On a night when her lawyer and lover, François Durnais, brings his good friend, Chief Magistrate Paul Barrière, to the club, a raid is staged by police and the performers, including Simone, are placed under arrest. Paul wishes the charges to be dismissed, but his younger colleague Philippe Forrestier believes the laws against public indecency should be enforced. Visiting the cabaret and pretending to be someone else, Philippe becomes better acquainted with Simone and develops a romantic interest in her, but she is warned by dancer Claudine that he is actually a judge.

The nature and breadth of infection becomes better known in the second novel, the possessers occupying several factions, including that of Al Capone (possessing a local citizen) on New California, Keira Salter on Valisk and Quinn Dexter as he travels from world to world, until finally reaching Earth. Calvert and his group is tasked with finding Dr Mzu, who is believed to be searching for her doomsday weapon to complete her dream of slaying the Omutan people. The search takes her to the Disk-system which is now inhabited by the survivors of the Garissan genocide, and finally (with the aid of Calvert) to an uninhabited system to find the Alchemist starship which was damaged at the beginning of the first novel. The weapon is used to destroy a gas giant world, also destroying possessed starships controlled by the Capone organization.

Musashi writes, "In this kind of way of strategy, both those teaching and those learning the way are concerned with colouring and showing off their technique, trying to hasten the bloom of the flower" (as opposed to the actual harmony between strategy and skill). With those who are concerned with becoming masters of strategy, Musashi points out that as a carpenter becomes better with his tools and is able to craft things with more expert measure, so too can a warrior or strategist become more skilled in his technique. However, just as a carpenter needs to be able to use his tools according to plans, so too must a strategist be able to adapt his style or technique to the required strategy of the battle he is currently engaged in. This description also draws parallels between the weapons of a trooper (or soldier) and the tools of a carpenter; the idea of "the right tool for the right job" seems to be implied a lot throughout The Book of Five Rings.

Sonya and Agafya from Nikolai Gogol's play "Marriage" (2003) are the most enduring roles, surpassing the 150 performances along over a decade. In 2002 Andreea becomes better known to a wider audience through the role "Eva Antal" of the first Romanian soap opera "În familie" (In family) produced by Prima TV. She also recorded acoustic performances for radio theater. In 2004 she receives "The UARF Award" for her role in the film "Damen Tango" granted by "The Union of Authors and Film Producers from Romania" and in 2005 at UNITER Gala she wins "The Award for Best Supporting Actress" in "Forma lucrurilor", Romanian version of "The Shape of Things" written by Neil LaBute. The following year, after more than a decade after her theatrical debut, she plays her first negative role Silvia Damian in the telenovela "Daria, iubirea mea" (Daria, my love) produced by Acasă TV. In 2007 Andreea is the winner of "The UNITER Award for Best Actress" for the character Grace in "Purificare", Romanian version of "Cleansed" by Sarah Kane performed at Cluj-Napoca National Theatre.
