Betty scores a major coup, with Adriana agreeing to do the cover and a feature about the fruit for Mode, and thus earns the job of project manager as Daniel and Wilhelmina kill the "Sizzling Hot" issue. Kimmie, who is fumed by this move, is bent on sabotaging Betty's coup. As Betty is getting ready for her close- up, Kimmie offers to do Betty's makeup, but then ruins Betty's on-air interview with Fashion TV by having the lights on too high so that the heat causes Betty to sweat profusely and ruin her make-up, including fake eyelashes. Betty excuses herself and Kimmie swoops in to steal the spotlight.
Aided by the Frontier, the Empire counter-attacks the Anglo forces, and after a series of losing battles, the Anglo Isles finally withdraw their troops and return to their home country. They soon realize that the Solar Empire has no superweapon, since their attack did not prompt the use of such a device, but Admiral A-Qira, saying that "honor demands that we launch a subsequent attack immediately", prepares for a counterstrike (even though Empress Lei-Qo forbids it), calling on Marshall Nova and the Tundra Territories to assist him, with Nova agreeing to do so, after visited upon by the ghost of his father, Tsar Gorgi.

Darren took part in the 12th season of the Britain's Got Talent TV show at the age of 68. Initially head hunted for the show late in 2017, she debated on whether it was a good career move; finally agreeing to do so, she started her BGT audition dressed as a granny, before stripping down to rock chick the black outfit underneath, and rocking out to AC/DC's "Highway to Hell". The entire audience, including all four judges, gave Darren a standing ovation when she finished singing. Following her appearance, there was an initial, unsubstantiated, negative tabloid newspaper report regarding her, which resulted in Darren no longer appearing in the show.
In November 2015, Adrihani Rashid, the President of Goldsmith Students' Union, resigned from her position amid allegations that she had been bullied by Mustafa. Mustafa and Alex Etches, the union's campaigns and activities officer, were said to have created a "hostile" working environment for Rashid, undermining her and "badmouth[ing]" her to other students, as well as accusing her of acting "undemocratically" when Rashid refused to endorse solidarity statements backing student protesters and occupiers. Goldsmiths called for a full investigation into the allegations, with the union agreeing to do so. In a statement, the union stated that it "takes these allegations very seriously, and having raised these with the Trustee Board, will be instigating an independent inquiry".
Ranuccio refused to repay the debts incurred by his father, despite the latter having a signed a peace treaty agreeing to do so. He also refused to recognise the new bishop of Castro, appointed by Urban's successor, Innocent X. In 1649, the new bishop, Cardinal Cristoforo Giarda, was murdered on his way to Castro. Innocent accused Ranuccio of the murder and in retaliation, forces loyal to the Pope besieged Castro, and then razed it to the ground. In August of that same year the Parmense troops had been crushed not far from Bologna, and Ranuccio remained with no means to gain back his fief, despite his attempts to buy it back with money.
However, when the Toronto–York Spadina Subway Extension (TYSSE) opened, the TTC decided not to activate this feature, despite previously agreeing to do so as shown by the installation of the commissioned piece, because of the potential for displaying offensive messages. Given that the 2009 revision of the TTC By-law No. 1 explicitly prohibits the use of such language, a question remains of how that by-law would apply to an artwork as it is not itself communicating "profane, insulting or obscene language or gestures". The TTC is negotiating a compromise solution with the artists, raising questions of how a compromise of this nature undermines the fundamentals of the artwork. The cost of the artwork was $500,000.

She takes on an interesting investigation: Mma Holonga, a rich businesswoman, is seeking a husband, and asks Mma Ramotswe to check the men on her shortlist of four, to eliminate those who only want her for her money. Meanwhile, Mma Makutsi, Mma Ramotswe's assistant, moves to better rooms thanks to her promotion and extra income, but is mourning the loss of her brother. Mma Potokwani, the formidable matron of the orphan farm, manoeuvres Mr J.L.B. Matekoni into agreeing to do a sponsored parachute jump to benefit the orphans.
The campaign for independence has also enjoyed support from a minority of trade unionists. In 2013, a branch of the Communications Workers Union covering Edinburgh, Lothians, Fife, Falkirk, and Stirling voted to back a motion describing independence as "the only way forward for workers in Scotland", and agreeing to "do all in our power to secure [a Yes] outcome". Additionally, the Scottish Trades Union Congress has refused to take a stance on the referendum, instead laying out "challenges for both sides of the debate", in particular calling on Better Together to "outline a practical vision of how social and economic justice can be achieved within the union". Other left-wing sections refused to support a nationalist position, instead arguing either for working-class unity or a critical approach to both sides.

Begun in the anthology series New Triumph, the Northguard series centred on the misadventures of Philip Wise, a young Montreal resident of European Jewish ancestry, who had found himself caught up in the efforts of a private corporation's senior staff to defeat a conspiracy known collectively as “ManDes” (from the term “manifest destiny”) to force Canada and the United States to merge under a quasi-Christian theocratic dictatorship with elements borrowed from white supremacist doctrine. Wise was recruited as the corporation's field agent as a result of the murder of another operative, who was the only one neurologically equipped to use a unique energy weapon, called the “Uniband”, built as an offshoot of applied physics experimentation. Wise's single condition for agreeing to do so was the creation of a “superhero” identity: Northguard. Wise later improvised the name Le Protecteur as a more suitable French language version.
On December 30, 2008, Cumulus Media was issued a $14,000 Notice of Apparent Liability by the Federal Communications Commission related to the stations in the Macon, Georgia cluster. According to the FCC, Cumulus failed to comply with record- keeping requirements and its Equal Employment Opportunity rules regarding information on recruitment sources. Cumulus, along with two other companies, had 30 days to pay or file a statement asking for reduction or cancellation of the forfeitures. In January 2016, the Federal Communications Commission's Enforcement Bureau reached a "record-setting" $540,000 settlement with Cumulus over sponsorship identification in radio ads promoting a proposed energy project, reported to be the largest payment in FCC history for a single- station violation of the Commission's sponsorship ID laws. In August 2019, the FCC proposed Cumulus Media pay another $233,000 fine for additional violations of its sponsorship identification rules and not reporting them to the FCC after agreeing to do so under its 2016 consent decree.
Gordo 106 was developed late in the lifecycle of the Lynx and failed to recoup its investment due to a low install base. Gordo 106 was conceived by Wyeth after a meeting with Jack Tramiel, who told them if his company could develop a game and after agreeing to do so, Wyeth came up with twelve potential ideas for a game in three days, proceeded to create various proposals in order to showcase them at Atari Corp. and after they chose a proposal entitled The Emancipation of Gordo 106: The Mutated Lab Monkey, Wyeth told Erich to draw art from scratch for the game while also hiring Brevik to program due to his interest in making a professional gaming product and along with Max, the three began working on the project. The team sought to create a character with unique movement, as Wyeth was a fan of Spider-Man, which would later influence the idea of playing as a monkey in the game.
In 1973, Gaye released his greatest-selling album, Let's Get It On, which made him the biggest-selling Motown artist during his lifetime. Motown Records, Gaye's label for over a decade, had long wanted Gaye to promote his recordings with a national tour but the rebellious singer, who had begun suffering from stage fright after the collapse of his beloved singing duet partner Tammi Terrell in October 1967 and whom later died of a brain tumor two and a half years later in March 1970, had refused to return to live performing only agreeing to do it only at sporadic times including when he was honored in his hometown in Washington, D.C. in May 1972 and performed at the Kennedy Center and briefly on the 1973 film, Save the Children. But with the success of Let's Get It On and Gaye's now-increasing spending habit, he reluctantly agreed to start touring again in the beginning of 1974. After rescheduling the concert for January 4, 1974, at the Oakland Coliseum Arena, Gaye took the stage in front of 14,000-plus screaming fans.
When the group arrived to the location, Atari had a Jaguar development setup along with a prototype of the Atari Jaguar CD add-on for demonstration purposes to third-party developers. Interested in acquiring a development kit for the system, the team spoke with company representatives in regards to the subject and reached an agreement, purchasing and receiving various hardware kits to program games for the system. During a brainstorming session, the team originally had plans to create an project that was a spoof of the damsel in distress plot found in various titles at the time, but the idea was later discarded after publishers showed little interest in it, however, they later settled down in creating a Bomberman title as their "dream game", with Mike himself contacting Hudson Soft via online in regards to develop a title of the series for the Jaguar. He discussed with an employee of the company named Bill Rich and told that Atari was interested in acquiring the rights of the series, with the latter agreeing to do so after speaking with Hudson, and the team started development of Bomberman Legends between late 1994 and early 1995.
