In 1990 only 8% of all speakers eligible to make the finals at Australasian championships were female, although women were over- represented as adjudicators. In 1991, the year before the introduction of the affirmative action requirement, the first women's meeting was held to discuss ways to combat the problem.
In addition to being an International Festival Member of the British and International Federation of Festivals, Cork's Feis has fostered strong ties with the Sri Lanka Festival of Music, Dance and Speech. Founded in 1998 by Joy Ferdinando, the Sri Lankan Festival has over 13000 participants, who perform over a three-month period across 36 cities. So widespread is the event, that between May and July, appointed adjudicators travel somewhere in the region of 21,000 kilometres. Feis Maitiú Administrator, Tim McCarthy, directed a production at the festival in Sri Lanka back in 2006 and 2007.
The Online Wildcard is open to registered Canadian Improv Games student teams and offers an additional opportunity to receive feedback on their performances from CIG judges and trainers while also getting an extra chance to qualify for the National Tournament in Ottawa. Teams submit a video of their events taped in front of a live audience. Once submitted these are then sent to the Online Wildcard Judges and Adjudicators who will then send crucial feedback that will help the growth of the team and to select a winner.
Two Druids, 19th century engraving based on a 1719 illustration by Bernard de Montfaucon, who claimed that he was reproducing a bas-relief found at Autun, Burgundy. A druid was a member of the high-ranking class in ancient Celtic cultures. Perhaps best remembered as religious leaders, they were also legal authorities, adjudicators, lorekeepers, medical professionals and political advisors. While the druids are reported to have been literate, they are believed to have been prevented by doctrine from recording their knowledge in written form, thus they left no written accounts of themselves.
Among its services for its members, TANYS administers a Lending Library of theatrical scripts, and conducts home site adjudications of school and community theatre productions throughout New York State. Member organizations may request one of three types of TANYS adjudications: for learning only, for evaluation of technical elements, or for the production to be considered for invitation to TANYS's annual theatre Festival. TANYS is unique among theatrical organizations in the United States for its formal training program for its adjudicators, which is modeled on the adjudicator training program of the American Association of Community Theatre.
In this work, Stephens pioneered the use of rigorous methods of literary criticism in the study of medieval Welsh literature. Stephens' 1858 eisteddfod essay Madoc: An Essay on the Discovery of America by Madoc ap Owen Gwynedd in the Twelfth Century, which demolished Welsh claims of the discovery of the Americas by Madoc, was acknowledged as the outstanding submission. However, although convincing, the essay was not awarded the prize due to the adjudicators' reluctance to discard the old claims. Disgusted, Stephens refused to compete in future eisteddfod competitions.
In 2009 he was admitted as a member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators (GoDA) and adjudicates theatre festivals both in the UK and internationally. In 2011 he was made an Associate Research Fellow for the University of Worcester and in 2012 was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. In 2016 he was made a patron of the Royal Air Force Theatrical Association along with Sir Peter Hall, Stephen Daldry and Gillian Plowman. In 2017 he was appointed as a Justice of the Peace in the Worcestershire Criminal Courts.
It is for these reasons that many of these particular programs make clear claims to authenticity, as text and voiceovers remind viewers that the cases, litigants, and outcomes are "real". Despite possessing certain real-life elements, however, arbitration-based reality court shows are less credible than "unaffected" reality court programs, which draw on footage from actual courtrooms holding legal proceedings to capture the legal system as naturally as possible (e.g., Parole, On Trial). The "judges" in arbitration-based court programs are not actual judges, but rather arbitrators or adjudicators.
NCB is the co-sponsor of the Northshore Concert Band/Northwestern University Festival of Music. Started in 1977, the festival has been held annually over a three-day period in March on the campus of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. The band’s members serve as adjudicators and clinicians for this solo, ensemble, and band festival, which has attracted over 3,500 young musicians annually. NCB has performed several educational outreach programs at area schools, many summer concerts at the invitation of various communities and venues, and professional band festivals and conferences.
An adjudicator (often referred to as a "judge", "umpire", "arbiter", or more archaically as a "daysman" ), is a person who gives a critical evaluation of performances in competitions, festivals or talent shows, resulting in the award of marks, medals or prizes. In BP debate, an adjudicator weighs arguments and decides rankings in the house. There are different types of adjudicators, each with their respective duties and levels of authority: chair, panelist, and trainee. In the event that the chair is the chief adjudicator of the tournament, they are referred to as "Speaker".
Christopher Rodonanté Cwej, usually just known as Chris Cwej, is a fictional character from the Virgin New Adventures range of spin-offs based on the BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who. His surname is properly pronounced "Shvay", but he pronounces it "Kwedge" rather than keep correcting people. His first appearance was in the 1995 novel Original Sin by Andy Lane, with his adjudicator partner Roz Forrester. Adjudicators are the police force of 30th century Earth, which was at that time divided into the Overcity and the Undercity.
Sultan Kösen (Turkey) is the tallest living person since 17 September 2009, as verified by Guinness World Records. Cracking open a wheel of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese as a part of a 2013 world record by Whole Foods Market. Fiann Paul, Alex Gregory and Carlo Facchino aboard Polar Row, the most record breaking expedition in history. A second major event, the Great Britain Championships, developed in the 1950s to meet increasing demand for Irish stepdance competitions in London and surrounds. The gradual transition of An Coimisiún from local to international governing body began in the early 1950s. With the advent of affordable air travel and improved communication links from the 1960s onward, increased contact with dancing teachers across the Irish diaspora led An Coimisiún to gradually become a global organisation. This transition included the first examinations for teachers and adjudicators to be held in the United States and Australia.
American teams experienced many of the same difficulties as solo dancers in succeeding during the early years of Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne, although in some cases, the differences were more explicitly political. A North American dance drama team which had previously met with some success was placed last in the 1986 competition. Although the official reason for the decision was the inclusion of non-Irish music in the choreography, the team's teacher alleged to American media that the adjudicators had resented the dance's commentary on the Catholic Church.
The Association publishes a quarterly magazine, MSHSAA Journal, and sponsors one of the nation's largest annual sportsmanship and student leadership events each August. In addition, MSHSAA has a number of recognition programs, including the Distinguished Service Awards program, Officials Recognition program, Scholastic Achievement Awards program, Student Advisory Committee, MSHSAA Leadership School program, Sportsmanship/Integrity/Leadership program, the 5-Star School program and Traditions reunion program. The MSHSAA trains and registers more than 5,000 sports officials and adjudicators each year to arbitrate various athletic events and evaluative music festivals.
The band's arranger, Len Sharpe was away in 1994 and 1995, but returned in 1996 and led the band to Panorama victories in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2013 and 2014. Phase II/Len Sharpe is the only team that qualified for all finals from 1981 to Present and now has 7 wins, placed second 12 times and in third place four times. At the Steelband Musical Festival, "Boogsie" has been dubbed the Mozart of Pan by foreign adjudicators, as his compositions have been able to stand alongside those of the great classical masters.
By early 1970, An Chomhdháil had created its own register of teachers and adjudicators, and in the following years quickly implemented a system of examinations similar to that of An Coimisiún. Gradually, its teachers began to establish their own feiseanna. In 1982, Cumann Rince Náisiúnta was formed by a group of 12 teachers dissatisfied with the activities of An Chomhdháil. An Chomhdháil consequently closed its platform of competitions, which had previously been open to any dancer registered with any organisation, to be open only to dancers affiliated with An Chomhdháil teachers.
Imputed bias arises when a decision-maker has a pecuniary (monetary) or proprietary (property related) interest in the decision he or she is charged to adjudicate. The courts have also extended the category of imputed bias to situations where adjudicators have personal, non- pecuniary interests in decisions. The existence of a situation leading to an imputation of bias warrants the decision-maker being automatically disqualified. Even if actual or imputed bias cannot be proved, an appearance of bias is sufficient for a judgment or decision to be set aside.
In 1991, Owain won the chair at the National Eisteddfod of Wales at Mold for a poem titled "Awdl Foliant Merch ein Hamserau" ("The Girl of Our Times"). The poem was described by one of the adjudicators as breaking new ground. In December 1996 he became the first Welsh writer to publish his poems on the web: Rhedeg ar Wydr: (trans: Running on Glass), first published in December 1997.The Welsh Academy (Welsh National Literature Promotion Agency and Society of Writers) He is the son of poet and writer Owain Owain.
The national finals of Miss Dance are organised by the IDTA and are held annually at the Winter Gardens in Blackpool. During the finals, the competitors compete in a series of dance-offs, judged by a panel of specialist adjudicators. This narrows down the number of competitors to a selection of finalists, who then perform again for the judges in the grand final and the winner of the Miss Dance title is awarded. The winner of Miss Dance of Great Britain receives a trophy and a cash prize, with trophies also being awarded for the runner-up and 3rd places.
Knaub suggested scheduling the event during the winter months when most color guards competed locally—following marching band season, but prior to the drum corps season. The name "winter guard" was suggested by Don Angelica to reflect this change, which was adopted as the name of a new governing body and championships host: Winter Guard International. A follow-up meeting at the DCI Rules Congress in October 1977 composed of a committee of representatives from thirteen color guard circuits and adjudicator associations. The committee adopted an adjudication system, which was also adopted by the adjudicators and circuits in attendance.
The Adjudicators are first introduced in Colony in Space where the Master passes himself of as one. There are hints that they will eventually evolve into the Grand Order of Oberon which features in Revelation of the Daleks. When Vaughn tells the Doctor of his activities over the past millennium, he claims to have been responsible for funding the construction of the BOSS computer (The Green Death), assisting Think Tank in its robotic research (Robot), bankrolling Professor Whitaker's time travel experiments (Invasion of the Dinosaurs), and providing the researchers that developed the glittergun (Revenge of the Cybermen).
They conduct all hearings into energy applications and regulatory appeals, in addition to helping to develop the organization's hearing procedures and rules as well as other day-to-day operations. Hearing commissioners are independent adjudicators, and their decisions may only be reviewed by the Court of Appeal of Alberta. AER chair, Gerry Protti was a former executive with Encana, the founding president of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP), and a long-time lobbyist for the Energy Policy Institute of Canada. The appointment was met with calls for his resignation as he was seen to be biased in favour of industry.
The American-Canadian ensemble Duo46 was established in 1994 at the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona by guitarist Dr. Matthew Gould and violinist Beth Ilana Schneider-Gould. Since then they have become leading advocates of new chamber music with guitar. They have commissioned and premiered over 100 works (duets/trios/double concertos) and toured on four continents. Besides concerts as a violin and guitar duo or violin, guitar and third instrument or electronics trio, they conduct masterclasses, reading sessions for student composers, coach chamber ensembles, serve as adjudicators and clinicians and give presentations on a variety of subjects.
In the case of appeals, however, disputes will enter the conventional court system, possibly reaching the Court of Appeal and UK Supreme Court, so the judiciary still have oversight over the tribunals. Parties are sometimes represented by lawyers at tribunals. Examples of tribunals include, employment tribunals, Office of Fair Trading adjudicators, the Gender Recognition Panel, the Planning Inspectorate and the Company Names Tribunal. Though it has grown up on an ad hoc basis since the beginning of the twentieth century, from 2007 reforms were put in place to build a unified system with recognised judicial authority, routes of appeal and regulatory supervision.
The headquarters of the judiciary are in the Palace of Justice in Bogotá. The judiciary of Colombia () is a branch of the State of Colombia that interprets and applies the laws of Colombia, to ensure equal justice under law, and to provide a mechanism for dispute resolution. The judiciary comprises a hierarchical system of courts presided over by judges, magistrates and other adjudicators. Colombia is a centralized state, thus there is only one jurisdiction (with the exception of special indigenous jurisdictions), which is functionally divided by subject matter into an ordinary, penal, administrative, disciplinary, constitutional and special jurisdictions (military, peace, and indigenous matters).
In the rare case where there is a tie between two nominees within the top five slots, six nominees will be allowed. Nominations are usually announced in February, after which a second round of election is held to determine the winner. Voting in the second round is open to a group of 50 professional adjudicators, Executive Committee members of the HKFA, as well as members of the thirteen professional film bodies. Each voting group holds a percentage of the ultimate score for each nominee, and each film body holds a higher share in the categories associated with it.
The Championships were judged by a single panel of three adjudicators, who awarded only three placings in each event. Over the following years, the number of judges was increased and separate panels introduced in an effort to improve the quality of adjudication. The early years of Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne saw little success from competitors outside Ireland, despite the presence of a large contingent of North American dancers. This was due to a number of factors including the overseas competitors' style of dance, which was viewed as by the Irish as outdated, and differences in competition protocol between North America and Ireland.
The system of regional and national championships serving as qualifying events was eventually expanded globally. Following complaints about the requirement that dancers qualify for the Championships, An Coimisiún decided to open the 1984 Worlds in Cork City to all dancers, with no qualification required. The subsequent massive influx of dancers necessitated the use of four separate venues in Cork over the course of 8 days, at the time the largest Irish dance event ever conducted. The large number of dancers in each section necessitated an extension to the usual three rounds of competition so that adjudicators had the opportunity to properly rank dancers.
The appointment of magistrates, judges and the Chief Justice are made by the President of Malta “in accordance with the advice of the Prime Minister.” The European Commission noted in 2003 that “Consideration could however be given to the possibility of further improving the objectivity of the appointment procedure, which, in the current situation, is controlled by political bodies”. Judges have security of tenure until the mandatory retiring age of 65, or until impeachment. The Constitution also foresees that the adjudicators' salaries are paid from the Consolidated Fund and thus the government may not diminish or amend them to their prejudice.
SSA operates its own administrative adjudication system, which has original jurisdiction when claims are denied in part or in full. SSA decisions are issued by Administrative Law Judges and Senior Attorney Adjudicators (supported by about 6,000 staff employees) at locations throughout the United States of the U.S. Office of Disability Adjudication and Review (ODAR), who hear and decide challenges to SSA decisions. Dissatisfied claimants can appeal to ODAR's Appeals Council, and if still dissatisfied can appeal to a U.S. District Court. Over the years, ODAR has developed its own procedural system, which is documented in the Hearings and Appeals Litigation Law Manual (HALLEX).
The association was founded in 1963 and was originally called the Pacific Coast Pipe Band Association. Each band must compete at their county Fleadh and then the provincial Fleadh in order to qualify for the Fleadh Cheoil. In each qualification stage the bands that place 1st and 2nd go through to the next stage. Occasionally the adjudicators recommends one of the third place competitors to go through to the next stage, if their performance was to a high enough level. In the Senior competitions the All Ireland winners from the previous year automatically qualify for the next years All Ireland and so they do not have to compete at their county or provincial Fleadh.
Another change for the 1982 festival was the final stage's departure from the Kenya National Theatre. The location would instead circulate to different regions (previously provinces) each year (with the exception of North Eastern Region because of its hostile weather and bandit-prone roads). This promoted theatre even in areas where drama was not well-known. During the 1982 festival in Western Kenya, away from the capital, adjudicators defied the government by not only including a banned political play – Makwekwe written by Tim Wandiri and performed by Kapsabet Girls' High School – in a gala performance but judging it the winner.
COA's first AMP Invitational took place on April 29-30, 2011. Workshop presenters included Broadway producer Ken Davenport, motivational speaker Norm Hull, David Sears (senior director of education at the GRAMMY Foundation) and Terry Knowles (president and CEO of the Los Angeles Master Chorale). The event culminated in a massed choir benefit concert with master conductor Eric Whitacre leading over 630 high school singers from three different states in a program that raised over $3,600.00 for L.A.'s Harmony Project.

The Jedi () are the main protagonists of many works in the fictional Star Wars universe, often alongside the Galactic Republic and the Rebel Alliance. The Jedi Order are depicted as an asceticism monastic, academic, meritocratic and quasi-militaristic organization whose origin dates back approximately 25,000 years before the events of the first film released in the franchise. Jedi were powerful Force-wielders and adjudicators tasked by the Galactic Republic to be the guardians of peace and order in the Star Wars galaxy; they defend and protect all sapient life, never attack. The Order consisted of polymaths: teachers, philosophers, scientists, engineers, physicians, diplomats, negotiators, warriors, and peacekeepers.
In almost all States, having employees without either being authorized to self-insure or carrying workers' compensation insurance is a serious crime, punishable by fines and imprisonment. Insurance policies are available to employers through commercial insurance companies: if the employer is deemed an excessive risk to insure at market rates, it can obtain coverage through an assigned-risk program. In many states, there are public uninsured employer funds to pay benefits to workers employed by companies who illegally fail to purchase insurance. Various organizations focus resources on providing education and guidance to workers' compensation administrators and adjudicators in various state and national workers' compensation systems.
Over the years, many internationally renowned adjudicators have presided at the Festival, most notably Sir Arnold Bax, the famed English composer and poet who is now buried at St Finbarr's Cemetery. Records from 1976, the Festival's 50th anniversary, indicate that there was in the region of 8,000 participants. From here, Feis Maitiú Corcaigh continued to flourish, with almost 12,000 performers registering in 1985. By now, the Festival had been extended to six weeks, and classes in a range of disciplines, including those that were instrumental, had been established. In 1994, Br Paul stepped down as head of the Feis after an unprecedented 25 years in office.
In June 2008, the Anglo-Chinese Junior College Choir emerged as the only choir with three Gold medals at the 3rd Festa Choralis International Choir Competition in Bratislava, Slovakia. As the only Asian choir at the competition, the ACJC Choir competed in the Mixed Choir (Adult), Youth Choir (up to 19 years old) and Folk Song Categories. In all three categories, the ACJC Choir won gold medals with top marks and was the only choir in the competition whom the adjudicators accorded a perfect score of 100 points. The ACS (Independent) Choir is part of the Singapore Choral Excellence Scheme, and toured Perth in 2004.

He won the prize at the eisteddfod in Denbigh in 1819 for an awdl called "Elusengarwch", the adjudication being by William Owen Pughe, Robert Davies (Bardd Nantglyn) and David Richards (Dewi Silyn), although the result was controversial as many others favoured David Owen (Dewi Wyn o Eifion). Hughes won a prize offered by the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion in 1822 for a cywydd called "Hu Gadarn" and again won prizes in the Denbigh eisteddfod of 1828, when John Blackwell (Alun) was among the adjudicators. His poems were published in various contemporary collections. He died in Bodfari on 11 February 1850, and was buried on 15 February 1850.
It is not uncommon for hard shoe dancers to use their arms in strict hand formations other than arms at sides. In 1929, the League formed An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha (CLRG, The Irish Dancing Commission) in order to codify and standardise stepdancing competition and education. Over the following decades, CLRG expanded globally, and promoted this particular form of stepdance by developing examinations and qualifications for teachers and competition adjudicators. Today, stepdance in the style codified by the Gaelic League is performed competitively in a number of countries, and under the auspices of a number of organisations which have at various times broken away from CLRG.
After playing solo trombone with the Stanshawe (Bristol) and Fairey Engineering bands with whom he also held the post of principal trombone with Harry Mortimer's Men o' Brass, he became principal trombone with the Black Dyke Mills Band. Since 1979 he has been a music tutor for the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and is a Council member of the same organisation. Maines is a member of the National Association of Brass Band Adjudicators and regularly adjudicates both at home and abroad.

The Festival takes place across a week, so often there are between 15 and 18 different theatre companies performing a play on stage during the week of the Festival. Festival rules state that plays must be more than 20 minutes and no more than 55 minutes long to be performed at the Festival and there must be more than one speaking part in any play. A professional adjudicator from the Guild of Drama Adjudicators sits in the audience and judges each play on its merits. The Adjudicator takes to the stage at the end of the session and comments on each play, the acting, its staging, costumes, lighting and set.
Bird next decided that he would try to row the Pacific solo. He set off from San Francisco on 23 August 1982 having already failed in one earlier attempt in 1981. 294 days later and within a quarter of a mile of the Great Barrier Reef Bird was rescued by the Australian Navy.Documentary film – The Longest Row However, because of how close he was to land when he received the tow (26 nautical miles) he is widely accepted as the first person to complete the solo, non-stop row across the Pacific from east to west by both the adjudicators for the sport, The Ocean Rowing Society and Guinness World Records.

Known in Canada as simply "tribunals", these are quasi-judicial adjudicative bodies, which means that they adjudicate (hear evidence and render decisions) like courts, but are not necessarily presided over by judges. Instead, the adjudicators may be experts of the very specific legal field handled by the tribunal (e.g., labour law, human rights law, immigration law, energy law, workers' compensation law, liquor licensing law, etc.) who hear arguments and evidence provided by lawyers (also lay advocates in British Columbia or Licensed Paralegals in Ontario) before making a written decision on record. Depending on its enabling legislation, a tribunal's decisions may be reviewed by a court through an appeal or a process called judicial review.
Comhdháil na Múinteoirí le Rincí Gaelacha (English: The Congress of Irish Dance Teachers), also referred to as An Chomhdháil (the Congress), is a global governing body for Irish stepdance. Founded in the early 1960s, and then breaking from An Coimisiún Le Rincí Gaelacha to become an independent organisation, An Chomhdháil is today the second-largest Irish dance organisation and one of six to run a World Championships competition. An Chomhdháil operates a system of examinations for the registration of teachers and adjudicators, and regulates Irish stepdance at its hierarchical system of competitions held across the world. It emphasises a democratic approach to this governance and represents the interests of Irish dancing teachers in its decision making processes.
From 2002 to 2005, CMG participated in over 75 transactions for a par of over $68 billion in equity and debt transactions, which included Google and The Travelers Companies. In December 2006, the National Association of Securities Dealers (later renamed to Financial Industry Regulatory Authority) expelled CMG and Baldwin, preventing the company from continuing its trade activities. The expulsion and bar were overturned by FINRA adjudicators in a January 2009 decision in which they cited "contradictory" statements by the regulators. Baldwin and CMG were given a $25,000 fine and two-year suspension for not fully responding in which he did not submit a deposit ticket for a wire and a bank statement for a brokerage account.
Witches in Pratchett's universe are largely stripped of their modern occultist associations (though Pratchett does frequently use his stories to lampoon such conceptions of witchcraft), and act as herbalists, adjudicators and wise women. That is not to say that witches on the Disc cannot use magic; they simply prefer not to, finding simple but cunningly applied psychology (often referred to as "headology", or sometimes "boffo") far more effective. The principal witch in the series is Granny Weatherwax, who at first glance seems to be a taciturn, bitter old crone, from the small mountain country of Lancre. She largely despises people but takes on the role of their healer and protector because no one else can do the job as well as she can.
The QDU is a highly active club on the Queen's University campus and the wider Kingston community, participating in monthly show debates and providing two weekly meetings that are open to all interested students on campus. The Debating Union is responsible for organizing many debate-related events on campus, including a highly publicized twentieth anniversary recreation of the famous 1988 Mulroney-Turner debate, and a public debate about surveillance of urban areas that was hosted with the local Agnes Etherington Art Centre. The Debating Union also provides adjudicators each year to the highly prestigious Queen's Intercollegiate Business Competition. The club has strong ties with Alumni organizations like the Toronto Over 50 Group and publishes an annual newsletter for Alumni readers called 'The Mace'.
At the other end, copyright would be denied to pictures which appealed to a public less educated than the judge. This observation was an embodiment of the principle of artistic or aesthetic neutrality which seeks to eliminate the inherent subjectivity involved in the judges deciding whether the work is artistic, and hence, the question as to whether it warrants protection. The principle finds four broad justifications- (i) lack of expertise in the judges (ii) fear of elitism (iii) fear of paternalism (also called parentalism) (iv) lack of consensus on what constitutes art. However, scholars note that the principle of aesthetic neutrality is often violated as the adjudicators end up favouring creators of what they believe is deserving of copyright grant.
The 4th International Young Chef Olympiad 2018, supported by Ministry of Tourism (India), Government of India, organized by International Institute of Hotel Management was launched on 9 November 2017 at The Hilton Double Tree Hotel in London. Roslyn Sarah Inyathi Forrester, usually just known as Roz Forrester, is a fictional character from the Virgin New Adventures range of spin-offs based on the BBC science fiction television series Doctor Who. Her first appearance was in the novel Original Sin by Andy Lane, with her adjudicator partner Chris Cwej. Adjudicators are the police force of 30th century Earth (which was at that time divided into the Overcity and the Undercity) and its extended empire (in the serial Colony in Space The Master posed as an Adjudicator). Roz was born in 2935 to a rich family on Jupiter's moon Io and was of pure African Xhosa stock (according to family legend the Forresters are descended from Nelson Mandela, but this is not the case).
Would-be record breakers that paid fees ranging from US$12,000 to US$500,000 would be given advisors, adjudicators, help in finding good records to break as well as suggestions for how to do it, prompt service, and so on. In particular, corporations and celebrities seeking a publicity stunt to launch a new product or draw attention to themselves began to hire Guinness World Records, paying them for finding a record to break or to create a new category just for them. Guinness World Records was criticised by television talk show host John Oliver on the program Last Week Tonight with John Oliver in August 2019. While Oliver lightly mocked the corporate publicity side of Guinness's revenue model, such as General Mills, Inc.
The Queensland Catholic Schools' & Colleges' Music Festival has had an exciting history since its creation in 1991. At that time a number of staff from Villanova College, Coorparoo, who had developed their own school's comprehensive instrumental music programme, were lamenting the lack of opportunities for ensembles from Catholic schools. Opportunities for Catholic schools to perform, to come together, to listen to one another and to get good positive feedback from professional adjudicators were few indeed. Armed with these goals and good doses of enthusiasm and perseverance the QCMF was born. The past 22 years of history has seen this festival grow from a humble start in 1991 with 12 local Catholic schools, gathering together to recognize great achievements in Catholic Music Education.
The second was an administrative and/or academic context, in which books of penitential law typically served bishops in their roles as administrators of local dioceses, adjudicators at judicial synods and students of moral philosophy and canon law. Naturally, the penitential required by a bishop was much different than that required by the confessor-priest, and it is largely within this episcopal context that the penitentials evolved from mere manuals into vast collections of penitential, disciplinary and administrative law. By the ninth century, chapters from penitential manuals had entered many of the influential canon law collections then being copied and compiled on the Continent. Since at least the fifth and sixth centuries, canon law collections could boast of being repositories of the ancient and authoritative conciliar and papal judgements of the Christian church.
In other words, a tribunal adjudicator could legally make a decision that differs from a past decision, on the same subject and issues, delivered by the highest court in the land. Because a tribunal is not bound by legal precedent, established by itself or by a reviewing court, a tribunal is not a court even though it performs an important adjudicative function and contributes to the development of law like a court would do. Although ' does not apply to tribunals, their adjudicators will likely nonetheless find a prior court decision on a similar subject to be highly persuasive and will likely follow the courts in order to ensure consistency in the law and to prevent the embarrassment of having their decisions overturned by the courts. The same is true for past decisions of the tribunal.
The Hong Kong Film Awards are open to all Hong Kong films which are longer than an hour and commercially released in Hong Kong within the previous calendar year. A film qualifies as a Hong Kong film if it satisfies two of the three criteria, namely: the film director is a Hong Kong resident, at least one film company is registered in Hong Kong, and at least six persons of the production crew are Hong Kong residents. Since 2002, the HKFA also feature a Best Asian Film category, which accepts non-Hong Kong films which are commercially released in Hong Kong. In January each year, a first round of election, open to all registered voters and a selected group of 100 professional adjudicators, is held to determine the five nominees for each award category.
These meant that less claims were issued - previously, claims had simply been issued as a matter of course as part of the negotiation process. The proliferation of adjudication following its introduction in the Construction Act 1996 also led to fewer disputes going before the court, but did give the court a new role in enforcing adjudication decisions. The Construction Act gives parties to a "construction contract" a right to refer matters to adjudicators, with the aim of aiding cash flow in the construction sector by allowing disputes to be settled without the need for lengthy and costly court proceedings. Changes to the Construction Act 1996 brought in by the Local Democracy, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009 are likely to see even more disputes referred to adjudication before reaching the TCC.
The Contest is limited to a solo performance of classical music and has three fields: piano, strings (violin, cello, harp) and winds and percussions (except for block flute). The Nutcracker winner represents Russia at the Eurovision Young Musicians Competition, as "Russia K" channel is a member of the EBU. The outstanding musicians of modern age (Galina Vishnevskaya, Vladimir Spivakov, Vladimir Kraynev, Yuri Bashmet, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Alexander Rudin, Denis Matsuyev, Dmitri Khvorostovsky, Nikolay Petrov, Ignat Solzhenitsyn) support the contest, working as adjudicators and providing special prizes and grants. Gifted children from all over the world have an opportunity not only to show themselves as serious musicians but also to get acquainted, to change their experiences and to perform on the same stage with world-class musicians - the final round of the contest is accompanied by the best Russian orchestras.
The M21-1 Adjudication Procedures Manual does not constitute law, in contrast to statutes, federal regulations, and federal case law. The Department of Veterans Affairs has stated, “[t]he M21-1 is an internal manual used to convey guidance to VA adjudicators. It is not intended to establish substantive rules beyond those contained in statute and regulation.”VA Adjudications Manual, M21–1; Rescission of Manual M21–1 Provisions Related To Exposure to Herbicides Based on Receipt of the Vietnam Service Medal, 72 Fed. Lawyer Faisal Kutty argued that the IRB and the court appear to have danced around the politically sensitive issues and existing case law. Their arguments that they did not want to participate in an illegal war and that they would be punished for acting on their conscience was rejected by the IRB. The adjudicators held that they were not conscientious objectors (because they were not opposed to wars in general); the U.S. was willing and able to protect them; and that their treatment would not amount to persecution. Paragraph 171 of UN Handbook on Procedures and Criteria for Determining Convention Refugee Status provides that where the type of military action with which an individual does not wish to be associated is condemned by the international legal community as contrary to rules of human conduct, punishment for desertion could be regarded as persecution.
However, Michael Flatley, who became the first North American winner of the World Championships in 1975, recalled that his attempt to win at Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne focused on adopting a more rigid and conservative dance style that would be accepted by Irish adjudicators. Flatley had competed at Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne for the first time the year prior, and had placed fourth. The difficulty of competing successfully in Ireland was known to North American dancers as the "Emerald Barrier", and contributed to the development of an extensive system of competitions and championships on the North American continent. In 1971, the Irish Dancing Teachers' Association of North America chartered a Boeing 747 in an attempt to increase the number of North American competitors. In 1972, two entire Boeing 707s from Aer Lingus were booked to transport the North American contingent.
Conor Hayes became the first Australian to win a World Championship as late as 1996, and the inferiority of overseas competitors in the perception of adjudicators and Irish participants persisted into the early 21st century. Even within Ireland, the Worlds were initially dominated by dance schools from Ulster, whose style had become well-known via television broadcasts in the late 1969s. However, following the commencement of the Troubles in Northern Ireland in 1969, the competitive Irish dancing structure in the region rapidly disintegrated, and with it, the success of Ulster dancers. From 1975 onwards, the national championships of Australia, North America, Ireland and Great Britain, which had until that point served as qualifying events for the Worlds, were supplemented by regional championships in each country – North America, for instance, was divided into seven regions, to increase the number of world qualifiers.
In addition to the hassetsu, the archer must also perform an elaborate entering procedure whereby the archer will join up to four other archers to enter the dōjō, bow to the adjudicators, step up to the back line known as the honza and then kneel in a form of sitting known as kiza. The archers then bow to the mato in unison, stand, and take three steps forward to the shai line (shooting line), and kneel again. The archers then move in lock-step fashion through the hassetsu, each archer standing and shooting one after another at the respective targets, kneeling between each shot, until they have exhausted their supply of arrows (generally four). In Japanese kyūdō competitions, an archer shoots four arrows in two sets, placing one pair of arrows at his feet and retaining the second pair at the ready.
By 1943, a standard system of certification had been introduced in order to organise the training of new teachers and adjudicators. In 1969, a group of Irish dance teachers, frustrated with what they perceived to be a lack of influence in the growing organisation, broke from CLRG and formed Comhdháil na Múinteoirí le Rincí Gaelacha (The Congress of Irish Dance Teachers) to compete with CLRG. These two organisations remain the most significant in Irish dancing, although CLRG is considerably larger and more highly gloablised. One enduring legacy of "the Split" is that CLRG competitions are open only to dancers from CLRG, and CLRG registered dancers are forbidden from competing with other "open- platform" organisations. (An Chomhdháil was originally open-platform, but later became closed after a breakaway from its own ranks.) Following the Split, CLRG decided to host Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne (the World Championships) for the first time in 1970.
Among the developments were a "hardening" of Ace, with a story arc that had her leave the Doctor for three years (from her perspective) and returning as an older and more cynical character, more morally ambiguous endings and the introduction of new companions, such as Bernice and the Adjudicators Chris Cwej and Roz Forrester. Bernice, in particular, proved so popular that in addition to appearing in her own novels, she has gone on to star in her own audio plays as well. The novels were guided by the so-called Cartmel Masterplan, which was the backstory that Doctor Who story editor Andrew Cartmel had constructed for the television series when it was cancelled and never brought to fruition. Hints were therefore dropped about the "true" nature of the Seventh Doctor, which culminated in the penultimate novel in the Virgin series, Lungbarrow, written by Marc Platt.
During any speech except the reply speeches, and not during the first and last minutes of the first six speeches, members of the opposing team may offer points of information to briefly interject a point that the speaker must immediately respond to. The speaker holding the Floor is not obliged to accept all the points of information offered to them, but is likely to be marked down by adjudicators if they do not accept any. Speakers delivering points of information are expected to keep them to 15 seconds or less. Although a speaker's points of information do not have a direct effect on their mark, a mechanism named the "POI Adjuster" has been introduced in recent years: when the quality of a speaker's POIs is significantly different (better or worse) from the quality of their speech, the judge may add or subtract one or two marks from their overall speaker score.
Rosanda Mok was born in 1972 and graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a master's degree in Sociology. She joined the Hong Kong Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood (ADPL), a local-based pro-grassroots pro-democratic party and was first elected to the Kowloon City District Council through Ma Tau Wai in the 1999 District Council election and re-elected for three times until she was unseated by the pro-Beijing Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong (DAB) newcomer Terence Siu Tin-hung in the 2015 election with a narrow margin of 45 votes. She has also hold public positions including the Buildings Appeal Tribunal Panel, the Gas Safety Appeal Board Panel, and the Obscene and Indecent Articles Panel of Adjudicators. On 23 January 2016, Mok was elected the first female chair of the ADPL, succeeding veteran Bruce Liu.
Barbara's dramatic and dancing skills, she was possessed of a wicked sense of humour and great practical-joker were honed via her love of Highland and Scottish Highland dancing, winning several medals and awards from childhood. The entire Kinghorn family were avid supporters of the Johannesburg Caledonian Society (at its it was the largest Caledonian Society outside of Scotland;regularly frequented by visiting Scottish dancing adjudicators) and were the doyens of the Society. Barbara's book "Miss McKirdy's Daughters will now Dance the Highland Fling" provides her account of a Scottish dancing career, the Kinghorn family's own performing-arts endeavours and her insights into the competitive rivalries between various Scottish dancing studios in the greater Johannesburg. In 1995 Black Swan published Barbara's autobiography entitled "Miss McKirdy's Daughters will now Dance the Highland Fling" which received excellent notices and it was also printed by St. Martin's Press New York.

The event divided the country into various zones, with 2 teams from each zone qualifying for a National Final. The competition was sponsored at different times by Little Ship (later British) Paints and Dunhill/Rothmans, and was encouraged by HRH Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, who attended some of the National Finals. After the event lost its sponsorship in 1982 it ceased for a time, and there was some decline in club interest in team racing in the UK, though not in universities, where it continued to be strong - nor at West Kirby, where the Wilson Trophy continued with unabated enthusiasm. On-the-water umpiring for team racing was pioneered by West Kirby at the 1987 Wilson Trophy, with the first 'On The Water Adjudicators' being Tony Cross, Ian Berry and Peter Price (West Kirby), Mike Bailey and John Anstey (Wembley), and Brian Heron (Hollingworth Lake).

The Fifth Doctor, Tegan, Adric and Nyssa arrive on an unnamed ice planet (which goes unnamed throughout the novel), which has settlements at the equator and not anywhere else. The planet is run by the Scientifica, a technocratic society allied with the Earth Empire, but there is a more than usual presence of Adjudicators on the planet. Tegan and Nyssa get a hotel room where they run into a man who claims to be "Bruce Jovanka" with a bad Australian accent, while the Doctor and Adric enter the Scientifica's complex and encounter three very diverse characters: Whitfield, the woman who runs the Scientifica; Tertullian Medford, the primary Adjudicator on the planet; and a badly decaying woman who the Doctor subsequently learns is Gallifreyan when she regenerates and nicknames "Patience" (she was previously known as only the Patient). When the Doctor and Adric are ambushed by a beautiful black woman on the skitrain tracks, then arrested for being alien spies, Tegan and Nyssa run into their own troubles with the husky blond "Bruce".
As used by the World Justice Project, a non-profit organization committed to advancing the rule of law around the world, the rule of law refers to a rules-based system in which the following four universal principles are upheld:About the WJP. > # The government and its officials and agents are accountable under the law; > # The laws are clear, publicized, stable, fair, and protect fundamental > rights, including the security of persons and property; # The process by > which the laws are enacted, administered, and enforced is accessible, fair, > and efficient; # Access to justice is provided by competent, independent, > and ethical adjudicators, attorneys or representatives, and judicial > officers who are of sufficient number, have adequate resources, and reflect > the makeup of the communities they serve. The World Justice Project has developed an Index to measure the extent to which countries adhere to the rule of law in practice. The WJP Rule of Law Index is composed of 9 factors and 52 sub-factors, and covers a variety of dimensions of the rule of law – such as whether government officials are accountable under the law, and whether legal institutions protect fundamental rights and allow ordinary people access to justice.
