In contrast to within-flower interference, geitonogamy necessarily involves the same processes as outcrossing: pollinator attraction, reward provisioning, and pollen removal. Therefore, between-flower interference not only carries the cost of self-fertilization (inbreeding depression), but also reduces the amount of pollen available for export (so-called "pollen discounting"). Because pollen discounting diminishes outcross siring success, interference avoidance may be an important evolutionary force in floral biology. Dichogamy may reduce between-flower interference by reducing or eliminating the temporal overlap between stigma and anthers within an inflorescence.

The rate of such reactions/experiments is not determined by the concentration of the solution, but rather the mass transfer of the substrate in the solution to the electrode surface. Rates will increase when the volume of the solution is decreased, the solution is stirred more rapidly, or the area of the working electrode is increased. Exceptionally modern for the times, after siring 3 sons he sired only daughters thereafter and insisted on formal education for all of them. He not only put them through school but trained them in music, arts and European languages such as French and German. It was another mark of his forward looking mentality that he actively sought out eligible grooms from different provinces of India for his daughters and married them off in places as far away as UP and Assam. A staunch modernist, he instituted various financial trusts for the womenfolk of Tagore family (especially his sisters) and was responsible for settling the Shantiniketan estate near Bolpur which later evolved into Visva Bharati.

NY Times article on War Emblem (4-28-08) The grounds also house a racing museum and tourist park called the Northern Horse Park and the Northern Farm Kuko, a large horse- training and conditioning facility. The most expensive acquisition was War Emblem, which was bought for US$17 million in 2002 to replace Sunday Silence, which died suddenly that year of a heart attack (and whose offspring are most notable among the stable's horses today). War Emblem was a reluctant breeder, siring only 106 registered foals between 2004 and 2011. The obvious-ovulation (or paternity confidence) hypothesis of sexual swellings was first suggested by Hamilton in 1984. The hypothesis proposes that exaggerated swellings indicate the timing of ovulation and as a result increase paternal certainty, allowing males to assess if they have been successful in siring that female's offspring. This has benefits for the female and her offspring, as paternal certainty has been frequently associated with the level of paternal care and investment. The obvious-ovulation hypothesis therefore suggests that sexual swellings function as an indicator of ovulation to males who can then be assured of the offspring's paternity, in order to encourage the male to invest preferentially in that female's offspring.
One hypothesis regarding the evolution of male parental care in non-monogamous species suggests that parental behaviour is correlated with increased siring of offspring. For instance, in mountain gorillas (Gorilla beringei), males of the upper tertile, regarding their frequency of interaction with young gorillas, regardless of the young's parentage, fathered five times more offspring than males of the lower-two affiliative tertiles. Further, male burying beetles (Nicrophorus vespilloides) attracted three times more females when given the opportunity to breed and provide parental care, compared to males that were not presented with a breeding opportunity. Species such as Gorilla beringei and Nicrophorus vespilloides indicate that selection may promote male parental care in non-monogamous species.
In the autumn of 1977, following his win at York, Relkino was syndicated at £8,000 a share, giving him a theoretical value of £320,000. He began his stud career in 1978 at the Barton Stud at Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and was later based at Chris Sweetings' Conduit Stud near Chipping Norton in Oxfordshire. He had limited success as a sire of flat racers, with the best of his offspring being the Scottish Derby winner Dazari. He was more successful as a National Hunt stallion, siring Relkeel a three-time of the Bula Hurdle who was described by David Nicholson as "the best horse I ever trained", as well as Arctic Kinsman (Supreme Novices' Hurdle) and Buckhouse Boy (Rendlesham Hurdle).
Despite having married Octavia, Octavian's sister, in 40 BC (Octavian had married Antony's stepdaughter Clodia Pulchra three years earlier), Antony openly lived in Alexandria with Cleopatra VII of Egypt, even siring children with her. When the Triumvirate's second term expired in 33 BC, Antony continued to use the title Triumvir; Octavian, opting to distance himself from Antony, refrained from using it. After Antony's defeat in Parthia, Cleopatra had come to his aid with supplies; Antony then turned his attention to Armenia, seizing its king Artavasdes and occupying the country. He minted coins to commemorate the victory, created a mimic of a Roman triumph, and read out a declaration, known as the Donations of Alexandria in which he granted territories to Cleopatra's children.
The metal stamper first struck from the metal-coated glass is the metal master (and we shouldn't make a master from another master as that would not follow the nomenclature of the sequence of siring that is germane to electroforming) This is clearly a method opposite to normal electroplating. Another difference to electroplating is that the internal stress of the nickel must be controlled carefully, or the nickel stamper will not be flat. The solution cleanliness is important but is achieved by continuous filtration and usual anode bagging systems. Another large difference is that the stamper thickness must be controlled to ±2% of the final thickness so that it will fit on the injection moulding machines with very high tolerances of gassing rings and centre clamps.
Lady Carla was a bay mare with a white star, bred by the Meon Valley Stud in Hampshire, England. Her sire, Caerleon, won the Prix du Jockey Club and the Benson & Hedges Gold Cup in 1983 and went on to become an "excellent" stallion, siring the winners of more than 700 races including Generous, Cape Verdi, Marienbard and Warrsan. In the Nibelungenlied and its dependent poems the Klage and Biterolf, the father of Gunther, Gernot, Giselher, and Kriemhild is named Dankrat and their mother is named Uote. Hagen is their kinsman (exact relationship not given), and has a brother named Dancwart whose personality is bright and cheerful in contrast to Hagen's. Hagen also has a sister's son named Ortwin of Metz. These family relationships might seem to prohibit any elvish siring, but in the cognate story of Brân the Blessed in the second branch of the Mabinogion, Hagen's counterpart Efnisien had a brother named Nisien who was similarly his opposite and Efnisien and Nisien are maternal half-brothers to Brân and Manawyddan just as in the Þiðrekssaga, Hǫgni was maternal brother to Gunnar and Gernoz.

He later became a very successful breeding stallion who showed a particular aptitude for siring racemares: the best of his offspring included Personal Ensign, East of the Moon and Inside Information.
The large number of studies indicating overcompensation in plants following herbivory, especially after apical meristem damage, has led some authors to suggest that there may be meristem relationships between plants and herbivores (Belsky 1986; Agrawal 2000; Edwards 2009). If herbivores provide some benefit for the plant despite causing damage, the plant may evolve tolerance to minimize the damage imposed by the herbivore to shift the relationship more towards mutualism (Edwards 2009). Such benefits include the release from apical dominance, inducing resistance traits to temporally separate herbivores, providing information of future attacks and pollination (Agrawal 2000). Ipomopsis aggregata One of the best examples occurs in Ipomopsis aggregata where there is increased seed production and seed siring in damaged plants compared to undamaged plants (Figure 4; Edwards 2009).
Cherry Hinton was a "big, rangy and most attractive" bay mare with a small white star bred in Kentucky by her owner Ralph "Budgie" Moller. She was from the fourth crop of foals sired by Nijinsky, the Canadian-bred winner of the 1970 English Triple Crown, before going on to become an important breeding stallion, siring horses such as Ferdinand, Lammtarra, Caerleon, Sky Classic and Shahrastani. Cherry Hinton was the fourth foal, and third winner produced by her dam Popkins, a high-class racemare (rated 120 by Timeform) who won the Sun Chariot Stakes and the Prix de la Nonette in 1970. As a descendant of the broodmare Traffic Light, Popkins was related to several good winners including Sodium and Ambiguity.
Pharly was a dark-coated chestnut horse with no white markings bred in France by Jean-Paul Van Gysel. He returned to Europe and had considerable success as a breeding stallion, siring Kashmir, Welsh Pageant (Queen Anne Stakes), Tudor Music (July Cup) and Magic Flute (Coronation Stakes). Tudenham's dam Heath Rose was a high-class racemare who finished third in the Prix Vermeille and fifth in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe as a three-year-old in 1967. She was a granddaughter of the British broodmare Netherton Maid who was a full-sister to Neasham Belle and the female-line ancestor of many good winners including Hethersett, Hittite Glory and Harzand .
However, breeders were generally not successful expanding his influence outside of Japan. His progeny have won many races in Japan, including 20 out of 22 JRA Grade 1 flat races (the only exceptions are the NHK Mile Cup and the Japan Cup Dirt). His progeny also have won International Grade 1 race including the Hong Kong Vase, Hong Kong Mile and Dubai Sheema Classic. Descendants of Sunday Silence have broken many earnings records, in part because he was active at the start of the "big crop" era (siring about 2000 foals) and also because the average purses in Japan are significantly higher than the rest of the world. Conservative estimates on the earnings of Sunday Silence descendants place the total near JPY 80 billion (approximately $730 million according to Equibase).
Though there are other ways for pure white foals to crop up, like a foal who is a grey, and 'greys out' early in life. Another possibility is maximum sabino or maximum tobiano. Thowra is described as siring only three foals which are creamy like himself, these being an unnamed creamy foal upon the grey mare Boon Boon (which may have greyed out over a few years), and the true creamies the filly Kunama and colt Lightning from the creamy mare Golden. Golden is described as being a 'creamy' like Thowra himself, yet is much more clearly identified as being a palomino by her name, indicating that she is probably a darker, more traditionally 'golden' coloured palomino, though clearly still identifiable as being the same colour as Thowra.
Benny the Dip was a dark brown (officially "bay or brown") colt with a white star, bred in the United States by Landon Knight who raced the colt in his own colours until August 1997 when he sold a share in the colt to Claiborne Farm. The win was a notable one for Unfuwain: as well as siring the first and third horses, he was the damsire of the runner-up. After the race Richard Hills said "I set out to track Bintalreef because I thought she was the quick one in the race, but they were going faster on the stands' side and I had to tack straight across to get the cover I needed and it took a couple of furlongs to get her settled. John Gosden got me to ride Lahan from behind in a gallop on Wednesday and what she did there gave me the confidence I needed for today". Lahan was being prepared for a run in the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot when she sustained an injury to her right foreleg.
This led to Tousei obtaining the Madō Horror Plants when he interfered in a ritual held by Hakana and her group, siring her protector Sonshi as his first Madō Horror. From there, Tousei captures and confines Hakana beneath the Hill of Zedom's Head to have her germinate Madō Horror Plants so he can sire more Madō Horrors while taking over Vol City from the shadows under the guise of the owner of a steakhouse. Among his victims was his brother Kaga Kaneshiro, rendering him mute before driving him off into the graveyard. Upon learning of Ryuga's arrival in Vol City, Tousei develops an interest in the Makai Knight as he sires Enhou to become a Madō Horror while taking advantage of her curiosity in the recent chain of terrorist attacks.
Ever since Kintsune's time, the family, with the support of the Kamakura shogunate, could exert influence over even the Imperial regents, the Sesshō and Kampaku. The family made its formal residence in the Kitayama (northern mountains) area of Kyoto; the residence was likewise called Saionji, meaning "Western Garden Temple". Thus the family came to be sometimes known as the Lords of Kitayama; when Ashikaga Yoshimitsu became shōgun in 1368, he co-opted the site for his Kinkakuji, thus laying some claim to a connection to the Saionji and to their prestige as Lords of Kitayama. Saionji Sanekane joined the family to the Daikaku-ji line of the Imperial family, having become involved with the daughter of Emperor Go-Daigo or Emperor Kameyama and siring a son, Saionji Kinhira.

Her sire, Caerleon, won the Prix du Jockey Club and the Benson & Hedges Gold Cup in 1983 and went on to become an "excellent" breeding stallion, siring the winners of more than 700 races including Generous, Marienbard, Moonax and Warrsan. Preseli's was the first foal of her dam Hill of Snow who showed modest racing ability, winning one minor race from nine starts, but did better as broodmare, producing Snowfire (runner-up in the 1000 Guineas), Kong (Lingfield Derby Trial) and Mount Kilimanjaro (Further Flight Stakes).
When the prisoner takes Ol' Red for his daily rounds, he passes by the swamp, hoping Ol' Red and the Bluetick will mate. Once they start doing so consistently, the prisoner intentionally keeps the dogs apart for a half-week before resuming the normal pattern, so that Ol' Red is so eager to mate that he completely ignores the prisoner making his break: he heads for Tennessee and Ol' Red is headed for Florida. In the end, with the prisoner free and Ol' Red siring a litter of "red-haired blueticks," the narrator delivers the upshot: "Love got me in here, and love got me out." Although it did not reach the Top 10 on the US country charts, "Ol' Red" is one of Shelton's most commonly requested songs in concert (as well as one of his best-known hits).
Like the other three English stallions, and as was the custom of the day, Messenger was bred throughout Pennsylvania, New York and New Jersey. The mares he was bred with were not of the highest quality, but even so he proved himself a superior stallion, siring a great many successful racehorses. Messenger's daughter, Miller's Damsel, also known as "Queen of the American Turf", gave birth to the horse his breeder named American Eclipse in the belief the foal would be as great as the famous English Eclipse. They all escape with the hope of finding a Utopia in the land of P. What awaits Rina, however, is a chemical plant in the mountains, a desert-like field of salt, an isolated village, Siring, a town of prostitutes, and a large-scale industrial complex. Rina makes desperate efforts to settle down wherever she goes, but there is no place for her to stay. The journey of Rina, in which she crosses paths with all kinds of vulgar people, whose business it is to murder and rape, and deal in human trafficking, drugs, and prostitution, is described in a unique tone of black humor, it is difficult to tell reality from illusion in this novel. In the end, Rina goes in the direction of another border, not the land of P, demonstrating the time-old struggle between nations, or borders, and humans.
National Geographic video footage of behavior Female West African chimpanzees have been observed hunting and play an equally important role in defending territorial ranges from intrusion from neighbouring communities as the males do, suggesting females enjoy a much higher position in the hierarchy and play a more important role in social dynamics than other chimpanzee subspecies. While it was traditionally accepted that only female chimpanzees immigrate and males remain in their natal troop for life, Western Chimpanzees uniquely exhibit female and male immigration between groups, suggesting males are less territorial and more willing to accept unfamiliar males. Paternity tests indicate males frequently mate with females from several different communities, siring infants from them. There are even cases of solitary male western chimpanzees, while in any other chimpanzee population, a lone chimpanzee could not survive for very long.

Sir Archy had a huge influence on Thoroughbred history, siring the line which led to Timoleon, Boston, and Lexington.

Initial work on the hall was started by Matthew's son, Timothy, and after a remodelling in the 1730s, a stable block was added in 1750 by John Hutton II, the son of the former member of parliament for Richmond bearing the same name, who's racehorse Marske was best known for siring the undefeated Eclipse. The ornamental gardens were added in 1836, and the grounds, as well as the stables remain separated from the hall by a road providing access to the village. Baldwin III died on 10 February 1163 and the kingdom passed to Amalric, although there was some opposition among the nobility to Agnes; they were willing to accept the marriage in 1157 when Baldwin III was still capable of siring an heir, but now the Haute Cour refused to endorse Amalric as king unless his marriage to Agnes was annulled.Coin of Amaury (1163-1174): Amaury and his successors used the Holy Sepulchre on the obverse image for their deniers as a way of strengthening their relationship with the church where they were both crowned and buried. This helped to reinforce the legitimacy of the dynasty's claims to the Kingdom of Jerusalem. The hostility to Agnes, it must be admitted, may be exaggerated by the chronicler William of Tyre, whom she prevented from becoming Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem decades later, as well as from William's continuators like Ernoul, who hints at a slight on her moral character: "car telle n'est que roine doie iestre di si haute cite comme de Jherusalem" ("there should not be such a queen for so holy a city as Jerusalem").
