Phillips struggled with a right quad injury through much of the 2018 season. She first injured the quad in the preseason and then aggravated it the day before the start of the season, keeping her out for the first two games. Adelaide lost both of the those games without Phillips, which were against Brisbane and Melbourne. When Phillips returned, Adelaide resumed winning as Phillips starred with four of Adelaide's six goals and two of their five behinds, earning best on ground.
The 1882 South Australian Football Association season was the 6th season of the top-level Australian rules football competition in South Australia. The season began on Saturday 6 May. The 1882 SAFA season was the first time that the league used behinds in determining game results. The Royal Park Football Club entered the competition, but they folded after five matches, two of which were forfeits due to a lack of players; their remaining five scheduled matches were also declared forfeits.
Roughead later managed to kick his second goal after he was pushed in the back, but Fremantle replied as behinds to Stephen Hill and Michael Barlow and Walters kicking his second goal once again allowed them to close within 3 points. Moments later, Hawthorn replied again as Jack Gunston kicked his fourth goal. Gunston then has another opportunity through a set shot but misses it to the right as the Hawks entered the three-quarter-time break ten points ahead.
He had less than half a dozen kicks for the entire match, and was only able to score two behinds, one of which was scored in the last scoring kick of the match.Dunn, J., "Tough Fitzroy Far Too Good", The Argus, (Monday, 30 June 1952), p.9. He played his last game for Fitzroy in the 1952 Preliminary Final against Collingwood, which Collingwood won, 11.15 (81) to 9.8 (62).How the Teams Compare, The Argus, (Friday, 19 September 1952), p.8.
572 . Of this Dunstan kicked seven goals, three behinds but had over thirty kicks overall, many of which led to Templeton's record total of twenty-four scoring shots, which contributed to Footscray breaking Carlton's 1969 record VFL score. During the last quarter it was said that Dunstan, who never otherwise kicked five in a match, aimed to reach double figures. As a result of this and other performances, Dunstan represented Victoria several times in the last three years of the late 1970s.
After leaving St Kilda in 1990 Owen played out the season at Victorian Football Association (VFA) club Frankston, and was then traded to Melbourne for Stephen Newport. He kicked two bags of five goals for Melbourne in 1991, against Carlton and North Melbourne. After just one year at Melbourne he was traded to Brisbane for the 1992 AFL season. Owen had a particularly strong game against Fitzroy at Princes Park when he kicked eight goals and six behinds, a club record against the Lions.
That night, Puppis has a strange dream which a naked young woman (Eva Czamerys) beckons him, superimposed over the circular plaza of St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican. Puppis calls the unscrupulous Father Lucian and offers him the money. In return, Lucian offers to arrange a consultation with a German psychiatrist. During the session, Puppis describes his recent affliction: his dreams and waking thoughts are becoming obsessed with behinds, mostly female ones despite his open preference for fey young men like his personal chauffeur Carmelino (Aldo Puglisi).
He made his league debut in the opening round, with four disposals against Carlton. His next appearance came two weeks later, in a win over Collingwood, where he had 9 disposals and kicked two behinds. At the Sydney Cricket Ground in round seven, he played his third and final game, kicking a goal and managing 10 disposals. After leaving Hawthorn, Symonds continued his career at Glenelg and in 1995 was appointed senior coach, as a replacement for Mark Williams, who had joined Essendon as an assistant.
Bombers take some heat off Knights The following Friday night, he kicked two goals in a win against St Kilda. He managed to kick two goals once again in the next game, a 76-point loss to , although he also kicked two behinds as part of the wayward kicking by the entire Essendon team, which managed 9.19 for the night. Hardingham was delisted at the conclusion of the 2014 AFL season. He remained with Essendon as a VFL-listed player in its reserves team in 2016.
Late in the season he kicked six goals against Fitzroy to equal his career best and followed it up the following week with five goals and six behinds against his former club. Injuries returned in 1988 and Fidge, who had an icy relationship with coach Peter Knights, was sacked a few games into the 1989 season. For the rest of 1989, Fidge played with Glenelg in the SANFL. He was selected by the Sydney Swans in the 1989 VFL Draft but chose to remain in South Australia.
Greg Fyffe (born 3 April 1963) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Fyffe was originally from amateur club West Brunswick. His only appearance for Collingwood came during the 1983 VFL season, in their round five loss to Hawthorn at Victoria Park, where he kicked two goals and three behinds. He won the Diamond Valley Football League's Division Two best and fairest award in 1987, with playing for West Preston, which he captain-coached in 1990 and 1991.
Richmond began to pull away from the Giants in the second quarter. They scored five unanswered goals in a dominant quarter; Jack Riewoldt goaled at the four-minute mark of the term, followed by Martin's second goal at the seven-and-a-half minute mark. Tom Lynch scored two minutes later before Riewoldt finished the half with another two majors. Greater Western Sydney were held to just four behinds in the second term, and the Tigers headed to the halftime break with an ominous 35-point lead.
He kicked 15 goals and just 4 behinds for the year- a little over a goal per game and No. 1 at the club for accuracy (of those who had kicked 10 goals or more), an indication of his elite finishing skills in front of goal (as described by Champion Data). As well as kicking goals directly, he was also second at the club for goal assists per game. He finished a creditable 12th in the Best and Fairest, despite having missed 10 games.
As a legitimate defensive play, an Australian rules football defender may concede an "own score". Such a score, referred to as a rushed behind and statistically credited to no player (score sheets simply include the tally of rushed behinds), results in the opposition team scoring one point. A defending player may choose to concede a rushed behind when the risk of the opposition scoring a goal (worth six points) is high. It is impossible for a team to concede an own goal worth six points.
Women of color have had a large influence in hip hop culture that often goes unrecognized in the media. When they are represented, they are often portrayed in a stereotypical manner. Similar to Black women in hip hop, Latina women are also found shaking their behinds in music videos. In a Dr Pepper commercial, featuring Paulina Rubio and Celia Cruz, viewers are told to "Be You" and that Dr Pepper "promotes individuality", while the Latina dancers flaunt their torsos and "shake their bon-bons".
In 2004, they split up, forming the Farum Cats, and reviving the Farum Lions. Many of the young players from the junior programme plays for both teams and Morten Engsbye plays his 50th game before he turns eighteen. Only the Cats reach the finals, and in the Grand Final against the NC Cudas, they manage to kick more goals than the opposition. However, they kick 10 behinds less, and finish up losers by just 4 points, after a 5-goal last quarter by Mikkel Norlander.
After kicking 42 goals from 11 games for Claremont at WAFL level, including a run of 26 goals in four games, Jones made his debut for West Coast in round 13 of the 2007 season, against , kicking three goals playing at centre half-forward.Adelaide v West Coast, 1 July 2007, at AAMI Stadium – AFLTables. Retrieved 28 September 2011. He kicked four behinds from 13 possession in his next game, against the , but was dropped two games after, returning for one game in round 22.
South Melbourne had several attacking chances over the rest of the quarter, but managed only behinds; and, at quarter time, Carlton held an 11-point advantage, 2.4 (16) to 0.5 (5). Overall, South Melbourne had the better of the first quarter, holding Carlton's advantage with the wind and limiting the Blues' attacking opportunities, but Carlton's backline was strong to keep South Melbourne goalless. Carlton half-forward flanker Lance Collins injured his ankle during the quarter, and he moved to the forward-line where he had little impact.
It turns out that M's suspicion of the shortcomings was right, as Eidolon is revealed to be a system of SPECTRE stay-behinds initiated during World War II, along with the exposition of Hawkwood's identity, a former apparent war hero, as one of the four global lead assets of the operation. MI-5 agent, Eve Sharma approaches Bond off-duty later on to discuss a rogue operation's existence in a secret cell within her organization, to which Bond informs her with the truth and the involvement of the SPECTRE stay- behinds. The next day, M, with the company of Cadence and Moneypenny, goes to meet the head of MI-5, Sir Stephen Mackmain and the Intelligence Services Commissioner to discuss the irrelevance of The Hard Rule, a policy that prevents MI-6 agents from carrying firearms on British soil (which was also a problem in the VARGR storyline). During the heated conversation between M and Mackmain, whose hypocrisy in the formation of rule ranged on surface, the latter unveils his true schemes and takes M as well as the rest of the crew as a hostage, with Hawkwood himself eliminating the London Metropolitan Police counter-terrorism unit protecting them.
Following an off-season of surgeries and recovery, Riewoldt started the season inaccurately, kicking five goals and nine behinds through his first three matches. He was back to his best by mid-season through, kicking bags of six and eight goals in back-to-back matches in round 9 and 10 against and respectively. The round 10 victory was Riewoldt's 100th career match and Richmond's first win over St Kilda since 2003. He also kicked bags of five goals in rounds 16 and 20 matches against Gold Coast and the Western Bulldogs.
He kicked a goal on debut in a loss to Carlton but was overall inaccurate during his VFL career, with 16 behinds to go with his six goals. A rover, James received his only Brownlow Medal vote for his 17 disposals in a win over the Brisbane Bears at Western Oval in 1988. At the age of 19, James was killed in a water skiing accident near Echuca on New Years Day 1990. He had been skiing with two friends on the Murray River and was flung into a tree.
Over his first nine matches, he registered 8 goals and 8 behinds, including failing to tally a kick for the first time in his 80-game career during Fremantle's one-point win over Brisbane in round 10. On 19 July, Hogan was ruled out for the rest of the season after suffering a recurrence of an injury to the navicular bone in his right foot, which was initially sustained with Melbourne in 2018. On 29 January 2020, Hogan took leave away from the club to deal with mental health challenges.
Windle Poons was a very old wizard, usually moving on his monstrous wheelchair. He first appeared in Moving Pictures in which his physical and mental state could be described as "invalid, deaf, wandering of mind and hot on the ladies' behinds in his wheelchair". Strangely, it resulted in friendly relations with Ridcully, since Windle didn't mind being shouted at, and he was also used to people ignoring his questions. He died at the age of 130 shortly after his farewell party, but thanks to Death's absence he returned briefly as a zombie.
Footscray scored two goals in the third quarter – Punch early in the quarter and O'Brien near the end – to take a two- goal lead into three-quarter time. Both teams attacked early in the final quarter, Footscray managing three goals, but Essendon managing only four behinds, to put the result beyond doubt. At this stage, Footscray had kicked eight of the last nine goals in the game, and Essendon had kicked 0.11 (11) since quarter time. Both teams managed a late goal, and Footscray won the game by 28 points.
Most of the game statistics were fairly even across the game. Total disposals were won by St Kilda 338–326, contested possessions were won by Collingwood 153–148, and tackles were won by St Kilda 100–89. The two most lopsided statistics were: clearances, which St Kilda won 46–38, despite having ten fewer than Collingwood in the second quarter, and; inside-50s, which Collingwood dominated 62–35. Altogether, seven of Collingwood's fourteen behinds were recorded as rushed, mostly from shots at goal which fell short and were touched or punched through.
Drafted by the Kangaroos in the fourth round of the 2006 AFL Draft from the Port Adelaide Magpies, Thomas made impressive performance by kicking four goals in his first pre-season game against Collingwood in the NAB Cup at Carrara Oval. Thomas made his AFL debut in Round 1 of the 2007 season, scoring no goals but five behinds in a loss against Collingwood. In 2010 Thomas led North Melbourne's goalkicking with 29 goals which included 7 against Carlton in Round 12. The 2011 season was not a successful season for Thomas.
The round 7 clash against North Melbourne was a convincing 11 goal victory propelling them into premiership favouritism as they had won their last four games by an average of 10 goals. They backed this up with an entertaining six goal win in Perth against Fremantle in what would become the start of a highly successful period interstate. Despite being overwhelming favourites going into the round 9 clash against Geelong they lost by six goals in front of 88,115 fans. They kicked 6 goals and 14 behinds in the match.
While the two of them are reminiscing in the kitchen about when they first met, Steve keeps referencing her butt, to which she responds "Don't you men ever think about something else besides behinds?" This reinforces physical attraction being the primary source of attraction in regards to the female. In spite of this, both Steve and Wardell treat their wives with respect, which highlights a positive message of equality within their marriages. Symbolism In the film, the lottery ticket is a symbol of economic prosperity for African-Americans.
Within one minute, Breust kicked his second goal, followed by another from Hale one minute later and a Franklin behind to give Hawthorn the lead by 12. After trading behinds with Hawthorn, Sydney finally substituted out Shane Mumford for Luke Parker, and they found opportunities with a goal from Dan Hannebery at the 9th minute. Meanwhile, Hodge's cut re-opened, forcing him off the field for several crucial minutes while they tried to bandage it. After several more back-and-forth minutes, Jack finally leveled the scores at 78 each with his second goal.
Scott was drafted in the 1995 AFL Draft, first round, pick number 4 overall, to the Fitzroy Lions from North Adelaide. He made his debut in the 1st round of the 1996 AFL season, gathering 20 disposals. He went on to play all 22 games in his debut season, scoring 6 goals and 13 behinds. However, his team, Fitzroy, only managed the one win throughout the whole year, and finished on a percentage of 49.47 (see 1996 AFL season), and he played in Fitzroy's very last AFL game, an 86-point loss.
Per the finals system, for Geelong to be premiers, they are required to beat Collingwood, for Essendon to lose to Melbourne, and to beat Essendon in a play-off the following week. Geelong met Collingwood at the East Melbourne Cricket Ground in the final match of the round-robin series. Geelong started very well, with a strong northerly wind blowing, Geelong took full advantage of it scoring five goals, two behinds to nil. Though Collingwood had the wind in the second quarter, they failed to take advantage, and the half time score was 44–18.
He also has the dubious record at Carlton for the most inaccurate score of 5 goals and 12 behinds, against Hawthorn in 1969. A spectacular and popular player Jesaulenko was renowned for his high marking, mercurial ground play, superb balance and goal kicking. He kicked 115 goals in the 1970 season, breaking the club record and becoming the first (and, as of 2019, only) player to kick more than 100 goals in a season for Carlton. He went on to play in the famous 1970 VFL Grand Final against Collingwood.
The magazine sits on Willis's Plateau which is a historic place for the placement of Gibraltar's northern defences. The batteries include Princess Anne's Battery, Princess Amelia's Battery and Princess Royal's Battery and behinds these are the start of the World War Two Tunnels of Gibraltar. The magazine is named for Captain Willis who made such a contribution in the Twelfth Siege of Gibraltar in 1704-5 that this magazine was named for him. He also gave his name to Willis' Road, Willis' Battery (now Princess Royal's Battery), Willis' Cave and Guard.
AFL Tables: Heath Shephard His 18 disposals included five goals and five behinds. He kicked another two goals the following week but his form then dropped off and he finished the season with nine games to his name. In 1990, Collingwood ended up breaking their premiership drought and Shephard, having played only twice that year due to a loss of form and a broken arm, returned to Tasmania. He spent the 1991 season with the Burnie Hawks in the TFL Statewide League and returned to the AFL the following year, joining Brisbane.
Foster Mirror 1953 Carrajung produced many substandard efforts during their seven years of existence in the Alberton League and many matches would result in percentage gaining contests for opposing teams. The club finished last in 1947, 1948, 1950, 1951 and 1952. The very last game Carrajung played in the Alberton League during the 1952 season resulted in Toora forward, Frank Salmon, kicking a record 34 goals 17 behinds out of the teams 35.18 score. Salmon's (and his teammates’ efforts) helped him claim the League goalkicking award by overtaking Woodside great Charles Williamson.
In 1895, the VFA competition consisted of thirteen teams of 20 on-the-field players each. Unless otherwise noted, matches began at 3pm. Because there was an odd number of teams, at least one team had a bye each week; the idle club often travelled to Ballarat to play one of the local senior clubs in a non-premiership match. When reporting match scores in 1895, the number of goals and behinds scored by each team is given; however, only the number of goals scored is considered when determining the result of a match.
Though injury problems forced him to miss many games throughout his career (injuries mainly began from 2002 onwards) and he had to wait until Round 19 for his first game for the Crows in 2006. In 2007 he played his 150th AFL game against Brisbane in round 7. Welsh finished with 49 goals and 20 behinds for the season, topping the Crows goalkicking list for the fourth time. His fourth goal against Hawthorn on 8 September 2007 in the elimination final became his 300th goal in senior AFL football.
Medhurst joined Collingwood in 2007 in the deal which saw Chris Tarrant become a Docker, and Ben Reid, draft selection eight, join the Magpies. Despite playing his 100th match (his first in Magpie colours, round one against the Kangaroos), Medhurst began the season slowly, injuring his foot during a four-goal performance against Richmond in round three, which sidelined him for much of the season. Medhurst returned to face Fremantle in round 10 at the MCG, and Collingwood won by 10 points. Neither Medhurst nor Tarrant were among the goals, sharing three behinds between them.
The last four scoring shots of the game were all behinds to South Australia inside the final two minutes of the game. The final game of the carnival would decide the overall winner and after going into the game as underdogs Victoria hung on against Western Australia at Subiaco Oval to win by eight points. The win was thanks largely to Victorian full-back Jack Regan restricting Doig to just three goals. Other Victorian stars who took part in the carnival included Haydn Bunton, Jack Dyer, Les Hardiman, Dick Harris and Keith Shea.
Darren 'Doc' Wheildon (born 11 November 1970) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Fitzroy in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Newborough, Wheildon bagged a seven-goal haul in just his third league game, against the Brisbane Bears at Carrara. One of his best performances came when he kicked six goals and six behinds against a strong Hawthorn team in 1992. The following season, against Sydney at the SCG, he kicked a career best eight goals, in a shoot-out with Simon Minton-Connell who also kicked eight.
Boisclair resigned as party leader following a poor performance in the 2007 general election. Facal was again considered as possible leadership candidate, but he again chose not to run and was still generally regarded as an ally of Marois, who won the leadership on her third attempt.Elizabeth Thompson, "Leader should move to Quebec and 'kick behinds': Bloc MPs," Montreal Gazette, 10 May 2007, A4. During this period, Facal worked with former cabinet colleague François Legault to propose a new PQ policy agenda focused on economic growth and the more gradual promotion of sovereignty.
His end of year tally of 27 goals was the most in the league, and the following season he became the first player to kick 50 VFL goals. He kicked a career high seven goals in game against St Kilda in 1898. He again topped the VFL's goalkicking in 1899 with 31 goals and was rewarded with selection for Victoria in an interstate match against South Australia. James also set the record for the most behinds kicked by a player in a game during this season, with a score of 5.16 against St Kilda.
When Adelaide entered the AFL in 1991, Smith was one of their local recruits and he performed well in their inaugural with two goals and ten marks against Hawthorn. Two rounds later he played his best game for Adelaide when he had 24 disposals and kicked four goals and five behinds in a win over Sydney at the SCG, with his fellow Port Adelaide key forward Scott Hodges bagging six of his own. He soon lost his place in the team and spent most of the remainder of the season playing for Port Adelaide in the SANFL.
Pratt kicked 5 goals and 5 behinds for the match; his first goal for the day came from an "amazing mark" which he took "almost on the goal line" ("[Pratt] went from behind the pack with a tremendous leap and took the ball in his finger-tips to score an easy goal").Vital Incidents: Best Individual Feats, The Argus, Monday, 4 May 1936), p.14. That first goal of the 1936 season brought his VFL career total to 500 goals (in 106 matches).South Melbourne's System: Centre Line Unbeatable, The Age, (4 May 1936), p.4.
In the first half of the twentieth century, Richmond had been a powerhouse club with a large supporter base, but the club fell on hard times in the 1950s. A rejuvenation of the club began with a move to the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 1965 and an extensive recruiting program, which included the young Hart. Hart made his senior VFL debut in the opening round of the 1967 VFL season against at the MCG, playing at full forward. Although he got plenty of the ball in attack, he disappointed with his inaccurate goal-kicking, with three goals and seven behinds.
Snape appeared in a Harry Potter parody named "Louis Potter and the Philosopher's Scone" in Alistair McGowan's Big Impression show, played by Alistair McGowan himself. In the Harry Bladder sketches in All That, Snape appears as Professor Chafe (portrayed by Jeremy Rowley), whose legs were badly chafed, causing him to be unnecessarily mean. Many sketches feature students brewing potions that did silly things, like enlarge students' behinds, give males large breasts, or change people into bras. In a sketch comedy named "Cooking With..." on Australian TV series The Wedge, Snape is played by Anthony Ahern, and catches Harry and Hermione making love.
Inspirational Tigers captain Royce Hart was right on top at centre half-forward, marking strongly on several occasions. Daryl Cumming handpassed to tall youngster David Cloke and he registered the Tigers’ second goal with an excellent left-foot snap under extreme pressure from several North defenders. Both sides were applying intense physical pressure, and this resulted in several basic errors in general play. Misses to Hart, Kevin Bartlett and Paul Sproule saw Richmond move to 2 goals 7 behinds (19 points), before Barry Richardson goaled after a strong mark to give the Tigers a comfortable lead near quarter-time.
The following season he was the club's Best and fairest winner and attracted the attention of St Kilda who recruited him at pick 25 in the 1994 National Draft. Sziller usually played in defence for the Saints but could play forward and as a tagger. He was an inaccurate shot at goal, with 55 behinds for his 41 career goals although he did kick six goals two in a game against Sydney at the SCG in 1998. After being de-listed at the end of 2000 he was picked up by Richmond who were coached by his former teammate Danny Frawley.
Essendon kicked a late goal to lead by four points at quarter time. Play in the second quarter was similar, with Footscray doing most of the attacking and Essendon mostly keeping them out; Mullens (Footscray) kicked the only goal of the quarter, but two late behinds allowed Essendon to take a one-point lead into half time. Roy Laing (Essendon) was off the ground with a leg injury for much of the second quarter, eventually finishing the game in the forward line, but was too injured to have any impact. After half time, Footscray began to assert its dominance, particularly by handball.

The festival premiered an Al Pacino-narrated version of Revolution called Revolution Revisited.
The end of the quarter was filled with physical one-on-one contests with Collingwood willing to play for time, and no more goals were scored in the quarter. Two more opportunities for Collingwood ended up behinds but kept the pressure on St Kilda. Finally, Schneider had a set shot from 30m as the siren sounded, but only managed a behind. In general play, the second quarter was fairly even, with St Kilda winning the inside-50s 13-10, but while none of their missed opportunities were easy shots, the Saints' inability to convert the chances they had contributed to their increasing deficit.
Hawthorn's Jarryd Roughead opened the quarter with a set shot missing to the left. Between spells of back-and-forth play, Sydney managed to make two more goals from set shots: Kennedy in the 3rd minute, then Roberts-Thomson in the 6th minute. Kennedy almost had another in the 8th minute but hit the post to extend the margin to 28: the largest at any point in the match. Then Hawthorn started a 5.2 comeback: goals from David Hale, Franklin (2) Gunston, and Isaac Smith and behinds from Franklin and Matt Suckling (rushed) took them to a four-point lead.
Henry James Davie (22 May 1905 – 17 March 1968) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne and Carlton in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1920s. Born in Australia, Davie was very lightly built but could play in the key forward positions as well as in the pockets. He holds the record for most goals on debut by a Melbourne footballer, with a bag of six against Richmond when he played his first game in 1924. In Melbourne's Round 14, encounter with Carlton the following season at Princes Park, Davie kicked 13 goals and 5 behinds.
Born in Kalgoorlie, and educated at Scotch College, Wiley was zoned to in the WANFL, making his debut for them in 1974 at the age of 19. He won the Butcher Medal as Perth's best and fairest in his first season. He was a member of premiership sides in 1976 and 1977, and in that latter season kicked over eighty goals despite missing nine weeks through injury before the Grand Final. Remarkably for a rover, Wiley twice kicked ten goals in a match in 1977, including once against where he had forty-two possessions for ten goals and four behinds.
He kicked 2 goals and 2 behinds to be Collingwood's best in a loss. Thomas playing in the midfield once again was outstanding in the second week of the finals against Adelaide. Collingwood, trailing by 5 goals at half time, came out switched on with Thomas giving all he could to get Collingwood over the line. Late into the last quarter with Collingwood trailing by a point Thomas clashed heads with an Adelaide player, he shrugged it off and got the ball out of the defensive 50 which ended up in the hands of Collingwood's Jack Anthony who kicked the winning goal.
Initially a half forward, Gallagher hailed from Rosebud. His 34 goals in 1957 was enough to top the goal-kicking at Essendon, helped by a haul of 12 goals and four behinds from full-forward in their round eight win over Geelong at Windy Hill. In doing so he joined John Coleman and Ted Freyer as the only players to have kicked 12 goals or more in a game for Essendon. He also booted three majors in the 1957 VFL Grand Final where he was his club's only multiple goal-kicker in a 61-point loss to Melbourne.
In Round 2 of that year he kicked a North Melbourne record of twelve goals against Richmond, which he broke twelve weeks later when he kicked fourteen goals in round 14 against Melbourne. Going into the final round Longmire looked likely to reach the 100-goal milestone for the season, however terribly inaccurate kicking against a hard Collingwood defence resulted in a tally of two goals and eight behinds, leaving him just two goals short. Longmire went on the win North Melbourne's best and fairest that year and led the club's goal kicking list each season from 1990 to 1994.
He played the following week against but missed the club's round 10 match due to some later soreness that emerged as a result of that hyper-extension. Castagna missed a second match in round 11, before returning with a two-goal performance in the club's round 12 loss to . During that match he received a nomination for Mark of the Year, with a fourth-quarter forward-line specky attracting the highest fan vote of three nominees that round. For a four-game stretch between rounds 15 and 18, Catagna registered eight behinds and failed to kick a goal.
Despite the advances made by Queensland football, it was clear that Victoria was progressing faster than any other state. On 21 June 1890, South Melbourne Football Club toured, playing against Queensland on Albion Park. The result of the match was a complete 6-17 to 1-0 humiliation (behinds were recorded in the scores at the time but did not actually count until 1897). The humiliation was obviously felt by the players as when Queensland defeated a New South Wales Rugby Union team shortly afterwards many of the former rugby players receded from the Australian football ranks and formed clubs of their own.
John Frederick Hiskins (8 August 1878 – 25 November 1946) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the early 1900s. Hiskins was a half forward and topped the league's goalkicking in the 1901 VFL season with 34 goals, finishing the year in Essendon's premiership side. He would have kicked more that year had it not been for an inaccurate game against South Melbourne which saw him kick two goals and ten behinds. Hiskins regularly used the place kick to shoot at goal and represented Victoria at interstate football in 1902.
Richard Umbers (born 16 May 1968) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Brisbane Bears in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Hampden Football League club South Warrnambool, Umbers played in the reserves for Geelong Football Club without playing a senior game and moved to Brisbane after being drafted by the Bears in the 1990 pre-season draft. Through March 2014, the album's lifetime sales in the country totaled 1.1 million copies. In the UK, the record sold less than a third of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bombs figures, and a quarter of All That You Can't Leave Behinds. Global sales of No Line on the Horizon remained at five million copies through September 2010. The album did not generate a hit single; ABC noted that sales of How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb had been propelled by the track "Vertigo" which, although not a chart success, had become well known to the public from its use in iPod commercials.
With Melbourne leading by 11 points at the final break the match is remembered for its thrilling last quarter. In the early stages Melbourne had plenty of opportunities to kick goals but could only manage behinds and it was Collingwood's Des Tuddenham who kicked the first goal of the term. 17 minutes into the quarter Collingwood trailed by 9 points but were within a kick when Ray Gabelich kicked goal from a boundary throw in. Gabelich kicked another to put them in front soon afterwards, a goal that is now regarded as one of the most famous in grand final history.
The Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen supported the idea of factory but he however opposed forcible acquisition of land. The protesters have been attacked, verbally by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) leaders and physically by the party's supporters. Benoy Konar, member of the party's state committee, famously declared that protesting intellectuals would be greeted by women supporters of the party by showing their behinds . Preliminary surveys by officials of the state and Tata Motors faced protests, and manhandling on one occasion, from the villagers organized under the Save Singur Farmland Committee with Trinamool Congress forming its chief component.
The 2006 grand final also marked the fourth time in VFL/AFL history that consecutive games between two teams were decided by the same total scores, with both the qualifying final and the grand final decided by 85-84. This previously occurred between South Melbourne vs Melbourne (1903–04), St Kilda vs Collingwood (1913–14) and Melbourne vs Richmond (1954–55). On none of the four occasions have the goals and behinds tallies been identical (Sydney outscored West Coast by 13.7 (85) - 12.12 (84) in the qualifying final, whilst West Coast pipped Sydney by 12.13 (85) - 12.12 (84) in 2006).
Medvedchuk is an open and bitter critic of the Euromaidan protest campaign (initially aimed at reverting the second Azarov government decision to suspend preparations for signing an Association Agreement and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the European Union). After one of his December 2013 meetings with Russia's President Vladimir Putin, Medvedchuk publicly promised to "deal with" pro-European protesters in Ukraine. The club continued to appear regularly in grand finals up until the merger with the Eastern Suburbs Australian Football Club in 1999. In the University Games the club did not do as well. The club’s only medal was won in 1995 after defeating Monash University in Darwin, Northern Territory for the bronze. In 1985, the club set an Australian record for the highest score recorded by a senior grade team in an Australian National Football game with a score of 69 goals and 32 behinds (446 points) against Baulkham Hills who didn’t score a single point.
The jacket became the "hottest outerwear fad of the mid-1980s" and was widely emulated. It is sometimes emulated by celebrities today such as Chris Brown and Kanye West. It also became one of the most sought after by many people and the epitome of the 1980s teen cool. The jacket he wore in the Thriller video, along with a copy of the black and white leather jacket he wore in one of the Pepsi commercials and in the dance rehearsal portions behinds the scenes of The Making of Michael Jackson's Thriller, are among his best-selling jackets.
Proplyzia made his AFL debut in round 5, 2006 against the Western Bulldogs, in which he scored 3 goals in Adelaide's resounding victory. Porplyzia played 11 games for the season, the standout being a 25-possession effort against Melbourne in Round 22. He continued to impress in 2007 before finally beginning to make a name for himself as a small forward in 2008, where he repeatedly played through a recurring shoulder injury to almost single-handedly carry Adelaide into the finals in the absence of Brett Burton, and almost into the top four. 2009 was a breakthrough year for Porplyzia, he kicked 57 goals, 20 behinds making him Adelaide's leading goalscorer.
After struggling in his first year at Footscray, Cook played the best football of his career in 1997, with the club now re-branded the Western Bulldogs. He kicked 36 goals for the season, 17 of them in the final three games as the Bulldogs fell just short of making a Grand Final, to finish third in their goal-kicking behind Simon Minton-Connell and Chris Grant. His run started in round 22 when he kicked seven goals and three behinds against Hawthorn. He then kicked a game high four goals to help his club defeat Sydney in the Qualifying Final, outperforming Swans forward Tony Lockett.
Private Parts drew favorable comparisons to Lenny Bruce and his book How to Talk Dirty and Influence People, but it was also characterized as nothing more than an extension of his radio show with little more to offer. Stern was praised for his populist message and attracting a group of people who normally do not read either by choice or for lack of ability. Another frequent criticism was that the material was juvenile, with little more to offer than stories of "breasts, behinds, penises, masturbation, defecation, and the expulsion of gas". The book frequently drew comparisons to Lenny Bruce's 1965 autobiography How to Talk Dirty and Influence People.
The Crows had the first two scoring shots of the second term – behinds to Betts and Tom Lynch – but Richmond dominated the rest of the quarter. Tigers' defender Alex Rance provided a pivotal moment three minutes into the term. With the Crows 13 points up and charging into attack, he effected a desperate diving spoil to deny Adelaide captain Taylor Walker on the lead at centre half-forward. Moments later, Riewoldt finally got on the board but he needed some sloppy defending from Adelaide, letting his kick bounce through with no one on the line and Jake Kelly's late lunge ruled ineffective by a score review.
Benjamin David Sexton (born 29 October 1972 in Papua New Guinea) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Footscray and Carlton in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the 1990s. Born in Papua New Guinea, Sexton played his early football in the Bendigo Football League where he took the field for Sandhurst. Footscray picked him up with the 86th pick of the 1988 VFL Draft and he kicked five goals and three behinds on his league debut, against the Brisbane Bears at Western Oval. He kicked another three goals the following round but was dropped four weeks later after struggling for form.
In retail terms, a go-back is an item of merchandise which must be placed back on the store shelves. Such items usually accumulate during the store's open hours, and comprise a combination of returned items, items customers have decided not to purchase, and items store employees may have found left lying on the wrong shelf. Go-backs can often accumulate over several days because businesses, especially larger department stores, tend to have other priorities at the time and not enough employment to put the go-backs away. Go-backs are sometimes referred to as re-shop, put-backs, misplaced, shop-backs, returns, abandons, left-behinds, loose-stock, or shop-downs.
He was an important member of Adelaide's McClelland Trophy-winning team in 2005, kicking a career-best 39 goals, with 31 behinds. In the 2006 season, he produced four good performances to start the season, including 13 marks, 16 disposals and 3 goals in Round 1, but in a Round 4 clash with Fremantle's Luke McPharlin he injured and hyperextended his knee and tore his PCL requiring a knee reconstruction. He returned to the side late in the season and in the Qualifying Final vs Fremantle at AAMI Stadium, kicking a crucial goal late in the final quarter to help seal a come from behind win.
A related trend in 2011 and 2012 is the asymmetric peplum hem on shirts, sweaters and jackets for women. The peplum, a broad ruffled hem that is fitted at the waist and flares outward, has been a recurring fashion trend in Europe for centuries, and was last popular in Europe and North America during the 1940s and 1950s. An asymmetric version has been brought to women's fashion in 2012, but not all consumers find it flattering, with one American stating, "I do not believe it hides large hips and behinds, and the new asymmetrical peplums should only be worn by the tall and thin".
In her first four seasons, she was both the league's leading goalkicker and a premiership player with Waratah, becoming one of the highest-profile female footballers in the Northern Territory. In 2014, Holmes became the first woman to kick 100 goals in a season in an established women's football league, kicking 105 goals across 15 games in the 2013–14 NTFL season. She kicked seven or more goals in a single match on nine occasions and kicked ten or more thrice, including kicking 16 goals and five behinds in a match against Tracy Village. As a result of her achievement, she was mentioned by name in Federal Parliament.
He retired from AFL football at the end of 1998 due to injuries but went on to play. He firstly played for the West Preston Lakeside Football Club in the Diamond Valley League, and then the Melbourne University Football Club in the Victorian Amateur Football Association (VAFA). In 2011, he came out of retirement to play three games for the Chicago United Football Club in the Mid American Australian League 2011 Madison Invitational Tournament.2011 Madison Tournament He played in games against the Milwaukee Bombers, Minnesota Freeze, and Cincinnati Dockers, finishing with 10 goals and at least 10 behinds, helping Chicago United to a 2-1 record and 3rd-place finish.
The NSA History redacted most information, not already public, from 1954 to 1960. A section is titled "Diem's War against Internal Dissent". It opens with an observation that most opposition to President Diem was inflamed by "his program of wholesale political suppression, not just of the Viet Minh cadre that had stayed in the south after Geneva, but against all opposition, whether it was communist or not." By mid-1955, according to Diem, approximately 100,000 Communists were alleged to have surrendered, or rallied to Diem, although the NSA author suggests this did not correspond to political reality, since there were only an estimated 10,000 "stay-behinds".
After earning his first premiership medal in the Grand Final victory, where he placed third in the Norm Smith Medal voting after gathering 29 possessions and scoring two behinds, Scarlett also achieved All-Australian honours for the third time in his career. Scarlett also had at least 10 disposals in every match for the season, with nine of these totals above 20. As well as the premiership victory, Scarlett also celebrated his 100th win for the club, which came in Geelong's qualifying final victory over the . Scarlett helped the Cats achieve a record-equalling 21-win season and secure the McClelland Trophy for the second successive year in 2008.

He was drafted at the end of the 1995 AFL season under a father-son selection, and is the son of former Richmond 1969 premiership player Michael Bowden. In 2006, Bowden was among the leading possession getters in the AFL, and had the most possessions shared between any two players with his brother Patrick. He played his 200th AFL game in round 8 against , gathering 34 possessions as the Tigers upset the then-ladder-leading Crows by three points just a week after suffering a 118-point loss to the Sydney Swans. In round 16, 2008, Bowden was at the centre of a major controversy regarding rushed behinds.
The second quarter was a low-scoring affair, with only two behinds scored during the first twenty minutes of the quarter: one from West Coast's Mark Hutchings at the four-minute mark, and a rushed behind to Collingwood almost eighteen minutes into the term. De Goey broke the drought with his second goal of the afternoon, restoring Collingwood's lead to a relatively comfortable 23 points. But, as in the opening quarter, the Eagles scored two late goals: one from Hutchings at the 22-minute mark, and the other from Luke Shuey at the 26-minute mark, to reduce Collingwood's lead to only twelve points at half time.
Shane Sikora (born 11 March 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). West Coast recruited the Murray Bushrangers player with the 12th selection of the 1994 AFL Draft, which they had received from Collingwood for Lee Walker. A wingman, he did not make his AFL debut until late in the 1996 season, against Essendon at Subiaco, in which he kicked two behinds and had eight disposals. He played again the following week but had to wait almost two years to make his third appearance, instead spending most of his time with Perth in the WAFL.
Instead, however, it lands the crew in a female- oriented parallel universe with another version of Red Dwarf. Rather than having a female Cat on board, however, this universe's version of Red Dwarf instead has a male humanoid Dog (played by Matthew Devitt). He is depicted as flea-ridden, and having an interest in smelling people's behinds and a fear of baths. In "Timeslides" (1989), the Cat race temporarily ceases to exist after Lister is seen travelling back in time by entering a photographic slide with mutated developing fluid to convince his younger self (played by Emile Charles) to become wealthy and successful and not join the Space Corps.
Then, Chitty knocked down South Melbourne's next youngest player, 19-year-old Bill Williams, and was this time reported. South Melbourne attacked first after the stoppage, but managed only two behinds, before Carlton kicked three consecutive goals from general play – by Jim Mooring, Jack Bennett and Mick Price – to take an eight-point lead shortly before half time. After the goal, another incident broke out after Carlton's youngest player, 18-year-old Ken Hands, was knocked down behind play. Carlton players remonstrated with Jack Williams, and Spokes once again held up play as police entered the arena to assist with breaking up the fight.
The majority of Gravely riding tractors are, like the walk-behinds, characterized as "all-gear", that is, with a rear-mounted engine mated to a transaxle powering the tractor's rear wheels. This design thus eliminates the need for drive belts to power the tractor forward or backwards. The only belts required on Gravely equipment (with the exception of the 408) is the blade drive belt for its mower decks, which is powered by a gear box on the deck, which receives power from a PTO driveshaft connected to the tractor's drivetrain. The tractor's direction is controlled by a lever to the right of the operator for forward, neutral, or reverse operation.
Late in the first quarter, Matthews struck Greig on the forehead sending him to the ground, and was reported. Greig was knocked out again later in the match, yet in spite of these heavy blows still played well enough to be among North's best players on the day. The second quarter was for the most part even as both sides went goal for goal, but Kelvin Matthews and captain Don Scott kicked vital goals to give Hawthorn a 19-point lead at half time. Had they kicked for goal more accurately - star forward John Hendrie especially culpable with one goal and six behinds - the Hawks could easily have opened a six-goal lead.
Brisbane picked Strempel up from WAFL club Swan Districts with pick four in the 1990 Pre-Season Draft. Along with team-mate Peter Worsfold, Strempel made his debut in Brisbane's round five loss to Collingwood at Victoria Park and had 10 disposals. He retained his place in the side the following week when the Bears took on Essendon and although they couldn't get a win for Michael McLean in his 100th appearance, Strempel contributed two goals and had nine disposals. Not selected in round seven, he returned to the team the following round when Brisbane lost to St Kilda at the Gabba, with Strempel having 12 disposals, five hit-outs and kicking two behinds.
The 1996 AFL Lightning Premiership was an Australian rules football knock-out competition, played in its entirety before the Australian Football League's main pre-season competition began. The Lightning Premiership was held for the only time in the modern era in 1996 - the Centenary Season of the AFL. It was a knock-out competition played from Friday, 9 February until Sunday, 11 February, with four games each evening at Waverley Park, each consisting of two 17.5 minute halves. The game trialled a number of highly experimental rules, including three points awarded both for deliberate rushed behinds and balls which hit the goalposts, and timekeepers not blowing the siren if scores were tied.
Anthony Mellington (born 27 July 1974) is an Australian rules footballer who played with Fitzroy and North Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL). After being picked up in the 1995 Pre-Season Draft, Mellington made six AFL appearances in his first year at Fitzroy. He was a regular fixture up forward for Fitzroy in 1996, their last season in the AFL. His best performance came in round eight when he kicked six goals in a win over Fremantle.AFL Tables: Anthony Mellington Despite finishing the season with a modest 22 goals (and 26 behinds), it wasn't bettered by any other teammates, giving Mellington the honour of winning Fitzroy's final leading goal-kicker award in the AFL.
Hawthorn were the reigning premiers, having defeated Melbourne in the 1988 VFL Grand Final by a record margin of 96 points, while for Geelong it was their first appearance in a grand final since losing to Richmond in the 1967 VFL Grand Final. At the conclusion of the regular home-and-away season, Hawthorn had finished on top of the ladder with 19 wins and 3 losses. Geelong had finished third (behind Essendon) with 16 wins and 6 losses. The Cats also set a new record for the highest points total scored in a home-and-away season, having scored 425 goals and 366 behinds for a total of 2916 points, an average of nearly 133 points per game.
The 1992 AFL season was spent mostly as a defender but he could never establish his place in the Footscray team, although he put in the occasional good performance when pushed forward such as a haul of six goals and four behinds in a win over North Melbourne at the MCG in 1993. Sexton joined his brother Michael at Carlton in 1996, having been traded for inconsistent forward James Cook. Carlton had won the premiership the previous year and Sexton was only able to break into the side on four occasions. Sexton decided to retire from the AFL mid contract and return to the country to play for his former Bendigo Football League club Sandhurst.
The intensity of the match increased after the long break and both sides added four goals and five behinds to their respective scoreline, giving the Swans a slim lead at the final change. As was the case in the third term both sides scored an equal number of goals in last quarter, the most important and dramatic of these though was Krakouer's late goal merely seconds before the final siren. It put Swans into the one point lead that they would carry until the end of the game to clinch their first flag since 1990. Andrew Krakouer was the stand out performer of the match, kicking four goals and gaining forty possessions.
The Age's Caroline Wilson reported in late August that Lynch would join Richmond and in September another report by The Age said he had informed Collingwood and Hawthorn that he would not sign with them despite refusing to confirm his decision publicly before the end of that years' finals series. Within a week of the season's end, Lynch confirmed he would sign with Richmond, accepting what was reported to be a seven-year deal worth $6.5 million, heavily backloaded and beginning with around $500,000 in its first year. At that time he held the Gold Coast Suns club records for total goals, behinds, marks and goal assists while placing second behind only Jarrod Harbrow for most games played.
That included a particularly notable poor kicking performance in round 17 where he recorded five behinds and one shot out on the full. He improved his output in the final five matches of the season though, kicking a total of seven goals including two goals in a 17 disposal effort in round 23, his 50th career AFL match. In the first week of the finals series the minor premiership winning Richmond hosted fourth placed where Castagna recorded seven tackles but failed to score himself in what was a 31-point victory. His lack of scoreboard output was repeated in the preliminary final, where Castagna's side was knocked out in a shock loss to .
The family of the attacker staged a protest in Amman in the night following the incident, calling for the death penalty to be applied against the Israeli security official and the expulsion of the Israeli ambassador. The relatives of the Jordanian shot to death demand punishment for security guard: "he just went to assemble a bedroom", YNET, 24 July 2017 In response, Oren Hazan, a member of the Israeli Knesset tweeted "our neighbors from east to the Jordan [river], who we protect their behinds day and night, and give water to, need some re-education. It's starting to feel like a goodbye." The family of the attacker (Jawawdeh) demanded that the death penalty be imposed on the Israeli deputy.
Byrnes competed in the 2005 AFL Grand Final sprint, coming in third place. The speedy-left footer had an inconsistent season in 2006, with fluctuating form, failure to convert in front of goals and the inability to break into a strong team seeing him being put in and out of the playing squad. In 2007, Byrnes was a part of the 2007 Premiership team, picking up 14 disposals and kicking one goal. After a lacklustre season in 2008 and missing out on finals, he produced the best year of his career in 2009 kicking 32 goals 11 behinds for the season, crediting his form to an early pre-season and improved fitness.

In 1896, the VFA competition consisted of thirteen teams of 20 on-the-field players each. Because there was an odd number of teams, at least one team had a bye each week; the idle club often travelled to Ballarat to play one of the local senior clubs in a non- premiership match. When reporting match scores in 1896, the number of goals and behinds scored by each team is given; however, only the number of goals scored is considered when determining the result of a match. This was the final VFA season before the introduction of the modern system of scoring, in which six points is awarded for a goal and one point is awarded for a behind.
Paradoxically, it was whilst Footscray were declining from the middle bracket to perennial contenders for the wooden spoon with St Kilda and Melbourne that Dunstan rose to the heights not only of Footscray's top running players, but even to representing Victoria. On 1 July 1978 Dunstan and Kelvin Templeton kicked against St Kilda a record VFL/AFL total for two players in one team of 22 goals 12 behinds (144 points),FOOTSCRAY-WESTERN BULLDOGS: Seven Goals or more narrowly beating the total of Doug Strang and Jack Titus for Richmond against North Melbourne on 9 May 1931.For some data on Strang's feat, see Lovett, Michael (editor); AFL Record: Guide to Season 2005; p.
Reid made his debut for Victorian Football Association (VFA) team Fitzroy, as a backman, on Saturday 9 June 1894, at the Richmond Cricket Ground. It was Fitzroy's seventh game for the 1894 season, and Fitzroy won 10 goals 7 behinds to Richmond's 3 goals 11 behinds. The Football Season: Fitzroy v. He had been selected, earlier in the year, in the Fitzroy team to play in a practice match against the junior teams Austral (23) on Saturday 21 April 1894 (Sporting Intelligence: Matches Today:, The Argus, (Saturday, 21 April 1894), p.
In September, Mihos generated controversy by airing an animated political commercial, which showed a Big Dig engineer and politicians with their heads literally up their behinds. A centerpiece for Mihos's platform in his run for governor was what he called "Proposition 1," a plan to dedicate 40% of the state's budget to aid for the cities, end annual reassessment of property taxes (similar to California's Proposition 13), and eliminate fees for public education. He declared that he believes in traditional marriage between a man and a woman, but the personal lives of Massachusetts residents should be left private, and a vote on same- sex marriage is an issue for the voting public, not one man. In addition, he had pledged to enact campaign finance reform laws.
Shannon Gibson (born 7 November 1975) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Hawthorn and Collingwood in the Australian Football League (AFL) during the 1990s. Gibson was recruited by Hawthorn with the 23rd pick of the 1993 AFL Draft, after earning 'Best On Ground' honours for the Northern Knights in their TAC Cup final win over the Western Jets. He kicked two goals and two behinds on his AFL debut, a win over the previous year's Grand Finalists Geelong at Kardinia Park. In his three seasons at Hawthorn, Gibson was unable to cement a place in the team but did kick four goals against Geelong in 1997 and three goals in a win over Melbourne a week later.
St Kilda dominated in the first half of the second quarter, with a first score registered 33 seconds after the bounce. However, they could not put pressure on the scoreboard, kicking five behinds in the first fourteen minutes of the quarter – three of which were scored by Sam Gilbert while on the run – to take St Kilda's total score to only 0.7 (7), while Alan Didak scored a goal for Collingwood from the goal square in the 6th minute. Brendon Goddard finally scored St Kilda's first goal in the 15th minute from a 20m set shot. After missing two difficult shots at goal in the 17th and 18th minutes, Collingwood goalled twice in a space of one minute, through Macaffer and Jolly.
They finished the season with a 3-point loss to fellow top eight side Hawthorn with their score of 13 goals and 17 behinds again highlighting their inaccurate kicking. They finished the home-and-away season on top of the ladder with a percentage of over 140 and, despite the loss in round 22, were considered the premiership favourites. The finals series began well with Collingwood recording a convincing 62 point win against a disappointing Bulldogs side. The All-Australian squad would be named before the Preliminary Final with 4 magpies being awarded spots in the final 22: Harry O'Brien across half-back, Alan Didak at the half-forward flank, Dane Swan in the centre and Scott Pendlebury on the bench.
This resulted in the sacking of the opposition coach after a run of poor results. In Round 17, the Lions celebrated their return to the Melbourne Cricket Ground with a 93-point defeat of Collingwood. Jared Brennan played one of the best games in his 54-game career, scoring seven goals and five behinds. Rhan Hooper received a three match ban for striking Hawthorn's Rick Ladson, Joel Macdonald and Troy Selwood missed the must-win clash against Sydney. Brisbane started off well with Richard Hadley booting the first goal of the game but poor kicking and too many turnovers saw them trail by 10 points at quarter-time before Jonathan Brown evened the scores at 24-all at half-time.
Reid made one senior appearance in his first season at the Swans, making his debut in Round 22, 2010 against the Brisbane Lions he finished the match with 13 disposals, 8 marks and a goal. In 2011, Reid played all but one game and consistently displayed his athleticism and contested marking ability while playing in one of the most difficult positions on the field, at centre half- forward. In round 12, he was nominated for the 2011 AFL Rising Star after a strong performance against in which he kicked 2 goals and 5 behinds. Reid showed enormous promise during his first full season in the AFL and was rewarded with Swans Rising Star Award at the club's end of year awards night.
Moore would continue to wait for an AFL berth through the months of March and April, with reserves coach Craig McRae noting his "impressive development" and saying he "wouldn't be far off an AFL opportunity" following a two-goal VFL match in early April. Though it would take a further six weeks, that opportunity came in round 10, when Moore was selected for his first AFL match since round 23, 2016. Moore was given little opportunity to ease into that match however, as a concussion sustained early in the match saw teammate Jack Riewoldt play only the opening five minutes of the match and Moore tasked with considerable responsibility as the team's only remaining tall forward. Moore's performance was strong in Riewoldt's absence, taking six marks, kicking three behinds but failing to score a goal.
In the Dreamtime at the 'G match against the following week, he kicked two goals while adding another three behinds, in a performance that AFL Media said outshone the returned Riewoldt. An eight disposal and goalless game in round 12 however, would see Moore's AFL run ended as he was dropped back to VFL level. He was immediately prolific at that level, kicking a bag of five goals during a match against the Northern Blues in late June. That performance and good form over the following two weeks saw Moore earn an AFL recall for a match against in round 16. He kicked two goals in that match before going goalless in rounds 17 and 18 and being subsequently dropped back to VFL level ahead of round 19.
Geelong scored a goal through Hawkins in the second minute of the final quarter to bring the margin back to a single point. The 21 minutes that followed yielded only five behinds: the first two to St Kilda, and the next three to Geelong, tying the scores at 67 apiece. At the 24 minute mark of the final quarter, with less than five minutes of play remaining, Geelong's Steve Johnson had the ball in defense and kicked the ball towards Ablett, who had found space in the midfield. St Kilda's Zac Dawson had left his opponent Cameron Mooney and run a considerable distance from his own defense and managed to spoil the kick, and the ball fell to Scarlett, who had also run a long way from his own defensive area.
His first game came when Adelaide defeated Fremantle by 20 points at Football Park, with Richardson contributing an inaccurate one goal and four behinds. The following weekend he participated in a win over Richmond but had no disposals and four hitouts. A full-forward, Richardson instead spent most of 2001 playing at West Adelaide and became only the second Wests player alongside the club's all-time leading goalkicker Roger Luders (105 in 1983) to kick 100 goals for the season, 85 of them in the home and away season. He won four consecutive Ken Farmer Medals from 1998 to 2001, rewarded to the league's top goal-kicker, becoming the first ever West Adelaide player to win the award and just the third from the club to lead the league in goalkicking.
Collingwood performed scratchily in the NAB Cup and were made to play NAB Cup premiers and premiership favourites the Western Bulldogs in round 1. Despite coming in as underdogs they beat the Bulldogs, boasting new recruit Barry Hall, by six goals in a stirring victory. They would then win in unconvincing fashion against reigning wooden spooners Melbourne by a single point and would then go on to lose by 28 points against top four aspirant St Kilda in a low scoring encounter in round 3. Despite the Magpies dominating field position for much of the game they managed to only kick 4 goals and 17 behinds in what would become the beginning of a trend of inaccurate goal- kicking which the Pies would be widely criticised for throughout the season.
Franklin celebrating a goal against Adelaide in 2012 Franklin struggled early in the season with inaccurate goalkicking, kicking 21 goals and 36 behinds in his first nine matches.Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson says wasteful forward Lance Franklin is ready to 'tear a game apart' However, he dramatically reversed his fortunes in round 10 when he kicked a career-high thirteen goals in a 115-point drubbing of North Melbourne at Aurora Stadium. Franklin was also among five players that year to reach the milestone of 500 career goals, which occurred in a 162-point demolition of newcomers in round 15, nearly eclipsing the club- record winning margin set the year before. He is the second indigenous player to reach 500 goals, the fifth Hawthorn player, the seventh-youngest and the tenth-quickest from debut.
In 1897, the WAFA competition consisted of four teams of 20 on-the-field players each with only two venues, the WACA Ground and Fremantle Oval being used to host matches. This season also saw the introduction of the rule stipulating that a mark could only be made at the distance of ten yards or more, leading to a more open game. When reporting match scores in 1897, the number of goals and behinds scored by each team is given; however, only the number of goals scored is considered when determining the result of a match. This was the final WAFA season before the introduction of the modern system of scoring, in which six points is awarded for a goal and one point is awarded for a behind.
Cloke in 2007 In 2005, after injury setbacks to key big men Josh Fraser and Anthony Rocca, Cloke would make his debut in front of a 70,000 strong crowd on ANZAC Day against Essendon, where he would make an immediate impact at centre half-forward, having 16 disposals, 8 inside 50s and kicking a goal. He would continue to play good football as an 18-year-old, playing 14 of the next 15 games, before he was omitted before season's end. He earned an AFL Rising Star nomination in round 10 after several impressive weeks, following 16 touches and two goals against the West Coast Eagles with 15 touches, 6 marks, 4 tackles and a goal against Hawthorn. He managed an inaccurate 10.16 in his debut season, but many behinds coming from outside 50 metres, showing his penetrating left boot.
Collingwood dominated the second quarter. They won the clearances 16–6, and won the inside-50s 21–5, giving St Kilda almost no opportunity to score. Overall, Collingwood managed ten shots at goal, but took many from long distance, which affected their overall accuracy: their total score for the quarter was 3.6 (24) with one out on the full. Goals were scored by Cloke in the 3rd minute, Macaffer in the 18th minute from a holding the ball free kick against Eddy and 50-metre penalty against Ray, and O'Brien in the 26th minute; of their remaining shots, three fell short and were touched or rushed for behinds, while Cloke missed two relatively easy shots—one from a 25m set shot directly in front and one from a snap shot 30m out—in the final two minutes of the quarter.
After strong performances in the VFL for Casey in the first half of 2011, he made his AFL debut in the thirty-three point win against at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in round eleven, where he played primarily as a forward and recorded eight disposals, ten hitouts and two behinds. For his debut match, he had the number 37 jumper presented to him by 1991 Brownlow Medallist, Australian football and Melbourne hall of famer, Jim Stynes, who wore the same guernsey number in his first season. He played in the next two matches before being omitted for the round fourteen match. He returned to the senior side for the seventy-six point loss against at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in round 20, but he was dropped the next week and managed four matches in his debut season.
Meanwhile, Kruijswijk crossed the line almost five minutes down on Nibali and more than four minutes behind Chaves. Chaves took the maglia rosa with a 44-second advantage over Nibali as Kruijswijk, who would later be diagnosed with a fractured rib, fell to third overall at a minute and five seconds behinds. Stage 20 was the final decisive stage in terms of the general classification, with three first category climbs on the menu and the steep third category climb to the finish at Sant'Anna di Vinadio. Nibali attack started 4 km to the summit of Lombarda, and reached the GPM 56 seconds ahead of Chaves. In the last 10 kilometers its progression was irresistible reaching the end of the stage at Sanctuary of Sant’Anna with 1’36’’ on Chaves, becoming the new and last maglia rosa of the giro d'Italia number 99.
Cyril Rioli, winner of the Norm Smith Medal Hawthorn clearly beat the opposition across the ground, with 19 more inside 50s, 16 more contested possessions, 115 more disposals and 14 more tackles. The Eagles were largely tentative and paid for poor ball use, frequently making skill errors and turning the ball over. Hawthorn's goalkicking was also accurate when it mattered - early in the final quarter they had scored 16.5, but added a further six behinds after that. Amongst the best for Hawthorn were Rioli (18 disposals, 12 marks, two goals and four goal assists), Sam Mitchell (34 touches, six clearances), James Frawley (22 disposals, 11 marks and kept Eagles forward Josh Kennedy goalless), Hodge (30 disposals, 8 marks), Smith (three goals and 23 disposals), Shaun Burgoyne (26 disposals), Josh Gibson (29 disposals and 8 marks) and Gunston (four goals).
Smart's agency, called CONTROL in the TV series, was called PITS in this film, an acronym standing for "Provisional Intelligence Tactical Service". In spite of the title, the film was given a PG rating because there was no frontal nudity in the film; in the opening theme sequence, a title card reads: "Would you believe... a film called The Nude Bomb would get a PG rating". (The PG-13 rating was not created until 1984.) There are five times in the film where the bomb is detonated, but in each case the actors cover up their private areas with strategically placed briefcases (Soviet officials) or guns (Buckingham palace guards) or are shown only from the waist up. In one case, members of a football team are in a huddle when a bomb detonates, revealing bare behinds of some of the players.
As much as the majority of the 3rd quarter was dominated by Fremantle, the first half of the fourth quarter was dominated by the Hawks as they booted 3 unanswered goals to take themselves to a match winning 31-point lead. Jarryd Roughead missed a shot with his snap going wide before Isaac Smith slotted a massive goal from a set shot 55 metres out in similar fashion to Chris Mayne's goal in the third quarter. Additional goals to Luke Breust and Bradley Hill and behinds from Roughead and Lance Franklin put the result beyond doubt, stretching their lead to 31 points. During Hawthorn's period of dominance, Brian Lake, a recently recruited defender from the Western Bulldogs, was instrumental in shutting down Fremantle's attacks, taking two critical contested marks from opposing kicks to help his team to victory.
Franklin marking the ball against Richmond in 2017 Franklin played his 250th game in round 3, kicking three behinds in a one-point loss to Collingwood at the SCG. Two weeks later, Franklin kicked his 800th career goal with the last of his three goals in the Swans' 42-point loss to Greater Western Sydney; this was Sydney's fifth of six-straight losses to start the season, which was their worst start to a season since 1993. The Swans' losing streak came to an end when Franklin kicked eight goals in a 54-point win against the Brisbane Lions in round 7. In round 10, for Indigenous Round, Franklin was among a number of players who wore the number 67 on their guernseys to commemorate the 1967 referendum which allowed Indigenous Australians to be counted with the general population in the census.
The 1993 State of Origin Championships, known formally as the CUB AFL State of Origin championship, was an Australian rules football series between representative teams of all Australian states. While Victoria and Tasmania and South Australia and Western Australia would play as their own States, New South Wales combined with Australian Capital Territory and Queensland combined with Northern Territory to have full representation in State of Origin football for the first time since the 1988 Bicentennial Carnival. Section One was won by South Australia and Section Two was won by Queensland-Northern Territory. All 4 matches were played under the same rules as that of the pre season premiership, with all 4 quarters running for 20 minutes, time on added for goals and behinds scored and for the treating of injured players, and extra time if the scores were level at full time.
The tenacious Swift – already greatly tired from having to captain his team, counteract the stronger, heavier, and taller Wade, and kick the ball back into play after the eight behinds that Geelong had scored up to that moment in the last quarter), single-mindedly concentrating on his task, took one of the finest marks of his career at the Punt Road end of the M.C.G. With the strong September afternoon sun shining directly into his eyes, without any opposition (with the goal umpire crouching in a perfect position to determine its legality), he first caught the ball perhaps ten feet above the ground (3m), right on the goal line, to turn Geelong away, and retain Richmond's lead of ten points. He played on, and his clearing drop-kick almost hit the centre. Moments later, Polinelli surged up the ground kicked Geelong's ninth behind for the quarter; and, as Polinelli's kick went through, the siren sounded, with Richmond finally winning by nine points 16.18 (114) to 15.15 (105).
The release of the film is often taken as a starting point (along with the earlier Sex, Lies, and Videotape) for the independent film movement of the 1990s. Many of the independent filmmakers of that period credit the film with inspiring or opening doors for them, perhaps most famously Kevin Smith, who has said on numerous occasions that the film was the inspiration for Clerks. The film also popularized the use of "slacker" to describe "a person regarded as one of a large group or generation of young people (especially in the early to mid 1990s) characterized by apathy, aimlessness, and lack of ambition". Linklater has said that he wanted the word to have positive connotations. For example, in a self-interview in the Austin Chronicle, Linklater stated: “Slackers might look like the left-behinds of society, but they are actually one step ahead, rejecting most of society and the social hierarchy before it rejects them.
Richmond (VFA) centreman, Charlie Backhouse, who played over 200 games in a 15-year career 1891–1905; captain 1905. Despite predictions of the demise of the VFA after the formation of the VFL, the earlier-formed competition continued for another 99 years, although the VFL immediately took its place as the senior Victorian competition. Nevertheless, under the wise presidency of Theodore Fink, the VFA continued to play a significant role. In 1897, the VFA followed the VFL and also introduced two of their reforms: the counting of behinds towards the score; and the abolition of the 'little mark'. The VFA didn't introduce a finals system until 1903 when the Argus system was used. (The Page–McIntyre system was introduced in 1933, two years after the VFL had first used it.) The following year, 1898, saw two more reforms to the VFA's rules: the number of players was reduced from 20 to 18; an order-off rule was introduced.
The Eagles dominated the contest from this point forward, at one point leading the inside-50 count for the quarter 14–3; however, they repeatedly failed to convert, as four consecutive shots at goal in the middle portion of the quarter were behinds, narrowing the margin to one point. Collingwood's final score of the game, a behind, came from Hoskin- Elliott in the 22nd minute. With less than three minutes remaining, West Coast put together a sequence of play from a mark from McGovern in defence, which ended with a mark in the forward pocket to Dom Sheed; from a distance of about and almost on the boundary line, Sheed kicked a goal to put West Coast in front by four points with less than two minutes left. West Coast attacked again from the ensuing centre clearance; Darling dropped an uncontested mark almost on the goal-line, and Collingwood managed to force a behind to extend the margin to 5 points inside the final minute.
Franklin at Sydney's fan day following the 2014 AFL Grand Final Prior to the 2014 season, his first as a Swan, Franklin opted to continue wearing the number 23 guernsey that he previously wore for Hawthorn. He made his debut for the Sydney Swans in the round 1 Sydney Derby against cross-town rivals Greater Western Sydney at Spotless Stadium, and finished the game with one goal in a shock loss. After a slow start for both Franklin and the Swans, when they lost three of their first four matches, Franklin returned to form against Fremantle at the SCG, kicking four second-half goals in what would be the first of a club record-equalling twelve successive wins, during which he twice narrowly avoided suspension. In round 8 against Hawthorn at ANZ Stadium, Franklin kicked seven successive behinds in the first three quarters, before kicking two fourth-quarter goals to seal an upset victory in Franklin's first match against his former side.
Franklin saved his best performance of the season – and arguably his best for the Swans – for the eve of finals, recording 25 disposals, ten marks and ten goals against Carlton at the SCG in round 23. This was only the second time in Franklin's career that he had kicked ten or more goals, and it took him to 69 goals for the home-and-away season. At the end of the previous round, Franklin had trailed Josh Kennedy, winner of the last two Coleman Medals, by five goals, but the dominant performance saw him eventually finish four goals ahead of Kennedy, sealing Franklin's fourth Coleman Medal; it also continued Franklin's trend of winning a Coleman Medal every three years. Franklin reasserted his decade-long dominance against Essendon in the elimination final, kicking four goals in a second-quarter burst despite suffering a corked thigh in the first quarter, but was quiet in the semi-final loss to Geelong, kicking three behinds.
In the final six weeks, he kicked two goals and nine behinds, which contributed to his goal kicking percentage dropping from 69.8% in 2015 to 55.4% in 2016. Despite criticism and a drop in goal kicking accuracy, he was still highly rated within the industry, with former forward Barry Hall labelling him the second best young key forward in the league, and the fans rating him the fourth best young player in the league in an online survey. He was also named in the "20in2020" team, a team comprising the best twenty players drafted from the previous four AFL Academy intakes, and he was named in the AFL Media team of the week three times during the season. Additionally, he was selected as the centre half- forward in the 22under22 team for the second consecutive year, finished eighth in Melbourne's best and fairest count with 261 votes, and was recognised as one of the best young players in the league by the AFL coaches, finishing as the runner up in the AFLCA best young player award behind Sydney midfielder, Isaac Heeney.
With a growing desire to have a uniform set of rules across the country to facilitate intercolonial play and development of the sport, invitations were sent to all of the major football clubs or leagues. The meeting was attended by delegates representing Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and Tasmania; delegates from New South Wales also travelled to Melbourne but due to communication errors missed the conference; New Zealand was also invited to send a delegate. After debating rule differences which existed at that time between the colonies (including Tasmania's desire to have a crossbar on the goal posts, or South Australia's desire to have behinds count towards the final score of matches), a uniform set of rules was agreed to; the decisions were not binding, but were adhered to due to the collective desire of the delegates. Over the following decade, delegates from the different colonies or regions (Northern and Southern Tasmania, for example, were separately represented) met most Novembers to make adjustments to the playing and administrative rules of the game, coming to agreements based on a vote of attending delegates.
In the 21st minute, a pivotal moment in the match occurred: Adams attempted to clear the ball from Collingwood's backline with a dangerous miskick which went towards Stephenson at centre half-back. Collingwood runner Alex Woodward, who was in the area delivering another message at the time (since runners were still allowed on the ground during general play at the time, as the rule limiting their access to the ground was introduced only in 2019), proceeded to accidentally impede Stephenson's access to the marking contest, allowing West Coast midfielder Elliot Yeo an uncontested intercept mark from which he kicked a set shot and put West Coast ahead for the first time since the beginning of the game. There were no more goals in the quarter, with the Magpies initially edging ahead once again with three consecutive behinds in time-on, and Shuey levelling the scores at 8.7 (55) apiece with a late behind. For only the second time in history, and first time since 1937, scores were level at three-quarter time of a Grand Final.
