By about halfway through the third chapter, it was clear that the game's core cast was settling, and that you'd spend the bulk of this adventure with a disabled alcoholic past his prime, a working class Mexican woman, an orphaned child whose parents whose family had been made homeless during the subprime mortgage crisis, and a pair of androids designed for labor but who'd recreated themselves as stylish (and queer-coded) musicians.

But we've been so programmed to understand the action in "Westworld" as predigested that the fight has no emotional impact: We can appreciate the horror embedded in Dolores's calculation that Major Craddock and his men are disposable in the grand scheme of things, but the moral stakes involved in actually witnessing these stranded Confederados get shot into Swiss cheese are very low: There's little indication that they have evolved anything like the kind of off-script consciousness possessed by hosts like Dolores and Bernard, and they're still androids after all.
