The new residence of the Austrian ambassador and chancery of the building had been built between 1814 and 1825 by architect George Basevi according to a development plan for Belgrave Square by Thomas Cubitt and Joseph Cundry.

Lead documents in the management of the Maunakea lands are the Mauna Kea Science Reserve Master Plan (June 2000) and the Mauna Kea Comprehensive Management Plan (2009 and 2010). The Master Plan explicitly recognizes CFHT as one of the summit sites that will be redeveloped, while the Comprehensive Management Plan prescribes the development and approval process. Although planned changes for MSE are of smaller impact than those categorized as “redevelopment” in the Master Plan and the state's Administrative Rules, MSE is subject to the approval processes that is defined in these documents and managed by Hawai‘i's Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR). CFHT occupies the a site on Maunakea under a sublease to General Lease S-4191 between the State of Hawai‘i and the University of Hawai‘i (UH).

For example, "You have no right to sell, transfer, assign, sublease, or encumber the equipment or this agreement" protects the Lessor’s collateral and credit underwriting guidelines in the event the lessee ever wants to transfer the lease to another party. However, it is possible to assign the lease, but the new party (assignee) will be subject to the lessor’s credit evaluation process and approval. Even if the assignee is approved, the existing lessee’s (assignor’s) personal guarantee(s), if any, might not be released unless the assignee’s credit stature is extremely strong.

For several years after the Museo ng Maynila closed, the Manila Army and Navy Club building was left in a state of disrepair. In 2014, the City of Manila, with the approval of the NHCP entered into a lease agreement with Oceanville Hotel and Spa Corporation for the renovation and use of the building as a five-star hotel. Oceanville then entered into memorandum of agreement with Vanderwood Management Corporation for the sublease of a portion of the building for 20 years for use as a gaming facility, which it then subleased to the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) for 15 years. The redevelopment of the building started in 2014 with Palafox Associates and AMH Philippines being tapped for the design and structural assessment of the building, respectively.

In September 1999, the Isle of Wight Council agreed to grant Planet Ice an 125 year lease for Ryde Arena in exchange for £600,000, with the obligation to run the property as an ice rink for fifteen years and to carry out £800,000 of improvements. Planet Ice took over operation of Ryde Arena in February 2001, renaming it Planet Ice Isle of Wight. During 2011–2013, Planet Ice went into administration, resulting in the Ryde Arena leasehold changing hands several times and a sublease for the building being created. On 1 December 2014, the Ryde Arena lease was sold for £1,000,000 to AEW UK. In February 2015, Planet Ice informed the 40-person staff that the venue would be closing on 25 March 2015, as it was operating at a loss (later reported to be a £160,000 annual loss).

The opening in 1851 of Hampstead Road railway station on the L&BR; prompted William Lund in 1852 to agree a 99-year construction sublease on the former Forsyth estate.

Regarding plans for the U.S. broadcast market, the editor-in-chief of Sputnik U.S. said in a June 2017 interview that there were no immediate plans for expansion into markets beyond Washington, D.C.(replaced discontinued dcist.com link) This came on the heels of a late June 2017 announcement that Radio Sputnik would sublease Reston, Virginia-licensed translator station W288BS (105.5 FM) from Reston Translator, LLC, which transmits from the WIAD tower in Bethesda, Maryland, and begin broadcasting Sputnik on that signal; the station's reach includes DC proper and the western suburbs in Northern Virginia. From November 2017, Radio Sputnik began to be carried on AM in Washington, D.C., on WZHF 1390 AM. The American owners of the stations were required to register as a foreign agent by the United States Department of Justice. Sputnik is blocked from owning an American radio station outright due to Federal Communications Commission rules against foreign ownership of broadcast assets, as enacted in the Communications Act of 1934.

The commission refused to process the complaint because of the charter amendment.
