In 2002, Marvel released The Thing: Freakshow, a four-issue miniseries written by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Scott Kolins, in which the Thing travels across the United States by train, inadvertently stumbling on a deformed gypsy boy he once ridiculed as a teenager, who is now the super- strong main attraction of a troupe of traveling circus freaks. He later discovers a town full of alien Kree and Skrull warriors fighting over a Watcher infant. In 2003, Marvel released a four-issue miniseries written by Evan Dorkin and illustrated by Dean Haspiel, The Thing: Night Falls on Yancy Street. The story was more character-driven than the stories that usually feature the Thing.

Britain condemns Jewish terrorism during the war On 1 February 1944, the Irgun declared a revolt against British rule, declaring that "there is no longer any armistice between the Jewish people and the British Administration in Eretz Israel which hands our brothers over to Hitler", and demanding the immediate transfer of power to a provisional Jewish government. On February 12, the Irgun bombed the immigration offices in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and Haifa. Early in the morning, the witcher is awakened by the need to urinate, and walks to the courtyard, stumbling on an attempted coup. Philippa Eilhart, a sorceress in Redania's court, and Dijkstra have organized the coup, ambushing and binding several mages (including Vilgefortz), who they intend to bring before the conclave and accuse of conspiring with Nilfgaard; Emperor Emhyr wants the Chapter of Mages broken apart, since their participation at the Battle of Sodden Hill during the previous war led to the Empire's defeat. Unfortunately, Tissaia, the most senior mage, is furious that Phillippa and her other mages have abandoned their role as neutral advisors and peacemakers, instead aiding the Northern Kingdoms in fomenting war. Yennefer, also in attendance, has brought Ciri, who lapses into a clairvoyant trance and reveals that the war has already begun: the King of Redania was assassinated the night before, and the King of Aedirn has preemptively launched his attack on Nilfgaard.

His final fight of 2014 came on 25 October at the Echo Arena, Liverpool, against Tom Stalker, friend of Catterall's previous opponent, Nathan Brough. Stalker, a 2012 Olympian and also unbeaten with a record of 9–0, had pulled out of a British light-welterweight title eliminator against Chris Jenkins in favour of facing Catterall. Catterall dropped Stalker in the first and second rounds. With 12 seconds remaining in the eighth-round, referee Mark Lyons waved off the fight after a left hook from Catterall sent Stalker stumbling on unsteady legs, giving Catterall the TKO win and the WBO European light-welterweight title. On 6 March 2015, Catterall fought Cesar David Inalef (18–5–1) for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental light-welterweight title at the Echo Arena in Liverpool. After a controlled performance, in which Catterall had Inalef down in the second-round from a body shot and knocked the Argentines mouthpiece out on three occasions, Catterall scored a fifth-round TKO with 1 minute and 3 seconds remaining.
