Scared of You than You Are of Me tour, and debuted a new touring line-up; adding label-mate Jess Locke and musician/long-time friend of the band Lucy Wilson. In May, the band premiered the video for their third single, "Shine", recreating AC/DC's video for "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll)" with the original director Paul Drane. In June, it was announced that the band would be opening for Midnight Oil at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, alongside The Living End. On 17 March 2018, Pool House Records held the inaugural Pool House Party festival at Coburg Velodrome in Melbourne, featuring label mates The Bennies and Jess Locke, local acts like Press Club, WAAX, and Baker Boy, and international guests Astronautalis and Signals Midwest.
