Some of my favorite Superstore jokes are blink-and-you'll-miss-them interstitial moments between scenes, which show tiny vignettes from around the store, like a customer taking a nap on a display sofa or quietly wreaking havoc in the makeup aisle.

There were a few monthly club nights for queer women scattered here and there (Lemon Juice at The Haggerston, Girlcore at Catch, Club Jolene at Visions, Unskinny Bop at the Star of Bethnal Green, Clam Jam at Dalston Superstore) but for the most part, they felt like an afterthought; a novelty themed night in a space not usually centred on female-identifying people.

And if that's not enough, Superstore also has created a kind of mirror image of Jonah and Amy in the relationship between the bluntly self-assured Dina (Lauren Ash) and the bluntly sarcastic Garrett (Colton Dunn), two people who hook up every so often, then pretend like it never happened, then start flirting again a few episodes or seasons later, even as they know it's a terrible idea.

Superstore combines the structure and themes of a workplace comedy with the meandering vibe of a hangout sitcom, and also happens to boast one of the most diverse casts on network TV. It's easy to get sucked into Superstore's relaxed charm, thanks to the strong cast (especially America Ferrera as pragmatic Amy and Mark McKinney as bleeding heart Glenn) and the constant stream of surrealist sight gags, mostly involving the weirdos who make up Cloud 9's customer base.
