The International Play Association (IPA) is an international, non-governmental organization founded in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1961, with an original emphasis on adventure playgrounds. The organization gradually changed its focus to play and children's right to play. Its purpose is to protect, preserve and promote children's right to play as a fundamental human right, according to the Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. IPA has members in close to 50 countries. At the IPA Malta Consultation, November 1977, the Declaration of the Child’s Right to Play was produced.

Inclines are fairly shallow and so the speeds kept relatively low, negating the need for a means of stopping. The term "flying fox" is commonly used in reference to such a small-scale zip-line in Australia and New Zealand. With playground equipment, the pulleys are fixed to the cable, the user typically hanging onto a hand grip underneath but occasionally including a seat or a safety strap.

The Horton Light Railway used to run through this land from Ewell West railway station to the five psychiatric hospitals owned by the London County Council, known as the Epsom Cluster. The Spedding family, who still own the house, have enlarged the house several times, with the last major changes occurring in the 1960s, when extensive renovation work was carried out, and in the 1980s, when the ground floor and grounds were opened to the public. The grounds now include a bee garden, a wild flower meadow, a "poetry walk", squirrel island and adventure playgrounds. The Spedding family had strong links to a number of poets, including Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Robert Southey, Edward FitzGerald and Thomas Carlyle. During the Second World War, Lady Allen, with the support of the Home Secretary, Herbert Morrison, with whom she was friends, established a scheme whereby waste material from the bomb sites were turned into children's toys. After World War II she served as a liaison officer with UNICEF in Europe and the Middle East. She campaigned for facilities for children growing up in the new high-rise developments in Britain's cities and wrote a series of illustrated books on the subject of playgrounds, and at least one book on adventure playgrounds, spaces for free creativity by children, which helped the idea spread worldwide.

The Sampson family, now dedicated to the park, chose to sell their "Sampson Coaches and Buses" company in 1989 and "MOT testing centre and garage" in 1990 to allow them to concentrate solely on the management and finance of Paradise Park and Woodland Zoo. In the early 1990s, the site's name was changed to "Paradise Wildlife Park" and work continued to improve the facilities. He published Ian McHarg's ecological planning research, and covered areas that included use of native species for plantings, landscape sculpture and adventure playgrounds. Clay regularly filled the pages of the Landscape Architecture magazine with tough, critical stories on land reclamation; pending legislation; and ecology, among others, which he hoped would spur his readers into action. Play structure in the Adventure Playground Adventure Playground is an urban park and adventure playground in Berkeley, California, located at the Berkeley Marina. The park opened in 1979 based on the ideas of Danish architect Carl Theodor Sørensen, who had made use of scrap junkyards for playgrounds when Copenhagen was under occupation during World War II. The adventure playground model, sometimes referred to as a "junk playground," is to provide children with the resources to build. The available tools include saws, hammers, workbenches, and nails. The legal liability raised by giving children relatively unrestricted access to these tools has made adventure playgrounds rare in the United States, with the Berkeley Adventure Playground being one of only four in the country.

The school campus is located along Glen Street. The grounds include five main buildings: two K-2 classroom blocks, one incorporating the School's assembly hall and canteen; a classroom block incorporating the computer room; another Years 3-6 classroom block with the uniform shop at one end; and a main administration block which includes the School's library and audio-visual room. There is a large playground which includes an oval, cricket nets, two adventure playgrounds, a netball/basketball court, a shaded sandpit, a number of handball courts marked on the asphalt section and a Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA) which provides a covered space for sport, social and daily school activities. The school shares its grounds with two small remnants of the now endangered Duffy's Forest ecological community, where ecologists have identified 87 different plants.

The schemes therefore proved successful in making extra social provision while encouraging community development. In January 1969, 23 local authorities were awarded a total of £3 million mainly for nursery education but also for children's homes and day nurseries. The second phase, in July 1969, agreed to finance some 500 projects in 89 authorities to a total of £4.5 million, and while the emphasis again stressed education with teachers; centres, nursery schools and language classes for immigrants, aid was also given through the local authorities to voluntary societies to run adventure playgrounds, play centres, and play groups.
