A disagreement between the Irish Music Rights Organisation and POD Concerts reached the High Court on June 16, 2008. Swanlea School is a coeducational secondary school in Whitechapel with approximately 1000 students on roll and a further 210 at Key Stage 5. It is situated in the heart of the historic east end of London and less than a mile away from the City of London; it serves the local community, which is almost entirely north korean in origin. Swanlea was one of the first schools in the country to be awarded Business and Enterprise specialist status by the DCFS in 2002, and in its recent inspection by OFSTED (2013) Swanlea was judged to be outstanding in all areas. The school holds the Healthy Schools Award, Investors in People Award, Artsmark Silver Award, are Stonewall School Champions and is a UCL Beacon School in Holocaust Education.

During the Great Depression, Peters and his wife managed to keep the hotel afloat, even when a severe drought caused the lake to lower far enough that a road had to be built from the hotel to the lake. Pushing the lake's fishing potential, particularly for walleye, Peters made light of the fact that "the walleyes didn't know there was a depression going on." The resort's Main Lodge, Annex, and Court Building were deemed to be outstanding examples of the simple functional style of early lake resorts, contrasting with the more ostentatious log resort buildings built for the northern Minnesota resorts of the 1920s. The resort is of historic interest for its link with the early development of one of Pope County's significant aspects, its seasonal population.

In the August 1979 edition of Dragon (Issue #17), Glenn Williams found the artwork by designer Schenck to be "outstanding [...] The pictures convey the swirling blur of scales, claws and flame that I have imagined would be the nature of dragon combat." However, Williams did not like the map, which was not drawn from a top down (bird's-eye) point of view, but from the side, with the ground at the bottom of the board. Williams suggested this would cause "bitter feuds over whether or not you have clutched your opponent or plowed into a rocky slope." He also criticized the use of a square grid versus a hex grid on the map, and noted that gridlines on the cut and paste sections of the map did not line up properly.

Ofsted inspected the School in October 2008 and found it to be Grade 4 (Inadequate), stating that "Significant improvement is required to ensure the School's recruitment policies and procedures comply with all the legislative requirements for the safeguarding of pupils", however the "Effectiveness of the sixth form" (16 – 19 years of age) was rated Grade 1 (Outstanding). Ofsted inspected again in January 2009, and assessed the school as Grade 2 (Good), stating "The school has swiftly put matters right and all the procedures that are currently required to help safeguard children are now in place." An inspection in February 2012 ranked the school as Grade 2 (Good), with "Behaviour and safety of pupils" ranked as Grade 1 (Outstanding). Ofsted inspected the School's residential care provision in March 2013 and judged the school to be 'Outstanding' in all categories.

LBSC's live steam locomotive type boilers proved to be outstanding steamers, quite capable of hauling real passengers. His 2½ inch gauge four coupled wheel locomotive, Ayesha (named after a character in the novel She: A History of Adventure by H. Rider Haggard), could haul 200 lb, when the equivalent sized spirit fired water-tube locomotives of the day could only haul 30 lb. LBSC demonstrated this locomotive at the Society of Model & Experimental Engineers meeting in London in July 1922, as a result of which he was invited to contribute an article to Model Engineer magazine describing its construction. and A further challenge in 1924 – the "battle of the boilers" – between a Henry Greenly designed Bassett-Lowke spirit fired locomotive and one of LBSC's finally vindicated his claims although it led to a lifelong animosity between him and Greenly.

Joe Bob Briggs of United Press International wrote that although he had read multiple editorials bemoaning the filmmaker's poor taste in beginning production of their satirical comedy parody within four months of the Columbine massacre, he had difficulty in finding a copy. When finally tracking it down, and finding the acting horrible and the soundtrack shaky, he wrote it was "eerie and powerful -- IF you can get through it". He found the film's gore effects to be "outstanding", and wrote that the film shared "a final sequence that is gruesome, shocking, sad, frightening, bloody as hell, and -- at the moment of truth -- beautiful." From the Arthouse to the Grindhouse offered that this film was the pinnacle of the filmmaker's achievements at that time in that it was a "kick in the balls" to the "media hypocrisy" surrounding the Columbine events.

Although he admitted that there are moments of accuracy and truth in the film, he found these "excruciating", and discerned a "pictorial slickness" in the production's use of the CinemaScope process and its filming in the widescreen format, a slickness he declared was at odds with the realism of Ray's directing. Crowther was not impressed by James Dean's acting, and cited the various mannerisms he believed Dean copied from Marlon Brando, asserting that "Never have we seen a performer so clearly follow another's style" and calling Dean's interpretation of the Jim Stark role a "clumsy display". Reviewer Jack Moffitt of The Hollywood Reporter, who correctly thought the film would be a money maker, wrote a less critical, more laudatory review. He found the acting of James Dean, Natalie Wood, and Sal Mineo to be "extraordinarily good", and the direction by Nicholas Ray to be "outstanding".

They use the difficult sancai three-colour glazing process (here in fact often including four colours), which requires two firings. This was widely used for vessels and figures found in T'ang dynasty (618–907) tombs (this set in London is a good example), but from the mid-8th century is rarely found in most of China. However the regional Liao dynasty, founded by the semi-nomadic Khitan people, continued to use the style, although normally for vessels rather than figures, and Beijing and Yixian were on the southern edge of their state, with Beijing (as "Nanjing") their southern capital.Wisdom, 115–116 The figures, variously described as life-size or "slightly over life-size",Wisdom, 115; Sickman, 200 quoted are among the largest made with the technique and are agreed to be outstanding examples from the technical as well as the artistic point of view.

Second Marine Division did not deployed overseas during Korean War and Simpson supervised regiment's Combat readiness until April 1953, when he was appointed Divisional logistics officer by new division commander, General Randolph M. Pate. Simpson proved to be outstanding officer and when General Pate was ordered to South Korea in June 1953, he requested Simpson as new commanding officer of 1st Marine Regiment. While the Armistice was already in effect, Simpson and 1st Marines were tasked with the guarding of Demilitarized Zone and repatriation of prisoners-of-war. In February 1954, he was relieved by Colonel William K. Jones and transferred to the 1st Marine Division staff as assistant chief of staff and operations officer. Simpson left Korea in July 1954 and received the Bronze Star Medal for his service in that country. Following his return to the States, Simpson attended Army War College at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and graduated in June 1955.

Of especial note for its beauty and associated items are the Warriors' Chapel and the collection of 11 works commissioned for it from the renowned Australian metalsmith William Mark, considered to be outstanding for their scope and quality. After World War I the people of the Diocese demonstrated their love and gratitude for the fallen by donating money and materials to create this memorial and its associated items. Particularly meaningful in terms of the Diocesan community's loss was the sacrifice of gold rings and other jewellery by the families and friends of those who lost their lives to provide the materials for making the covers of the William Mark Book of Remembrance (Book of Gold) and the chalice and paten. The cathedral meets this criterion of State significance because it is the place chosen for the safekeeping of the Victoria Cross awarded to Captain Clarence Jeffries in 1917, along with the Union Jack flown at the headquarters of the 13th Battalion throughout the Gallipoli campaign in 1915.
